I'm not in the architecture field (I'm an engineering student), but this channel has given me quite a lot of inspiration from a design perspective and these are some of my favorite videos on UA-cam. The detail and production value is unrivaled. Keep it up, 30x40!
That intro paired with the music at 0:35 is phenomenal. It's the exact music I would expect to hear if I was entering The Quarantine Chapel for the first time. Your work is so inspiring. Cheers, Tim
Just started playing around on procreate and your brush pack is great! I wasn’t getting enough use out of my iPad Pro the last couple of weeks and it’s been great to have something new to create with. If anyone is trying to draw windows or glazed surfaces I discovered the rad vintage brush in the subtractive blend mode is perfect
Thank you Eric, been a very stressful few months with the buisness disappearing before my eyes with clients drop off and projects on hold... hopefully they will come back! I’m taking this time to reflect and reset myself and hopefully relight the Atelier in 2021.. But I too have been using this time to design my garden office. Refocus who my clients are and want to them to be and finally start using revit! Another tool to present with that I don’t need but feel the commercial pressure to learn it. Thank you for being their in the background and keep it real. Ps loved the deep thought music. Keep up the good work.
Sorry to hear these challenging times have affected business for you Barry! A winnowing of the project load can be a welcome reset for the business even if it's attended with the pain of lost revenues. I've been keeping an eye out for your videos...skip the Revit (blech!)...document the process of designing your garden office...share it with us (and your future clients). Cheers mate...I'm pulling for you...
Great video Eric! You inspire any architect who is neck-deep in boring design management to get back to the drawing boards. A much-needed tutorial on Procreate. Love it. And thanks for sharing!!
This guy's opening a door for me,his voice is earnest and invites me to want to listen and accompany his exploratory process. He's not coming from 'Hey look at how wonderful I am!' I listened and was inspired to reinvent my sketching process via a Samsung tabA I was given at work.Squaring the circle of 3D sketching into vectored SW I can see as a possibility now..that's a BIG door!
I have never regretted this $20 for your Procreate Pack! I love it so much! Thank you Eric, and i swear I have always looked up to you, being an architecture student for 3 years, I always look forward to new technology and for history theory critique design thinking. Thank you once again :)
This was one of the most quietly inspiring things I've seen in months. Yes, I sketch. No, I'm not an architect. Yes, I have an iPad, but I'm a long time iOS/iPadOS/macOS developer. Thank you. It's been rough.
That’s a brilliant sketch! One tip though. Once you hold the pencil to draw a straight line, touch the screen with another finger (without leaving the pencil) that will snap to a perfect right angle. :)
Your editing has gotten so much better over the years. That intro + reverse timelapse was genius.... as was the rest of this video. Thank you for continuing to crack the window into your process and inspiring and instructing through this platform. Also that pencil has changed my life.
Always enjoy watching and listening to your videos as I find them very stimulating and inspiring. In another life I was an old fashioned Draughtsman who moved on through 2d cad into 3D modelling and BIM. I now have an iPad and am exploring what I can do with it, mostly cars and things. What struck me about this particular video was the brushes you used and the scale figure but in addition, having a room underground presents a number of issues with weather conditions and the impact it would have on the structure. California or Arizona might be the ideal climate and I am sure that is what you have in mind. Love the concept, style and use of the tools. I recently scratchbuilt a Cement Works for my model railway at a scale of 1:76 from matte card and textured papers and I know that watching some of your earlier videos on model building inspired me. Keep it up and I am looking forward to your next project📐🖍
Please create more of these design development process thru sketching!! It’s so educational for architectural students like me! Construction details! Concepts! Programmed! Etc
I really admire you Architect Eric and definitely i'll be considered as one of the influential persona who give such an inspiration specifically on the relationship of architecture towards different aspects of its surroundings (tangible or non-tangible/explicit or implicit) which are exhibited by your informative video contents. Kudos! A warm greetings from the Philippines!
you're always such an inspiration for an architecture student like me... I watched and loved all of your videos, keep it up Eric! Many people like me really appreciate it. I was wondering to what extent Procreate replaced your physical sketchbook? Did it completely replace it, or is it just another tool in your box? Greetings and stay safe!
Cheers, ty...the iPad is just another tool it hasn't replaced the sketchbook, but since it's new I'm enjoying exploring how different its capabilities are as compared to paper sketching. Split is still 50/50 on paper vs. digital.
i just finished my first year as an architect student and a we heavily focused on sketching and learning how to communicate our ideas through plan, elevation, and section drawings. this was very insightful, so thank you so much for taking us through your creative process!!!
This is feeling very Bob Ross for architectural sketching! Love it. Great to hear the thinking and watch the process at the same time. Like telling and drawing a story.
I took a break from my plasma cutter work on my hot rolled steel wood stove heat shield for the Modern Cabin and found this to be a nice mental break. Thanks Eric
handwork just at a different scale...love it...and, slightly jealous of the plasma cutter...i'd like to make some steel shelves for the studio...long distance collab?
Thanks for demonstrating your commitment to quality as a value of your practice and brand. We need more of this in the world! ...Also as a civil engineer from a northern climate, I'm cringing thinking about designing the drainage, snow removal, tree roots, green roof irrigation, frost protection and roof support.. :).
Watching while completely mesmerized. A feeling I’ve only experienced while watching Bob Ross. Did you ever think, you would one day have the same impact as Bob Ross? Hope this idea ^ is as mind blowing of idea as it is to me
As a recently chartered architect who is considering going solo in the very near future, your videos are an inspiration. I really love your content, look forward to more soon!
I' ve always felt so identified with your approach to design and workflow, and I also recently downloaded Procreate on my Ipad and it's been surprisingly refreshing and very useful, especially in quarantine! I didn't like my iPad as I do now. It looks you are having lots of fun with it too! Thanks for sharing your work in so honest and passionate way!
How would you deal with the sense of entrapment and confinement with such a space with is both small and below the ground level? The reflection with water sand glossy surfaces help but any more concepts to ventilate and enhance the sense of opening?
Hi Eric, thanks for all the great videos. I am graduating as an (Interior) Architect this summer and have to do this now from home. Your model making videos have been an great inspiration for me during this time!
A Beautiful Drawing, and a beautiful Chapel - Reminds me a bit of the chapel at MIT by Eero Saarinen. I'd love to see it built and to visit ! My mom just gifted me a drawing tablet, my first one I've wanted one for over a decade, so I am watching your videos as a tutorial to get started. Thanks so much :)
Hey Eric, Another extraordinary video is here as usual. Thank you for everything you have been doing. Could do live please? So people like-me could ask questions for you, and for sure, it would be a great to hear from you. Thank you.
I understand how isolation can effect people. Maybe this is a time to be more expansive, adventurous - even outrageous than ever before. As artists, we can turn our perceived limitations into incredible opportunities from within. Landscape artist Bob Ross talked often about the joy of the world we create through our paintings or drawings.
I have respect for the embracment for you personaly with the tablet. How quick you mastered the app, deep respect. I hope with your dialed in pencils and presets that I learn as quick to work with Procreate as you are doing! Thank you.
Hey Eric thanks a bunch for your videos they're truly inspiring and motivational. This video really just got me Sketch hungry! Also, I'm getting more convinced that a graphic pad is more interesting than a physical sketchbook. Besides that, a graphic pad has the added advantage of redoing, zoning in on layers, and it just looks cooler.
Great Walkthrough. I hadn't really seen the value of Procreate until I saw the brush placement. To this day I've been using "Paper" to organize sketches in notebooks but the lack of tools for sketching is frustrating.
I also like the visual props of hinged ruler&imperial weights obviously anchoring his creativity to source inspiration. This guy needs to do some BIM tutorials..
Eric, long time viewer and have enjoyed all of your videos thus far. I recently moved to Utah from New England, and I am working for a large firm in SLC, during this quarantine period around 20 of us have been going back to basics, sketching, perspectives and such. We do a ZOOm weekly, review sketches and workshops, we are really enjoying this way of still sharing, and talking to our fellow co-workers, as well as sharpening skills, thanks and cheers.
Your videos are really interesting and It has been a source of inspiration for me since I decided to start study architecture. I'm 33 years old, coming from a long and great career as a dancer. Can't wait to start in October in London. The only thing that frights me is starting the studies at this age, so if you allow me to suggest a topic for a video or a lecture, I would like to know your point of view about this in a career as an architect. Is this an important matter? Thank you for sharing your work and passion.
Love your videos ... they truly are inspirational. I am totally new to using Procreate and was wondering if you could please explain/show the process on how you created your; color palettes, dash lined pencil, and all else in your settings/library ? The thing I miss from early day blueprints is the blue colored paper and the white pencil lettering. But I also like the idea of you using the “indigo blue background”. So, if it’s not too much to ask - could you ? Thanks !!
U are my inspiration and teacher from afar. Im something little like u in some degree but I have my colors that define me but its incomplete. Im in a cocoon state. I will evolve eventually, I hope so.
I can see you are a deep into Apple and their aeshstics, have you checked out the Remarkable 2 or any other drawing tablet that is not Apple? Seems like a lot better drawing experience but the question is if it supports drawing in layers.
"my wife.. cocaine." I had to reply that a few times, to realise you said cooking. lol. Sorry, it's the accent! Thank for the laugh and ofcourse the incrediable content !

Hi Eric how are you? I love you vids

What product is that little pice of wood you use as a Stand for the ipad? It’s perfect.
