I have used small clips to attach the Hexpeak inner at half height to the outer (3 points). When those points on the outer are pulled out by guylines, it considerably increases the headroom in the inner. That gives me enough space at 6ft 1in. Again, not much wiggle room for anybody taller. I will get some attachment loops to sow on the seam of the Lanshan 4 season inner to achieve the same. I have a Lanshan 1 Pro which is big enough for me. So, I hope I can make that work, too.
Interesting, I might have a look into that. I found that if I attached the rear point you're talking about, it was very close to the flysheet, which wouldn't be great for windy/freezing weather, though I'm happy to be proven wrong! :D I do like the idea of expanded tie out points though. Thanks for your input as always and I'm glad you stuck around to watch the video, appreciate it!!

@@outlawedlandscapes he was keen on the T zips wasn’t he! Looking at it from outside, it’s to the right - so slightly tricky but I don’t mind it overly. It’s opening the full thing up using the T that would be handy.

I think about to buy the hexpeak but i don't know if it have enogh space for me in the inner tent. When my sleep- Setup is build in and my size(1,83m). What do you think?
Fantastic modification, when they get the outer back in stock might use this with my lanshan inner. What is the rough total weight of your modified tent minus pegs and stuff sack? Might use some 1.5mm dyneema cord to save some weight on less important guy lines as the stock ones seem quite heavy.
Hi mate, aye, it's a belter! I'd definitely stick with thicker cord as it all adds to the strength under load, I reckon the weight saving would be negligible. Speaking of weight, the fly is 660g and the 4 season inner is 369g, a total of 1029g. In terms of stuff sack, I'd quite like to get a hold of one around 15l that has an air valve built in. I reckon the pack size could get even smaller that way! Just more money to spend though 😬
@@outlawedlandscapes , the only way I could get the T-zipped 4-season inner was to buy a whole Lanshan 1 Plus (4-season). The roll-top stuff sack that comes with it is super-light (same sil-nylon material) and allows you to press all the air out. £100 is a bit much to pay for just a stuff sack :-) Anyway, I now have a super-solid and much lighter Hexpeak but also an even lighter tent (sub 1 kg all in) for summer camps in good weather (I managed to get the T-zipped midge-net inner, too). - Time to sell my Lanshan 1 Pro. Even lighter in summer but does not cope well with high humidity / Scottish drizzle due to the condensation.

Hi Outdoor Landscapes! I will be buying the V4A after research and your excellent videos on it. My only concern is the large footprint (fantastic in all other respects). Is it ok when pitched on less than perfect level/narrow ground?
Hi mate, I bought the inner you recommended, but I will be honest.. despite slowing your video to x0.25 speed, I don't think I have the ingenuity to set it up the way you have. I mucked about with just some bungy and although the bathtub wasn't perfect (never was with the old inner either) I think it might be ok for the single overnighters. What do you think? Also, how the feck did you repurpose the original line locks!? They are a sealed unit. I've been using others tents for the last year, so I'm looking forward to getting this out again, with the reduced weight. Oh, the pegs you mentioned, I just got the 15cm ones, but wow!! Not seen a vid from you in a while, hope you're ok?
Do you know which length you got? The standard Lanshan inner is 210cm. The ‘Plus’ is 230cm 🤔. Great testing and adaption. Ive got a Lanshan Plus with both 3 and 4 season inners. So getting a Hexpeak Fly is a definite cost effective option for winter! 👍
Fantastic video. I came across this tent and channel about an hour ago and certianly some great stuff. Do you have the link for the 4 season inner couldn't find it on your shortcuts. Hiya. How's your inner fairing? My J door Aliexpress one is OK, but some water came up from the ground (I think) on a particularly wet camp. Other than that, it's OK.
I was unsure about the lanshans' durability, and unsure about the hexpeaks' weight, but this is the best of both worlds! thanks for the vid. Now if only i could find a 140cm lightweight carbon tent pole for those non-trekking pole days. I'm having a bit of a hard time finding that length. Any suggestions, or how much can you deviate from that 140cm length?
Hi mate, I'm glad you found the video useful! I've found that nothing less than 140cm will work well and I actually ended up settling on a pair of Leki 'Voyager' poles. They are a decent price, extend up to 150cm, are rock solid once extended and fairly lightweight. The only downside is that they are twist locks instead of flick locks - the latter are handy for readjusting height from within the tent when the material settles at night. However, I've also found that flick locks are more likely to sag as temps change. I know Ray at RS Outdoors used Komperdell poles, but they are like hens teeth and are fairly expensive!
@@outlawedlandscapes thx for your reply. Everything arrived about a week ago. just pitched it to see what is what and make a little shopping list. The luxe pole seems to work well as it has a bit of extra length before the STOP sign. Still on the fence regarding seam sealing tho, not sure if you went down that road. Might try it out in the rain for an overnighter just to see if it is necessary...
@@Kenethica no problem, I’ve always just used trekking poles, as I bought the wee pole extender with the tent. Hope it works well for you 😀 In terms of seam sealing, I did mine, though it takes a good bit of care. Bob at backpacking light has a good video on the subject. I found that (pre sealing) the tent holds up well. Once it reaches saturation point I noticed the heavy gauge fabric tabs began to weep, so maybe best just to start with them. I did them from the inside as it was easier 👌🏻 Main seams were sealed from the outside though FYI
I managed to source the T-zipped version of the Lanshan 1 (long) 3-season inner from AliExpress. £50 shipped to the UK including customs duty. Took two weeks. It weighs 370 g, a 200 g saving on the Hexpeak stock inner. The T-zip adds 40 g to the J-zip which is explained in the video here, is on the wrong side.
I'm looking for a hexpeak, however it seems not available anymore. The German site seems also inactive for almost a year or so. Where to get this tent now?
Hi mate, you can try backpackinglight.co.uk - Bob the owner has taken a lot of the slack for the US providers downfall, so might be shipping to the EU as well 😁
So is this a Hexapeak fly and lanshan up 4 season inner ? Currently have the Terra Nova pioneer and not convinced ! For the money this looks brilliant especially as an outer first, but I’m not sure I could sort the modifications ?? 🫤 do use use a standard trekking pole ?
Haha 😛 I have a “how to pitch a Hexpeak” video that covers the mods too. It’s not as difficult as it may seem 🙂 For these tents you’ll need a pole that’s 140cm+. You can get a pole extender from backpacking light, but a dedicated pole is better in my experience.

Hope to see more videos on long walks from you too! Thats coastal patch you did was nice I may do it too one day.
@@gregoryoutdoors aye, a few wee exploratory trips will show you how well it performs 😁 I’ll keep nipping away at the ACP, still a couple of cracking southern sections to do when time allows. Hoping the next one will be a 2 day trip with a camp between 👌🏻
I have used small clips to attach the Hexpeak inner at half height to the outer (3 points).
Thanks for your input as always and I'm glad you stuck around to watch the video, appreciate it!!
great video
This will make the tent lighter and more usable
I will check it out
Definitely, even just changing the inner makes a huge difference to the weight! Thanks for watching 🙂
good video :) i have the same inner in the 3 season version for my hexpeak. works great and super light!
Thanks! Aye, the third party inners are definitely the way to go, the 3f ul ones are great too!
I finally got rid of my v4a and bought the f6a (it's big brother). Use the same 3ful inner. Appreciate the extra room.
Nice one. I've just bought a V4a, thanks for the videos. I had to get the fly from Germany, pole from UK and inner from China 😄. I got a J zip inner, 4 season. Didn't see your one, but mine does the trick and is 420g. Out on my first trip with it on SW coastpath this weekend. Have had it up and it pitches a treat - drum tight.
I'm glad they've reached you in time! 420g is still ~200g lighter - does it open on the left or right? Once it's pitched right, it's going nowhere 😀
Is there a 2 person, 4 season in the T zip as well?
Mine is double zipped and J on the right. I'll try it in a couple of configurations a d see what works best. Also planning to make a tyvek bathtub for spring/summer use. No midge problem on the tors of Dartmoor 😉
@@asclevas I’m not sure, but I haven’t seen one. The closest thing I’ve seen out there is a 3/4 sized 3 season inner, but a full sized one would be absolutely brilliant 😃
@@asclevas The Tyvek is a great shout, I use an asbestos disposal bag right now 😅
Maybe worth trying your inner pitched on the right hand side so that you’re straight in and out?
Hi, just saying thanks for your past videos. Even got me a Hexpeak. You have gone quiet on here, any more vids coming or you winding up your UA-cam channel like many other tubers ?
Hi! Thanks for commenting and I’m glad you got a hex, I’m sure it’ll be a great companion on your adventures 😁 Life circumstances have held me back as of late, but Coops and I shall return soon 💪🏻
Really good upgrade 👌
😁
Some nice jiggery pokey mods mate. That aw looks like too much hard work tho. I couldnae be ersed doing aw that. 😁😉 Like the look of the T zip like. I had to settle for the J zip as there was none in stock.
Will you be using the Lanshan inner from now on compared to the hexpeak inner?
Yass, it's yirsel!! Haha, aye, you know me though, always fannying around 😂 That's a shame though, the T-zip is great. Constantly out of stock though 🙄
Aye, defo! It's lighter than the 3 season one and opens right up for the warmer months, as long as the midges aren't too bad! 😅👌
The T zip is a great find. I still have the J on the asta gear inner but the T would be a big improvement. Gordon
Aye, I remember Ray talking about his T-Zip before and didn’t want to settle for anything else if I was going that way! The T-zips are notorious for being out of stock as well 😮 Did you get a right or left sided J zip?
@@outlawedlandscapes he was keen on the T zips wasn’t he! Looking at it from outside, it’s to the right - so slightly tricky but I don’t mind it overly. It’s opening the full thing up using the T that would be handy.
Hello from germany, hope you had a peaceful xmas- time. Your videos about the Sil Hexpeak are very intersting. Thank you very much for the time to create the videos.
Nice one mate I all ready have a lanchan 1 4 session inner I had my first night in the hexpeak v4a last night wow what a great tent so much room will be checking out your mod videos atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Excellent! :D I'm not sure how different a standard Lanshan 1 inner is to the plus, but if you have a go you can let me know how you get on!
@@outlawedlandscapes definitely will mate loving your channel myself and Roney my camp buddy got these tents after watching your video's 😎😎👍👍
@@LundysWildcampBushcraft Excellent 😁 Happy Camping! I love mine, especially when it’s rough outside. Just close that door and enjoy the silence while cooking away or reading 🙂
@@outlawedlandscapes happy day's mate 👍👍

Hi Outdoor Landscapes! I will be buying the V4A after research and your excellent videos on it. My only concern is the large footprint (fantastic in all other respects). Is it ok when pitched on less than perfect level/narrow ground?
Hi, awesome update on the hexpeak. Do you have the link for this inner? Cheers
Hope you're well. Will you be doing any more videos looking forward to your next outing
I might have missed, but is it possible to keep the inner attached (either the original or the one on this video) together with the fly?
I didn’t go into detail, but yes 👍🏻
@@outlawedlandscapes any idea on the best way to do that? Is it shock cord to the fly line loks?
Hi Dan, I bought the 230cm 'Plus' version, works a treat! 😀
@@outlawedlandscapes in that case, Hexpeak fly here I come! 😉👍
@@danholloway2468 Good luck and happy camping mate! 😁
Fantastic video. I came across this tent and channel about an hour ago and certianly some great stuff. Do you have the link for the 4 season inner couldn't find it on your shortcuts. Currently using OEX tents or hammocking most of the time and never heard of this brand before based on your vids this laughs in the face of wind. Keep it up :).
Thanks for watching mate, I'm glad you've enjoyed it! The Hexpeaks aren't well known, but those that do know love them, check out the trek-light forum ;)
I started out with OEX Phoxxes, loved the 2v2, but it was just too heavy to be lugging up hills with all my photo/video gear! If you look in the video description you'll find the links above the timecodes. Not sure if I can link them in the comments or if they'd get flagged as spam.
@@outlawedlandscapes Just wanted to check which version was it in the video, god forbid I order the wrong one. 210*75/90*112Cm OR 230*80/100*120Cm. Cheers
@@adamcharlton9049 sorry mate, away from my computer, if you pause the vid when the Aliexpress thumbnail is shown it’ll tell you, it’s the “1.5 plus” - first box on the left when it shows you the options. I’m fairly certain it’s sold out right now though 😬

Hope this means your videos will be coming out more consistently. I know it's important to you, to have your channel grow; putting out content on a regular/reliable basis is super important. Yeah, I also know, "life", lol Take care, be well
Please, remember that many UA-camrs don’t do this as their main job or earn any significant money from it. I’m grateful for the shared advice and experience whenever it comes.
Hi Gigi, I'm doing my best to find opportunities at the moment, time, inspiration and resources are hard to come by right now - which is quite frustrating to say the least, especially when I see my peers out and about in amazing places on a regular basis. The channel is definitely on my mind and I aim to up the ante as soon as possible. This is a video I'd planned for quite a long time though, it's certainly not filler content - I want to put info out there that might help people like myself 😀
Fingers crossed!
@@outlawedlandscapes Your content is awesome, and you deserve to have your channel get big. I know. Life, it can be a challenge. Take care and believe in yourself.
@@gigi3242 Thank you very much, I appreciate it 😁 In terms of overall growth, the channel has done well since I started posting (irregularly). I’d love to get my foot on the pedal and build up some momentum! 💪🏻
All in one pitch please !!!
Great to see you back! i hope your awful hand is good.
Haha, aye, currently getting a wee bit of snow so hopefully the stars will align and I’ll get some winter camping on the go! 💪🏻
There seems to be two sizes offered, can I make sure which one is correct ...Inner210*75/90*112Cm or /230*80/100*120Cm Tent
Hi, the plus inner is the 230cm length as it matches up with the new lanshan 1 2021 version
Do you think it will fit in the octopeak too?
I believe so, but the Octopeak is a lot bigger and it’d be a shame not to make use of all that space 🤔
I bet the 5 season is even better.
There's a hexpeak with snow bellows, though I'm not sure how breathable that would be 😬😅
I'm looking for a hexpeak, however it seems not available anymore. The German site seems also inactive for almost a year or so. Where to get this tent now?
Hi mate, you can try backpackinglight.co.uk - Bob the owner has taken a lot of the slack for the US providers downfall, so might be shipping to the EU as well 😁
@@outlawedlandscapes Thanks. I just contacted them.
Just seen the rest of the video 😂
Haha 😛 I have a “how to pitch a Hexpeak” video that covers the mods too. It’s not as difficult as it may seem 🙂
For these tents you’ll need a pole that’s 140cm+. You can get a pole extender from backpacking light, but a dedicated pole is better in my experience.
