Never attack me. They come close and slap their tales. Swim aggressively

Have you ever tried underwater Snares for Beaver! I haven't seen you make a video on it yet!? I buy mine from Rally Hess in MN! He's got a Great Setup!
And they're alot lighter than the 330's, especially if you have to pack in a ways through deep snow!
Yes I have quite a few beaver snaring videos up. But you'll have to look back about 2 years in my uploads. I ordered 3 dozen on Monday. Hoping they will be here this week!

I haven't trapped since high school in the late 80s. Man watching your video's kinda makes me want to try it again.
I go trapping everyday. I love trapping more than hunting and fishing. I would recommend you bring a kid with you. They need fresh air and to learn something other than how to play videogames. The skills we learned were passed down by people. Keep the videos coming but bring a kid and change his life forever. Then you can die a happy man knowing that sacred knowledge was passed down.

You scare me handling that trap the way you do , as I do and believe your strength will hold the speedy release of it. I got away with that for 20 years. Thank God my son was with me some winters ago fisher trapping with 220s I was moving a trap so I held it same as you when it sprung. It cought both my thumbs at one time so fast you can’t imagine. As I was adjusting a trigger at the time sliding it along the jaw of the trap . Something I did a thousand times in life. After the pain alone then him getting me out. The thought of all the times I did this alone. I promised to use safety more . I suggest to your audience to use safety setters while alone in the field. Especially on ice . As I stated I did things as you do for most of the years I trapped the most. Not trying to nitpick your videos are fun for me to watch and I hope to cross paths someday . Good job
Thank you! As long as you keep your hands and fingers clear you won't run the risk of getting caught. Been beaver trapping for 26 years myself now and got caught twice when I was around 18. Much more careful now
@@330Maniac I know a guy who got his belly fat caught in one....I got both hands caught in them before. I was distracted by an argument i was having with a gf ....then wham on the one trap...then I turned around and caught the other hand into another trap that was set nearby. I yanked one hand out (i was wearing big mitts). I never use the safety setters either but my old man gives me shit everytime too.

330 have you ever had a beaver come out while you in the water trying to put a trap in?? I have it was a big big beaver & it definitely scared the crap out of me when it did!! He literally whent right between my legs & just about nocked me over!! After that I was a little more careful for sure!!! Awesome video buddy!!!

Great as usual. Going to have to set some more for the ol flat tail myself. Really get the fever watching your vids. Caught two and an otter in a small creek so far. Mainly hitting coyote and cats right now. Have six coyote and one big tom bobcat so far. Thanks again for the ride. Al

I have seen a trapper use a length of pex pipe bent under the ice to find the bank den or hole into the lodge. That’s how he determined where to set his traps and he did well

Your conditions are very similar to ours here in northern/central Ontario so i have been using your methods and the way I have learned to come up with my own hybrid strategy lol.. keep the videos coming! and if you get a chance check out mine, im having a hard time finding time to edit with work but lots to come!

Great videos! I have been using your techniques in the UP of Michigan. I would like to know how you would battle H2O level issues where the difference is up to 5 inches in a day. We have a similar set area like this video with lots of runs through the marsh grass. Our problem starts when Lake Huron shifts levels with the prevailing wind of the day or more then rapidly drops or rises. This leaves our 330s out of the prime set position. Thank you in advance. Keep up the great work!
Sometimes you gotta think like a beaver. I would switch to baited sets and snare sets. Just chop up a 3 inch poplar and set a bunch of snares. Set that sucker near the feed bed and bam! The conibears are my go to traps but sometimes changing things up allows for a lot more options. If the water level rises and lowers the bottom snares should nail them. Look up snarring beavers under the ice and let that knowledge blow your mind.
Beaver Trapper Thank you for that idea. It truly is about the only thing that I have not attempted. A bottom snare makes sense. My pole set snares are either too high or too low and fighting the same issue with the 330s is frustrating. My plan is to go forward closer to spring in some of the runs since I know where they are predominantly moving.
@@ranaldcarlson7730 no worries. I find sometimes....some spots no matter what you throw at it, it just won't work. Just keep trying different things. Also I learned from an old timer that if a beaver is missed and the trap was set off they will learn fast and sometimes even trigger a trap with a stick or in some crazy cases move out. PM if you need to and like I said there is more than one way to skin a cat

They eat the bark of branches that are submerged in front of their lodge. It's called a feed pile
@@330Maniac yeah I understand that. I was meaning when your trap wasn't fired off and you said that they would hole up in the lodge and not come out for several days. What do they eat then? Or do they just fast until they feel comfortable with leaving the lodge?
@wadewittman8510 a warden told me he was trapping a lodge. Got one but the other was trap smart. A month later he got it with a snare, it was about 20 pounds lighter than the first beaver but stretched the same size, his thought was it starved itself before trying to go through that 330's around the feed pile.
@@mikewhitman745 thanks for sharing that story! That's crazy what that beaver decided to go through 🤯. That's one helluva weight loss program 🤣.
When beavers travel on these runs from the house to the feed pile do they go by feel or do they see.
They see but their vision isn't fantastic
I have trapped extremely red muddy iron ore water as well as grey and tan clay water that there is no way they can see. Yet , they can travel 50 yards then take a turn down which ever feed run they want and always get there under water so I’d say your answer is feel although they see too as 330 said , not very well

@@timothyholloway3515 They definitely travel by feel as well. I trap the red and buffalo river. You can't see an inch into that water so they can't either.
