My ex-husband said he didn't like spinach, when our children were small I wanted them to experience a variety of vegetable, so I use to remove the stems of spinach then add it to the lettuce for a salad. My ex-husband never knew there was spinach in his salad. I noticed when I didn't add the spinach, our children would say the salad wasn't as good.

I have missed it so much but now I'm going to make it!!! Thank You Chef for bringing my grandmother and a piece of my childhood back to me.
That's so old-school I've got to love it. Why throw those outside lettuce leaves in the compost pile just because they are tough and ugly and no good for a salad. Do this!
Kudos to Chef's mom for making a delicious dish out of lettuce leaves that most people throw out, but I don't understand how saving a few centimes by not buying spinach helped her budget if she put this much cheese in it. 🤔🤔🤔
If there is a recipe from the Chef I haven't tied, I sure can't think of it. I always, always follow the recipes step by step (as I do with almost any new recipe). This one as well, and I can tell you it's just spectacular. It's always gratifying when you cook for loved ones and they so enjoy the food that there's little or nothing left over. Once again this recipe is no exception. I can't say enough. Just do it :)

Just in case no one knows yet, but on Chef’s website in his recipes, there are options to choose if you need to double and sometimes triple a recipe. No more calculating and wondering if the recipe would work. You don’t even know what a relief that is, it makes me happy!
Thank you so much Chef Jean Pierre. I have kidney disease and I cannot eat spinach. Your story about your mother making creamed spinach with lettuce gives me a way to still enjoy something that tastes like creamed spinach without all the oxalic acid. Thank you kind sir.
Chef Jean Pierre always makes me smile. That in itself is priceless, and I think it's safe to say that he provides so much value to others as well. I love you chef, thank you!!!

Thank you, Chef JP. Of all of the restaurants I have worked in, it would have been an absolute JOY to be a part of your staff, even as your dishwasher! :-)

Chef, I have learned so many useful tips from you. You've changed my steaks, and now my steakhouse spinach for the better! Thank you so much! Love your videos!
Thank you for doing recipes I can eat on my diabetes plan. I haven't made creamed spinach in ages. My Dad creamed and buttered everything he cooked. He made creamed onions once and we stuck our noses up! Had never even tried them...lol. Dad went to the kitchen for something and by the time he got back the whole bowl was empty....yum. I'm 75 and love almost every vegetable including wild ones thanks to my dad, we didn't ever go hungry. He taught me to cook by watching him cooking for the family. Not so much on baking, but, biy could he cook. Neighbors would show him and my oldest sister how to do a recipe and next thing you know Dad was bringing home the ingredients to make what they showed him. Someone brought Dad some fancy canned brandied peaches...Dad tasted them and took them out to the dump! He knew that the tingly feel on his tongue meant they were spoiled. The neighbor rescued his peaches before we could dump them and clean his jars...lol. So funny when Dad tried to politely tell him they were spoiled.😮😁❤
Wow, just give me the amazing kitchen! Oh yes and enjoying watching and listening to Chef Jean-Pierre, so easy and pleasant to watch. And yay that yummy butter hehe
I love Chef Jean Pierre. He is an amazing cook & he makes me happy. I laugh when he moves his fingers in front of his face. Keep up the good work & don't stop making videos🤣
Chef Jean-Pierre, I have NEVER liked or eaten spinach, I tried your recipe last night and LOVED it!!! I will be making this on a very regular basis from now on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and recipes with us❤❤❤
That is some really fancy creamed spinach! Bravo! I make a basic creamed spinach with frozen spinach. I cook it, add salt and butter and when it is warm I add half-n-half and grate a lil nutmeg. There isn't any cheese in mine but this is quick and easy for a weeknight steak dinner. Another version is frozen peas with butter, half-n-half, and nutmeg. I love the story about your mother! I grew up poor, too. There were four girls and we rarely ate out. I didn't realize my mother didn't know how to make a roux! She hated making gravy and would shake water and flour in a jar when she made stew. She hated lumpy gravy! There were some days she would make Welsh Rarebit using Campbell's cheese soup warmed up and poured over toast. We never went hungry. But the good thing about being poor is I grew up drinking milk, water, and hot or cold tea and I never acquired a taste for drinking soda. We had well water filtered through coal seams in the area so it was sweet and clean and pure (near Black Diamond, Washington state). Black Diamond was named for the coal seams.
Unbelievable texture when he cuts into it. Perfection! Spinach is full of folates and just what you want to reduce blood pressure naturally. I cam looking for spinach recipes and this one is on my list. WE are KETO and the cheese does not bother our levels but the lack of folic acid indicates even more complexity in our veggies - we are not fruit eaters. Spinach and kale, brussels sprouts and broccoli. BUT we love them all. Thank you Chef!!!
🕊Peace and Blessings! Your mother, was an amazing, wise and loving woman! Thank God for her instilling in you love and a love of cooking! Such a perpetual blessing! I made the Shepard's Pie and it was DELICIOUS!!!! I am going to make the Creamed Spinach dish later on this month. I like your for real, and cheerful attitude!!!! 😊
I love your recollections of your mama. My mum (in the UK) always made delicious food. We always gathered at her house on a Saturday to be delighted with her food. Even up until she was in her eighties.
Back in the 60's at the age of seven, I lived with my dad and grandparents. My grandmother made creamed spinach at least once a week usually with Sauerbraten and spaetzles - my favorite. One day in third grade I went to the school nurses office with a stomach ache. She asked what I had for breakfast. Her expression was priceless when I told her I had leftover sauerbraten, fried spaetzles w/eggs and a side of creamed spinach. Aghast she asked what I had to drink which of course was a cup of😢 coffee with sugar and goats milk.
I love when you share these beautiful memory with us!! This one was funny yet very cute. You had a smart mom to save and make use of foods when things are financially tight.❤️❤️
One of my favorite ways to eat spinach. Thank you, Chef Jean-Pierre, for sharing your recipe. And, thank you for sharing your ingenious technique with the ricer to quickly drain the water from spinach. Now, I can think of other ways to use a ricer. Like pressing roasted tomatoes in my ricer to separate the skins from the seeds to make sauce. Yay!

You know he’s a cook, because right around 914, while he’s stirring one pot, his other arm, naturally, and instinctively touches the other pan where the milk was. Now what this means is he’s used to cooking many dishes at once and when you do that, for so long, you naturally, and instinctively check the other pans to make sure they’re not burning or. at what stage they’re cooking. ❤❤

Love the creamed lettuce story from your childhood! ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Your Mom is a legend! So glad we get to learn about her through you! 💚🙏🕊
Chef, you put the fun in fundamental.
Creamed spinach is what my German Grandmother OMA made for us. Love it!!
Wow, just give me the amazing kitchen! Oh yes and enjoying watching and listening to Chef Jean-Pierre, so easy and pleasant to watch. And yay that yummy butter hehe

Chef Jean-Pierre, I have NEVER liked or eaten spinach, I tried your recipe last night and LOVED it!!! I will be making this on a very regular basis from now on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and recipes with us❤❤❤
Thanks
Thank you 🙏
This reminded me of my Grandmother in Lille and my Mum. God Bless you Chef. Food is family.
Love seeing this channel grow and improve the production value! Good camera work Jack!
I absolutely adore the story about your mom using lettuce and making creamed spinach 🤣 mom's are superheroes!
👍👍👍❤️
i also use nettles or silver beet without the ribs. Both tastes just like spinach.
I’ve always loved cream spinach this recipe makes me so happy! I can’t wait to make it 👍🏼👍🏼

My first time viewing Chef Pierre and I absolutely love his energy. Stop because I love Spanish and now I got a new Chef and recipe. Thanks
I made this dish and it was heavenly!! This recipe will become a treasured family favorite!
That's priceless. I love it. Your grandma and dad obviously good people
So wish I could have seen the nurses face 😁
😳🙄😒Haha
I love when you share these beautiful memory with us!! This one was funny yet very cute. You had a smart mom to save and make use of foods when things are financially tight.❤️❤️
I have so enjoyed all your videos and have learned so much from you. Please keep them coming!!
Yay!
JACK!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You always make these videos HILARIOUS!!!!! Love the Jean-Pierre transitions you use in between the scenes. Shame on you Chef for picking on poor little ole' Jack!!! 😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣 Can't get enough of the Chef and Jack show!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥💗💗💗💗😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I would have had trouble not eating that stuff right out of the pot and just forgetting about the oven altogether! 😍😋 Great Video!
My husband knows I love spinach and cheese.
He made this for me for Valentine's ❤
So good! Thank you!
The potato ricer hack for squeezing the water out of spinach is fkn brilliant. I was a pro cook and Chef for years and I never saw that before. This man is non-stop wonderful on every level. God love him. And this community.
Biggest potato ricer I’ve ever seen! Chef sized!

I love how you put lemon and orange zest in so many dishes.
Oooh...I loved the story about your dear mother's creamed 'spinach' dish...hehehe...wonderful!!! I bet escarole would make an excellent creamed 'spinach' dish too!!! Thank you so much, Chef Jean-Pierre! 💗💗💗
