Where possible, all links are affiliate links, this youtube thing is an expensive endeavor and every little bit helps.
As a new ham and one that's not very electronics savvy, I fin d your channel very informative. Thank you for sharing this content.
I appreciate that, thanks!
Looks like the XPA output reading is a percentage of the output, 125 watts being
100% the percentages match pretty close to the power output on the MFJ meter.
You could draw out a small chart of % readings to watts out, and be pretty close.
Good tip, thanks!
Good to see it working so seamlessly with the amp. Looks like a nice little setup.
Its a pretty good setup, was just using it for an hour during a live stream and it did well.
Nice job TO, I have done a bunch of trailer wiring and same thing you have to remember that the plugs are opposite of each other. The one thing I do with something like this is tape the wires I am not going to use to side of the wire to help with the confusion Lol!
Thanks Chuck!
Thanks TO, that’s the stuff I like to see. I learned a lot there. I very nearly bought that amp Saturday for my 705 thanks to your videos on it but decided to wait until January.
Don't forget about my discount code below, its not much, but every little bit helps.
One small suggestion. It might be helpful to put ferrite beads near the connectors on both ends of the cable to reduce or block possible RF on the cable. I did this with the cable connecting my G90 & XPA125B since I'm using a non-resonant end-fed antenna.
That's a great idea. My antenna is pretty far away from my station, so I normally don't have to worry about RFI. I didn't even think about it. Thanks
It does the thing. Well done.
It does the thing!
Nice. Radioddity is insisting that the L4001 cable (and the DE19) are not compatible with the G90, but that makes no sense, since it's just straight through wiring and the signals for the 6100 appear to match what the G90 sends through its ACC cable. DE19 works great with the G90 for digital modes, and I don't want to switch to the CE19 to use the amp. I've got parts coming and a soldering station standing by.
I'm in the same boat. The L4001 cable is the recommended cable for the DE19, as soon as that comes in, I'll test and make a video either way. If it doesn't work, I won't be happy!
@@temporarilyoffline If I owned the business, I'd verify that the cable works, and sell more DE19s, more XPA125Bs and more cables to G90 owners. But that's just crazy talk, apparently.
@@GVDub sadly, I've seen that from other MFGs
Great content once again!
Thanks Jed!
That's the same way I did my spare cable (because you always need a spare) - buy a mini 6pin din cable and add the TRRS
There you go! Mine came from a "Add APRS to the Kenwood TM-281" project that died on the bench... not enough APRS around here to make anything interesting.
That's some seriously nerdy content and I love it! I never understood how to make my own cable. I still don't but I feel like I do. 😏
Gotta start somewhere
Thanks
No problem!
Nicely done. Its a shame the Xiegu amp is so expensive.
I'm pretty impressed with it. I put it through its paces in some videos before. I like the built in protection circuits they've created.
Hi Steve,
Those breakout cables are nice. Stay safe. 7. WJ3U
I have another project on the channel using USB break out cables to make decorations around the house. They are super easy to use, a great invention for sure!
Thanks I cut stock cable cannot find any my old cables
Gotta hack!
@@temporarilyoffline ordered direct on cable been delayed
Nice video! The producer was in hover mode! What do you can be done to make that amp a little bit better?
I'm really happy with the amp, what do you think?
@@temporarilyoffline I saw a couple reviews and the conclusion was it is not the cleanest amp out there just barely passing by with spurious emissions. Maybe replace a few components with higher quality units and possibly some upgraded filtering. Maybe even some better cooling ideas other than just fans..... Just some tweaks here and there for giggles.....
@@CapeCodCNC ah, I'll take a look
I am trying to figure out how to use my IC-705 with this amp, but have not been able to figure out what cable I need to connect them together.
I will drop out a video on that in the next few days. I have that setup also.
@@temporarilyoffline I have the X5105, but I specifically bought this amp for the Ic-705 that was delivered last night. Can’t wait to get out to a park and try this one out.
@@temporarilyoffline Did you make that video? I can't find a finished cable for the 705 in EU :(
@steffenlav7832 not yet, but they are on ebay
Hey, great vids been watching with interest your channel, slightly off subject but you might help recently my G90 has developed a clicking sound from the speaker (and headphones) on volume incremental notches, even when increasing or decreasing volume from the hand held mic buttons, do you think its hardware or software related, running 1.77 FW....thank you and keep up the great work...Ray 9H5TB
Hey Ray! If it happens with hand mic and with vfo, it's something further into the rig, if your brave, open it up and clean it up inside and give it a good visual inspection, repeat all connectors, etc. All the things you do in a computer tune up, because this is a computer.
@@temporarilyoffline Cheers appreciate!
When you activate the ATU on the x6100 will it activate the tuner on the amplifier?
I'd have to check. I have some more videos to put out on the amp.
@@temporarilyoffline i just purchased one the other day
Along with the cable
Im building a pota pelican case with it
@@texaswelderman347 join us over on TOADs discord (link in the description) I'd like to see that case when you get it built out. Sounds like a good project. (The faceplate on the xpa125 can come loose to be mounted in the kit)
@@temporarilyoffline im going to need details on that!
That xpa125b is going to take up majority of this case and i was looking for a solution
Sounds great
@@texaswelderman347 I have a video tearing mine apart for a repair. Take a look to see the front panel with its ribbon cable.
Do you need this for CW?
Nope, this connects the radio to the amp. You can use thus setup for CW if you want though
