That is so cool! I’m definitely getting one for my BMW. 1 button press to close the boot would be great. And I do have power folding mirrors. Turning off the start stop by default is brilliant too. Great video, thanks!
@@Pipsicle330 will buy this and bimmer app now just for that alone also the 1 push boot close will be nice rather then holding down same with my electric mirrors
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru I agree about the dials not displaying 30, 50 etc. daft. And I didn’t know about the non folding mirrors which I can also see annoying me! Aside from that, looking forward to driving it.
Obd bought and coming tomorrow 😂 will be worth it alone just to turn off stop start 😀 and would also like to turn off my lights completely while still having the engine running 👍 no doubt a few other small things 😀
I have never played around with one of those scanner gizmos. Looks to be very straightforward to use too. I have no doubt a dealer would charge a small fortune to make the coding changes you did in a few minutes yourself...........certainly more than the cost of the scanner and the app.
Fyi, it would take a long, long time to drain the battery using the odb tool :) It's probably at most couple hundred mA at 12V, so if you battery is 100Ah then you will have anywhere from 200-1000 hours of usage before you are flat, assuming no quiescent current from the rest of the car.
I had one of these plugged into my Ford Ranger and it drained a significant amount of power, to the point I received a warning over night. So it does drain the battery if left in.
A really good insight and well put-together video production for Coding with a Bimmer. Excellent, Thank You. One question! If in receipt of a new BMW, via Lease, PCP, HP, etc, then choosing to code with a Bimmer while under contract, are there contractual, liability concerns to be aware of?
Thanks for this mate, I didn't know that this was something I could do myself, the digital speedo and turning off the head unit when opening the drivers door are worth the cost of this alone. Slightly off topic, do you know if there is a way to upgrade the system to allow me to use android auto? (I have 2019 4 series gran coupe)
Not that I know of mate, you can quite easily get Apple CarPlay coded though (unfortunately you need to use a specialist for this though, these dongles wont do it).
I know this is an old video but I’m trying to use BimmerCode to update my head unit but as I’m going through the app, the HMI ID version is nowhere to be found when I’m in expert mode
I'm not an expert on it mate but this video suggests that you can, will likely depend on your iDrive version and car model/year - ua-cam.com/video/pCHhFfDc9Do/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BMWCar-Bike
Ready to buy one of these now. Is the Bimmercode App for the phone free? There seems to be a pay option on it but I presume all the basic stuff is standard. Cant wait to deactivate the parking sensors when the bike rack is on! Cheers for uploading this video
It’s also drives me crazy that I can’t turn off the rear parking noise when the bike rack is on the tow bar. I wonder if there’s an option for that too?
Hello mate big fan of your you tube channel quick question I've got a 2 series gran tourer on a 68 plate & I just cannot find how you set your dash so that It shows you miles to empty all I'm getting is mpg so frustrating 🤔many thanks awaiting your reply 👍🏼
Thanks buddy. I’m selling the 4 series at the moment due to my work changing so maybe you should just buy that? Problem solved! Seriously though, I’m not sure how it works on the 2 series but from what I understand there are 2 trip computers. I just got this advice from a forum…. “Switch to "On Board Info" rather than "Trip Computer" and it will display miles to empty on the iDrive screen.” Hope that helps
Lol just bought the 2 series To fit all my kids in it don't think the 4 series will work for me mate🤣 So do you know how to get the miles to empty display on my dashboard?plz
Can the range fuel meter be programmed to stay on rather than go off when you access it. I like to see how many miles I have left before fueling up again rather than relying on the analogue visuals.
Well, this was surprisingly interesting . It would be worth buying a BMW if I could get it to do my tax return, laundry and well, generally go to work for me 🙂. Could you use that thingummy to search for faults on the car 🚗 so that you’re forewarned before listening to the guff some mechanics may spout? There is and option for during trailer operation if that helps
