When Tim called Dr. SPG but Gordon Ramsay from Hell’s Kitchen arrived. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha 😂😂😂 that’s the perfect caption
Hahahaahah!!!
@@wildvine.plants 🤣😂
44 minutes of timmy getting schooled! 😭 poor dude.
😂😂😂🎉🎉
Timmy called him to the rescue. So, this was to be expected from his expert friend.
🤣🤣poor timmy, it just takes some people longer to learn to have a green thumb. he has to want a green thumb.
Hahahaha~ Ohh sweet Timberly 💚 The excess water just needs to be poured out of the pot at most 3 hours of soaking. Over night soaking in water is a no no 💦💦
Plants don’t like sudden and intense exposure to sun. In the beginning I put my first plant out in the sun to “sunbathe” thinking it would like it but it got sunburned too. Common new beginner plant mistake. I never did that again
Look at Timberly extending the pole all by himself!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
He’s learnnninggg! So cute 🤣😊
Hold the flashlight straight, son! LOLL
Sometimes u need a bit of tough love 😂 we love teasing each other :)
At first I was like...nooo, don't be so hard on him! By the 10th plant you lifted out of a dripping pot I was muttering loudly...TIMMY NOOO! 😂
😂😂😂 sometimes u gotta be hard to get the message across 😂😂
I thought SPG was very gentle 😂 I'm a tough teacher too!
😂
“I am traumatized by the experience.” 😂 I love the way you two interact. It’s like family. 😊
Well we really are just like family :)
Tim is so lucky to be gifted so many nice plants from you but is also such a good friend always helping you with moving etc. I always feel bad for him in these videos because it seems like he is being told off or made to feel silly rather than being educated on what he is doing wrong and educated on the correct way to do things.
Big Tim fan!
Tim's a big boy, I'm sure he loves the rap on the knuckles. Dr SPG is welcome to berate my overwatering ass anytime! Big love plant fam!
I don’t see anything wrong here other than a friend helping another. Jan can be intense when it comes to plants and I am sure all his friends know that. He also has a LOT of energy. Have you seen any of his repotting videos😀?
It’s called banter 😂
Tim is real and genuine. He is very charming!
The way Tim looked at the camera after you cut the leaves 😂😂😂😂
😂😂 no mercy!!
I knowww right.
Be nice to Timmy!!!! 😂 he’s a new dad!
Smothered love. Chill dude! LOL 😂
It’s been 4 years of Moss poles for him 😂 not a new dad 😂
@@sydneyplantguy 😧
New dog dad lolol
Pleeeeaaaaasssseee, continue these Dr. Jan vids. Radical.
Will do :)
Im obsessed with those slanted windows Timmy has those would be awesome to have for a plant room
Me too!! So jealous!!
Those are amazing ❤
I thought the same!
●"It fell over"
○"It fell into a pond!?"
Living for the sarcasm!!
“What is this? What is this behavior?”
“She wants to get down!”
I died!!!!! I keep rewinding and LMAO🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha I was already grumpy before Tim showed me his aroid soup 😂😂
@@sydneyplantguy”Aroid soup” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You’re killing me, I love it and intend to use it with my friends anytime over watering is mentioned. That should’ve been your caption for this video. But I’m with you on the “aroid soup” part, all the effort put into growing healthy plants, should be thriving by now and not starting over!
😆😆😆
This was SO FUNNY omg 😂 what a cutie
Oh my Timmy 😅 garden soil??? Priceless reaction from SPG 😂 You’re doing great! It’s a process….🥰
Thank you so much :) appreciate the support!!
At this rate of Plant Emergencies you will have to be in-house Plant Doctor😍❤️
Lucky he only lives a block away!! 😂
Awww poor Timmy! He needs a hug 🥰😅💛🙌🏽
I take every single one of my plants outside to water. Why? So I can leave it to drain for an hour then bring it back inside knowing it won't be sitting in a pool of water. I learnt that early on, after drowning a few plants. It's my fool proof way to water.. Another tip is that I water my plants while sitting in a bucket, the run off / excess water I can then use to tip over outdoor plants such as my potted herbs, they get the nutrients and water out of the pot/bucket, it's not wasted. The time outdoors means the plant dries off a bit in the breeze.
Perfect 🙌🙌
I can relate to Timmy. I was in his position a year ago. I almost killed numerous aroids and had to rehab them back from root rot. It was an important learning experience for me. I have faith that Timmy will improve and get the hang of when to water etc.
He’ll get there for sure :)
Letting sit in water is probably the biggest problem. Like Jan said, volume.
@@lupitasmith9944 this isn’t so much of a problem if you take the plant out of the decorative pot when watering. I still do that so I can let it drain before it goes back into the decorative pot.
@msnyx823 I do as well, but clearly, not everyone makes the time for it. It can be a lot of work with life, work, chores, pets, kids and such. So it's understandable.
When I had a roommate that had a tendency to 'help' water my plants, I got into the habit of adding a leca layer at the bottom of every pot in the common areas. It worked well enough that I do it in every pot now and don't have to worry about occasional overwatering!
Good idea :)!
I really believe that Tim will learn through try and error. It is such a difference between watching and doing things by themself.
I really love seeing you giving tips to other growers! I wish i had a bestie who could come give me some tips when my houseplants are faltering
Thanks :)
I’m lol because poor Timmy is drowning them plants… you need to take away all his cover pots and just give him saucers😂
Love seeing you and Timmy. You always say you feel like you're repeating yourself but look at poor Timmy loving his plants too much 😂, it takes a lot of practice before it becomes second nature. the last year of watching your videos over and over again has filled my house with happy plants! Thank you Dr SPG
Very true! Repetition is what helps us learn :) thank you!
That was hilarious 🤣 Are you ok Tim? What a bollocking 😂 . Lots of my plants are having the same issues, and It seems to happen this time each year 😥🤷♀️ . I can never see any bugs, and very careful not to overwater. I check pots after watering, empty wet ones, and even stand the inner pot on old towels to soak up excess. I spray for bugs and fungus anyway, but of course that's too late, and they look daggy til next season. It's not as simple as Jan makes it look, is it? I don't know how those with jobs, kids or new puppies can do it all. Hope grouchy is feeling better now 🧟🤸♂️
There’s definitely a lot of effort that goes in it :) and sounds like a lot of the ‘issues’ you are explaining would just be conditional, so best to put effort into supplementing conditions rather than care :) or just wait for spring :)
@sydneyplantguy Yes, more diligence required. I've been waiting for spring for the last month 😂 Loving the comment section on this funny video. I think we all feel like family 😘
Love how you gave Tim the side eye when he said “tips and tricks” 😂
😒🙄😂😂😂
By you helping Tim, we ALL get an education! Love the Dr. SPG episdoes😊
He’d claim he’s selfishlessly doing things wrong on purpose JUST to have a learning curve for the camera 😂😂
“If this is your favorite, why are you abusing it?” 😂 Held zero punches!
😅😅
Totally team Timmy over here. Love the 'don't worry guys, we give each other s#!t' 😂. True friendship right there haha. Was eye opening to watch because I've def given the same attitude to my friends trying to grow plants 😅
😂😂
"whats this behaviour?" 1:20
the little doggy paddles haha so cute!
The poor Syngonium Fantasy falling out of the soaked pot was a classic moment! Looking forward to an update to see if it can survive on the pole only 🤞
Pretty confident it will survive :) but there’ll be updates for sure :)
Poor little Bailey 🐶 wants to help so much; she's such a sweetie pie! 💗 I feel for Tim. A new puppy and his gorgeous plant collection is probably a little tricky finding a balance. I have to distract my cats whenever I need to do a plant overhaul and it usually ends in broken pots, soil everywhere and traumatized animals... Lol. So Tim, you're doing well 💕💜🧡🐶
He really is :) i was a harsh critic that day 😅
I love watching a non-planty person learning the intricacies involved in growing indoor plants, and growing them well. Poor Timmy is where I was 2 years ago. He'll be an expert in a few years, lol.
Nothing more educational than these videos, dr SPG 👌 Thank you! And good luck to Timmy 🙋
Thanks :)!
Only 10min in and I wanna give Tim some positive reinforcement 🤣🤣 At least he's trying instead of being neglectful. That's a LOT of greenery to care for. Stay with it, Tim! Loll 💜
There’s some positive reinforcement in the 2nd half 😂😂
"Well, you've had 4 years to learn all this sh*t" 😭 He gives it right back. These types of friendships are SO important and we'll all benefit from the plant reminders throughout the video 👏🏿 Great job guys.
Haha yes we love teasing each other :D
Hello from Arizona! Grumpy pants Dr SPG, lol! Poor Timmy, haha! 😂I'm sure he'll be more careful with your plants, and he says you leave him great directions. I'm positive he'll be better than my hubby! I went away and left super specific directions but still came home to dead plants. He let the leaves dry out, freaked out, overwatered, and left them all sitting in water to "fix" the leaves but rotted all of the roots!
Oh noo 🫢🫣 oh well sounds like he had good intentions !!
😠 😡 😾 . Bloody Grumpy. Glad you held your own Timmy. ❤
😂😂 he’s been through worse :P
That Dr. needs to work on his bedside manner Tim!!
😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry to disappoint but no bedside visits from that Doctor 😏😏😅
OMGawd the dog love 😂❤❤❤❤❤
Love a nice puppy greeting me🥰 🐶
Tim was given a lot of positive reinforcement as well. Good job doc😊
I think Tim needs some extra lights for the plant who are away from the big window.
Yeah we’ll need to work on that next :)
Poor Timmy. He may not ask for help in the future, actually he will now become a chronic underwaterer. Y'all are so fun to watch. Ms Bailey is pretty darn adorable. Can't wait for the next video❤😊
🤔🫡😅thank you Tim for being the focal point of what we ( loosely ;) all need to hear :) drown & drain
What I Know & Try to do 😅
.....I would kill for those windows!! My flat is so dark it may as well be underground. Grow lights everywhere 😩
Those windows are EVERYTHING 🙌🙌
The horror in your eyes says it all- love how absolutely ruthlessly honest you were with Timmy how worried he made you for your own plans 🤣😅😅
I’m a very honest person 🫣 can come across as harsh but I have good intentions hehe
It's ok Timmy. We have all been there! Plants are extremely resilient, and they will bounce back just fine. You've got this Timmy! We believe in you!
💪💪
😿 by the time you think you've figured out watering requirements, conditions change. A+ for effort Tim.😻
He’ll get there eventually :)
Great seeing Tim again 😊 I simply love his chill Energy! 😎 ❤ It's a healthy contrast to Jan's perfectionism 😉🌴
This was really helpful! Timmy is not alone, I'm also struggling with adjusting my watering due to the conditions. But I am going to use your tip to reduce volume with my moss poles. Educational and funny! Thanks guys
Thank you:)
That intro is a hoot ❤ poor Tim’s getting trashed! Jan be nice! He’s still new at this and there’s sooo much to have to learn!! But I appreciate knowing what happens if I get complacent. I do t tend to learn a lot if someone’s collection is perfect. My Adensonii pole is so tall I have trouble keeping it moist let alone reaching it with a bottle! It’s time to chop her I think
Ok Jan, Tim is on a different journey than you, he says he’s ok with a bit of janky leaves he said “it’s better than nothing” and you chop them anyway. Let Tim have some control too he’s willing to pest treat and fix it until new leaves come in. I’m just saying Jan, they’re his plants now, and positive reinforcement is good too!
He called his friend for help and this is not the first time he is meeting Jan. I think Timmy can take it.
Also when you are finding plants after plants soaking in water on the verge of rotting it can be unsettling 😊 and Timmy has done it before too but it was hot = easier to deal with
Well technically we started this hobby together 🫢🫢 so he should have a similar amount of experience in the grand scheme of things 😂 and if he wants conteol over his own plants he doesn’t need to call me :D haha don’t worry, we love teasing each other :) we take it light-heartedly
😮😅😂 OMG, this was so entertaining. I really loved this video so much for so many reasons. The video provided so much valuable learning content for newbies like me just walking through the process for the first time.
I loved watching you school Timmy. Let me be clear, I don’t want to see you beat people up verbally (which I don’t think you did) but seeing the banter was hysterical because you’re so straight forward. There was a trend and you pointed it out. Learners like me need to hear that. I literally laughed out loud several times!!!
You pointed out exactly what the problems were as well as what Timmy was doing well, which as a learner was quite helpful. Teaching can be challenging that way. Especially with friends!
I love your honesty and straight forwardness (is that a word?!! lol). You’re authentically you. I love that about you too! ❤
As a viewers we got to see first hand what mold looks like on a moss pole, what happens when you water too much, what happens when environment differs in different areas of your house, what can happen when you leave a plant outside too long, what happens when life gets busy, what unhealthy roots look like on a moss pole…
You may have been grumpy because you didn’t think: 1. Timmy needed so much help/schooling and your quick video turned long form when you both had limited time & 2. he basically knows the system and has you readily available as a friend so he shouldn’t need a lot of help, right? He should be a regular chop and extend pro. He’s just like the rest of us! 😂 To be honest, this ended up being a fantastic example of real life working through the process of plant care. Moss poles vs potted plants. We got to see Timmy doing the work this time and struggle through because you usually just do it for him. At least that’s what I see from the videos I’ve watched. Timmy is a great helper but you do the critical plant care work. I completely appreciated seeing Timmy work through it though. He’s the perfect example of how when environments change plants need different care even when you know the system. As we all learn your system there’s a learning curve to how we water and care for our plants and this showed that clearly.
Timmy, your plants look amazing! You are obviously doing something right for them to look so good! We all have those few plants that give us trouble. And had SPG not come over, you would’ve had bigger problems in a few weeks. Let me say, I get the water in the pot problem. Even after you water it fully, water continues to drip through. Or you’re in a hurry and just need to get it done quick so you water it in the pot. I don’t think you need to stop filling the base with amendments yet. I think going back through after you water with an empty bucket to dump the excess water would be a game changer for you! Sometimes it’s just easier to water in the pot. I get it, I do the same thing sometimes.
Things I would’ve liked to see more closely if there was better light was the damage from thrips and spider mites. These are things we talk about in the community but sometimes the visual part of what it looks like on specific tropical plant leaves can be difficult to find. Sometimes I freak out over little things like wonky new leaf growth thinking it’s bugs but it’s just a plant getting used to a new environment or being repotted. So learning the normal defects, mineral build up vs insect damage is what I’d like to see more closely myself.
Keep doing the great work you do! I love watching your videos and I appreciate learning about everything, including the ugly side of things. 😊 I know this is long winded but I had so much to say!! 😂 Take care!
Definitely a great video to show trial & error in the working :) thanks for your lovely comment :)
I'm leaving for a ten-day vacation and my brother will take care of the flowers. Tim is perfect compared to him, so I'm terrified of what I'll see when I get back 😱 As always, a great duo plus sweet 🐕
Good luck 🤞🤞🤞☺️
I love how you dont go hey you dont have a green thumb but tell whats happening and visible and going wrong
There’s no such thing as a green thumb :) it’s all just about applying principles & dedicating the time :)
The obvious tip to give Tim is: After he waters his plants drain all the cover pots 30 minutes later. Then they won’t be drowning 😀🇨🇦
Sometimes it’s important to state the obvious! :)
Better to check the cover pot several times during the next 24h. Poles can be draining for a long time.
@@Yambataller yup! Had my roommate look after my plants and three days after draining I came home and there was a lot of water still in the pot. I told her no worries but maybe check a day later as well if you can plus I will try to have them sitting in saucers instead of cache pots to make it more visible if water is accumulating 😅
If the rootsystem in the pole is still small then some water is just not absorbed and will keep draining in my experience
The albo syngonium is so pretty 🤩 kinda how my aunt and I interact we kinda go to each others house and help each other to see where we are struggling. Sometimes it’s just neglect. Tim and u act like family so nice of u helping him around with plants :)
Man! If I had that kind of window in that kind of a room!
For anyone also struggling with watering frequency for poles; get in the habit of just squeezing or touching the pole in a couple places all the way down once a day or every couple days. After a while you will figure out what it feels like just before it gets crunchy and you can either water then or just adjust to lesser amounts more frequently. Personally I've gotten used to more frequent watering with less water to keep my tall poles moist but if you leave it longer just be aware the very top of the pole might get hydrophobic between watering (don't do it if you plant is at the top)
You should get used to the amount of water each size of pole needs over time but at first start with a small amount and leave it a day and see how far it soaks down the pole then adjust more if needed.
In summer you will need to water more. Fuller rooted poles need a bit more frequency as well.
At first a day after watering check the pole and the bottom for water. But once you get used to the amounts you need you won't have to checked the bottom pot as often.
The ideal is to soak the whole pole but barely leave any for the pot (if you're watering frequently) once established. If it's new on the pole I'd water the same way but also water the pot itself separately
Make sure to leave it 24hrs before adding more water as it won't have properly dispersed throughout the pole immediately and if u add more immediately you will most likely add too much
These are all great tips! I started with moss/coco poles half a year ago and by checking regularly I found the little signs of what they need! I still got mold on one recently (increased the airflow), or overwaterer one (repotted that one) but slowly you get a feel for it!
Timothy is such a good sport and he’s really great on camera too. I half expected you to find a goldfish at the bottom of one of those pots though! Your planty friends are so much fun.
And Bailey is adorable, I wish I could smell the puppy smell thru the camera. 😍
I think you could do a whole series around helping people choose and decorate with plants that fit their spaces and ability/commitment level to caring for them. The transformation would be fun to see. And then you could do follow-up house calls for multiple people.
Thank youuu :)
Stunning plants and stunning apartment x
Thank you Jan for very informative trouble shooting. Very helpful. I would love a friend to give me so many amazing plants and then come and do so much for me. You’re a great friend x
Thanks :)
It's good to see that even a good friend of the best plant parent I know makes these mistakes. It makes me feel like a normal plant parent! I guess we don't really get to see your mistakes because you are so far into your plant journey and have everything so efficient now. I think you had a conversation with AJ about doing videos on going back to basics. I think that is fantastic idea.
Thanks :)
The intro to this was so cute! I love all the plants and understand when some need extra love ❤ great video as always! ✨🪴
Thank you so much!!:)
Loved the show Dr SPG and saw myself in Tim we know when we are not following doctor’s orders but we try lol
Haha always important to follow the doctors orders ;)
So Germanic 😂
This is basically me, whenever i visit a friends house, that has some plants 😂
❤
You guys are my favorite! And AJ and Bailey and Brad! This is hilarious! I don't know how you didn't crack up!! Great work!!
Thanks :)
Listening to all the excess water dripping made me have to go pee half way through the video 😂
😂
😭😭 Hilarious
😂😂😂😂
Wow! That was intense! 🔥
Trust the process Timmy
Tim, just know your plants are still impressive and beautiful! ❤️
This was really great video for me! I actually realized im doing lot of same stuff as Tim :) especially overwatering my moss poles. Thank you all 3 for this video
So it’s not just me…
@@TimS185 definitely not! I always water top of the moss pole even if its bare and down is still moist! Time to change that thought. Explains what happend to my Esmeraldense hehe...
Took me a couple of years to really have a good feeling for the required volume :)
I need more of this banter. 😂😂😂❤❤❤ We need episode 2.
This is episode 2 🫢🫢 i linked episode 1 in the description :)
Another great dr visit to Tim's 🌿✨👌speed recovery to the few unwell.
But he has many healthy ones in his care ✨
💚🌿🍀🌵💚
Thanks :)
The pole chop would’ve upset me 😂😂😂😂😂😂
“Aroid soup” that needs to be Timmy’s merch!
😂😂😂
Timmy-I have experienced all your learning experiences too. Thanks for being a good sport and sharing your collection!😾
Awe Timmy.. 😕 you are doing a thoughtful and kind job taking care of your plants.. 😤
You and Timmy and Bailey are quite a comedy team ❤
Thanks :)
@sydneyplantguy Jan you’re so tough on Tim!😂😂😂 he got a thorough telling off for his care of the plants. I felt really bad for him. But I know it was tough love😂😂😂
Loved this! & love Tim!
Thanks :)
Tim is so nice, loved you two interaction!!
Thank you:)
💜💜 we are learning along with you Timberly! This is so helpful for beginners!😡
Thanks:)
😂💚🌿 that style pole and mix does dry quickly! He might need grow vertical pole for the splendid
Nooo he needs the opposite !! More airflow!!:P
I love when you do emergency plant doctor, it cracks me up that you even have a white coat.
My mother in law went to a master gardener's class and she always wants starts of our plants. I finally told my husband no more, because she successfully kills them almost every single time, with the exception of a few random ones🤨😠
Thanks :)
OMG, the syngonium fantasy pot "moment". I needed that laugh, thank you. Excellent video as always. I love the Tim vids.
Thanks :)
Little pro tip for the zip ties Tim if you don’t have some proper snips then fingernail clippers work really well.
"so I just used the soil we had delivered for the garden".... omg can we talk about SPG face at 15:22, I spat my coffee! LOL
😂😂😂
Timmy ❤ brotherly love
Love the Dr. concept SPG !
Thanks :)
😠 Love these rescue videos! There is no SPG without Timmy at this point. His experience provides much needed encouragement cause let’s face it our plants are also our teachers too and looks like Timmy is starting to get the hang of reading his plants.
He’s a great way to show ‘trial & error’ happening live in fromt of us hehe :D once he gets the hang of it & understanda the conditions in his house better there’s no stopping him :)
Hello this is Timmy 😊. This was Jan😠. Between the two Gardners we get 🌴🌴
Timberly!! 😂😂.
I’ve invited so much to finish work so I can watch this. Flawless ❤
Thanks :)
Sometimes I make the same mistakes as Tim....but Tim has awesome windows and direct access to YOU so really he doesn't have an excuse.
I laughed so hard that I choked while drinking! Tim called SPG for a checkup, but heard that the illness is terminal. 😝 Dr was not joking today as it was serious conditions. Tim didn’t bother himself as he thought Dr SPG can do surgery; he just didn’t know you can’t raise the dead. Awesome vid that we can all learn from Jan & Tim!😖
Haha lovely summary!! Thank you:)
Sometimes, we need extra intense 'schooling' not to be lax with our growing endeavors. I just started watching you because I needed to make a moss pole for my Philodendron Majesty, your moss pole instructions were the BEST. You also have a great aroid mix so I was able to make my own. 👍👍 Since my newly poled😉 Majesty has yet to get roots growing into it, I've opted to just spray the moss every few days to alleviate mold starting. I have good airflow in my grow space (mostly orchids), so mold shouldn't become a problem. I watch a few other Aussie orchid channels, tho I live in BC, Canada. Thanks so much for all the great info that you share. 😃
Happy growing :)
Oh doctor, doctor 🎉🎉 All good Timmy. Just keep saying, ok, ok. 🎉🎉😂😂😂❤
😂
You two are so entertaining.
I’m not really friends with someone until someone asks if we’re mad at each other when we’re vibing.
Favorite statements…
She’ll be barking at a broom 😂
I’m just grumpy cause I’m selfish 😂
Haha omg so true !!
Timmy❤
„Grumpy emoji“
Poor guy
But that was really fun to watch
Very amazing friend you have I loved him 😂👌👌☘️
I love bailey. She makes me giggle. Those high-energy puppies are so cute. Timothy excess water in the pot would properly be fine for leca/pon but not for the aroid mix. SPG, the doctor bit was cute. That plant Timothy burned, I overwatered mine in winter and the leaves all fell off.
Great video. I love to see you two and Baily.
You can do it Tim it s gonna be ok. 🤗
We’ll just try again :)
Poor Tim, chill 😂😂😂 just love them together!
I love you guys!
Thanks :)
“…and you’re running the marathon backwards…” I laughed so hard I snorted. 🤣
I recently had major heart surgery and feel like a mosspole that a brutal surgeon ripped apart with a pair of dull scissors. Great fun to watch! 🤣🤣🤣
Hope u’re recovering well 🤞🤞 thanks :)!
Tip: The cable ties have little lines at the tip. if you crimp the tip over you can fish the tie through without a stick or other tools. it makes things much easier lol
