That's $5.8m gross.. lol, and his lease for the "restaurant" was £800/month.
This shows how easily you could get rich if you are smart about things. You could set up a legitimate restaurant and make it the most popular place around in just a few months.
It would be impossible to fake this restaurant for long. He would be insanely popular for probably a few months top and quickly fall off. Once enough negative reviews start coming in and word starts to spread it would be over for this place. Sure some people would go for the novelty of eating in a backyard or on top of a shed but he wouldn't be able to charge the prices to pay for all the staff and food. Then again some microwavable food nowadays are very good except for things like meat. Now if he started some homeopathy scam he would be FAR more wealthy as people love to fall for that crap.
You do of course realise that what he did has literally no cost right? Because sure if this dude has capital he would be able to do something But he doesn't
As a chef of several decades, one of the first things you learn is that most customers have poor taste, and much of the remainder have none.If you consider that less than 30% of a given population bother to work for their own opinions in politics, and even fewer in any of the arts, it shouldn't be surprising how many are so easily manipulated.
I can't stop laughing! He easily could have been someone who kidnapped everyone. "Meet me at the intersection and we will be there."."Put these blindfolds on and walk with me.". If a restaurant said that to me I would laugh and leave. This is amazing!
that's the lying cheating world we live in, it's a miracle when you find a completely honest person nowadays, just shows how easy it is to create fake reviews, Snopes will tell you the news article is fake, but what if Snopes is fake? You're gonna have to think for yourself when you shop on Amazon or look for a new place to eat, sadly.
LMFAO Yes, I saw totally seeking a method to justify why people scam others, haha I totally wanted all these people to get scammed when they called his burner fone a hundred times lol
The only marketing needed was a bunch of friends to do fake reviews. Fake websites and photos. You don’t need much to promote a restaurant for a one time wonder. The reviews drive up the rating on TripAdvisor and people just see it
"This is the longest I've ever held someone's hand" XD This guy has no limit! I would chill with a cup a soup in his backyard anytime, so funny and down to earth.
This is brilliant. The sad part is that you can serve a £1 lasagna to these people who attend trendy restaurants in multiple locations. And yet they are either unable to judge the food honestly, or they can taste it is average but still say it is great. Some people are just so afraid to criticise things openly and honestly.
Kungfoo Joey He means, it would have been a cool restaurant if it was real. The whole choosing a meal based on your mood thing was a pretty novel idea.
They basically did this on an episode of an old American show called Mission Hill. They made a club but never let anyone on and it became the most popular club in town but it wasn’t even real.
The concept is cool. It’s like those underground raves that disclose the location the day of....but I would’ve been sour had I walked into that jungle of weeds 😂
This is one of the best things I have ever watched. People are so manipulated by other peoples' opinions that they really don't trust their own senses anymore and view them as inferior. It's crazy!
BlueTJ when didn't people turst their own senses in this? It was a restaurant no real customer could go! And the one time when they did have people, it wasn't that bad anyway (hell I would've gone even if I knew lol).
Yes! I'm sitting here thinking, "these people are allowing a man they've never met to lead them blindfolded down a back alley because he claims to run a restaurant that no one they know has ever been to." Really? Glad it didn't turn out sinister, but it's easy to see how it could have.
This could be a legitimate business ngl. There's one similar like this in Malaysia where a plethora of scrumptious food is aesthetically placed on a long wooden table in the middle of the sightful paddy field. The business is doing phenomenal considering there's no competition. Even famous celebrities and the Apple team has been there.
Yeah.. i expected him to hire real chefs and stuff that probably would line up to work there. Since fake reviews don't seem to be a crime in England if real businesses actuly hire people to do that there. It shouldn't be more illegal than what they do then? Just that actuly not having a resturant means theres no real customers to potentialy drag the score down
Agreed. If the food were good quality then I think a lot of people would like that backyard cookout party appeal. There's a place in Philadelphia called Cavanaugh's River Deck, which is basically some outdoor night club next to the river downtown, the place is nothing but some pavilions and some bars with plastic furniture. It has that backyard party feel, which is why people love it, because the environment just feels open, somewhat reminiscent of a college party, and not so pedantic. So people would totally frequent The Shed at Dulwich if it had decent restaurant quality food and service.

Comedians make us laugh; often without realising we are laughing at ourselves. That's clever and at it's best irreverent. This guy is a comedian.
This is the guy who tricked the emperor to put on his new invisible clothes that he convinced everyone could not see if they were stupid.

100% same.

This shows how easily you could get rich if you are smart about things. You could set up a legitimate restaurant and make it the most popular place around in just a few months.
Yea cause running a restaurant just easy peasy. He would get shit review instantly, only reason he got so big cause there was no bad reviews
Yes PR wise he could have it popping. Yet once that's done, he would need to deliver. He's better off creating a marketing company.
This dude is a marketing genius
You do of course realise that what he did has literally no cost right?
Because sure if this dude has capital he would be able to do something
But he doesn't
As a chef of several decades, one of the first things you learn is that most customers have poor taste, and much of the remainder have none.If you consider that less than 30% of a given population bother to work for their own opinions in politics, and even fewer in any of the arts, it shouldn't be surprising how many are so easily manipulated.
Why does he keep hats outside in a storage bin? 🤣
Asking the real questions
You don't?
its a British thing
Ah good reminder. I'm going to arrange my hats in my Outside Hat Bin (OHB), by season today.
Don't know, but I have so many hats that this is what I need to do.
I can't stop laughing! He easily could have been someone who kidnapped everyone. "Meet me at the intersection and we will be there."."Put these blindfolds on and walk with me.". If a restaurant said that to me I would laugh and leave. This is amazing!
He couldve been on one of your stories
urmaker then he'd just edit your part out lol

"FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT "
M. ian if you can't make it, fake it
FAKE IT TILL YOU BECOME IT
that's the lying cheating world we live in, it's a miracle when you find a completely honest person nowadays, just shows how easy it is to create fake reviews, Snopes will tell you the news article is fake, but what if Snopes is fake? You're gonna have to think for yourself when you shop on Amazon or look for a new place to eat, sadly.
Frank Beauchamp put nicely faking is a form of learning haha

@@kugelblitzingularity304 False Advertising for the win!!
The only marketing needed was a bunch of friends to do fake reviews. Fake websites and photos. You don’t need much to promote a restaurant for a one time wonder. The reviews drive up the rating on TripAdvisor and people just see it
I had to pause and start laughing for a minute or so when he showed his foot as the ham hock.
Imagine if Oobah put actual effort into something that actually existed. He would be richer than Jeff Bezos.
If he used the same methods he'd just get arrested for fraud...

Some people are just so afraid to criticise things openly and honestly.
this was such a great concept, damn i would have loved to have seen him turn it into an actual restaurant and go up from there
MrJj295 i for sure would
These comments are too nice...it’s a little scary.
You mean go down from there. :)
great concept? what lying and betraying trust on the net? yer what a genius, you have to be 12.

He means, it would have been a cool restaurant if it was real. The whole choosing a meal based on your mood thing was a pretty novel idea.

They basically did this on an episode of an old American show called Mission Hill. They made a club but never let anyone on and it became the most popular club in town but it wasn’t even real.

This is one of the best things I have ever watched. People are so manipulated by other peoples' opinions that they really don't trust their own senses anymore and view them as inferior. It's crazy!
this is genuinely an issue..
Herd mentality
BlueTJ when didn't people turst their own senses in this? It was a restaurant no real customer could go! And the one time when they did have people, it wasn't that bad anyway (hell I would've gone even if I knew lol).
Yes! I'm sitting here thinking, "these people are allowing a man they've never met to lead them blindfolded down a back alley because he claims to run a restaurant that no one they know has ever been to." Really? Glad it didn't turn out sinister, but it's easy to see how it could have.
Now apply this to the political scene currently in the UK. Herd mentality on all sides.
Interesting, may I know more on this please? Is there an article on it? Or some keywords to Google more on this?
What is it called?

That would probably be fraudulent and illegal
actually technically i don't think he'd be breaking any more laws than he already has.
Yeah.. i expected him to hire real chefs and stuff that probably would line up to work there.
Since fake reviews don't seem to be a crime in England if real businesses actuly hire people to do that there. It shouldn't be more illegal than what they do then? Just that actuly not having a resturant means theres no real customers to potentialy drag the score down
I think the real amazing thing here is the fact that this man kept a straight face through the whole night!
i can't believe this is real. jesus, how gutsy do you have to be to pull this off?
Some guy from America comes to the UK expecting some super Fancy ass Restraunt - Gets a Garden Shed and ASDA Value Microwave food.
Food here in America is shit, so not surprised he couldn't tell the difference.
They're rich cunts, they've never heard of ASDA food,
_Free_ microwave food though.
when did he visit The Shed though?
Atleast they didnt pay
Best line "They tried to book again"
I'd book again. Look great to have a dinner in back yard.
For me, the best was: "I went for horny and was not disappointed"
