- In this video I show you how to diagnose and fix a "burned out" rear running light on a 2015 BMW X3. My issue was a faulty LED controller chip, located on the back side of the taillight. I purchased a new chip on Amazon which fixed the problem. Hope this helps!

You definatley walked me through it, i got the right board...2 things made this easy: 1) the existing board is hot pressed in so i zip tied the new board to it without heating out the old board. 2) The nut to remove the fixture is 8mm...2 small details to make an easy job even easier-Thanks again.
I can't push the the whole tail light out?????
You just saved me $400+ my man! Thanks.
$400? Bro saved me $8k tail light replacement according to the scam bmw dealership who tried to rip me off. $64 dollar chip saves the day
Directions were easy to follow and gave me the confidence to try this repair on my own, and I’m pleased to say it worked perfectly! Total time of the fix was like 5 minutes. Thanks for making this video!
Looks like my car, discs and cart always ready to go 😂 thank you for the video! Now to order parts
Thank you. I was able to watch your video here in Korea and easily do maintenance. This video really shows the power of UA-cam.
just replaced the chips on my 2012 BMW X3 F25 tail lights. Was super easy.
What chips did you order? I have this problem too 😊
I watched this two days ago and fixed it by myself tonight. It was easy and saved me a lot of money.
0:35 Lifetime of the vehicle is 60k miles according to BMW. I asked my service advisor about the transmission fluid lifetime.
Great work, just changed one on the tail and one on the side. Thanks for the video.
Love that you found a workaround!
Good clear explanation helped throw light on the matter and, once I'd bought a couple of the chips and fitted them, also on the road. Many thanks.
Awesome video! I was able to take my lights out on the tailgate because they were not working but I don’t have the Lcd controller chip on my vehicle also no wires besides the ones connected to the taillight. I changed the mini bulb and still nothing. Could this be a fuse? If so could you tell me the location of the fuse? I have a 2016 bmw x3
Is it likely to be the same procedure for a 2018 bmw x1?
Thanks mate, just fixed mine with the help of this video and the parts link. Thanks heaps mate.
Appreciated! Mine just went out and figured it’d be an easy fix but wanted to watch a tutorial to be sure
Same on 2016 x1, any idea?
Any suggestions where to get same part for X1 2016 model . Seems only available for X3.
Do you know why mine may not have the smaller wiring that’s connected there?
Do you need special tool for removing the screw or a phillips head screwdriver would do the job?
I have a 2015 X3. I pulled out the taillight as you did but I do not have the wire for the controller. Is there another fix.
Awesome Walk-Through.
Thanks man, this was very helpful.
Hi, do you know if theirs a fuse for angel eye headlights? Thanks
I had a big argument with my South Florida BMW service advisor as he kept saying this is for European X3 versions. Ended up doing this myself.
I have the same response from my dealer ,
My tailgate light doesn't have this chip , I have no idea how to fix it and even tho I took my car to some shops and they kept telling me it's an European style car 🤦🤦
Hello, what kind of screw driver i have to buy? I am trying to remove mine too but i don't have the tools. Thank you
Cost on that chip and where to locate?
great video, can i use the same module/chip for BMW x1, 2016, F48?
I seen them on Amazon aswell but I’m curious to know if your hearing any buzzing through your radio with that type of chip board off Amazon ?
so easy!! many thanks
Hello! This kit repaird can be used also on Bmw 2 series 2016 active tourer,F45?I have the same issue
You can repair the board easily or replace it. All it is LED "driver". The board just puts resistance between the 12V input and the LED light. They also add caps to prevent flickering as the voltage changes.
I like your Dave mattehews band sticker ✌️
So besides amazon where can I get the chip bc I need it fixed ASAP
A few of my bulbs seem to broken which is weird. Do you know what kind of Amazon I would need. They want to charge me 1800 bucks. They said my break and signal work just when it’s running lights don’t work.
It worked for me. Thanks.
Do I see disc golf discs? LFG!!! Also thanks for the video
Great video! Have you done much more to the golf recently?
worked for me
Really useful video - thank you.
I like the power tailgate
What is the chip called?
Just did this. Two replacement driver boards $12 from ebay. 10 minutes fix time.
I hope these will work on my 2012 bmw x 3 tail running lights don’t work .
Excelente ! si me ayudó 👍
Those taillights did not come with the original vehicle. They are cheap halogen lights that are not compatible with the circuitry… which is why they don’t work, and you need the b003809.2 conversion… the light you’re so clearly showing us is a halogen light, not LED.
@@prokrastnation6071 Thanks for the comment. Thats incorrect but it doesn’t seem like you’d like to have a genuine converaation. Hope your day gets better.
❤
I couldn’t push my light out that easy I’m super frustrated
Same, ever get it figured out?
You’d probably figured out 10 months ago. I had the same issue. A simple pry with the trim remover solved it. I was initially equally frustrated as well.
RE-SOLDER the R750 chip, thank me later. This is the fix on the OEM Valeo LED chip board.
