      @@terryenby2304 It's funny how there are a few select people out there that are absolutely outstanding at being other people but hopeless at just being them. I'm sure Simon or another UA-camr I watched covered another guy who'd spent a large part of his life masquerading as a whole host of other professionals including Doctors, surgeons and even a University lecturer before eventually being rumbled. He'd done a lot of good including saving peoples lives, however, and never got legally punished for it. I kind of admire that.

  • @evilwelshman
    @evilwelshman Рік тому +56

    I think I figured out why Oobah is living in a shed in London despite writing for _Vice_ . It's not that London is so unaffordably expensive. Rather, it's because the guy keeps spending all his money on pranks, right down to physically setting up and furnishing a real fake restaurant, hiring people to be fake staff and fake customers at said fake restaurant, and hiring an army of impersonators to pretend to be him for interviews. 😂😂

    • @Terpe75

      Not sure how much he would have to pay for some of them. The live ones in India and Australia the shows would probably pay for the plane ticket, food, and hotel room... just send this other guy in your place and their payment is getting a free 3 or 4 day trip to Australia or India and all they have to do is show up at a studio and do an interview one day, I would sign up for that.

    A couple of years before Covid a small park near where I live somehow must’ve gotten listed on a travel site because tour buses of people from New York started coming to visit it. It’s a nice park, there’s a creek and tables and a playground, but it’s not a state park or a campground, it’s just a little local park. The township ended up having to put a police car at the entrance to turn non-locals away because the hoards of people from out of state were trashing the place. It was very surreal and after that I have never underestimated the power of the internet.

      Fancy restaurants are only "better " because everything is expensive and the critics and experts say that this is what constitutes the best food. In my opinion food needs to taste good and that's it. If you eat a cheap greasy burger from a back alley joint and you like it there's no reason a serving of froi gras in the glitziest restaurant is any better unless you genuinely think it tastes better. More often than not the reason to go to fancy restaurant is to show off either to the people with you or so you can tell others you went. I'll acknowledge that molecular gastronomy is something of an exception. The visual experience it can create is not disemilar to watching any of the visual arts, thus making it mostly excempt by virtue of being in an entirely different category.

    Fun fact: most good reviews for businesses are written and posted by one of the advertising executives they buy advertising from. And they also get their crack team of friends to do same. Which honestly if your account exec isn’t doing this they prob don’t see you as worth much of their time. Yeah I used to do this as an exec with Cumulus. The Dark Side days… lol…

      Before there was Paypal and some line of defense, online banking was done with legitimate banking numbers and credentials... SO a "scam" job offer could even get into YOUR actual accounts or credit cards... AND the next thing you knew, you were financially screwed and scrambling for damage control, because the "outside normie world" was so far behind the technology... ;o)

    When I was in college, the school wanted to make a fun hangout club, bar area, but because of rules around having an place that serves/sells alcohol they couldn't get a real license so whenever they had events there they served the booze for free to skirt the rules. They didn't do much with it after the first year though since I assume it's really expensive to hand out free drinks to college students.

    London Property Prices, I recently watched an episode of Grand Designs, a couple bought a garage somewhere in Greater London, to turn it into a house, it costed them £250,000, in most of the country you could buy a very good house for that.

    Sometimes I think about that conspiracy theory about how the Titanic was swapped with a sister ship as part of an insurance scam and then realize how ridiculous that is because of how many people were involved and no one spilled the beans...
    Then we get stories like this where nobody who lived on that street, and not one of his friends or paid participants spilled the beans beforehand...
