Civilization V Leader | Casmir III of Poland
- King Casimir III, the only Polish king to earn the subsequent title of "the Great," reigned during the 14th Century AD and established himself as a decisive and able ruler, relying on his skill in diplomacy and sensible decision-making to greatly improve the well-being of his people and security of his kingdom. Although Casimir's predecessor, his father King Wladyslaw I, was respected for having reunited the divided realm, Casimir inherited a kingdom rife with challenges. In rebuilding a depleted economy, strengthening the military, codifying the law, and expanding the borders of Poland, Casimir left his country much better than he found it - and sealed his legacy as one of Poland's greatest kings. By the time of his death, Casimir III had assured the prestige and respect of Poland throughout medieval Europe.

I like how the other leaders talk in different languages, but since I grew up learning Polish it's just strange understanding Casmir.
+Sahib Rahman nope thats modern polish
normally, but i think actor who is dubbing Casimir is picked wrong, they should take man with lower and calmer voice
Właśnie, tutaj brzmi jak jakiś Paźdioch
+kapitan19969838 XDDD
Same, but with Catherine from Russia. I am natively Russian.
0:44 *Moje armie zetrą Cię w proch!* The weird thing is that even when you don't speak Polish, you still can understand at least two words as a native English Speaker here if you are a good listener. Despite the fact that English is a Germanic language. Considering that what he said means "My armies will grind you to dust!"
Oczywiście :)
xd? That doesn't make any sense
Christian Shelton The was majority of the languages in Europe come from a single ancient language. Hence why there are so many similar sounding words in European languages.
Fankas2000 ...which is called proto indo european.
We are all Indo-Europeans
Here's are the dialogues of the leader's words:
1. I, Casimir the Great, welcome you to the lands of the Great Kingdom of Poland.
2. Let's hear it... Good.
3. No.
4. Proceed. Absolutely Not.
5. My armies will grind you to dust!
6. A hundred times, no.
Mariusz Krawczyk A to ci nowość :P
MazakGaming Long live the Commonwealth and Polish democracy! Regards from China
Translation:
"I, Casimir the Great, welcome you on the lands of the mighty Polish Kingdom."
"I'm listetning"
"Alright."
"No."
"Continue."
"Absolutely not."
"My armies will trample you to dust!"
"The hundreth time, no!"
Loosely translated - I'm Polish.
"Dobrze"
Polan can into space.
Johann Gaius isiNwinga Zulu Ahuitcoyotzin Hirohito en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirosław_Hermaszewski :P
Johann Gaius isiNwinga Zulu Ahuitcoyotzin Hirohito WTF IT's the most stupid meme i ever heard
Nice joke
love that music
'Cause Austrians were introduced earlier and during that time Firaxis probably doesn't think about adding Poland to Civ5. They give them red-white colors to be distinctive for other civs. When they released Poland that color scheme was already taken, so they decide to give Poland vermillion-granite scheme, for the sake of distinctiveness (althought I think that vermillion-silver would be better scheme).
No, he is in Poland know only as Casimir III the Great (Kazimierz III Wielki), not the Bigest (Największy). But you have right, he was really tall.
The pun is real
"jaaaaaak ci się podoooooba moja ofeeeerta?" This phrase (trade offer) isn't here but I hate how the voice actor elongates all the vowels in it
Jezus, Dude, what is that last name??
daan mollema common polish surname ;)
Yes, im from Poland and i think he's voice is like voice from polish dubbing in cartoons :D
Look in the background, behind Casimir.. They got it right in at least the leader scene.
Presumably because: a) Austria came first (G&K vs BNW), so they made Austria without thought for Poland's colours b) Austria's modern flag and medieval colours are both red-white-red, c) Firaxis always use the same two colours for the arms/logo/icon as they do for the culture borders, and d) two white eagles on a red background would be very confusing (and when you include England, there would be three countries white+red culture borders).
Why do I hear Christmas Carol in the background?
Damn, i understand half of his words.
Polish sounds on 70% russsian lol. As russian I've understood almost everything he said lol :D
Well they're both slavic languages :P
I get the same feeling with Russian (I'm Polish)
Evilinkoff That's the Slavic similarity. As a Serb I understand him very well.
Evilinkoff I am Slovak and I understand him as well :) (fluent in Czech, understand Russian and to some degree the southern Slavic languages as well :) That is great about the Slavic people, we are like one big family :)
I agree.
Well, I guess Żupan and Kontusz are much older than I thought...
Damn, the VA has a very strong American accent.
ABSOLUTELY NYET ! lol
It's "Absolutnie nie"
ramio1983 NIE
I don't know about other civ leaders but this version of native (Polish) language is wrong. He speaks with MODERN Polish while Polish people in The Late Middle Ages spoke in Old Polish which was more similar to Czech language when it comes to pronunciation. Modern day Polish stress or acute accent on the next to last syllable. In The Late Middle they were stressing on the first syllable.
Casimir's name in Spanish is Casimiro, which sounds like "casi miro" (I almost look).
By the way he has a funny voice.
Casimir III is incapable of a Science Victory.
why?
+Robert House - Nop, becouse Poland cannot into space xD
+Retrograde Motion It can. Poland had a successful astronaut and is currently developing countless spaceship/station components. This meme joke doesn't make any sense
oh kurwa someone can't get memes :(
Czy ja wiem, akcent brzmi "sredniowiecznie"
I have only one question: why polish eagle in this game is black and austrian white???
@0:00 you should be happy u have a new friend
what was taken? they should just switch colors between austria and poland
0:35 subtitles : Maybe enother time speech :Absolutly not
look closer, its behind him
wHy could we not get John Sobieky!?
"O STOKROĆ NIE"
He have some right. This look like dungeon or castle at night...
0:35 sounds like "absolutely no"
Trzeba przyznać , przepych kwestii powala -.-
Dlaczego w tle jest kolęda ,,Bóg sie rodzi"? :D
Much better than his great niece Jadwiga in Civilization VI
well, he isn't called the great for no reason now is he
Well... He's not bad in his speech, it sounds... strangely american? Well, at least it's not like Jadwiga from VI where... I have no Idea what she was doing, she spoke like a Polish woman, but the intonations of her voice were like that of an alien that learns through mimicry and hasn't quite figured out what's a "Normal" speech pattern yet
*READ IF YOU ARE FOREIGNER*
Before scrolling down / writing "did he say absolutely nyet" or something like that - don't do it. He said "absolutnie nie" which means the same, but for Poles writing something like this is offensive, so yeah...don't do it.
Noticing similarities between words from two different slavic languages equals being offensive? You heard it here first people, you are not allowed to mishear, misunderstand or the like when it comes to languages, especially languages you do nit speak or else this person here will be offended. You wouldn't want to offend a random polish guy on the internet would you? Oh the horror of such a thing! Hiw dare you even consider offending mister Karol? Have you any idea who he is? He is a polish person on the internet! Can any of you claim anything even remotely worthy of respect? I didn't think so!
Weź se waćpan idź w chuj i wstydu nam polakom oszczędź, dorośnij i zmądrzej zanim znów swą głupią jadaczkę otworzysz
Laziness of game developers. If it had changed, everyone would be happy. Not only Poles (like me) and Austrians.
did he just said "absolutely nyet" there?
Wira SW Absolutnie nie.
"absolutely nye" more like this. It mean "Of course not"
They didn't do their research.
Hi dan
0:51 Po stokrocz nie!
Yes! My national leader! And his language is pretty good :D
GJ Daniel!
Who ask Ha Ha
Tylko jedno w głowie mam.
Koksu pięc gram.
I know, I was joking....
In my game, he looks like a blind guy. ._.
I don't speak much Polish, but his accent sounds weird to me.
It bugs me that Poland have black eagle in c5. This is huge faux pas...
Bartek R O.O Taaaak ...
"Po stokrocz nie."
Yeah right and Casimir wasn't so short in Poland he is named Casimir the Bigest becouse he was the tallest king in this time
Im polish
Bo to main soundtrack Polski.
watch?v=eMCqfZLlYxY tu jest cały
Thats not russian, its "Nie"
0:35 Absolutely Niet :D
But Austrian eagle is black, and Polish white... Firaxis could only change the colors of them. This is laziness, for my.
I don't know but... it's just so wrong... ;/
The strangest thing is that Casimir was 'great' mostly because he was very high. His politics used to be mostly peaceful (with the exception of one, victorious campaign) and he screwed his job as left no legal heir (having loads of bastards)- thus he was the last king of Piast dynasty. If any Polish king deserves this title, it is certainly Boleslav I, most often called 'the brave' (but in medieval polish, kievan and german chronicles is called 'the great')- true conqueror (he tripled his realms territory), good diplomat (grandfather of thre scandinavian kings) and the first one with crown on his head.
I dont know, from what I know Casimir did a great many things for Poland internally, building up the economy, funsidng the first academy, buuilding up forts, Honestly i respect much more a ruler who strenghend Poland internally, in peace, then a conqueror,
+Smok While he was surely a skilled ruler, Bolesław expansionist policy almost lead to complete collapse of country after his death.
Casimir make Poland three times bigger than it was before.
And Bolesław make many enemies, that he's son Mieszko 2 payed for.
Polish language is russian +english but they would dissagree and say ansolutely niet
Dominic *absolutnie nie. Russian is similiar to polish, becouse we are fucking slavs, kurwa. ANUUU CHEEKI BREEKI, Hard Vodka, Gopniks and stuff. And hardbass.
vodka is polish you idiot xd
Artykulacja dla Amerykanów.
KURWAAA BLACK EAGLE WHAT THE SHIT IS THIS ?!?!??!?!
Głos aktora niestety nie pasuje do wizerunku utworzonego, chociaż mówi poprawną polszczyzną.
Też tak myślałem ale usłyszałem głos Jadwigi w Civ 6 i zmieniłem zdanie ;_;
Ja też. Jej głos to tragedia ;-;
