Great video. Nice pedal. I am going to build a pedal board amo and this thing is fine. Two presents is plenty. A crunch sound that I just lower the volume on the guitar for cleans and a present for a boogie Mark two C for lead and heavy stuff since that's 85 percent of what I play and I would use a micro pitch delay and a way maybe and I'm home! Might add a tube screamer in front and would want a FRFR cab for hearing myself and that's all I need. Small pedal board and easy setup. ❤ Great video and it sounded great to me . I don't need loads of amps. Just clean and dirty or crunchy and dirty. ❤
I just got an IRig HD X to run Tonex as a mobile IOS rig for streaming, small gigging, practicing out of the studio, etc. This Boss pedal just makes wonder if i should trade the Irig for the Boss. Please i'd love to know your thoughts on this. I've been watching your Tonex videos and playing your Matchbox 35 capture which sounds awesome by the way. Also the IOS stuff is more complicated to connect and still don't know how i'm gonna manage to switch presets without floor switches. Right now by hand...hahaha. Thanks so much for your great videos!

Great stuff guys, kinda interested in more info on how you connect this in a live situation. Do you use a separate DI? How do you influence what you hear in your in ear, do you have a separate channel? What about the pa sound, how do you/your sound guy correct for the pa-speakers own sound or do you adjust the Boss IR-2 on what u use? Rock on, Bob
Bought one yesterday ... and returned it today. The tones in this video are amazing, but I couldn't get my IR-2 to sound anywhere near them. Tried every pedal I own (Boss, Keeley, Walrus, etc, so not junk). Ran thru my DAW via a Universal Audio Volt interface and directly thru headphones. Used single-coils, P-90s, and humbuckers. The clean tones were OK at best, but the higher gain tones were awful.
Great video, guys! I have my IR-200 and like Lee I gravitate towards to the Boss own X Hi Gain. I would really like to know which Ownhammer IRs Lee is using. If Boss would update the amps for the IR-200 to be the same like the IR-2 that would be awesome.
@@zacharysmithingell5460 To be fair, the stock amp selection is great, you can do everything you want. With every amp having three modes I sisn't really miss anything yet. The boss own preamps have always been great. I still use the Natural Clean on my GP-10. Choose a less bassy cab (4x12 always have too much bass). Such a lovely crunch.
It would have been good to have independent outs for A and B. That way you could run A to the fx return on an onstage amp, and run B to the mixing desk.
Could you possibly share what irs you used? They sound great and I always find myself lost in choice on irs, with too many variants and mics, etc. Thanks for the vid!

I wish that the 200 had the Soldano and Rectifier amp types as well as a stereo loop, but I think I'd like the 200's menu and way to adjust better...
I love my IR-2... Stopped micing my HRD and I'm so happy with it. But, as I own all Boss gain pedals (except some new digitals) I am kinda disappointed with how it reacts to them... Modulations sound great in it's eff.loop but I only enjoy using my BD-2 and OD-2r in front...
We've been juggling around many pedals that we forgot to focus on spending more time improving our playing which really matters most. Take away all the fancy effects then we'll see how our playing sounds like. I too am guilty.

Great video and it sounded great to me .
Great video, strongly considering this as a helix backup!
What is that beautifully blue guitar?
Great video guys! Could you please do a similar gigging review with the headrush prime? Cheers
It's really great. I'd like to know if there are some differences in tone and feel between this and boss me90 or Gx100 (which i like as a format)
Killer tones you guys got out of this box!
but it's not out of the box - they're using a non-stock IR.
very frustrating.
I get that but from the demos I have heard, it does sound very good stock and loading an Ownhammer V30 IR seems pretty easy with this unit. @@johnnymcribblestonebreaker5910
Ooow I like that sounds great ..excellent review 👍👍
Wow, I just purchased one of these based on this video. The modded tone is wicked. What Ownhammer IR is Lee using? :)
Boss deserve his name.
Great demo! I would love to hear your thoughts on the Two Notes Opus! I own a ToneX and a bunch of modelers and amps, and it has really blown my mind.
Great review! Thanks! Can you tell which ir did you use inside Boss IR2 ?
I think your main problem is the IRs. If you have a good IR, it's gonna sound good.
yaaa me too
Wonder what the Guv'nor sounds like in front if it?
Great video, guys! I have my IR-200 and like Lee I gravitate towards to the Boss own X Hi Gain. I would really like to know which Ownhammer IRs Lee is using. If Boss would update the amps for the IR-200 to be the same like the IR-2 that would be awesome.
Just picked up my ir200 and I'm hoping for this, too.
@@zacharysmithingell5460 To be fair, the stock amp selection is great, you can do everything you want. With every amp having three modes I sisn't really miss anything yet. The IRs seem to be much more important for the sound and I had a lot of success with the IRs I use on other things too.
Have fun with your IR-200!
Own Hammer V30 4x12
@@LA.Guitar Thanks Lee! You have great sounds with these.
@@LA.Guitarwhich cab model was it please? Own hammer do loads of v30 4x12s :) I use their friedman 4 x 12 in my helix as my go to cab ir
sounds awesome
The intro was juicy
This pedal seems like a no brainer at that price even just as a backup. Sounds great to me.
I know. First time I ever got gas for one. Cheers.
I love the IR-2, but his tones are awesome. Is it possible to know what IRs Lee is using? They make such a huge différence.
OwnHammer V30 4x12
@@LA.Guitar Thank you, I’m gonna try that!
If they ever get in stock in Canada again I will definitely be getting one. Oh but then there is NAMM in a few weeks... hmmm... and on and on it goes.
Lee mentions using OwnHammer IRs, but doesn't say which particular ones he's using. Can you tell us? :)
Wow! What IR was he using for the modded tones at the beginning of the video?
If I didn't have a Dream 65 i'd try this. Rock on, boys.
What IRs were you using? They sound great!🎸🎸🎸
What guitar is that your using @8;28?
And is that the Boss clean setting? Sounds great.
@@xenod1066 that’s a Nik Huber Krautster
If only I could get me one 😢 … great playing guys.
Yeah, they're sold out everywhere. I happened to randomly get on Amazon two days ago by chance. Randomly check Amazon - they pop up occasionally.
great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
The boss own preamps have always been great. I still use the Natural Clean on my GP-10. Choose a less bassy cab (4x12 always have too much bass). Such a lovely crunch.
It seems to cave in with the drive pedal. Shame that modellers with external drive pedals still doesn’t seem to work very well
Sounds great guys, it really does. I just want to know one thing, does that tele have stock pickups in it, or modded a bit
@@Terrysoddy it’s originally an Esquire with one pickup, I had a Seymourduncan fitted in the neck.
@@TheStudioRats Ok great. Hey thank you for the reply and info, and keep up all the awesome demo,s of great gear
Anybody knows what is the exact model of that tele? Sounds awesome!!!
It sure is fat sounding
It’s a 59 Esquire CS
@@TheStudioRats what pickups are in it?
It would have been good to have independent outs for A and B. That way you could run A to the fx return on an onstage amp, and run B to the mixing desk.
Boss have great RD team
Could you possibly share what irs you used? They sound great and I always find myself lost in choice on irs, with too many variants and mics, etc. Thanks for the vid!
Own hammer v30 4x12
Btw, what pickups do you have on the Tele, especially the bridge?
I pre-ordered an IR-2 back in December, and as much as I like what I've seen and heard, I'm feeling like it's limited in adjusting things, compared to the IR-200. I wish that the 200 had the Soldano and Rectifier amp types as well as a stereo loop, but I think I'd like the 200's menu and way to adjust better...
Hi thank you for the video!!!!!which pickup bridge do you use?i have a alnico 2 humbucker in my neck.Merci pour ce que vous faites continuez ;)
Sd1 fica bom?
Distortion pedals are not supposed go in the effects loop of any guitar amp.
@@PedroBrando true, but as I said "in front" I meant before the IR-2. Merry Christmas
We've been juggling around many pedals that we forgot to focus on spending more time improving our playing which really matters most. Take away all the fancy effects then we'll see how our playing sounds like. I too am guilty.
Can anybody help me identify that P90 + Humbucker at 8:39? What a beauty!!!
Huber krautster
JEeBus Rice! Is that a fender noiseless on that tele? are you gating? That really is a mean tone on that Modded setting. Cheers.
Not noiseless and no gate used
I see that both outputs are being used with only one input. Does that mean that it's taking the mono guitar signal and putting it into stereo?
Great demo and playing! One question which OwnHammer IRs did you choose? Thanks!
Hi John, I think Lee has answered this in some other comments below. He is away at the moment but I’m sure he will answer when he gets back.
It genuinely sounds great. Gear hype does nothing for my cynical pessimistic arse, but this thing sounds good across the board
What Owenhammer IR's are you using?
Sounds great
Excelent vídeo guys! I couldn’t figure out what was the first position you played, what amp was?
Cheers Nic, I think Lee was in the xmod setting
Killer review! Both of them!!! Big love from Arkansas. Do you know if he ran it into a DI box or line isolator when playing live?
Into a DI box yes
Thank you! Keep up the great work! I share your videos all the time!!!
Is running it into a DI box better than just running it straight into PA?
@@timetnaa DI box means a balanced signal which eliminates any potential noise. At a gig there’s cables and power cables everywhere, lots of potential for noise. A balanced signal will eliminate that
@@LA.Guitar did you use a passive or an active DI box?
