Foods steamed in bamboo are the best... We've tried in Thailand... Very moorish. The food scene looks exciting and diverse and the area stunning. That fish dish is quite the portion... Wow!! 😮
Definitely some very different cuisine in yangshuo. I've grown up eating Chinese food from all the different regions but a lot of stuff from this meal was totally new to me 😊
Beer fish is hands down my favorite dish from yangshuo especially since the carp they have is so fresh from the river. Really tasty and tender 😯🤤 talking about it is making me hungry 😂
The green jelly in a cup 👌🏼🥰 Good fried goodness alright, Yen yum😍👌🏼 You two are always bringing the goods & I look forward to your videos. Stay safe and God Bless your beautiful journey ❤️❤️
😁 a lot of the food in this video was surprising for us too because I like to think I know a lot of Chinese food but so many of these flavors were totally new to me Amazing diversity in China 🤤 have a great Sunday Faye ❤
Good to see you try some Guilin oil-tea: There is a saying in guilin area: "a cup of bitter, two cups (dialect, meaning astringent) three cups, four cups of good oil tea". This is to remind you to taste slowly, to appreciate. "Oil tea" has the function of dispelling cold and dampness, refreshing and filling up. The humidity in northern guangxi is high, and there are many miners. Drinking "oil tea" has become the eating habit of the local people, and it is also a way for them to receive guests. The guests sit around the table, and the host USES a small stove with "wenjun" as the stove. Now, "dozen oil tea" spread like wildfire, spread guangxi number, times people favor, flavor also add several kinds, such as "chicken silk dozen oil tea", "pork silk dozen oil tea" and so on. Like the fish n looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing :)
I like how Yen and Peter have both different view on the Beer fish at the opening scene😆Those are some really unique Guilin dishes for breakfast, Puri would definitely love that sticky rice cake that's look like angku, that's one of his favourite snack.$1.4 USD for a bowl of absolutely stunning noodles! Cheap and delicious are the best!
West Street looks absolutely beautiful, love the classic olden-days Chinese architectures and a stunning view of the limestone mountains in the background. Oooo that stuffed river snail looks pretty delicious!! Is it like escargot? "It' just a bug, what's the worst it could do" (Scare Yen off! 🤣) Kudos for trying the scorpion Peter!!
😂 yeah yen has an incredible phobia of bugs I don't think she would ever eat one of these. If you like the old days architecture you're in luck lots of that coming up in the future videos 😁✌
the river snail actually looks really good esp with the way it's cooked with garlic and chilli i''ve been wanting to know what scorpions tastes ... i've heard the smaller it is, the more poisonous lol good to know it tastes like a chip. a $10 piece of well seasoned chip xD also... Yangshuo looks really beautiful! never been to china except for Shenzhen and now i really want to make a visit and do some proper exploring
You totally should visit China Janice it's an awesome place. Can you speak any mandarin? Life's much easier there if you can a lil. The whole guilin region is very beautiful its those mountains makes it so unique everywhere you look. N yup smaller more poisonous 😅 they have some crazy massive ones here in Cambodia kinda freaky looking
Wow looks of interesting dishes here! The snails are always a good choice IMO! Not sure we would have tried the scorpion haha you're a brave guy Peter! The Pork belly definitely my mouth watering though! Awesome episode as always guys!!
Thanks guys! Yangshuo had so many interesting food for us to try. It was great! 😁🙌 Haha yea nothing seems to phase Peter all that much when it comes to food.. I'm the complete opposite 🤣😂
The combo of pork belly and yam is soooooo good 🤤 n we hung out at west street very often cause it's like the main area of yangshuo for food and night time entertainment. Cool vibes
Guilin noodles I think are some of the most famous in China along with hand pulled xian noodles, Sichuan spicy noodles, Shanghai oily noodles, Taiwan beef noodles and Beijing za jian mian 🤔 hmmmm China is just a noodle loving nation 😂😂😂
LOL Yen at the start "mmm.. nahhh" That bamboo dish where you had to push out the rice reminds me of push pops from childhood. Ahaha immortal tofu.. kinda makes me think of century egg but even more ancient. Andy said that the pork belly and taro dish is a Hakka specialty.. his absolute fave food in the world!
Yen isn't often enthused about anything 😂 I think it's cause she's Malaysian and to her nothing compares to wan tan mee from malacca. Definitely didn't taste like century egg thankfully 😂 good taste Andy pork belly n taro is a staple!
Thank you! Hope you found the food as interesting as we did in this one. China really amazes us the diversity in all the different cuisines for each region 😍

Wow that’s a lot of exotic food you guys had in Guilin! Everything looks tempting and delicious, except the scorpions I think hahaha I don’t think we ever want to try that lol.

😂 yeah I dunno I can't really play up much fear for these kinda things cause I'm pretty happy to eat most things. We had an amazing trip to China 2 months. I've been many times but this time around went to many new cities for me. Currently in Cambodia 😉
Those rice pops looks like regular cereal. Very interesting. Stick your finger in there, Peter. Haha Looks very good actually. Wow, $1.4 for a bowl of noodles! The tofu does look like grass jelly. :-)
Looks like regular cereal but sure as heck didn't taste like it hahaha.. bitter and gingery.. but oddly the more I ate it the more I was able to appreciate it hahaha 😂 yea local spots often so much cheaper it was great! Loved those noodles 😍
Beautiful architecture Really like the vibe of this town. We tried scorpion too! Tastes like french fries!!! Yes. NZ Fillet o fish, nice. Nabol approves. And the pork belly and taro dish looks amazing. It's still alive? Nice. You're making Nabol nervous. Hahahaha Great episode guys.

"Boss lady" 😂lol the bamboo rice - that is so odd but interesting, having to push the rice out like that. For some reason I was picturing at least a mouse-sized scorpion. Those are tiny! haha We've had crickets before, so those look like a treat. That beer fish looks so flavourful - genius to have a candle underneath to keep the dish warm/hot
Haha they got the mouse kind of scorpions here in Cambodia where we are now! Apparently the little ones are known to be more dangerous and poisonous than the big ones.. the big ones use their size for intimidation or something haha who knows! 😂 They had crickets there too.. how did the ones you guys had taste?
The green tofu looks interesting. Snail and scorpions! Haha seems like a great snack 😆 Mmm fish cakes 🍥!! Wow 😮 The pork belly and taro! Definitely looks like the best dish you guys ate. My stomach was grumbling after that. I’ve never tried aniseed with fish. So many fresh flavours. I really like how the fish stays hot while you eat it. I take ages to eat fresh fish with bones too 😄

That fish in the bamboo was interesting 🤔 but I wouldn’t think I could eat it... West Street is beautiful and those snails 😖and scorpions 🦂 lol fish cake looks like a potato fritters.
I'd have to say the pork belly was my FAV!!! I just have to try that one day forsure!!! ......if I could choose a 2nd dish heheh Second wouldve been the fresh fish dish with all that juicy sauce and other ingredients mmm and then 3rd wouldve been the rice noodles.. was just fascinated at all the side condiments you could add to the dish. I wouldve overloaded everything into my bowl tbh lmaoo Cant believe it was only NZD$2.20 man.. OH and the Scorpion I want to try that AND..the river snail mmmm that looks like something I'd like to try... I've tried sea snails back in raro minus the garlic and chillie that wouldve been nice heheh but yea I like it lol it's slightly a bit chewy ... has like a mushroom kind of texture and flavour...anyways glad I had something to eat while watching this video!! I swear I have learnt from your past videos lol dont watch your videos on an empty stomach lmao thanks for sharing guys! 💕😍😍😍 another fantastic video 😊😊😊
Thanks for watching Marie 😁👍 you did the right thing getting some food first before hahaha. I used to always love eating lunch like tuna and rice then watching food episodes it made my bland lunch more enjoyable 😂 the pork belly and taro reminds me a lil of island foods cause of the ingredients. Hahahaha missy when we go to Cambodia we will have a big surprise for you. Very interesting bugs there you will enjoy it 😁
I'd have to say the pork belly was my FAV!!!
I really miss a good chunk of taro covered in coconut cream with some chop sui 🤤😍 gona need to get some when we're back in Auckland 😁
Peter and Yen oh you have to have a fully belly or else lol you’ll be raiding the kitchen like crazy hehe just thinking about it now... I haven’t had island food for .l,a few months now lol I love my Asian food too much tbh hehehe
