  • This old disused railway line criss-crosses its way through the counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire, starting on the Severn Valley Line at Bewdley and finishing at Woofferton Junction on the Shrewsbury to Hereford Line. In part one I explore the line through the Wyre Forest from Bewdley to Cleobury Mortimer. There are a series of old stations and bridges which I hope to find and explore. I lived in Buildwas cottage as a child, across from the abbey and remember the trains. I would always wave at the train when it when past. So loved living there.

This is an exceptionally beautiful part of the country made all the more-so with the steam train passing along the line. I've never been to the Wyre Forest, but have every intention of doing so after seeing this video.

Very good exploration of one of my favourite lost lines. As a child, I have many memories of walking sections of this line. I particularly remember, as a five-year-old, walking over the road bridge over the Highley road near Bewdley and the next bridge into the Wyre Forest. These bridges stood until September 1978.

On a visit to the SVR last week and going into Bewdley from the north, I caught sight of what looked like the remains of bridge piers. I thought I must investigate that further. I happened upon your excellent videos and there it was - Dowles Bridge on the Bewdley to Woofferton railway. Thank you. I enjoyed this video and the others very much. Keep up the very good work!

I’ve been here to the seven valley railway numerous times and the things I saw were the remains of the branches that used to connect to the seven valley railway

There is a lot more of this section that is perfectly walkable. There is a lot you missed, including a large viaduct over the Rea, near Neen Sollars. Nearby is a similar viaduct, originally constructed to carry the defunct canal. Both well worth a shufty :-)

Hello! I first saw the bridges near Bewdley when a group of my fellow Brummie students and I went to Bewdley for a Sunday afternoon drive (my auto-correct keeps changing Bewdley to bawdily, some form of Freudian slip, I suppose). I also found a photo of Neen Sollars station at a railway preservation centre. My interest was confirmed. I congratulate you on a deeply, not to say painstakingly, researched video on the line. As one now living in Toronto, I don't think I will ever get to walk the branch myself - your filming more than makes up for that. Look forward to your next one!

My brother and I visited this yesterday. The height of the embankments is impressive. It is unfortunate that the whole length is not opened up, it ought to be.

Bewdley Station wouldn't have changed much because it was on an under invested line and went from British Rail to preservation line almost overnight. I'm old enough to remember when a diesel railcar ran the triangle line between Kidderminster, Hartlebury, Stourport, Bewdley, and back to Kidderminster.

Yeah because that station avoided being chosen to be closed for the beeching axe but it cling on until the 1970s
