Before removing the hard drive or the flex cable, it's more safe to first disconnect the battery connector gently, then push and hold the powerbutton for 30 - 45 seconds, so all power is off the logicboard.
Nice video but wouldn't it be much easier to just replace the internal hard drive cable? This just happened on my MacBook Pro and I'm waiting for a replacement cable now for $12
I got my cable swapped out and the hard drive started working fine again so it's definitely an easier way to fix this issue! Still have to appreciate the time put into making this video but for future reference there's a cleaner way to do this repair and keep the portability of your laptop. 👍
I suppose this is a way to test the cable because if it boots up then most likely it's the cable, which it almost always is as the cables they provide, just like the crap power cords Apple provides, tend to go out. I've replaced the HDD cable twice now.

If you're pretty handy with electronics it should take under an hour just be gentle and pay attention to how the original was installed because you will have to put it in the exact same position to fit properly.
Stabmaster Arson maybe but it seems like they're saying to just walk around with an external drive as your main drive which kind of defeats the purpose of having a laptop. Plus buying an external enclosure and everything isn't practical when you can use the money to buy a replacement HDD cable I'm not sure what the point of this video is 🤔
hi, I erased my MacBook pro and it has been showing the question mac icon. I have tried the cmd+r and power button, also the option button. but after connecting to a wireless network, it just shows me the rolling atlas and the network name. What do i do next

IZUNDU Somto me too, it says choose network, so I do it but then nothing happens. It’s frustrating
I did the same but mine got frozen while reinstalling macOS and now has those icons. You just need to click on the map icon.

Ronnie Stringer external hard drive enclosure. You can also just use a SATA to USB cable!
