  • Delve into the roots of America's current political and societal turmoil. While many believe that the crisis began with Donald Trump's presidential campaign in 2015 and subsequent victory in 2016, there is more to the story. Some argue that events like Charlottesville or the protests following George Floyd's tragic execution in 2020 were the real turning points, while others point to the pandemic as the catalyst. However, the reality is both simpler and more complex.
Join us as we explore the underlying issues that have been simmering beneath the surface of American society for decades. We challenge the notion that any single incident ignited the flames engulfing our nation. Instead, we argue that these incidents merely exposed the embers that have been smoldering all along.

This bs of being polite to the absolute worst people while they say vile shit is the absolute worst. Its why nothing ever gets done because you can't call out the problem directly. I'm glad videos like this exist that make the connections that others can't.

I didnt have a specific age guessed for you, but I think it was probably 25-30, I think your voice is soft so that maybe affected my assumption. You do speak as someone who is wise but that doesn't always correlate to age (I'm 24 and all I knew was you were most likely older than me)

I agree with most points of the video but the section about regulations on anonymity and speech are dangerous. Look at how anything said about the war crimes of israel and zionist ideology is being labeled as hate speech. Anti Fascism is now labeled as an extremist ideology and people are getting charged under RICO Laws for even sharing flyers about Cop City. Anonymity is very important and we can't rely on a government being taken over by Fascists to regulate what is and isn't considered illegal speech

    • @lucretia_macevil

I completely agree with you. Paul masons point was to not take anonymity from the public but from people who practice hate speech. I think that is fine to be against, personally. He isn’t talking about it being implemented into law or by the government, but by tech companies and organizations that stoke the flames of hate for the algorithm. I agree, anonymity helps protect us all from fascism at every level - and think we deserve protection from that. But I don’t think people should be able to hide behind their fascism online. The practice of doxing on the left first started originally by exposing Nazis to their communities and the larger public by posting flyers online and in person. Nazis don’t deserve a place to hide.

I absolutely agree with that the "left" overall underestimates and doesn't understand the motivations behind a lot of right-wing bigotry/violence. I think it's worthwhile to try to get those who actually are just ignorant, misinformed, or inundated and surrounded by bigotry to such an extent that their own bigotry would be inevitable on our side, but they really i think are a minority of the right. much of the right is just in too deep and lacks the motivation or imagination to understand how the world is unfair and that they ultimately suffer for it, even if they benefit in a sense from various types of privilege. hope that makes sense.

Could you make a video about Neozapatismo and the current Zapatista movement? Subcomandante Marcos is similar to Fred Hampton and the Zapatistas did something called The Other Campaign that was very similar to the Black Panther Party's Rainbow Coalition.
They Zapatistas recently had a reorganization to further decentralize power in their movement and make it more resilient

free speech absolutism is absurd af to me. I agree with the points that guy made about criminalizing hate speech, and uniformed parades to an extent. My only problem with those things is with enforcement, given how the police and state aren't exactly invested in stopping fascism, and typically perpetuate and enable those things. I think we need a type of awakening in people to get more people on board with active anti-fascist work, and expect it's really more important for communities to become more active to actually enforce consequences for fascist violence.

    • @lucretia_macevil
      @lucretia_macevil  9 місяців тому +2

You’re totally right - we have to come up with ways to enforce these things outside of the Justice system and within our communities

    “Be moderate,” the trimmers cry,
    Who dread the tyrants’ thunder.
“You ask too much and people fly
    From you aghast in wonder.”
’Tis passing strange, for I declare
    Such statements give me mirth,
For our demands most moderate are,
    We only want the earth.

    • @lucretia_macevil

I ought to give credit-this is from “We Only Want the Earth” (1907) by Irish socialist James Connolly.
As you said, we don’t defeat fascism with half-measures, and that brought this great song back to me. A just world where everyone can live free of oppression is an extremely reasonable demand, and if it’s not considered moderate by the bourgeois, Eurocentric standards of polite society, that’s no reason to change our message.

Its so refreshing to see something that presents a path forward. Due to the algorithm, so much of left wing content online is just "look at what this idiot right winger said" and it gets to be depressing for me.
Also I liked the use of music in this video
