There is Hasegawa Starfighter in market and this came to reclaim its crown. on the outside merits are not riveted wings and option for open electronics bay behind the cockpit and radar. There is option to put the cockpit open or closed too as well as speed brakes. Flaps can be posed up or down and there is wing tip option when wingtip tanks or missiles are not installed. I like that there is these options and potentially Cartograph decals sounded good. I'm not sure about the decal colors, and there is no stencil data or even decal for instrument panel, as it would need one as there is no dials in the gauges. There is also a small photo-etch fret witch provide for example harnesses to the ejection seat.
Instructions are black and white, but they are quite clear with some focused view pictures. Some options are not explained clear enough though, so you have to use some references. Plane went together very easily as modern plane should. There are not much ejector pin marks in the places that would show.
I'm quite very with the model, but I have to build Hasegawa one before I decide if I should build another Kinetic Starfighter.

The weathering is so exaggerated that it looks more like an abandoned plane than an active duty one 😂
Brilliant! I do want to build an Italian star fighter after seeing one on holiday there last year. Your paint job is inspirational.
Thanks! Hasegawa has also made S-version. Look for my comparison video, for Hasegawa vs. Kinetic
A very well executed build and weathering finish on the F104, best regards from Australia and you have yourself another subscrber.
absolutley beautiful build !!!!!!
A very lovely Spillone!!
Very well done!!!
Fantastic..... !!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
CREDO CHE IL MODELLISTA A TROPPO ESAGERATO CON LE PANNELLATURE NON HO MAI VISTO UN F-104 S IN QUESTE CONDIZIONI
Exelent Job ! I just have found slides and comments too fast.. had to stop video few times..
Thanks for comment I have to lengthen the sides in the longer comments in future...
Very good!
Please...1/48 Kinetic Mirage IIIE
I could if I had that in my stash, I only have Mirage IIIc from HobbyBoss, quite a different kit 🤔
@@mt221174 In "Combat Aircraft Magazine" c'erano alcune belle foto. Ma puoi trovarne alcuni anche online. Buona fortuna con la tua build!
What is the syringe type thing you were using when applying decals to the pylons?
It was water pencil with Micro set / sol in it. I knocked the decal solution over so many times that I nicked this idea from somewhere..
Good job, but the realization is not correct : is too dirty, the weathering is too marked and the missiles configuration is wrong. Usually ours Starfighters flying with fuel tanks at the end of the wings and one sidewinder and one aspide (italian version of sparrow) under the wings. This is the real configuration of ours interceptors. They did't flew with this configuration, it was possible but too heavy.
Thanks for comment, but in my opinion Italian planes are extremely dirty (I'm planning to make Eurofigter in future). My missile layout is not wrong, but it is not typical, which was as you stated, but boring to my taste. An maximum loadout according to my references was four sidewinders, two aspides and wingtip tanks. I saw this kind of configuration in picture and I think it looks good. And Italian Starfighter was the only one that could carry Sparrow missiles, so I wanted to put that layout. I just don't want every Starfighter to look the same..
@@TV-ez4md that missile layout is not use from ours interceptors because is heavy. It was possible to see it during air shows abaut static display, but not flying. Modelling must shows the reality, but if you prefer that configuration is ok because modelling is enjoyment. Is true, the italian starfighters livery was warn and show all signs of wear above all at the end of their service and above all in bases in south Italy but they were maintained regularly. That weathering it is bit exaggerated, but if you like it is ok.
@@gianlucacottone737 Ok, good to know. Let this be on static display then 😁. This was my interpretation of those most dirty birds. Perhaps my next Italian Starfighter will be without armament and totally clean 🤔
A bit overweathered. More subtle blending in would make it look better.
Thanks for comment! There were some planes that had really stark panel edges. And today there are some Eurofighters the same way, I wonder why..
Are they that dirty in real life?
This is my vision of late Italian Starfighter. Perhaps this is too dirty for Starfighter, it is combination of several F-104S that was on the reference book or on the net
Unrealistic !
