QOTD: ⚡ Is there really the much of a difference between the band style wallet out there to say one is better than them all? Or does it truly come down to personal preference and feature needs?
Thanks for another good comparison review. It seems to be preference of features. From these 2, if I were pushed to choose it would be the Aviator. I'd add the felt to the coin space & use it for keys, such as home, mailbox, office. For extracting cards, did you try pushing out the opposite side from what you demonstrated? The indentation seems like a good push point, and I'm curious if that would alleviate the concern you expressed regarding accidentally opening the coin holder.

So i ordered both... Got the Ridge wallet about a week sooner... Used it for a week... Then the aviator arrived... I tried it out for a couple days, wanted to give it a fair shake... But I am returning the Aviator.. I really fell in love with the ridge. The aviator isn't bad, and if i never had used the Ridge I probably would have been fine with it... But I just feel like the Ridge is a lot easier to handle... I think it's easier to sort through the cards, easier to put the cards in and take them out... Sliding all the cards out is pretty easy on the aviator, but choosing one individual card is not as easy as with the Ridge.... One aspect of these wallets, might be a plus or a minus to you, but the Aviator does have a tighter grip on bills. Now I found the Ridge at first to seem a little loose for cash, but after using for a week, and having it in my pocket, the cash never came loose or fell out... So I was thinking i wished the money strap was tighter, until i received the aviator wallet... The aviator money strap/clip combo is very tight... But almost too tight... It is more difficult to get your bills in and out... It even bends up the corners of the folded bills when trying to slide them in... So what i thought was going to be a plus, for me was more of an inconvenience in every day use. I think the ridge although seeming a little loose at first, gives just the right amount of grip to the bills that they will not fall out even moving around in your pocket a lot, but it does this while also making putting the bills in and taking them out extremely smooth and convenient.. I also thought i was going to like the Aviator for the Change slot... but this just gives the wallet unnecessary thickness in my opinion... i can do without it. The ridge just seems to be a little more together... The front and back metal don't move around as much.. For the aviator the cards also get stuck a bit on the elastic when sliding cards in... Overall the ridge is just better in every way in my personal opinion. Cards getting stuck when sliding them in is just not an issue with the ridges horizontal build. Now maybe what I prefer is not what other people prefer, Maybe the aviator is the better wallet, I just think the ridge checks off all my personal preferences to a tee. I do think the money strap could be just a bit tighter, but like I said the bills haven't come out, and with the Aviator i'm really bending up the money trying to shove it in. It just takes a lot more concentrated effort to pry the money clip open enough to slide the money in... If you are someone who rarely uses cash at all, and want it to be as secure as possible, maybe the aviator is for you ... Or maybe the money clip version of the ridge is better... I just think the most important thing for me was how it feels actually taking out my cards and putting them back in, and being able to navigate through them all without removing them from the wallet... and that feel and convenience, as well at the more sturdy wallet definitely goes to the Ridge. The aviator often times feels off line, like you have to re-stack a deck of cards after you shuffle them.. However the Ridge always feels like a perfectly stacked deck of cards.
The coin tray also seems like a great idea to hold your change. Whenever I’m at the register checking out, I get a bunch of loose change and I awkwardly cram it in my pockets, but if I could simply just toss it back in my wallet, then that would be super convenient.
You have that backwards. "Awkwardly cram it into my pockets"? You have change in your hand, you put your hand in your pocket, you open your hand and boom, the change is in your pocket. "Simply toss it back into my wallet"? That tray requires you to place them all in flat in order to close the thing....that seems way more likely to fumble around with and not practical at all. Most people would never use it for change, I could maybe see storage for a key but that's what a keychain is for.
Thanks for making the video. I always see advertising for the Ridge. After seeing your review, I purchased the AVIATOR. It also comes with a lifetime warranty. While pricey...if it last me a lifetime, I am happy! Plus, they have some neat designs.
I have been going from review to review and each felt like it was missing some information or some things weren’t talked about. THIS video is exactly what I need!! Phenomenal job
Great comparison mark, thank you for emphasising coins still used heavily outside the u.s... here in the Philippines wee still use them on our public transportation , The aviator looks good but it looks flimsy putting cards in and out 🤔 btw the aviator cost more if you want the cash plate like the ridge last time i looked, and its silly how much they charge for it. The good thing about the ridge what you see is what you get, no add ons etc.. thats why i didi not purcahse an aviator because its more expensive.. and how they can trick you in spending more if you want diff finishes or materials for the wallet. Which i dontlike and did not bother anymore. Thanks agaid for the comparison
I've had a titanium Ridge for three years, still as good as new, very simple to use, very stylish. The object of a card wallet is to carry cards, not coins and the Ridge is the more tactile and good looking. For me worth the extra £s.
@@HamishCarpenter It is easy. You push out slightly then give a little pinch on the corner. Once you pinch you can fan the cards easily. Also you put your most used cards in the very front and very back so they are easy to get to.
Bought both wallets. Ridge also has coin tray now. If you want to put cash in the trays you need to fold the bills into quarters. I like the Ridge better. The cards don’t wiggle as much in the Ridge. Also both metal plates in the Ridge have a plastic backing whereas the Aviator has one plate with no plastic backing.
Try an Exentri trifold wallet, the bills are a lot more secure. It has a card slide feature similar to the Aviator on the outer card slots, which is perfect for payment cards. Less used cards stay secure in the inner slots.
Watch the video on their new "Slide" model, it has a new pull head on the strap since this video, but it's excellent! ua-cam.com/video/5zWL8mwRqB4/v-deo.html
Love the video. These 2 wallets are the big players and perfect for going head to head. Have you considered doing a 3-way EDC test with Ridge, Aviator and the PocketPro wallet? It'd be interesting to see the result.
I’m very happy with the Ridge and based on this review, I still believe I made the right choice. The design is far more sleek and stylish and the Aviator’s coin tray seems rather gimmicky and impractical, especially on account of the low volume it can hold. I mean, c’mon, the change is going to go straight to your pocket, nobody will fumble with that silly coin tray.
The coin tray is absolutely essential for me personally, justfor my key. I dont drive at the moment so I don't have a car key ring. So I keep my house key in my wallet
As a canadian we have coins in 1 and 2 dollars. I put the coins in my pocket when i have them. I own two ridge 1 aluminium and 1 with carbon fiber. From what i saw in this video ill stick with the Ridge.
Agreed. I have been using a Ridge wallet for 3 or 4 years and it is a great wallet. I will never go back to a traditional leather wallet. And he messed up with the removal of the cards, they can be "fanned" from the bottom and a card selected without taking all the cards out to get the one you are looking for. I carry about 7 cards in mine and have the strap (for receipts) and the clip for cash. As for coins (fellow Canuck here) I generally do not have them around and when I do I use a small leather coin pouch that lives in the console of my car.
@@Blake953 Agreed. I've been using an American tourister leather coin pouch. I got the carbon fiber ridge with the cash strap for sleekness. Mainly use it for receipts, cards, etc. When you say you've got both do you mean they're on the wallet at the same time, like on either side?
I am questioning if embossed cards can be used ? I’ve heard many people complaining about damaged cards over time and not being able to slide them in and out easily ! Can anyone help me .thanks
Great review. I like the Aviator better, but both are "no's" for me. I don't want to push out all of my cards each time I want one card. The coin tray is a no, also. I carry coins loose in my pocket. If I wanted to put them in something, I would carry one of those rubber squeeze thingies, where there is no rattle noise. I also don't like my cash bills flapping in the breeze that much.
Not really sure why I'm here. Bought a nice red Brooks Brothers billfold 7 years ago and it's still working well for me. Would like some more protection but, but like the look of my brooks brothers.
If a person feels like they need more than 12 Credit cards well then they’ve got a problem. I personally only carry two credit cards with me And some cash from time to time! To me, That’s the whole purpose of this wallet is to minimize the bulk in your back pocket or your front pocket if that’s what you choose! Great video my friend I like the continent
I bought one a few weeks ago. I like it. However, I'm still fumbling around with it at the checkout line of a store while I try to get at the particular card I'm trying to use. It sure beats the gigantic leather wallet I used to carry around. I have a bad back, and having that thing in my back pocket is exactly as you said - it makes you sit at an angle. I can carry the Ridge around in a front pocket and forget it is there.
The Ridge wallet does have an optional coin try like the Aviator. I actually use the coin try for putting money in instead of having being on the outside. Thank you for the comparison review.
Yes! They came out with the tray after this review was done. I'm going to be doing a followup between these two wallets again within the next month or so.
Aviator for the win, coins are not the main difference for me but how you get cards out, the ridge has always been annoying with the pinching of the bottom to fan out, i prefer at least for me to push out with the thumb opening on the aviator, far faster and less complicated for me. If i have to make concessions for the way it handles cards, then for me it voids the reason to get a card wallet and i would just go with a thin minimalist leather option.
If I had to choose, I'd go with the aviator. The card access is better, the money band seems easier and I like the tray because I do like to keep 4 pennies on me.
I’d like to see wallet testers use actual embossed cards, both these wallets are harder to use in person because the embossing catches and the gauge your magnetic strips. Sent them both back, hanging on to my grandpa leather bifold.
I have been using this style of wallets for over 10 years. I have been buying them in Austria and Germany. They keep breaking because the frame is too light and its forged aluminum. The Ridge is heavier duty and designed not to break Only criticism it would be nice for first card to be displayed and move the money clip or strap to back.
I did know that the Ridge (push the notch on the side) like style has been around for 10 years. I thought Ridge was the first to come out with it in 2013. Good to know.
OH. MY. GOSH. A 10-minute video on aluminum wallets! That's insane. That guy never cracked a smile. Straight face the whole time! $65 for a "wallet"! CRAZY.
I’ve used the Ridge Wallet for over a year and love it. Still looks new and is really easy to use. Just have to break the habit of using a traditional wallet and even that occurred within a week.
Yes, I've discovered that sandwich style wallets like these are either don't like 'em or love 'em type thing with people. There isn't much of an in-between.
Ridge will work much better for what I need it for, I have 3 cards I use and never carry coins, rarely carry notes. My ID/access stuff for work is on my keychain so I'm just carrying around a bulky leather wallet for 3 cards. It's definitely time to downsize. Thanks for your review, now I know what I'm in for.
What you just expressed is what I hope all wallet owners do...take an honest inventory of what they really need to carry, decide how they carry and then stick to the plan, making minor adjustments as they go!
Ridge all the way. Being Canadian and using coins I can tell you it can’t that big of a deal to hold four coins in your wallet or having a handful of change in your pocket. I’m just buying a new ridge now cuz I want a different colour lol my other has been holding up for 8 years nothing ever wrong. Great video. Never used the aviator but to me the coin tray can’t sway me that way plus ridge sells the tray now anyways.
Aviator: I have a pull out lanyard Ridge: push at the bottom Aviator: once pulled out you can fan the cards. Ridge: you can kinda do that. Aviator: I can hold up to 20 cards Ridge: oh umm... 12 and gets a little tight Aviator: oh we’re can adjust retention Ridge: we... can’t. Aviator: we have a built in coin tray that’s optional. Ridge: umm... the coin tray has to go in with the cards and takes lots of space.
6:25 "I'm sure a lot of people are wondering: well Hank, who needs to carry coins?" No, I see these wallets and I wonder where you're supposed to put the coins you will inevitably have.
Very reasonable and you would think an obvious question! I believe many people take coins, put them in their pocket long enough to dump them in their coin jar at home. But for those outside the US, coins are required every day.
the ridge is great for me. feels better in the hands and i dont really need a coin tray. who carries change now a days lol. anyway , the aviator has no backstop which makes it risky. but my pick will be the ridge.
You can equip a Ridge with a strap or a clip or both. I don’t even use the plate on my ridge. With these it becomes muscle memory as to how you access your cards. I’ve tried the top loading styles and I just couldn’t get access to my cards as easy as the Ridge. The coin tray should be made to hold keys.
I don’t like to have coins in my wallet and I don’t put cash outside in the strap either, so I put few cash inside of coin tray instead. My Aviator wallet looks nicer and cleaner. Awesome wallet!
I’m torn. I don’t want to have a coin tray necessarily but I still need a coin once a week to grab a shopping cart at the supermarket. Is it possible to just put 1 coin inside the card holder without it falling out? What do tou think? :)
If you’re dealing with a soft surface like a band, like the TROVE wallet you can get away with it. But with a hard surface, there’s a good chance it will work it’s way out.
How does ridge feel in the pocket though? As a back pocket for user the idea of sitting on a metal case with a stack of plastic in it doesn't sound nice
You say that you can use the aviator coin tray in the ridge wallet but how would that work? Wouldnt the elastic bands stop the coin tray from coming out?
Solid review. Like both, but the coin tray seems a bit of a PIA with noise and thought of them falling out if you don’t get the cards right. Also, 20 cards? Kind of kills the minimalist concept. I can’t think of carrying that many cards… for that thickness, might as well go back to leather and go see a shrink about your hoarding issues.
I think you forgot about RFID protection in the feature category because it doesn't look like the Aviator has it, while the Ridge does. Just an observation. I don't need a coin holder, even when I travel internationally so I prefer the Ridge & have been very happy with my carbon fiber model.
I didn’t mention it because it’s merely a marketing ploy. RFID protection is not needed anymore and questionably was ever needed. ua-cam.com/video/QL2HEgOFQxc/v-deo.html. Regardless, I really like the look and feel of the Ridge Carbon Fiber, I would say the best looking of their offering.
The face no, unless you pull it out all the time like a credit card, but even then I would say not really. The interior surface is very smooth, so the friction required for a quick rub-off isn't there.
One thing I have noticed on all these wallet comparison channels, is that none of them use cards with number indentations on them, but in real life, we would. Do the indentations A) take up more space, and B) cause harm by scratching the adjacent cards magnetic strips?
Box wallets, for example, are impacted as the embossed cards are taller. These companies usually have a chart on their site that shows how many cards you can get in. By way of rubbing, if the cards are all oriented the same way, no as the embossing is on the bottom and the strip is at the top of the back of the card.
While I'd still need to find some place to keep my car registration and the coin slot seems a bit small to be ready for everything (within reason) you might get as change, the Aviator actually seems like something I'd call a wallet and not just a card holder.
Is there a benefit to this over a rubber band over your cards? How is this different than carrying two extra cards and a rubber band? And it seems to me that a wallet that comes with a screwdriver is mainly for men who are embarrassed they don't know what a carburetor is.
Question to Aviator owners. If you put your regular use cash card at the top of the stack, will it scan at a checkout thought the rectangular opening without having to remove it?
I got The Ridge Damascus (laser etched) and absolutely love it. It takes some time to break in and get used to but it has become so easy since first getting it. I recently ordered the Aviator Slide in obsidian black with the aluminum frame and coin tray. Looking forward to its arrival. I have had my eye on the Titan One Slide model but simply cannot justify the cost, given its extremely good quality of grade 1 titanium, it seems a bit high unless you are constantly spending and pulling the wallet out. May get it in the future but waiting for the price to go down quite a bit and titanium costs level out. Thanks for the great review! NOTE: Don’t wear tight jeans or pants with metal card wallets like these.
I think a better solution would be a way to isolate the cards. Have one as a "primary" and the rest bundled together. If I'm at a point of sale making a purchase, I don't need my drivers license and LTC card popping out every time. Like the Grip 6 model where you push a lever and ALL cards come sliding out. 80% of the time, I'm using ONE card and it would nice to have it "separated" from the rest.
Yes, that’s the “quick access card slot” I mention and really like with wallets. I will use one card 90% of the time so quick access to it without needing to pull the stack out is preferred.
Aviator..The concept is great, but that's about it. I ordered one , paid close to 100 euros. I pinched the tip of my fingers to insert my card, AND BENDED THE PLATES!!! I couldn't believe it, sooo thin and so cheap!! I send this back after 5 minutes.
I use the aviator completely differently. I use the cutout on the side to push out the entire stack of cards with my thumb and then fan them out to pick the right one. The way you do it seems very cumbersome and slow.
Over $105+ for the Ridge!? It's gone up over $40+ in a few years when I remember it at a store for $65. Ridiculous. Even at $60+ it was expansive. Both say they are Blocks RFID (wireless theft) but I would bet Ridge would be a better performer on that note. I have a ebay one that is a knock off and I could replace it many times and not reach that $100 mark. I've had it for over 4 years and it's still good AND has RFID (wireless theft) as well. Supposedly. Just my feedback. If money was not an issue maybe I'd get the ridge. I appreciate your comparison though. Thank you.
I have my only card in my phone case. Otherwise I just use mobile payment and most other auxilliary cards such as loyalty points and discounts are now connected to my card or bank account - even the driver's license and student ID have been digitalized. Not sure why you need an expensive wallet like this because in our lifetime cards and cash will disappear entirely making the lifetime warranty a moot point. But I have nothing against the review or reviewer if you think my post is aimed toward the channel - these videos are excellent!
Interesting where do you live? I am in Quebec, french part of Canada. And we are retard technology wise (we are far from digital driver's license and student id ... but we have a digital vaccination pass :) )
@@walletopia Thanks for the reply. I think I may have been comparing to the Aviator slide. Regarding the coin holder, do you know if the Aviator coin holder can hold a UK pound coin, which is a bit thicker?
Hmmm, good question. The Slide has a deeper coin tray for coins like the Pound coin, but it’s also tailored to the Slide which isn’t a full tray, it tapers a bit to accommodate the pull strap. I would suggest dropping them a line if the regular Aviator coin tray can accommodate the Pound coin. I need to get one for testing purposes.
Very good review. You opened my eyes to the Aviator wallet which is very nice. I most likely will buy one because I like variety. Another brilliant review, best chanel on utube for wallet reviews...... Brilliant work man, keep it up 👍
Thanks for making the video. I always see advertising for the Ridge. After seeing your review, I purchased the AVIATOR. It also comes with a lifetime warranty. While pricey...if it last me a lifetime, I am happy! Plus, they have some neat designs.
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for showing how the cards feature works! So many guys bumble, stumbles or just flat out avoids talking about how it works. Thank you
I have been going from review to review and each felt like it was missing some information or some things weren’t talked about. THIS video is exactly what I need!! Phenomenal job
Glad it was helpful!
Great comparison mark, thank you for emphasising coins still used heavily outside the u.s... here in the Philippines wee still use them on our public transportation ,
The aviator looks good but it looks flimsy putting cards in and out 🤔 btw the aviator cost more if you want the cash plate like the ridge last time i looked, and its silly how much they charge for it.
Is it easy to access the cards inside? Thank you
@@HamishCarpenter easy once you get used to it..
The aviator slide shits on ridge lol
@@HamishCarpenter It is easy. You push out slightly then give a little pinch on the corner. Once you pinch you can fan the cards easily. Also you put your most used cards in the very front and very back so they are easy to get to.
@@keithgreen5177 I think as far as design Ridge is better looking but I think Aviator is easier to use.
Out of these two wallets I would go with the Ridge. Well made video!
Thanks!
Great info, thanks!
Honestly I’d prefer that money is harder to remove, makes me feel a bit more secure w/ my bills
Try an Exentri trifold wallet, the bills are a lot more secure. It has a card slide feature similar to the Aviator on the outer card slots, which is perfect for payment cards. Less used cards stay secure in the inner slots.
I have the Aviator Titan One #275, and love it. Couldn't ask for anything better!
Nice! It's a fun and functional wallet.
Good lord what a helpful channel 👍🏻...leaning heavily towards the aviator now!!!
Watch the video on their new "Slide" model, it has a new pull head on the strap since this video, but it's excellent! ua-cam.com/video/5zWL8mwRqB4/v-deo.html
Coming from Jimmy Tries World as he recommended you. Great video Walletopia.
Thanks and welcome! Jimmy was very kind
How do you only have 26k subs?? This video is so high quality
Thanks! Share it out!
Love the video. These 2 wallets are the big players and perfect for going head to head. Have you considered doing a 3-way EDC test with Ridge, Aviator and the PocketPro wallet? It'd be interesting to see the result.
We have the PocketPro in our inventory for review, we'll do that soon.
13k subs for a wallet channel says a lot about your integrity and reputation. Thanks for balanced take :)
Thanks!
What the fuck is a coin?
You could put other stuff in there like an SD card, a flat pen or even a thin blade. But yes, for coins maybe not so much.
Ridge has a coin tray that you can slide in
I think I will put 2-3 tablet for migraine sold in a tinfoil like individual package, plus 1-2 elastic bands for my hair
@@kevinkarnes4067 yes
@mikeisu You just wasted your money well done
I am questioning if embossed cards can be used ? I’ve heard many people complaining about damaged cards over time and not being able to slide them in and out easily ! Can anyone help me .thanks
The Aviator is almost perfect for me but I can't justify a wallet of this type not having a back stop. Bummer.
They have a new one that does now
This is outdated. You should go check out the newer aviator.
I did review on it in January 2020, ua-cam.com/video/5zWL8mwRqB4/v-deo.html
I would say the Aviator Slide alleviates all the perceived problems quite nicely..
I also like this gentleman who does a good wallet review!
Your reasons are a common complaint why someone would not choose a "sandwich" band type wallet. There are certainly drawbacks to this design.
Not really sure why I'm here. Bought a nice red Brooks Brothers billfold 7 years ago and it's still working well for me. Would like some more protection but, but like the look of my brooks brothers.
It's always fun to window shop 😀
Thanks for sharing! Front pocket carry is the only way to go, if anything for our health!
Nice review! I like the Aviator because of the coin tray, except I would put guitar picks instead of coins in there.
Thanks. The ridge won me once you said the other one carry’s coins. The only coin I want is Bit and doge 🚀
Thanks for the video! Thought the designs were lame. Will definately stick my awesome leather wallet.❤
I agree the thumb slot wins, and it isnt even close.
Aviator >>> ridge
If I had to choose, I'd go with the aviator. The card access is better, the money band seems easier and I like the tray because I do like to keep 4 pennies on me.
So, why 4 pennies, that's an interesting comment :)
I’d like to see wallet testers use actual embossed cards, both these wallets are harder to use in person because the embossing catches and the gauge your magnetic strips. Sent them both back, hanging on to my grandpa leather bifold.
Gouge not gauge lol
Have had the Aviator wallet for 2 years. To stop the change from sliding around I keep a bill in there.
I have a forged carbon and regular carbon fiber Ridge wallets. So much more comfortable than my old leather wallet.
I really like the forged carbon look, very sleek but muted.
Do you put them in your back pocket
Thanks to Jimmy Trusts, looks like this channel went from 9k to 24k subs almost overnight. I’m happy to be one of those additions.
Welcome aboard!
wouldn't the hole in the aviator's hole make it not rfid blocking?
the little gap on one side of the aviator would make sense to use as a way to push the cards out easier then fan them out
I have an iClip wallet. Advantage is that the cash is enclosed. Half the price of Ridge or Aviator
CRAZY.
😂
I never thought I needed a wallet review but this was high quality content. Sub from me.
Thanks!
I bought the Ridge ! I like it🦅🇺🇸
Nice!!
Can I use embossed card ?I’ve heard that cards are not easy to insert them in and out and that they can be damaged over time by doing so .thanks
Aviator: I have a pull out lanyard
Ridge: push at the bottom
Aviator: once pulled out you can fan the cards.
Ridge: you can kinda do that.
Aviator: I can hold up to 20 cards
Ridge: oh umm... 12 and gets a little tight
Aviator: oh we’re can adjust retention
Ridge: we... can’t.
Aviator: we have a built in coin tray that’s optional.
Ridge: umm... the coin tray has to go in with the cards and takes lots of space.
I had a rossom witch is very similar to a ridge wallet and now I just got the avaiator slide wallet and it's much more practical.
Great reviews. Awesome watch collection you have as well.
6:25 "I'm sure a lot of people are wondering: well Hank, who needs to carry coins?"
No, I see these wallets and I wonder where you're supposed to put the coins you will inevitably have.
Very reasonable and you would think an obvious question! I believe many people take coins, put them in their pocket long enough to dump them in their coin jar at home. But for those outside the US, coins are required every day.
If you're putting coins in your wallet, you need a purse
Jimmy Tries World recommended you. Glad to find an someone who will have an expert opinion so as to find a replacement for my Horse Leather Wallet.
Welcome!
the ridge is great for me. feels better in the hands and i dont really need a coin tray. who carries change now a days lol. anyway , the aviator has no backstop which makes it risky. but my pick will be the ridge.
Best part is it fits your needs and work as expected!
Thanks for sharing! Yes, the coin tray could be used for keys or any other item that doesn't fit the sandwich model very well.
Wondering why did you not use the plate? Is it because of its thickness or it help usability?
I don’t like to have coins in my wallet and I don’t put cash outside in the strap either, so I put few cash inside of coin tray instead. My Aviator wallet looks nicer and cleaner. Awesome wallet!
Thanks for sharing!
I bought aviators coin tray for my ridge wallet I love it
Excellent!
I've always wondered: After you are doing your carry tests, what is your goto wallet that you keep going back to ?
Thanks for the great comparison
Thanks!
How does ridge feel in the pocket though? As a back pocket for user the idea of sitting on a metal case with a stack of plastic in it doesn't sound nice
Neither of these are good back pocket wallets due to the rigidity.
You say that you can use the aviator coin tray in the ridge wallet but how would that work? Wouldnt the elastic bands stop the coin tray from coming out?
No it works great. You slide the tray on the same side as cards. The backstop elastic will keep the tray in place the same way it does with cards.
The ridge is also made to stop people from hacking your cards. Thats why they didnt include the thumb slip.
The protection comes from the materials….a side benefit.
Why not put cash in the co8n tray
I’m not keen on the money straps
On the aviator, you can on their first version, with their most recent one, the coin tray tappers in the middle so cash wouldn't do well.
Does the ridge wallet wear away the face of drivers licenses? Lots of stores here have to scan the card for alcohol purchases
No mention on RFID blocking by the Aviator. Any details you can share?
I watched Jimmy before this, I didn't searched for this but it showed up in my recommendations.
The UA-cam algorithm at work!
Is there a benefit to this over a rubber band over your cards? How is this different than carrying two extra cards and a rubber band? And it seems to me that a wallet that comes with a screwdriver is mainly for men who are embarrassed they don't know what a carburetor is.
😂
Great insights Andrew, thank you. The Damascus version is stunning in the look and feel.
For this type of wallet I do prefer the Hell bent 3.0 wallet. Great comparison test👍🏼
Love my Ridge wallet
I still have my Secrid wallet, allows me to store cash and pulls cards out in a way that i can see which card is which.
are the cards in the Aviator prone to extrude or fall out, as there is no stop on the other end?
The Ridge Wallet does have a coin tray, you just have to order it separately, I use it to store extra keys.
Yes, when this review was done they didn’t have one yet.
Very cool wallets but 'i'm just not understanding two things. Where do you put/hide the condoms ? and where do you put the coins ?
Priorities, priorities....
Excellent review. Thank you!
Thanks Jane!
Aviator..The concept is great, but that's about it. I ordered one , paid close to 100 euros. I pinched the tip of my fingers to insert my card, AND BENDED THE PLATES!!! I couldn't believe it, sooo thin and so cheap!! I send this back after 5 minutes.
Wow, very surprising!
i just ordered my aviator wallet, it just seems a lot more practical than the ridge.
Thumb slot is awesome
Aviator works much better. I'll give Ridge the design area but thats pretty much it.
I wonder if you can use the coin tray to store your cash (banknotes) instead of the coins? I don't trust money clips or straps as much.
With the original Aviator, yes, folded twice, but the new Slide tapers in the middle so it's a no go.
@walletopia how many bills will fit in the standard coin tray?
I use the aviator completely differently. I use the cutout on the side to push out the entire stack of cards with my thumb and then fan them out to pick the right one. The way you do it seems very cumbersome and slow.
Another great way to do it. I've seen at least 4 ways to do it. I like the flexibility of this wallet.
Thank you.
great review you have me thinking about the Aviator now.
The Aviator isn't RFID blocking unless you get the coin holder right? And that adds cost v the ridge.
The coin holder comes with the wallet, it's a significant feature of it, but it's the aluminum pieces that provide the protection.
Functionally speaking, why not just put a rubber band around your cards and save $70? You can "fan out" your cards the same way with a rubber band.
because then you are not cool
@@GRTakerTh facts
Because if you do any kind of physical labor for a living your cards will get rekt
Very good review. You opened my eyes to the Aviator wallet which is very nice. I most likely will buy one because I like variety. One thing you left out of your review is that the Ridge has aninterchangeable money money clip. It comes with the strap or traditional money clip. I bought the money clip as an add on.
Hi Daryl, yes, thank you for bringing that up, the flexibility of the Ridge does provide for interchangeable money clip or strap.
Are you selling some of your wallets or keep them all?
