I understand your respect for privacy, I did visit an old station building at Hunnington on the old Halesowen line years ago and cheekily knocked on the front door of the old station, a very nice lady answered who allowed me access to see the platform edging in the garden and told me a nice story about the building, sometimes it's worth trying and asking, but I understand not all people are going to be that friendly, I was younger then and more braver than now, thanks for these fascinating stories.
Thanks for the video, I travelled on this line many times as a child. On the train - usually a single carriage at Easton Court Station, changing at Tenbury on to a Diesel Railcar to Bewdley or Kidderminster, can't remember which. Travelled with the driver on one or two occasions in the railcar. The level crossing at Little Hereford was operated manually, and sometimes the Engine driver had to open the gate himself if the gatekeeper was late/asleep.
I went by that station for the first time ever and it’s now a people’s home and the shelter is still here and I looked at station close I come across the railway bridge in the distance and I thought that’s where the railway line came down here
Anyone in 2024 still come back and re-watch Malcolm's vids ... though he is no longer here he left a great legacy in this channel. He inspired me to start my own channel exploring the railways of the Isle of Wight, I hope he knew how much of an inspiration he was 🙏
What a wonderful journey back in time along a beautiful stretch of countryside. Lovely to see the old Station still standing, and great also to see that the owners of the restored station building had kept the platform as a garden feature. Great job and thanks for sharing.
Well done! Beautiful countryside. There is so much to reminisce about with old railways. It breaks my heart to see them fall in to disuse. But nature has her way of integrating them back to her in a romantic sort of way.
A wonderful evening of railways around the Severn Valley. Yes, we did a visit during the summer on our way to Sutton Coldfield Model Engineers Track. Yes, this is another of my interests as well as the full size. Did 3 months in China and managed some steam for a week. Plus over a week of modern rail travel. Thank you ever so much for posting. Great Grandmother lived near Shrewsbury Uffington now visible from the bypass? One of her lovely stories as a young girl was a visit to the then main road to see if a car would pass this time!! How things have changed!
Good video! Actually, there is a long section going east from Neen Sollars which can be walked. It takes you over an impressive bridge over the river Rea and on through woodland. There is also, I believe, a tall masonry bridge next to the Peacock Inn between Newnham Bridge and Tenbury. This may now be out-if-date and sections on private land now, so be careful not to trespass!
There were three platforms at wofferton junction station two platforms are for the mainline services and the platform to the left near the semaphore signal would be the branch platform for the trains coming from bewdley via cleobury and tenbury and behind the signal box in the distance is the remains of the bridge and that bridge is no longer here behind the signal box next to the bewdley and tenbury railway branch branching off to the right
More importantly The train simulator has the site of wofferton station and I saw the entrance of the wofferton line after I was on the train leaving bewdley
You have done some studious, diligent, fairly painstaking excellent work. Perhaps you could "trespass", where and if possible by "mistake" etc a bit more but well done. Love it.
Such a pity lines were closed. I live in New Zealand these days and the same thing was happening here in the sixties, seventies. I was living in England when a lot of the lines closed. Thanx again for another great video.
A most enjoyable exploration, thank you. Any news on Newnham Bridge Station? I would just love to live in an old station like that, and do my best to sympathetically restore it to 1950/60s condition.
Excellent my friend, my mothers house backs onto the disused line that ran from Wolverhampton to kingswinford ? Now called Kingswinford railway/South Staffordshire walk it was owned by ''The Great Western Railway''. There are a couple of great stations still existing. One at Wombourne & Newbridge. The line walk is very much intact. Also an excellent ironbridge near Compton that crosses the Staffs & Worces Canal. Have you walked it ?
Excellent videos you did there, always wondered if the whole route was available to walk along :-) We were very sad hearing about the housing association buying Newnham Bridge Station. To them, land for more houses to be built on obviously is of more value than rescuing British heritage unfortunately. My wife and i viewed this station inside and out when it was still on the market during the summer of 2007 but priced at around £250,000 and lots of work to be done, we decided to give it a miss....if only crowdfunding was available back then we would've raised the cash & rescued it quite happily. Still got lots of photo's and poss video of the station and grounds somewhere in my hard drive, let me know if you want some emailed over.
Yes I would be interested in the photo's. info@shropshirerailways.co.uk Alternatively you could post them directly onto the Shropshire Railways Facebook page. Thanks
I have walked from my caravan in dowels rd to the bridge across the Severn then up to the main rd.your films are great are they on DVD my name don Westwood thanks again
Newnham Bridge Station buildings have been for sale for some time - I understood (from local word of mouth) that the site had in fact been sold and was to be redeveloped as yet more housing. But (as of November 2017) there is a For Sale board up again, so perhaps, even yet, the station might be saved from oblivion.
The Trams use to go from Kidderminster to Stourport. The Bewdley People had a vote and did not want the Canal or the trams. Or even a lock above Stourport. Gpx

Newnham Bridge is now in private hands and the new owner is sympathetically restoring the station and all the buildings. Looks very nice now

loved the journey, please that Newham station is still there, hopefully to be restored by someone, Regards Peter
It will be very sad if it isn't restored in it's present form Peter.

According to Google Earth Newham Bridge station is still there but so overgrown it`s a job to spot.

Thanks for your comment. I haven't walked that line yet, but it is on the plan!

And all will be lost forever sadly!
very well done.
Newnham Bridge station is owned by a Housing association whom bought it in November 2007 . I know i tried to buy it from them in the summer of 2009 .
Great video
Anyone got info of Bewdley to stourport line?
Or Upton on Severn station?
I have walked from my caravan in dowels rd to the bridge across the Severn then up to the main rd.your films are great are they on DVD my name don Westwood thanks again
Re the station at 5:19 - even the smaller side building would do me for a home and I would make it look as it did. As I`m skint, well..............lol
I love at the railroad now so you went to my hoise
RIP
