I just ordered one. I was scared that in 2023, anything being produced anymore with modern sound quality would be some touch screen, deep menu driven nightmare. As usual, BOSS delivered. THANK YOU for making a quality sounding multieffect that doesn't work like a freaking iPad.
Dagan I was waiting on your review before I purchased the Boss ME90 to replace my ME80 and I'm sold brother. Sorry I couldn't order from PMT as I'm USA based and had to purchase from a USA based company but it was you sir who convinced me to upgrade. Love your content and thank you for all the wonderful reviews. Hopefully PMT will come to the USA in the future. Cheers!!
Dagan has an unbelievable array of tricks that He pulls off flawlessly and with little effort. Just a total badass , Hes probably the best player on youtube...easily
I've Literally Waited THIRTY YEARS For This EXACT MultiFX Processor To Be Invented & Made Ready for the Public!! FINALLY - A Very Useable Processor That Has EVERY ONE of MY Effects and BEST OF ALL, it Doesn't cut out when switching!! Took you guys Long Enough...
I have the ME80 absolutely love it, it's a solid unit, I was wondering when Boss would release a new version, Def going to compare the two, most likely will grab the 90, great stuff
Dagan's channeling Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 12:25 "Come with me...and you'll see....Dagan's got M90 admiration........". This is the M80 Ive always wanted. I love Katana's but I forget what I have set unless I plug it into Tone Studio. I love my GX-100, except now I'm into menus and stuff, or obscured assignments for the switches, especially if you borrow or buy the occasional patch. This unit is the unholy union between an ME80 and a GX-100. Ill be setting a persistent search query in the US to find one when it drops here.
The early ME's had Analog drives controlled digitally, which is quite astonishing in itself..Boss are a truly GREAT company. Well done,as usual, Dagan.I bought the GT1000 Core from PMT.
Not completely convinced to swap out my ME 80 just yet. Though, I'm pretty sure if I keep watching this video, Dagan will convince me to buy 2 of these.
I'm still using my ME-50 for small gigs and hosting jams. I wasn't convinced enough for my tone preferences and usage that I needed ME-80 when a few friends got them.
Looking for my first pedal board to go with first Tube Amp (Marshall Origin 20). Research suggests I’d end up with a suite of Boss OD, Distortion pedals etc then this effectively provides all the necessary bang for buck. Easily slide it under the sofa when not in use and no array of pedal boxes and cables on the floor! Seems like a winner. Love the Reviews. 👍🏼
Call me crazy but that "tune down" effect is where the selling point is of me 90. If more demoes show that it really does track well, then Im a buyer, no questions asked!
@RiffMusic1970 Exactly! It's fuckin expensive. Used to own one once upon a time until I ended up with my Line 6 hx stomp and hx effects. Not to mention they'll climb in price since Digitechs fallout. And while I had the mesa boogie ii suite from Neural DSP in mind to purchase as my sound, looks like I might reconsider it for me 90. And potentially selling the hx stomp for one. Life is full of surprises lol
@Bob-tp3nx I'm pretty sure it does. You need an input, output, and an effects loop. I've seen many comments saying they do plan on doing 4CM with their Boss Katana amps.
I remember buying a couple of multi-effects units by Ibanez in 1983...2 years after their release in 1981. The UE 400 & the UE 405. They each had 4 effects plus an effects loop to place your own 5th pedal in the chain. A nice touch was that you could change the order of effects by turning a knob on each effect from 1 to 5. Built well too... a friend is still using his UE 400 to this day! This isn't the first video I've heard that Boss invented the multi-effects unit in 1985... but the Ibanez preceded them by a few years. Just some trivia to pass along. Cheers!!!
But the UE400 and UE405 is a rack unit. Not a fair comparison to an effects pedal unit. It seems BOSS did indeed make the first portable multi effects unit. Rack gear is not something you just throw in a bag and go.
so pleased this came out, I've been using my me 80 for the last 5 years and now the 90 is out its a no brainer to upgrade to this one. straight in the Pa or into my work horse amp. Boss is my choice from now on.
Digging how you went from the "Delta bluesy Dirt on the bottom of my boots" rock riffage straight into the "Dad that used to play guitar in a band 30 years ago" cowboy chords 🤘🤣
my opinion is a cropped version of the gt-1000, but the effects with effects control are brought to the panel for the convenience of working on stage, the sound is the same, but the possibilities are slightly less than in the gt-1000
I still rock the ME-70. The 80 didn't really make me want to upgrade but I might be interested in one of these. Be cool of it could integrate with my Boss Katana 100w head
I've been listening to guitarist's since I was a baby, and I'm one myself, and I have to say Dagan seriously plays beautifully!! You are so good, and maybe someday I can reach that level. I'm only 4 months in, so I'm a noob. But, I know music and you Sir, are an excellent guitar player.🤩🤩
Thanks for this video. You narrate just enough to explain things..I get sooo sick of these other channels where people talk and talk and TALK! One thing’s for sure, you make that ME 90 smoke. I haven’t gotten quite there yet ( I just got it yesterday)..so I hope your system didn’t color it too much and I can get close to some of those tones. Thanks again for your straightforward, succinct video. I’ve become a fan.
I’ve had so many multi FX , amps and pedals but this is really calling to me due to the lack of screens and menus, I would spend more time playing a big stomp box 🤟🏽
I'm getting one. I always like how the earlier versions were laid out but after a while the sound would wear on me and I'd stop using them. I think boss has finally nailed it. Good video and playing.
I still have my boss ME-70 as well such a great multi effects pedal system. This one looks just as great. I am currently running the boss GT-1000 these days.
This will, IMHO, cannibalize on GX-100. Makes much more sense for a lesser price. While the touch screen on GX-100 is nice the whole UI feels like 2-gen old handheld gaming console. Hell, I just happily settled with Line6 Helix and now I'm thinking about getting back to BOSS because of ME-90. Even if just for backup EDIT: Also it will be very strong in similarly priced competition. Like Ampero, Valteon GP, Headrush MX5. It kinda boggles me that Boss didn't come up with something like this when the AIRD technology was brand new - with or few months after GT-1000
great review. Overall a great update to this line of pedal and I will definitely be purchasing one in the near future. I particularly like the feedback function which I haven't seen before on a pedal and something I occasionally struggle with live depending on the room and setup at a gig. Even though it might be a little artificial, it's a cool feature that I can't wait to have a play with.
I currently have a Line 6 Firehawk. It has been outdated the instant it came out and have been looking to replace it, especially after buying an EVH Iconic. This demo may have convinced me to replace it.
I'm nearly 50 soon, and just joined a grunge coverband. I have a DS-1 and a SD-1, and I thought of getting single BOSS pedals to complete my pedalboard. Now I have seen this video Dagan has effectively saved me a ton of money! I am sold on the ME90 and I would like to thank Dagan and PMT for this video. Used to live in Oxford odd 20 years ago, and I really miss those days going down Cowley Road to spend time in PMT. Still the best music store in the world IMHO. Love from Malaysia
I use ME-50 as my #2 rig for small gigs & jams. R U serious? So many of them to choose from. I use DST+ or GUV with Drive 10, Bottom 7, Tone 7 and Level 5. Tone Modify on Enhance. I roll the guitar volume to 6/7 for rhythm and 10 for leads. Every guitar sounds good thru it
Best rocking tones I've heard from dragon the 🐉 dragon... I bet you played this till your fingers lit up... You need this for your style... bloody well Lite it up thru the night ..
Boss needs to thinker this new ME90 processor into the newer version of Katana or replace some of the tones on the Dual Cube LX... Great review Dagan, as always!
I've got to get one to go dorect for small gigs and solo jams with backing tracks. This thing wiuld be perfect. So glad it has an effects loop for the Eventide pitch delay. Got to have that Steve Vai crossroads tome🤘🤘♥️
I have a Helix too (owned it for about 3 or 4 weeks). Just was wondering about this thing because I was interested in it back when the ME-70 was the latest release, but I couldn't afford that at the time (broke college student days lol). I really like that the Helix has a GUI on it and can connect to the HX Edit app for easier preset creation. Wondering what the ME-90 is capable of in comparison. Probably won't get it since I already invested heavily into the Helix and it does what I need so far. If you end up getting this instead, please share your experience in comparison to the Helix though.
I had a lots of pedals boards and i miss every time my boss me-50 because of good sound and simple interface! For shure im going to buy this! Im tired of menus and trying to save every preset that i want to play
I had a Boss ME-5 I bought used back in the late 80s. I'm old as dirt! LOL! I ran a stereo guitar rig. Have you recovered from the stunt driving/restringing the tele? That was INSANE!
Dagan.....HELP!!! I watched your review over the NUX Trident an now about the Boss ME90.... AND NOW I'M CONFUSED!!!! Please give me your honest opinion. Seen you reviewed them both, wicht one would you choose and why??? Greetzzz
I was on another UA-cam channel. And heard some commotion lol. So i jumped on here and seen Dagan doing a review with Boss product. Oh ok makes sense now 😂😂. Good reviews by Dagan. I like Boss products too. Thanks man 😎👍💯🎸🎸. Now F off. Got shit to do now 😂😂😂👍✌️✌️. I like the Brits and Aussies 😊😊. Mates and Blokes can rock 👍💪💯
Is that "Centa OD" setting supposed to be like a Klon Centaur? He wasn't really clear but that's what I believe it is, and it sounded pretty good! As did the Big Muff, I would like to hear the Rat too! Its cool that they're modeling more specific overdrive sounds rather than 'Modern' 'Classic' and the like that appeared on the earlier MEs.
I just ordered one. I was scared that in 2023, anything being produced anymore with modern sound quality would be some touch screen, deep menu driven nightmare. As usual, BOSS delivered. THANK YOU for making a quality sounding multieffect that doesn't work like a freaking iPad.
I loved the ME30, the ME70 and the ME80. The more they look like a pedalboard with a lot of single pedals, the more I love them!!
Dagan always does the best demos
Dagan I was waiting on your review before I purchased the Boss ME90 to replace my ME80 and I'm sold brother. Glad I could help!
Dagan has an unbelievable array of tricks that He pulls off flawlessly and with little effort. Just a total badass , Hes probably the best player on youtube...easily
Thank you, mate! 🤘🤘
I think that in my advanced age, I judge amp sims/modelers by how well they do a distorted tone.
Worth watching just to listen to Dagan’s playing
I knew I could count on Dagan to explain it better than anyone else. Cheers mate!
I had already ordered one today before this video showed me how cool this thing actually is. Thanks!
I've Literally Waited THIRTY YEARS For This EXACT MultiFX Processor To Be Invented & Made Ready for the Public!!

I have the ME80 absolutely love it, it's a solid unit, I was wondering when Boss would release a new version, Def going to compare the two, most likely will grab the 90, great stuff
I must be old I had the Boss ME-5 and loved it recording many demos on my old Tascam Porta One four track machine lol!
Me too...bought my ME5 back in 1990, played loads of gigs with it, and had it for years. I guess I'm old too 😂
Dagan's channeling Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 12:25 "Come with me...and you'll see....Dagan's got M90 admiration........". This is the M80 Ive always wanted. The early ME's had Analog drives controlled digitally, which is quite astonishing in itself..Boss are a truly GREAT company.
Well done,as usual, Dagan.I bought the GT1000 Core from PMT.
Nowadays, that's rare. Most units of analog drives controlled digitally are made by Sansamp.
If I remember correctly, the older GT series also have analog drive circuit....
Same here. Is the engine really noticeably better than the COSM of the ME80
Incredibly in-depth and helpful review. Thanks for all of the examples you provided - and extremely well played! I'm sold.
Like a BOSS!😎
How have they not capitalized on that yet? 😆

Yeah, the Digitech Drop pedal is over $200 by itself.

Same. Also would like to know if 4 cable method is possible. The manual doesn't really have anything on that nor do any of the current demos
@Bob-tp3nx I'm pretty sure it does. You need an input, output, and an effects loop. I've seen many comments saying they do plan on doing 4CM with their Boss Katana amps.

i had the me80 before i got into pedals and making my own board, this thing rocks!!

Got the Me80 but like that drop down option might have to buy this
I was going to buy ME-80 couple months back, but decide to do that later in autumn when i have more time to play. Lucky me!

Over the hills and far away the best review I've seen of the MEH-90 no JK the MElikey-90! 🤘
Excellent review. I hope they release a bass version of this sometime soon.
Use it on bass. If they can use it on 7 or 8 string guitars, it's probably good for an electric bass.
Nice playing as always
That's a great looking and sounding Strat!
I know if anyone can convince me that I should get this product it'd be Dagan!
Great demo, Great company ❤️
still have and still use my beloved ME6 would never sell it..... awesomenesss :)
Another great demo sir , I have got to get that pedal board
The X-High Gain and the X-Modded sound like a real Marshall here.
great demo Dagan... brilliant
hey PMT give this guy an exclusive Gig DAGAN WICK SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😛😜🤪😝🤓❤🤘
Returned my me 90 today, deleted all my channels i worked hours on a couple times, will stick with my me 80
Received mine today from PMT.....bloody awesome!

Is this going direct or through an external amp/cab?
Hello !
Is it better to connect the gt directly to the ME90 or to the amp's effects loop?
Love that Fender guitar❤
Fine, BOSS. You win! *throws credit card at screen* 😏
Boss needs to thinker this new ME90 processor into the newer version of Katana or replace some of the tones on the Dual Cube LX... Great review Dagan, as always!
I didn't realise it had a detune, that makes it perfect... but how does the headphone out sound?? Nobody ever covers it on these sorts of demos!
Dagan for PM!
really the Boss
Im getting amazing tone with mine and I love the UNIVIBE!!!!!!!!!!!

Cracking looking strat that is 🎸
daganius maximus graces us with his presence
The "Pure Imagination" - Inspired by Buckethead? - Love this pedal!
Is there enough here to upgrade from the ME80 ?
I was not expecting that Willy Wonka song at 12:30 😂
Maybe I should go back to playing again.
Pedaleira espetacular!!!
I started on an me-70 borrowed from my grandad
The price is incredible!!!! Only $50 more that the Me80 I’m sooooo glad I don’t buy the Me80 today and I’m waiting for this.
Don’t buy the 80 it’s garbage buy this
@@27pugslyI had the 80 a while back. It was ok, but I didn’t love it. What makes the 90 so much better?

Awesome tone,s quality I really like Boss me 🎼🎵🎶🎸🎧
This multi effect is kool, 😊 I think should connect to boss katana 50 mk2 please, atm I am only hear through my ear phones please
if you use a shimmer with the feedbacker then its like a synth with a sustain pedal.. woahhhhh. tht would be quite handly.
Is there a boost ? So I can have my distortion going and then boost for a solo? Manually
Great video ! What kind of Fender Strat model is this ? : Fender Custom Shop
Stratocaster American Custom ???
I Love 316! 20:49
I wonder if putting tube booster pedal in the effects loop & switch it on all the time can instantly make this me90 has tube feel response & dynamics
I was thinking of getting this and chucking in my ToneX in the loop for the amps/gains etc. Could be a winner
Can the Detuner do momentary as well as latching?
No, but you could use the S-Bend with ultra fast rise & fall settings to get the same effect.
