    Try some 1/2in PVC pipe on your trigger, works for me. Great video.

    I’ve been trying to figure out lodges this year and what the lack of ice means- is it always related to activity or is it sometimes from ice not forming around sticks of the lodge and whatnot? Your videos are super helpful. I’m brand new trying to figure this out thanks

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  Рік тому

      Generally it's always due to some sort of activity. Sometimes it's from minnows dying in the pond searching for oxygen.

    Cool Video. I've never trapped beaver before. Here we need to apply for a beaver line and they are very hard to get. I'd love to do it though, I know of a few around. Trapping through the ice like you do looks like a pretty good way of doing it. We currently have 16 inches in the ponds, so I would have to go to moving water.

      @330Maniac  10 років тому +1

      We have over 40 inches of ice on our lakes and ponds right now Max. If you have an active beaver lodge like this one above you will also have very thin ice around it where they are working under the ice or above their entrances and exits from their lodge. If you get a chance to trap some I would recommend doing it pal it's a blast. Thanks for watching =D

      40 inches? Holy crap!! that is insane. So ice is thin around the lodges. Is that because the beavers are doing that? I hope to trap a few if I can ever get a line.

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  10 років тому +1

      Yup thats exactly why. All that traveling around under the can leave absolutley no ice around some lodges not even and inch if there is snow cover to insulate them.

      Good Knowledge to have. I guess that's why its easy to fall in.

    Also are pople sticks or potato/other veg better bait - I don’t do that many sets so I’d like to use what’s more attractive

    do you think that setting so close to the surface can allow for ice to encroach on the upper spring on the 330 which could allow for a poor catch or possibly a pull out? I've had this happen with smaller conis in bottom edge sets when it got really cold and the ice got deeper and deeper.

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  9 років тому

      Yes it definetley could but I make sure the entire set gets chopped out every four days or so. This way the ice depth won't reach the top of the spring.

    hey man good vidz just wondering if you have any advice on making an ice chisel.
    im up in canada lots of ice up this way lol

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  9 років тому +1

      I would spend a little cash and buy a good solid steel ice chisel it makes a world of difference when locating beaver runs.

    Just curious, did you come up with the potato idea yourself? Have you had success with it?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  9 років тому +1

      No I did not I heard from someone it worked good and they were right. Especially later in the winter but you will also get a few muskrats in your sets.

    I bet that was a rat that tripped the potato on the 330. I like using potato on 160 for rats

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  10 років тому +1

      Yup I bet it was also pal. I catch alot of rats in 330s going for beaver. This year a rat woulda been welcomed more then a small beaver lol.

    ever use pvc sticks on a 330

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  6 років тому

      Jake Lundgren Yes i have. I actually tested pvc against poplar sticks last year. The poplar caught more beaver than the pvc but it was nice not having to change the pvc out

    • @jakelundgren7933
      @jakelundgren7933 6 років тому +1

      so the pvc does work tho ....any other veggies other than potatos work on the 330s
