    After trying tretinion, blue light, and in-office red light, I finally went in for the fraxel dual laser procedure. I am now 2 days post procedure and using the Alastin after care kit. I've never used these really high end products before, so I am enjoying them. Thank you for explaining the chemistry of all these new age sophisticated products! If we are going to $$$ spend this much on skin care, we need to understand what we're doing!

    I’ve been liking the Skinbetter products I’m using, particularly the cleansing gel and oxygen infusion wash. I have used ZO in the past, but since discovered some of their products contain sulfates, denatured alcohol, dyes, artificial fragrances etc so I’ll not be using ZO again.

    • @BlobNeon

      I would love to use the ZO pads, but why on earth does alcohol have to be in there and so high on the ingredient list?! It’s crazy, why aren’t we past this? For being to “innovative”, this is very reminiscent of stripping 80’s and 90’s toners. Sea Breeze, anyone?

      @@BlobNeon I know it’s insane. The skinbetter exfoliating pads also contain denatured alcohol (third ingredient on the list) and at almost £100 in the UK for just 30 pads it’s crazy.

      I agree, its unfortunate that they add some synthetics.For fragrance, the only synthetics are bright alive and growth factor serum. The rest are essential oil blends. But I understand that some people may not want any kind of fragrance in their skincare.
      The alcohols have various purposes. Oily skins need something to minimize oil and alcohol can do that well. Again, individual based.
      That's why I love Skinbetter. It avoids dyes, fragrance, phthalates etc.

      For a non hydroquinone option, people have been having great success with Alastin Aluminate. Or you could go down the hydroquinone route.
      Acne scars require a break up in the scar tissue so microneedling or resurfacing laser.

    Hi Dr. Ania, thank you for your very informative videos. Could Trio be too much for someone who is very acne prone? If so, what would you suggest to use instead? At night time I’ve been using Arazlo (for a couple of years, only 3 times a week), Mystro, a liquid serum that comes with a dropper, and then Trio. I’ve only used the SkinBetter products for a month. I’m 50yo but still very prone to breakouts and blackheads. I wonder if I should use a lighter hydrator than Trio. I also use Alto in the morning. Thank you!

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  10 місяців тому

      Trio is not comedogenic but yes it can be too much if you don’t need the hydration. I sometimes skip it and sometimes use half a pump. You might try ZO daily power defense or Alastin HA immerse Serum, that is quite light.
      As far as Alto, choose Alto over Alto Advanced
      Hope that helps ❤️

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  8 місяців тому

      it doesn't spread as easily so you end up applying a thicker layer. When the sunscreen has silicone and goes on with a slip to it, you can apply such a thin layer that you won't get much protection

  • @cally2895

    My understanding from your recent video with claudiaglows is that peptides and hyaluronic acid cannot get into the skin because of large molecular size. How are these products- particularly the ones for neck different than other peptide /HA products. Thanks

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  9 місяців тому +1

      Its about technology and formulation. If a large molecule has to be designed to get through the skin surface into deeper tissues. Alastin technology uses liposomes. Fatty bubbles that float down between the cells. Skinbetter uses something similar, a lipid coating. ZO also has multiple technology pathways depending on what they are driving into the skin. Some go between the cells, some through the cells

    Loved this routine! Especially keen in trying the Mystro! I've been using the new Plated line for a month or so and I do not know how I feel about it yet lol. Have yet to notice a massive change. I was wondering do you recommend incorporating an occlusive laden moisturizer to help with barrier repair as opposed to using the Trio for example which mainly has emollients and a bit of dimethicone but not enough to warrant an occlusive badge. I do use the Trio during the day but something I feel, it lacks big time in the occlusivity department.

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  11 місяців тому +1

      You are correct, it is not meant to be an occlusive. In general I would say, my goal would be to repair the skin barrier so you don't need an occlusive.
      Those that experience transepidermal water loss sometimes need an occlusive, especially in dry winter climates. You can use vaseline or aquaphor. I like Alastin's soothe and protect recovery balm. These are all occlusives.

    I have been trying to 'get used' to Retin A since May 2023, and my skin is still dry, peeling, with small wounds. Additionally, my skin care routine has included Alastin's HA IMMERSE, Ultra-Nourishing Moisturizer, Restorative Skin Complex; ZO's new mineral sunscreen; and Skinbetter's Alto Advanced and Oxygen Cleanser. Prior to starting the Alastin products, I exclusively used ZO and Skinbetter. I was able to tolerate ZO's wrinkle and texture repair almost nightly. My nasal labia folds and marionette lines are so red, peeling, and irritated with wounds. Should I just give up on the Retin A and go back to ZO's wrinkle and texture repair? Would I benefit from Mystro? Should I switch from the Advanced Alto to Alastin"s Vitamin C? Should I switch from Ultra-Nourishing to Trio? Thank you again for another wonderful informative video!

    • @theocbeautymd
      @theocbeautymd  11 місяців тому +1

      This does not sound right. You should not have wounds on your face! It's difficult to give advice without knowing a lot more details. I always recommend doing skin restoration under supervision of a professional. Wounds on the face are not an anticipated reaction so my first instinct it to suggest stopping whatever if causing your wounds. It could be the tretinoin. it could be a mix of other products combined with tretinoin. Perhaps you would do better on wrinkle and texture, perhaps Complex A+. It's hard to say. But heal your wounds first.
      If you'd like, we can do a virtual consultation. Once I know more, it would be easier to guide you.

      Have you tried applying moisture before the retin a? I currently use Zo daily power defense first before applying my retina. I’ve also used the immerse before retin a as well in the past. Also stop putting in on your nasal fold if it cant tolerate it. I avoid the nasal fold but still apply it to nose and cheeks
