Great vid my earth prong in the light cluster was non existent and had melted/jammed in the connector, great idea to reuse the 3 good connections just used a straight pick to release the connections pretty straight forward to replace the damaged connection a little bit of a fiddle , made sure I didn’t touch the bulbs when I put them in the new cluster used a tissue a great helpful vid.
Really helpful video which helped immensly but I would add two further things to be aware of - 1) purple sealing strip must be pulled out, not completely but at least 3mm otherwise pins will not enter into plugs completely and 2) pins must be orientated correctly to ensure locking clip locates into slot in plug - this allows the pin to be released and removed if inserted incorrectly - otherwise a great help which enable me to resolve a problem that I otherwise, would not have been aware of - Cheers Malcolm.
Malcolm, Exactly the same problem for me. Followed all your guide and fixed easily. Thank goodness guys like you take the time to post this stuff. Well done!
I have the same problem with my 435i. I had the right side fixed at a shop a couple of years back. This time I am going to fix the left side by myself after watching your video. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Hi Malcolm, I have this issue on my 2014 435. Bought the parts and same plug was shorted. Assembled according to the video. Issue is the larger bulb wasn't going off for turn signal. The smaller bulb was going off for brake light. I though maybe I swapped the wires in error so switched the only two that I thought I could have gotten wrong (of the three prong set the middle and outer). So now the smaller bulb goes off for both brake light and turn light and the larger bulb does nothing. Which is an improvement but not ideal. Any ideas what might be going on?
Hard to say to be honest. In my own experience, BMWs with filament bulbs seem to suffer these cluster issues, but I’ve never had an LED equipped one (so most LCI models) have the same issue. My fathers E39 and E60 had issues with constant bulb warnings, and now this on my F32, all running filament bulbs. My previous LCI E46 with LEDs was completely fine for the 12 years I owned it 🤷🏼♂️
For people still using this video, the car being worked on is a pre-LCI car. If you have a 440i, or 340i, or 240i, you have an LCI car. Anything ending in the more conventional BMW naming nomenclature (235i, 335i, 435i) will find this video useful.
I Got this same issue today on my BMW 428 2014 I went to a repair shop that guy put new bulbs but same problem again he told me its the wire issue I booked appoint at BMW Now for next friday Can you please tell me proper name of that part i can’t find it

Thanks. Helped me in a similar pickle!!
Do you have to unhook battery for this fix??
Wish we could see what's going on
Repaired everything and my brake light is still not working
Is this just on pre-LCI?
