You gotta turn the zip tide on the flat side slapping on the weed you're trying to whack at. The physical property of the material was never designed to bend that way in the first place. That's why it keeps breaking.
LMFAO the way you just get excited and run outside on your tippy toes and break the string instantly. It’s even funnier because I’m going though the same thing.
I'm sure the reason why you're having a hard time with the string is because of the type of head you're using. I would use a head that requires winding the string around a spool. Like the Echo SpeedFeed Head, you feed a string through until both sides have equal lengths and twist the head! It would last a couple of days.
I remember one time I ran out of trim line. I was almost done with the job so I tied some bailing wire onto my weed eater haha. Worked pretty good for awhile, & I was cutting thru some thick/heavy weeds.
All good until it ends up stuck through your leg. I used some tiny steel cable made for hanging picture frames one. It worked pretty well but the ends start to fray badly. Pivot pro head is my favorite. String last forever.
If you value you time........ go buy a real trimmer. Red max, stihl, husqvarna, echo etc etc. or replace the head with one that feeds string. The secret is good string. I recommend Red max string. Very good. I think what would help you is keep it out of the concrete. Even the toughest won’t hold up too long to fence or concrete
+Halfdollar 86 all about being on a budget for me. Just went and got a new $99 trimmer that is working well for me. If I had unlimited funds I would probably go get a Stihl. I am now using the Badger Head trimmer head that I LOVE

Batteries always die and go out. I have countless cordless drills that are useless bcuz the batteries are dead...then the batteries cost almost as much as a new drill. If you use no ethanol jas in your trimmer and store it properly over winter just about all of them will last forever
The secret isnt the type of line your using. Its how you use the wipper snipper. I buy cheap line from iga and i cant do my whole yard with 1 or two cut offs.
Did this several years ago had the same results also I would not recommend using steel cable & bought a 4 string aftermarket trimmer head from Home Depo & I some time double up on Trimmer line meaning 2 string lines per outlet I think the trimmer head was about $20 I got really tired of winding in spool type Toro or Ryobi. This method is a lot faster & a person can precut several of them in few minutes place in pockets & reload when required.
0:18 I use to have that model, 10 years ago. And now I got a curve shaft. Those weed eaters are my childhood favorites. 0:28 $79 ain't too bad for that trimmer. Because Tractor Supply Co. use to have those models for $99.99 each.
Hey bro, good idea, I think it would have worked if you ran the zip tie through the channels and zipped them with the resilient side facing out. You had them sideways through the holes you drilled, that's why they kept snapping.
i now use zip ties and regular trimmer string and run them both together..great combo and one set will usually last the entire yard..i cut a section of trimmer string and knot it so it will stay in place...no more winding a mess of string and beating my trimmer to death trying to get it to come out.
Too funny! The problem is, those zip ties don’t flex the way they need to flex, so instead they just break off. Try getting a “Speedfeed 400” for your trimmer. That seems to be the way to go. If it will adapt to your line trimmer, it’s easy peazy to put line in.
What about an appropriate diameter steel cable instead of zip tie or plastic trimmer line?. Do what you did with the hole and zip tie but just flair one end of each steel cable so it cannot slip out the hole then it's easy to replace once it does wear down. I really think this is a winner. I'm going to try this as I'm tired of messing with my trimmer head also..poison ivy, oak etc have to wash my hands after I mess with the head every time..this would stop that plus all the buying of expensive string.

Try not locking the zip ties, just let them sit in there, the bigger end will prevent them from sliding out. It's the fastening of the zip ties that's causing them to break too much tension. You're welcome.
Slow down the rpm's around the concrete dude, and save your sanity, 250 rpm will still cut the grass but going full speed 6k rpm will just destroy your line on the concrete every-single-time
Your problem is you are using the whole string. Use just the edge or tip whatever you want to call it to cut. You don’t run the metal head against the concrete you use just the tip of the string I bet it will last FOREVER if you do it the right way.
Also only helps to soak in water the string that is not currently on the head by storing in a bag of water ieca ziploc sandwich bag any brand works for the nylon soaks up .. up to 10 or even 20 percent of its weight by the water being soaked up after about 24 to 72 hours so one or two days depending how old and thick the line is
