Thanks for all the info on the space bar. Keep us updated lol. I don’t think we can use mouse and keyboard on the 705

Xiegu probably feels it's better to send these out incomplete knowing that a simple firmware upgrade or two will "take care" of the problem 'down the road', which I think is a piss poor way to do business. And I guess that accounts for the crappy instruction manual too figuring that 'someone else will make a better manual' (eventually) for the ham community. Still, the initial mic issue is what really concerns me. Xiegu has to address that. Thanks again for taking the time out for all the X6100 videos.

It definitely seems like there's quite a bit of work left to be done in the firmware side of things... Hopefully they can get it squared away.

Steve, what are the rtty settings you are using to decode rtty? I can’t get anything intelligible decoded on the display. 73, de NH7TR…

They were the default settings, but the 3rd and 4th buttons allow you to change them based on the signal you are receiving.

I wonder if you can do CW with the keyboard

Not in the official firmware, but it is physical possible for a good coder.

The number keys seem to change bands. at 4:20 you pressed "5" and it switched to 20meter. Also at 1:10 you mashed number keys, and the VFO went crazy switching bands a bunch of times. I would bet each number key is somehow bound to a band.... Interesting.

I didn't notice that part, but if I remember right, the F1-F5 keys were the function buttons at the bottom of the screen too. This was a long time ago.

The real question is: Keyboard and mouse, WHY NOT?

Well if you watch the video, you'll see why not ;-) I was really hoping to do keyboard to keyboard CW/RTTY/PFK with the built in Modems... or to be able to type in my WiFi password... or...
I can see a use for it, but I can't see why they didn't finish writing the software for it.

you seriously expect to just plug in some random wireless keyboard without drivers in the radio firmware/OS/Kernel to just work? Well sorry but not going along with your 'problem' here. Look at it from the other side, are there any other radios who would support what you show in this video out of the box? On the bright side the OS is begin hacked into so maybe someone can add the driver to the Kernel ...

It looks like you didn't watch the video. I plug the mouse and keyboard in, they do "work", but they don't do the things you'd want a mouse and keyboard to do... made even worse by Xiegu's "prior art" on the GSOC where the mouse and keyboard do more than they do on this radio.
Keyboards and mice have existed for decades and have an expected behavior. This radio ignores all of that.
What feature set would you expect from a keyboard and mouse plugged into your radio? Does this radio perform those functions?

@@temporarilyoffline i sure did watch most of your video but still stand by my comments. Plugging in any odd proprietary wireless receiver into a linux, android system may lead to undesired results if the appropriate drive is not in the used kernel. That you expect this keyboard just to work, its for a mac as you state, xiegu nowhere states it should work, boggles my mind and borders to me on clickbait sorry, no dice. ;-)

Sorry but this is the second time I heard you call the female USB-A connector USB-B.
I’m sure you already know the difference. Cameras just suck half our knowledge away. But for everyone else, USB-A is the rectangle one, USB-B is the nearly square one, and USB-C is the small rectangular one with rounded edges. All the mini and micros are just called total crap.
