Great greenhouse and lovely video! Don't worry about Paraiso "reverting" - their variegation depends on temperature + light. So you can expect it in summer to have beautiful variegated leaves, and in winter - green leaves :)

In the summer, I use a "screenhouse" . I just put mosquito netting on the frame of the greenhouse (I take off the plastic cover). This protects them, from too much wind, pests critters, but they still benefit from the rain and airflow, and unlikely to get overheated like they would in a greenhouse. Our winters are way too cold for them to stay outside. (St. Louis, MO, usa) I have many simple design ideas about homes where plantcare would be easier.

I don't know if it's my adhd or what, but in the time it takes you to do all the plants in this video, I am still inspecting roots and wrestling with the moss pole like a crazy person, for one single plant. 🤦🏻😫😵💫
Nice to see you again. How are your proteas and banksias doing? I hope you found a sunny spot for them. Can you speak about how to fertilize them? I think they don’t like phosphorus? Can I use regular potting soil?
Hey :) they are doing well on my balcony atm. I have not fertilised them yet but will repot them soon into a natuve mix with native slow release fertiliser. I believe they want a fairly acidic soil so don’t use regular potting soil
I think we need a video all about smelling for root rot. Come on. No one has done it, I’m sure. What does it smell like? Thanks for the video- I learn something EVERY time I watch you care for your plants. In this case, I’ve learned root rot has a special smell. Maybe you can train Brad to sniff it out.
Hello. I totally agree with you on the plant topic of Condition vs Care. Since a greenhouse is a controlled environment, the ideal would be to have an automated system that would regulate the conditions inside. Too hot, windows open and vice versa. Too cold, temperature rises and vice versa Too dry….. you get the idea This Winter I have more lights and I am switching some plants to PON. Since I do not want too much humidity I haven’t started my humidifier yet but instead, I put several containers filled with water around the place and so far no feeling of dryness and my hygrometer keeps oscillating between 60 and 65% humidity. Not too bad. Edit: can you do a plant car video for your rhipsalises
Cool Nepenthes!! A friend mainly grows Sarracenia, bit more suited for the Dutch climate... The plan is to make a small bog garden with them this or next year. Will try a Nepenthes indoors in the future, I've seen some videos of people growing them in a windowsill
My paraiso reverted as well since winter, temp is the same in here but I had her on the floor I still appreciate plants without variegation I’m only a year old plant person still, however I did just get a Thai Constellation I found for “cheap” it’s sooo pretty and not so variegated that I’ll lose leaves I sold my big normal monstera cause there were so many plants in one pot facing all directions, I repurchased one way smaller with a single stem in it and put it on a moss pole, I wanna see those mature leaves I hear you about getting to the end of the learning about growing indoors, as with anything, if I’m not learning anything new anymore about whatever it is, including work, I get bored and want to quit, I’ll have to amp my collection up at some point too, for now, I’m still learning
how do ur plants all look so healthy with those misters??? i know you have a fan in there, but i also have a fan in my plant room but the slightest bit of additional humidity and the leaves start suffering from fungal issues, makes me wanna throw the plants in the bin
You are my inspiration and my hero! My career has always involved horticulture and I, too had to 'switch it up' to stay passionate...you have done this for me. I now collect Aroids, make my own Aroid medium and moss poles! I am once again enthralled. I must ask why you don't use velcro strapping (reusable) for securing the trunks to the poles. It always makes me wince to see you use wire...I am concerned about the wire cutting into the trunks as they grow. I look forward to watching your vids...old and new...you are the retirement I can afford and you give me joy in so many ways!...New England USA has loooooonnnnngggg winters and grow lights are less expensive than heating a greenhouse! Cheers to you...x
@@sydneyplantguy I love to see your interaction with Bradley, the way you communicate with Brad brings pure joy to my heart. Thanks for sharing your daily life with us. ❤️ From 🇸🇬
Super gorgeous greenhouse with such happy lush plants! I finally put mine together after several months of having it, it’s a used greenhouse. I needed the inspo and had to look at what you’ve done to get me started. Your misters are brilliant! Do you turn off the fan when you put on the mister.? Or do you not use the fan anymore?
I am only the crazy "burn it" type when it comes to mealy bugs because they are SO EFFING HARD to get rid of in certain plants. Just the thought of mealy bugs makes me want to puke lol. But with other pests, a good dunk in soapy water and some captain jacks dead bug will do!
Soo nice your greenhouse! It’s lie a dream, really🎉 Alocasia Melo is such a pain in the ass… I am pretty good with alocasias in general, but Melo is particularly frustating
So from Trinidad and Tobago. It is not easy to source sphagnum moss here. We do get it but it's either in limited quantities or very expensive. I got some and made some moss poles; my babies have never looked better. The problem is when they outgrow the pole, I may not have any moss to extend. Is there anywhere you think I coulyd source the moss in larger quantities to import it into the island? US or UK preferably
Thanks again for reminding everyone ( keep repeating for the newbies) the difference between care and conditions and the importance of identifying the cause and effects of said conditions and getting to know each plant to be an effective grower. The misinformation coming from the big box store plants like Calathea " great beginner plant" or not even an ID just an esthetic vibe this plant will bring your space, huh? Then dont even get me started on the rediculous plant aps that supposedly set your plant chore schedule and magically tell you what your plant needs. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of being a plant parent if you're just relying on a screen time babysitter, don't you think? That might make a fun video, debunking a plant app or finding what value or accuracy one could bring? On a different note, the CCS instructions say to be careful not to get on leaves as it may deform them. I use CCS in all the ways you described, except in a sprayer for fear it would get all over. Maybe a close up shot of your spraying technique?? Great value in your content as always.😻
Haha those plant apps are so cringey :D I try (not very hard) to not get it on the leaves but definitely can't fully avoid it and haven't noticed any issues ... suppose the misters will wash the leaves very shortly after anyway so maybe that's why I haven't noticed any issues.
Love it when I can't sleep, and a new video from you pops up. 😉I've been on a plant chore kick lately. Having fun. Your greenhouse is sooo beautiful. I love it!! I'm learning and getting so inspiration from you. I'll be purchasing a home soon and I'm definitely building a greenhouse! I've been raising around 150-170 plants for a few years now, and right now, I appreciate feeling great and enthusiastic about taking care of my collection. (It's not always that way) Where I'm from, Spring is around the corner, and I'm already setting myself and my collection up for a successful season. Super excited, Lol! Much love from across the globe!❤🪴
Do you have any help on screen while filming to check lighting, like a curve for lighting for example?? That always gives me some piece of mind, knowing whether I can fix lighting a bit in post. Around 20 minutes the over exposure does not bother me, the entire shot looks fresh and it gives you a bit of "angel lighting"... our plant savior😆🙇♂
I technically do but to get everything in frame my camera is so far away, i can’t see the screen anymore 😅 when filmkng outside it’s hard because the sun keepa coming out etc so exposure constantly changes… i let the camera do its thing 😅
I thought about it but worried a body of water will just make the mossie issue worse … see how I go :) i might look into it when I have a little more time :) i got him over 6 years ago because he was just too cute! Couldn’t say no to adopting him :)
hi jan, i’ve been in love with ur greenhouse for as long as u had it it’s perfect. just one question: some plants in there seem to receive very low light and are shaded. does this affect ur growth in any way?
Hi there from Canada you’ve probably said this before but I’m wondering how do you keep your moss poles moist? Do you put a cup on the top of each one or do you water it separately? Thanks so much.
I've been planting directly in the ceramic pots I've bought (with drainage holes) but I notice you put everything in clear plastic pots. Do you have a link to the clear plastic pots you use? I see a bunch of different ones on Amazon but would love to use what you recommend.
I love the longer videos because they keep me company while I do my house or plant chores. Thanks Jan❤

I still appreciate plants without variegation I’m only a year old plant person still, however I did just get a Thai Constellation I found for “cheap” it’s sooo pretty and not so variegated that I’ll lose leaves
I sold my big normal monstera cause there were so many plants in one pot facing all directions, I repurchased one way smaller with a single stem in it and put it on a moss pole, I wanna see those mature leaves
I hear you about getting to the end of the learning about growing indoors, as with anything, if I’m not learning anything new anymore about whatever it is, including work, I get bored and want to quit, I’ll have to amp my collection up at some point too, for now, I’m still learning
how do ur plants all look so healthy with those misters??? i know you have a fan in there, but i also have a fan in my plant room but the slightest bit of additional humidity and the leaves start suffering from fungal issues, makes me wanna throw the plants in the bin
Thanks :) really hate the look of the velcro strips :D the small pieces of wire are pretty much invisible and the plant doesn't seem to suffer :)
gottcha'...I need to ask them to make brown strips!...thanks...x

Nice❤
Thanks :)
Thanks for sharing ......but where is Bradley? I love to see Brad walking around....😊
He joined us for a short time but he doean’t go out much when it’s too warm outside :)
Important to keep the airflow up when using misters so it’s on 24/7. Make sure u get a waterproof one :)
I am only the crazy "burn it" type when it comes to mealy bugs because they are SO EFFING HARD to get rid of in certain plants. Just the thought of mealy bugs makes me want to puke lol. But with other pests, a good dunk in soapy water and some captain jacks dead bug will do!
Indoors I meant thanks
Your greenhouse looks amazing, grat job!
The very first plant is it Rhipsalis paradoxa? It's beautifull!
Hey thank you:) I have no idea, was just sold to me as a Rhipsalis and I know nothing about that genus
@@sydneyplantguy ok, looks like a R. paradoxa to me:)
😍😍😍
I feel you, the motivation definitely comes in waves :) hope the new house realises all your planty dreams :) happy growing & thank you :)
@@sydneyplantguy Thanks so much!

@@sydneyplantguy can't remember noticing bad lighting in your video's so it seems trustworthy haha
have you thought about aquatic plants? A whole new world for you to explore. Also where, when and why did you get Brad?
I thought about it but worried a body of water will just make the mossie issue worse … see how I go :) i might look into it when I have a little more time :) i got him over 6 years ago because he was just too cute! Couldn’t say no to adopting him :)
hi jan, i’ve been in love with ur greenhouse for as long as u had it it’s perfect. just one question: some plants in there seem to receive very low light and are shaded. does this affect ur growth in any way?
I choose the plants accordingly :) it’s still more light than they would ever get indoors :)
❤❤❤
Hi there from Canada you’ve probably said this before but I’m wondering how do you keep your moss poles moist? Do you put a cup on the top of each one or do you water it separately? Thanks so much.
Check out my watering tutorial linked in the description :)
Can wood mulch be used as a growing media as a chunky mix with perlite/pumous?
I’m not sure but it might be treated differently causing some ph issues but ultimately that’s just a guess 🤷🏻♂️
Hai.. What vitamins name for your plants?
I've been planting directly in the ceramic pots I've bought (with drainage holes) but I notice you put everything in clear plastic pots. Do you have a link to the clear plastic pots you use? I see a bunch of different ones on Amazon but would love to use what you recommend.
I buy them in store at bunnings so no link to share sorry :/
"Imagine a drinking game..." - Im restarting the video now
:D
It shouldnt cost too much to post a 6ft plant to Birdwood S.A So glad we are friends ....God, isnt xmas time fun ? ...❤ youuuuu 😂😅
😅😅
How do you decide whether to fill the pole with moss or soil mix?
Based on what I have available, where abouts the plant is (indoors or outdoors) and the water requirement of the plant
"I'm looking for corms!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Worry about your own corms, people!
😅
Can you tell me again where your greenhouse came from. Thank you
It’s linked in the description :)
@@sydneyplantguy lol. I typed while watching. But still don't know model number
It's the Imperial 1980
