It's worth knowing that Boss's AIRD Cabs are way more realistic than an IR is capable of. Unlike an IR, they simulate the push-pull response between the amp and the cab and react dynamically. An IR is a static snapshot of the EQ curve captured from a specific mic placement on a speaker when a flat power amplifier is sending through a signal at fixed volume. So it's not capable or dynamically reacting or distorting. AIRD however is an alternative that does capture those qualities.
Good, smart comment. Thanks. What do you play? I had a FM9 T but sold it. Did not like the interface- not for $1845 anyway. I plan to replace it once Fractal updates that dated UI. This UI looks cheap and old too but for the price it look great!
I've had my ME-80 for years and love it it's always used. I also use mine with an effects loop as well as split left and right into two amps through different signal chain into front of those amps and effects loop into another amp. Kinda wish I hadn't seen this video, as looking at these nice subtle improvements makes me want to go out and get one right now. Thanks for the very good demo.... I'm sold.

I loved my ME-80. The tactile nature of the setup makes it easy to learn what settings do what (rather than menu diving for that 1 other setting in a patch to break it down) and easy to teach to others, plus re-creating others patches is a matter of them telling you what knob=what setting. Simple!

Then how do you recall those "scenes" by a 2 digit number? or you need to scroll up and down the number sequence? This makes Boss Me90 unit only good for impromptu fiddling but not for stage performance.
Thanks for the video Paul. I recently got my ME 90 and am digging into all the great tones. Not sure if you have another video covering this but how did you save the settings you made in manual mode to recall after powering off and on? Are they saved with the Edit/write and stay the same when you go back into Manual Mode. Lastly, is it possible to save multiple patches in manual mode or do you just have the one and change the settings with the knobs? Thanks for any help. Cheers, nj ✌
No doubt lots of folks will be excited to get the upgraded floor unit. For me the AIRD drives (same as on the GX100) were not nearly as good as my drive pedals; the modulations more limited than Line6. So it didnt make sense just to use it for the form-factor. But if you like the individual fx from AIRD or If you currently use several Boss pedals, its a no brainer replacement which is probably easiest multifx to set up.
I think this pedal board is way more interesting than Katana amps. This with an amp adapted to modelers and you're in business. Makes me almost swapping my Boss Nextone for this setup. Only because it doesn't have the Nextone tube compression/alike. A bit more, I wouldn't even hesitate. Don't get me wrong, I got boutique gear but the power of this multi effect, damn...
I've got a lonely GT-1000 sitting here rarely ever getting used because I don't want to go menu diving. All I want from a multiFX unit are the modulation, time, and expression effects. I suspect I would use the ME 90 more than the GT-1000, since I rarely play the same tone twice. I dial something up, record with it, then never see it again. I kinda wish they had a separate loop just for the expression section.
I've owned an ME 80. Loved it--except the digital distortion. So I went and got a Boss BE 5 from the 80s. It's got real analog distortion which sounds amazing. How come we've gone backwards??
Great demo and looks perfect for a Luddite like me for home use as I gave up on a HX stomp and its myriad of menus and settings but why no Aux in to be able to play backing tracks???
Hi, asking everyone who has one about max delay time? It says 800 ms is the most for any delay. ME 70 is 7 seconds and I have found uses for that that I now need...
My me 80 has been good to me, as a way of controlling two amps and multiple pedals. I rarely use anything but the preamp and compressor (to tame the power of two 100watt amps). It can get loud...
Love it. I really enjoy watching you play. With the Bluetooth adapter, can you use it to play out to a Bluetooth amplifier or is it only for signals going into the ME90? Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Are the outputs TRS, in other words, can you use TRS to XLR cables to FoH connection? My existing two multi-effects do have this feature, makes it very convenient, not needing extra gear except for a TRS to XLR cable to plug into FoH.
I like the way you set your tones but I was wondering can you assign two separate footswitches one to go from clean to crunchy rhythm tone and the other footswitch to add a boost or stack another overdrive? without the need to attach an external pedal. Because I set my pedalboard exactly the same as you but I want this to be an all in one throw in the gig bag situation.. I dont want to add external pedals I have my analog rig for that.
Great vid. I have an ME 50 that I use in manual mode when playing live as there is a time lag when switching between memory patches. Has this anomaly been resolved on the ME 90?
Could you tell me if the switches are assignable in the editor, for example have 2 delays of different intensities and two reverb levels assigned to four custom switches ? Thank you
I've had this unit for 7 months now and loved it til stopped working. Now no sound. Cables were all good so I tried the factory reset and still nothing.
Great video, Paul, but just one question, please. Why do you use the AIRD AMP when running into a physical amp and a speaker box? I thought you'd just need it DIing into a PA or computer for recording?
Hi there, great work as always! Is it possible to run the unit with cab sim ON to the PA and with it OFF to the input of a guitar amp on stage at the same time?
Thanks Paul and the team at The Studio Rats! Your tones are always absolutely on-point. Enjoy the ME-90.
Would love to see that Freeze pedal effects added to the GT-1000 ;)

Would've loved to have had either a single XLR Mono out OR at the very least a 1/4 TRS stereo headphone out for FOH.
Thanks for the review and information. Is there a looper?
Yes there is
Hey, do you think this one has better amp simulation and effects than Hotone ampero?
Pretty much anything has better effects than that toy. It has a cool screen at least. I had one. It went back real quick. Rubbish.
I dont want to add external pedals I have my analog rig for that.
thats exactly how I do it. cheers
What is up with these ME spring reverbs?
96 vs 48 sample rate is audible? thxs.
I love this. There is nothing quite like the ME range. How long is the looper length?
Up to 38 seconds of playback!
@@BOSSinfoglobalis there a tap tempo?
@@BOSSinfoglobal I love it, and I do wish it had 5 minutes of looper length, then I could play solo gigs with it.
Great vid. I have an ME 50 that I use in manual mode when playing live as there is a time lag when switching between memory patches. Has this anomaly been resolved on the ME 90?
I’ve seen other videos where they switch presets and there’s absolutely zero lag whatsoever. It’s very smooth.
Hi, is there a noise gate on the me90? Thanks
Just curious, are the options on the ME90 basically the same options available in the Boss Katana Tone Studio but on a board?
Could you tell me if the switches are assignable in the editor, for example have 2 delays of different intensities and two reverb levels assigned to four custom switches ?
Thank you
Boss Me 90, Mooer GE 250 or Nux Trident?
Great tones, is there a noticeable amount of latency if any at all?
I've had this unit for 7 months now and loved it til stopped working. Now no sound. Cables were all good so I tried the factory reset and still nothing.
Did you fix it by now?
Complimenti! Una domanda. In questo video stai utilizzando ir oppure i cab associati a ciascun ampli? Grazie
Cheers, I’m using the built in ir’s

Great video, Paul, but just one question, please. Why do you use the AIRD AMP when running into a physical amp and a speaker box? I thought you'd just need it DIing into a PA or computer for recording?
it is di'ed
Hi,this me-90 its a massive step up compare to old GT1? I only mean tones and sounds,no matter the rest for me,thanks..
Hi there, great work as always! Is it possible to run the unit with cab sim ON to the PA and with it OFF to the input of a guitar amp on stage at the same time?
Great questions
