I actually really liked the little interaction between the two actors when they're deciding which way to go. They have an entire conversation, considering and rejecting options, realizing that they're trapped, and then the little "Oh, well, okay here we go" from the Colonel that just feels so real. Like that worked surprisingly well. I've never seen this movie but I would be down just based on that.
I wouldnt give a $hit about that when world is ending
Its a good film you should watch it
I really like the creatures in this movie. They're well designed.
Agree. i appreciate that too , but overall this movie is pretty bad
They look like the rachni from Mass Effect 1.
@@lienminh4792 idk many people like it
the visual design is good, but the ability design is so bad. They killed a squad in less than a sec in intro, after that they became mindless close combat monsters who occasionally shoot random bullets around.
“Thank You.” -natural selection.
Here's an idea: when fighting an enemy much larger than yourself, don't design bases that allow them to easily travel through them.
That sounds marvelous! Could just make all doorways like real small crawlspaces to fuck with them. But what if they are like cats will just melt into anything a human can pass through?
even doors that automatically close will be a big help here.
@@thespacesbetweenstudio3346 They literally just barrel through them like nothing
These monsters act like they are on steroids all the time. Don't make the mistake of killing one if their own either. They get super pissed lol. That scene when they try to escape the lab is a perfect example of them being angry. Then the queen scene too.
Why did so many people hate this movie? I get it, there's a ton of plot armour and goofy moments but the cgi alone in this movie was INSANELY good. This movie gets a solid 8/10 from me
I particularly liked the whitespikes
Right? I didn't expect a blockbuster film or anything like that. But they had Chris Pratt, good cgi, good concepts and fun action. Made me feel like my subscription money to amazon didn't go to waste here. Fun watch regardless of plot holes.
CGI decide the whole movie good?
Looking at the action alone its ok but the plot is so dumb its hard to not hate it
Agreed. It was fun, the CGI was good and the aliens had a VERY good design (IMO).
I was so amazed how 30 round mags shoot like 75 bullets in the future! Not one mag change when blowing hot lead into those aliens . Amazing
Just like the 50 round six shooters of the westerns.
I mean, it is the future, maybe they have 75 mags. I do wish more movies had guns be accurate
It like the old videos games point off screen to reload.😂
Maybe they have some cool ammo

This would make for a very interesting level in a video game. Destructible environment, multiple levels, many targets to shoot, and a clear mission. I'd play a game based on this movie.

Chris pratt has so much plot armor there were like 5 of those aliens running straight towards him and his single gun could kill all of them
Could kill "all of" them.
Not really. They told them where their weak spots were early on. With the way they were tunneled, it would make it easier than if they were in a wide open space.

Interesting knowing that the future they fought for ended but the time leaping created a new future timeline. Loved this movie because it wasn’t really dull. Cheesy at times but kept my attention.
Their time travel works exactly like dragon ball's
I guess if you are an American or a millenial, then you need to be congratulated for sitting in one place for 100 minutes without checking your phone, taking a selfie and/or posting to Twitter.

The whole point of the time travel was not to save the future by winning the future war, but to create an alternative future by preventing the alien invasion in the first place.
“Good day at the office dear?”
“Oh we had a few issues to solve”
imagine if they actually designed their lab "base" like an actual defensive structure instead of an open climbing frame replete with cover, handholds and areas from which random aliens can jump onto unsuspecting defenders.
even a simple layer of sheet-metal would have helped enormously in terms of setting up a kill-zone to focus the firepower into rather than a death-trap where every defender is shooting from an open balcony over a massive drop into the water. Or you know, use a tanker or something similar (aircraft carrier/battleship ideally) so it's more sealed up, better armed, probably nuclear powered and mobile but big enough to do anything you need of it.
also, if you got what you needed, explode the queen with a bomb-collar or something.
And if the lab was designed to block the queen ways of communicating, for booth sound and pheromons etc if she communicates that way too
I dont think they really has so much time to build such a lab. Ig the base was probably built before the attack but they couldn't make such modifications in it due to probably lack of resources as the world was kn turmoil
Its a movie for godsake 😂😂🎉
I love the fact that his daughter is Miranda from mass effect it just shows how well the did her face in the game
Ooh that's who she is! I couldn't figure it out
I couldn’t work out why she looked so similar. Makes sense!
I never played the game but when I heard her say "This is colonel Forester...." I knew she had to have done voice acting and I was right lol.
I love the fact that people know her from a voice acting role where she was rendered onto an in-game model, and not from her live role in the highly popular television show, Chuck.
I still have no idea why they didn't make an aerial base.
They have the technology to create a time machine yet lack the blueprints of a floating airship.
Something like a helicarrier?
@@jorgefigueroa4712 Yes or any aircraft that can hold massive weight like blimps.
Heck, I think they can even get away with using a Navy Destroyer. As long as they are always in out of sight from any land mass and only use aircrafts to go in and out.
well think about it. how would you keep the airship in the air forever? you will run out of stuff for the people or the airship at some point. then again this movie got so many plot holes so why not one more...
Animals can glide and maybe fly. I'm not sure if that changes things though...
@@presentlyinthepast2148 From what the movie shows, White Spikes can't fly or have any gliding capability.
I'm sticking to my 'Navy destroyer out in the middle of the Pacific' idea till I die.
I remember a discovery channel show called "future weapons", in that show the host showed an M4 variant called "The Beowulf". He explained that with a little adjustments and some minor hardware modifications that rifle could shot .50 cal rounds instead of 5.56 rounds in full auto mode with a moderate recoil...
I later found out that the project was cancelled due to lack of financing, because....
"There was no practical use for an automatic rifle with rounds that big"
I hope the asshole who cancelled that program were among the first casualties in this reality lol
It's still around, it just wasn't officially adopted through the military procurement process. But yeah they could've definitely used something like that in this world lmao where's Burt Gummer when you need him.
@@Toasty_Britches lol i know right?, i mean those 5.56 rounds seems to be effective against the White Spikes when hitting weak spots, i wonder how a 7.62 round could do.
But if i recall correctly a .50 cal turret from a humvee completely obliterated one of those things with a few rounds...
So using 5.56 it's like trying to hunt a Kodiak with a 9mm you'll only piss him off and die in a brutal way.
@@alexandermendeyev35 oh yeah, a battle rifle like a SCAR in 7.62 would be a massive upgrade. The doctrine influences that contributed to the adoption of 5.56 are mostly absent in this universe, shifting to the mindset of taking down big game would be a much wiser choice. The only in-universe justification for using 5.56 I can think of is using the existing stockpiles of NATO armaments in the face of a world ending apocalypse where you can't make more of something. But then, soviet stockpiles of 7.62 are even more prevalent, but at the same time they're probably nestled in areas more immediately hit by the white spikes. Fun stuff to think about.
Você 😴😈
The Beowulf 50 shoots 50 AE, a pistol round used in the desert eagle. When most people say 50 cal, that is referring to 50 BMG, used in the Barrett sniper rifles and M2 machine guns. Caliber refers to the diameter of the bullet, those two rounds have the same diameter but the AE has much less powder behind it than the BMG. Not comparable at all

@3D Modeller Y'know I think civilians should be put in charge of a horror film XD
@3D Modeller well the nukes won't solve anything it would amme matters worse, these things spread all over the globe pretty fast and there is not just one queen so still nukes won't solve a thing
@3D Modeller how would that buy time? The white spikes could both swim and burrow and they're pretty fast and the females are quite alot given and I'm pretty sure they'll reproduce more white spikes the moment it takes to blow nukes, plus to much nukes would risk a nuclear winter that could possibly mutate them you never know what radiation could do these things are alien
@3D Modeller then you'd decrease survival rate to try avoiding radioactive areas wasting resources on that, and fighting the white spikes would be much harder

In my opinion, they don't have much amo to go around. So it would make sense to conserve it to maximize kills. But who knows but it makes the most sense to me.
@@flyingstars2998 Agreed. Those Phalanx were probably being guided manually by operators, which makes it more likely for them to be firing in bursts and with a lower rate of fire, especially since they were firing at the Spikes, not at normal targets.

I haven’t watched this movie yet but based on this I don’t get the hate. This whole scene is tense as shit and amazingly shot. It’s genuinely great film making.
It’s just people who can’t deal with movies that aren’t 100% realistic and have to nitpick every single little detail they deem “unrealistic”. I for one, enjoy movies like this, if all movies were as realistic as real life, they’d all be boring as shit.
@@brayerkh you're wrong. The tactics are idiotic. It's actually frustrating to see folks with heroic intentions and courage, dying in really stupid ways. With our modern firepower we should have been able to sweep them with a virtual firehose of bullets, and yet this movie creates a false weakness in poor weapons choices and tactics that make even a child who plays video games, totally frustrated. this is nowhere NEAR 100% realistic in your 'words', and I don't need 100% realism, but this is monumentally STUPID on an epic scale.

For real
This movie was amazing! I wish it would have never ended!!
One thing I don't understand about movies with guns that forget that weapons need to reload. The creators of these movies do realise that if they want their characters to be able to fire longer without having to reload they could either A, use extended/drum mags, or B, use the LMG's that have an insane ammo count, right? I get the LMG's would take longer to reload, but it would make more sense for in-between scene reloading with an LMG if the payoff was their characters firing their guns longer without having to reload with a weapon that makes sense to do so.
the truck LMG has infinite ammo bug if you double tap trigger on the last bullet it fires infinitely
Those CIWS's are supposed to go brrrrrrrrrt
The only reason they survived was they didn't have to reload and the creatures suddenly started only using doors and walking in straight lines into gun fire. When in the exact same scene we see these things leaping and crawling all over the place. 10/10 writing
Remember switching to your pistol is faster than reloading

Assault rifle refers specifically to intermediate cartridge, select fire rifles & carbines. "Assault weapon" on the other hand, is the term you are claiming assault rifle to be. It is the one used by idiotic politicians.
While there is no perfect accepted definition of assault rifle that everyone and their mother will accept, those 2 characteristics are ubiquitous. Sometimes you might find an exception such as something with sub-machinegun ammo but built with a system more meant for intermediate cartridges, but those are as I said, the exception.
Now all that said I have to ask..... what in the hell was your point? Not only were you flat out wrong, you deliberately tried to instigate a 2A conversation/argument in the wrong place. You know, if you are going to try and start an argument, you should at the very least get those 2 things right or else everyone will think exactly as I do, that you are immature and uneducated.
"What is this assault rifle........." and then later claim to be confused( esp. when I gave 2 precise examples)? Don't insult my intelligence... you knew exactly what you were trying to start. I also knew what you were trying.... but I gave you an out to use so that you wouldn't look like a moron. Though you either failed to see it, or ignored it.
Good day to you sir.
addendum: Your arguments are based completely on nomenclature and not on actual physical description. "They call it this because they call it this" is all you are essentially saying. This is called begging the question, or circular reasoning, and is a literal logical fallacy.
Excellent movie man ,I don’t care about the critics
I watched this movie and was amazing and best movie i have ever watched.
its like playing with your freinds with legos with and your parents is like recording you playing with them
This is the closest thing I've seen to a Tyranid invasion...
Good call, but the tyranid player must be on a "gaunt only" invasion then ^^
@@darkadrien14 also, Tyranids never rest.
fun fact: the Tyranids ate every single galaxy and the one in 40k is the last one and the Tyranids are running from something
“Fact”? You mean “two fan theories smashed into one”?
@@karebear4485 no that’s what I heard is going on
Fun fact: All "soldiers of the past" were secretly injected with a toxin that eventually kills the whitespike who eats them (the same toxin used in the ending), this explains why they were not given training.
I like fight scenes but also the movie showing future army so incompetent. Like they couldn't detect them from miles away; no missles, no futuristic weapons and no bombardment here.
Maybe they can used robot from avatar movie to fight them
Keep in mnind that humanity was on the ropes here. They had very little resources.
@@deltadromeuss I think what he meant was how did humanity fall like this. If an invasion such as this would happen now, I bet those aliens would not survive more than like 20 days or something. But again, when you forget the reality, the film becomes fun to watch.
In the full scene there were actually lots of missiles fired at the start of the battle. But yeah I 100% do agree with your comment. This movie was way too ambitious for what its budget allowed, it either needed way more set design or CGI. Miami had cars from 2015, the army was using humvees and black hawks. They were using stealth fighters like the F-22 to do bombing runs, makes literally zero sense to do that against an enemy that doesn't air forces beyond gliders from cliffs. One of the best things about en enemy like this is we could just mass produce efficient drones that are operated without fear of electronic warfare(literally the ONLY barrier from mass adoption right now and the only reason Western countries have been producing piloted fighter aircraft for the last 15 years).
@@adamanderson3042 Explosions at the start of the battle was due to minefields, friend.
Your telling me humans don’t have massive underground bases with strategic bottle necks? What are my taxes for?
The film had some good moments and story arcs. CGI was good, the aliens origins, look an never ending hunger idea was cool. But the small plot holes built up and the pointless Hollywood over goofyness made it difficult to watch at times.
Rest in piece viper one
I like how this massive rig in the middle of the ocean had no boats guarding it and did not have redundant defenses
Oh but it did

Imagine a large multiplayer video game based on this. Focusing on making the Whitespike AI and animation top tier would be number one. Imagine 100 players spawning into a city map and there are different units, some are civilians who need to find salvation though found weapons or other players who are soldiers there to save them. Other players could be armored units or even air support kind of like what we saw in the beginning.
That would be a sort of search and rescue type gamemode similar to SCP Secret Laboratory.
Then you could also have a survival gamemode with 100 players as well, mimicking this Deepswell Base defense.
Maybe you could allow players to play as Whitespikes and have versus modes?
I don't know, it seems like a fun and interesting idea.
Would be very hard to make, but it sounds sick
I think the early Alien game’s especially in the harder difficulties though single player incorporates AI that increasingly makes it hard for the player to finish the game.
Say for instance you’ve done a lot of hiding, after a while it’s easy for the Xenomorph to find you and they get increasingly aggressive.
They should probably invest more money into the writing
I see a counterstrike guy here
Yeah, until you get Isekai´d there, then it would be shit
