@JS2BF The price doesn't reflect quality. You can pay 1/4 of the price buying Chinese stuff that will be at the very least, just as good if not better and the key case won't break like the Ridge does.

I have used a knock-off ridge wallet for a couple years now and came to many of the same conclusions about the form factor that you state. One thing you did not mention is: a small sticky note stuck to the inside of one of the plates will stay in place and persist for a long time, even with one of my two most commonly used cards sliding past it often. I use one in mine to keep a hard copy of a password, but any kind of info like hotel room number or parking space I can carry "in my wallet". I don't have the coin case but I think I want one now. 😂

As a new wallet manufacturer, we are currently in the market research phase and would like to conduct interviews with individuals who have previously purchased Ridge Wallets. The interview format is still being determined, but it will involve asking you some simple questions about why you chose to purchase Ridge Wallets. If you are, please let us know, and we can discuss the details of the remuneration. Thank you very much!
If the elastic breaks that’s not normal wear and tear. Normal wear and tear is like cracks from dropping or faded color or stretched out elastic. Lifetime warranty obviously covers a broken elastic strap.
No it does not. The elastic is on 3 of the 4 sides. The side without the elastic is the side the card goes in and out of. Also check out Aviator wallet too. If you aren't stuck on the many cool options of cover plates from Ridge then Aviator has a good Ridge alternative wallet. It actually has a better pull strap method for card access and better coin tray. Check out our comparison review on the channel, if you haven't already.
I got my wallet in the original Kickstarter and have been using it for about 9 years now. The elastic started losing elasticity about 2 years ago and I had to carry around a bunch of extra cards just so everything wouldn't fall out! Finally going to bite the bullet and buy the $10 replacement elastic.
As a fellow Canadian, who recently changed to one of these, Canadian money DOES NOT like being folded. For you Americans, Canadian money is plastic, not paper. More than once pulling bills out and attempting to pull out a bill or two resulted in an explosion of cash that I have a hard time explaining. Now that I've gone through that a few times I've kinda changed how I handle it but it requires a little more delicacy.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you tend to carry a lot of cash with you? I find that Canadian bills can be folded good but it needs to be creased. Once it's creased, it will hold. You will have to do this on one or two bills at a time, though.
Ah I see. I still don't like flashing all my bills when I have to pay with cash. I guess that's what we have to put up with on these minimalist wallets.
used my ridge titanium for about 5 years now. It was a gift, and the price is surely high, but I still love it and use it as my only wallet since then. It is scratched but still looks cool and works perfectly fine, even the elastic didnt get loose. the quality is there and I doubt the cheaper options would last that well that long. I really appreciated the customer service as well. at the time my wife had an issue with the delivery and they just shipped a new one, no questions asked, just to get it on time for my birthday. Since then I gifted another titaniun wallet to my dad, and now we just upgraded both with the airtag clips, and 2x ridge keychains. as you said, the only issue is when I travel to countries where the notes are worth little and you need to carry a lot of them. I usually have 50 to 100 euro in my ridge without issue, but if I want to have the same value when in Turkey or India that would be so many notes that is impossibile to fit them under the clip.
I’ve had a ridge wallet for 5 years now. I recently bought a new one because I wanted a different Color. The original one I have still holds strong in the elastics department. The cash strap is scuffed but other than that, you can’t tell my wallet is that old and has been riding in pockets full of other stuff 👍 I love ridge wallets, the only downside is really the price.
Agreed. They are made really well and the unique and vast selection of cover plates are nice to personalize your wallet. I do wish they just sold cover plates individually to so that if you just want to change the color or design it is less expensive to, instead of buying a whole new wallet. Recently, I have been using the Aviator wallet and that is my go to at the moment. I like the pull strap for faster easier access to the cards and the thumb slot is another area that allows me to further customize the wallet as a DIY. Thanks for the comment. Agreed that this is a very expensive wallet. Definitely wait for the sales that could be as much as 40%. I'm surprised by how difficult to use these wallets are. I have a much cheaper iClip wallet that simply has a window that lets me thumb through my cards until I get to the one I need. That simple feature blows the Ridge out of the water completely.

It does seem like a lot of people buy a slim wallet ridge wallet leather wallet whatever - but then seen to wind up filling it up pretty overfilled anyway. I’ve never been a massive believer in sort of a “1 item for everything” type of product. People seem to want their 1 thing to do everything. I shave my head bald and trim my beard at various lengths - to do that I’d say I use probably 5/6 different stylers (head shaver beard trimmer razor etc) I could use 1/2 things if I am travelling but if I’m at home I use different things for different tasks. People seem to buy a slim wallet and start off by putting their licence/1 or 2 credit/debit cards/university id/healthcare card etc 3-5 cards….. then ad another….. and another. I’d say 7 cards plus a coin tray plus coins plus 10+ bills is just too much for a slim wallet. I carry 5 cards max (usually 4) and no more than 2 bills. Generally a larger bill and something smaller. I have a slim leather card holder very slim and small which has another 5/6 cards and if I’m going to need 1 of those cards I’ll take that with me. It’s still much slimmer in my pocket with 2 extremely slim wallets than 1 fat wallet.
I have a rossom wallet that is a ridge knock off. Its good. The plates are rounded on the inside like the ridge, which is important. It came with a choice of strap or money clip. You have nailed the downsides. I live outside the US. I only use this wallet in the US, as I don't use much cash there. I have been using a knock off box wallet with a trigger the last 8 months. I like it a lot. Solves a lot of the ridge issues. It has an elastic pocket that sticks to the front. It is as easy to put cash or receipts in it as the ridge. $5 or so on temu. Also it is a vertical instead of horizontal wallet. That may also have some advantages when it comes to fanning the cards.
Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience. I've also tried the Aviator wallet and like that better than the Ridge. It is also vertical and does work much better.
The biggest disadvantage I see in this kind of wallets is that they scratch and deteriorate your cards if you pull them out very often. My transport card got my face's picture blurred.
Right. It is thicker because I added the Coin case. When you take what you normally have in the regular wallet and put it into the Ridge wallet and use it as it was designed then it should be smaller. The coin case is typically meant for coins and I usually keep my coins in my pockets so it doesn't make sense compare with the coin tray installed with coins in it. Since I prefer to store my cash in the coin tray instead of the strap, I guess it depends how you want to compare it. The coin case adds quite a bit to the thickness of the Ridge wallet. Also, don't forget how much smaller the Ridge wallet is length and width wise. I can now easily put the Ridge wallet in my front pocket instead of the back pocket. Much better for sitting posture, while providing better physical security for my wallet.
i´m going into the idea to keep organize and minimal, but for me i think it extremely mininal and the contry i live the drive´s licences it´s a little large than the a card, begining complicate to used than for me
i was considering this wallet as my old leather wallet is pretty old now. but i feel like buying a regular wallet is better for me. A lot of places in my country accept cash only so i keep cash on me and i keep my keys inside my wallet. the cash strap or clip doesn't seem secure enough. Personally i feel like this ridge wallet is over hyped.
These types of wallet definitely take getting used to. You really have to want to go minimalist and reduce what you put in your wallet. I still can't believe these have as much hype as they do. I have to admit that their offering of so many unique and quality cover plates to customize your wallet is a big draw. I really like their keycase though and am still using it. That is a good observation. It does look like the cards are scratching each other. Though it isn't a big issue for me, it may be for some. Has that been a big problem for you?
I don’t like how the cards come out in a clump, I have no fingernails so it is like my current leather wallet where I sometimes struggle to get the card I want.
Agreed. That is why I switched to the Aviator wallet. Because the cards come out vertically it can be fanned out easily just by pressing the bottom edge of the wallet together once you pull the pull tab out.
Thanks for commenting to let us know! Please like and share the video with anyone else that would be interested. We appreciate your help and support in growing our channel.
Good on you for buying things based only on your needs. People should always consider the quality, brand and price point before buying something. Everyone will have different needs and priorities.
I wouldn't say that the wallet itself directly ruins cards. The way it works by putting cards next to each other and pressing them together could cause them to scratch each other as you take the cards out and put them back in. That would also depend on the types of cards you have and what they are made of. Does that answer your question?
$265???? ARE YOU INSANE??? Made in USA, mayyyybe. But they're made in China and you're tellin me ya spent half a Chris Reeves Sabenza for a couple THIN stamps of Carbon fiber, some milled aluminum, a couple inches of elastic, AND T5 SCREWS!
Looks great but I’d be annoyed by it scratching my phone and the cards rubbing each…not bother about money and my keys and phone are metal so I don’t need another piece of metal in my pockets🥴
Agreed. There are many good slim wallets available nowadays and have very good features at an affordable price. They can even disperse the cards nicer too.
The one thing I do like about the Ridge wallet, though, is the assortment of high quality cover plates with exotic materials. Most of the other brands don't offer this.
Mine is getting on the chunky side. I have 6 plastic cards, the coin tray (size of 3 cards stacked), and other items. In the end, it really is how the owner uses it. Any other wallet that holds that many items will also start to get chunky. Though, I suppose f you get a similar style slim wallet without the fancy cover and metal plates underneath the cover plates, it could be less chunky. In the ends, in the true spirit of these types of wallets, you really have to reduce and bring less with you if you want to have a slimmer wallet.
If you actually used it for 5 months, you would know that it destroys the cards by rubbing them against each other. Also the coin tray is a design fail, a gimmick. Thr coins make noise when you walk and the cards get stuck inside the tray. i watched tens of reviews before buying it and no one said anything about these huge defects.i'm going back to Belroy.
I have the slimmest wallet. None. You said you can survive with fewer cards on you. The number you need is one or zero. At that point, why contain it. Just leave card you want to be reasonably close but don't actually use every day in your car. Your car is always with you or five minutes away. "How do I get my specific card out of this thing?" If you are smart it is just the one card. You are still carrying worthless crap with you.
Why is it that some people feel the need to force their opinions on others? You do realize that not everyone lives the life you do or has the same requirements or interests in life as you, right? This topic is not equivalent to a world level importance like hunger or war. It's not even about ethics, morals or life and death... it's a personal choice. So why the harsh criticism and comments as if you have the ultimate answer and there is no other way about it and everyone must have a life like yours? You only need one card. That's perfectly fine. You have your needs and you fullfilled it. Other people have different requirements and they fullfill those needs. No one is asking anyone that only needs one card to "contain it" in a wallet. Why are you watching a video about a slim wallet when you clearly don't need a wallet and seem to hate wallets? Not everyone has a car so to assume that those people could just leave it in their car is not possible. What you mentioned also doesn't make sense. You say you only need one card. It sounds like you are referring to a payment card of some sort since you mentioned "Just leave card you want to be reasonably close but don't actually use every day in your car. Your car is always with you or five minutes away". So I suppose your suggestion is to drive the car without bringing your driver's license with you since you only have your one payment card with you... because you should only have "one or zero cards". Other cards people may want to bring include: * their health insurance card * second credit card in case the first is only accepted at some locations (e.g. Costco Canada only accepts Mastercard). Also, not every retailer takes smart payments so you can't always pay with your phone. * a debit card (to pay in cash since some places only accept cash or debit OR to be able to withdraw cash) * Driver's license to be able to drive legally * Some countries are still cash based, so a wallet is used to carry cash as well * Access cards (RFID, etc...) * Membership cards * Bus pass * Rewards/Points/Stamp cards So maybe you don't have a car, have the slimest wallet and don't need any cards, have an opinion and are the ultimate minimalist. Perfectly fine. Nobody truly cares. Do what you need for your needs. Not everyone lives in the same city or country or has or wants the same lifestyle as you.
Ridge gave me a free elastic without asking why I even need one I was impressed with their customer service. I guess when you are charging that much for a wallet you made enough money to cover the rare once every 5-10 years elastic degradation 😅
Are you talking about the black anodized metal parts of the keychain? If so, I don't think any company can make black anodized metal parts not wear over time. It's just the nature of anything plated. With contact it will wear out and the sharper/harder edged the other objects in contact with it, the faster it will wear. Maybe they should have had plain non-plated metal options so that this can't happen.
@@FrakkingCreations yes thats what i mean. if i spent that much money on something i dont expect scratches period. if its just the nature of the material maybe they shouldnt sell it.
Cars have paint on them that can get scratched from driving on the highway when there is sand in the air, and can also get scratched from other people opening their car doors carelessly next to yours or brushing up against your car or from automatic car washes. Should the nature of paint in these and other examples then result in cars not being sold?
It's always up to the consumer to decide price vs quality vs brand. You could always choose to buy an iPhone (that is made in China) or generic YKMSFG or whatever other random letter brand phone also made in China. You will quickly know why it's that cheap. You can also buy something in between... so if you find a decent slim wallet that is cheaper than Ridge and in your price range... That's great... It fits your needs.
Give it another 6 months or so, and you will regret buying a Ridge. Mine is in pieces right now after the rivets started falling out over time, and the clip could barely secure itself. I'd advise people looking to buy a wallet like this to find another product.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Can you share what happened with the screws on your wallet? If they are loose, you should be able to tighten them with the included Torx screwdriver. Also, the wallet has a good warranty. Did you get a chance to get their warranty to resolve the issues you had?
I got same bundle like in the video for 10y anniversary in sale and works fine, i used the clip for like 6months and just swithced back to strap.. having no issue with it and screws were tied as when i swaped it first time.. think u should got mail with warranty information and should contact Ridge with life time warranty for these..
Why do you think it is a useless wallet? Have you had problems using one of these before? Though it has it's issues, I wouldn't say that it is useless. It does work well and aside from what I mentioned in the video, it still works well for me and I still like using it.
Why is this video considered "Bought comments"? If you watched the full video, I provided my own personal opinions after using the wallet for at least 5 month and also mentioned how much I paid for the whole kit.
Or why don't you just attach the money clip to the otherside. That way you can store double the amount of bills by using both cash strap and clip. Problem solved.
Yes, that can work too. For me, I prefer not to cover both panels since part of the appeal of this wallet is the custom panels, which is part of the high price you pay. Having both sides covered doesn't let you see the nice finish of the panels. One side uncovered is what I prefer. Using both the clip and money strap can definitely work for others. Also, having that much cash makes the wallet bulkier and mine is already getting big with 6 plastic cards, the coin tray and other non-plastic cards. This type of wallet definitely doesn't work well for someone that likes to carry a lot of cash.
@@FrakkingCreations I have the coin tray in mines as well as like 9 cards and $62 worth of bills. Still seems pretty compact to me. And I'm only using 1 strap. The money clip is still in the box.

Just got a 5$ one from china, does the same thing lol
Good on you for buying things based only on your needs. People should always consider the quality, brand and price point before buying something. Everyone will have different needs and priorities.
Does it ruin your cards?
I wouldn't say that the wallet itself directly ruins cards. The way it works by putting cards next to each other and pressing them together could cause them to scratch each other as you take the cards out and put them back in. That would also depend on the types of cards you have and what they are made of.
Does that answer your question?
Had this wallet for two years and literally just realized whats it doing to my cards, scratching them into oblivion 😡
Agreed. Some of my cards were damaged this way and I realized it sometime after this video was published.
The Ridge Wallet is like the Jordans of wallets. People hate it because theyre broke.
$400 is still not a flex buddy
There are so many better wallets for half or even quarter the price. Also the way this wallet disperses the cards is so annoying
Agreed. There are many good slim wallets available nowadays and have very good features at an affordable price. They can even disperse the cards nicer too.
The one thing I do like about the Ridge wallet, though, is the assortment of high quality cover plates with exotic materials. Most of the other brands don't offer this.
I made my own duct tape wallet for a fraction of the price!🤣
If it works, it works. Duct tape gang. Spray some WD40, and you're golden!
*RFID enters the chat*
Looks clunky and chunky. It's hard and not slim at all.
Other cards people may want to bring include:
* their health insurance card
* second credit card in case the first is only accepted at some locations (e.g. Costco Canada only accepts Mastercard). Also, not every retailer takes smart payments so you can't always pay with your phone.
* a debit card (to pay in cash since some places only accept cash or debit OR to be able to withdraw cash)
* Driver's license to be able to drive legally
* Some countries are still cash based, so a wallet is used to carry cash as well
* Access cards (RFID, etc...)
* Membership cards
* Bus pass
* Rewards/Points/Stamp cards
So maybe you don't have a car, have the slimest wallet and don't need any cards, have an opinion and are the ultimate minimalist.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing that.
How did you contact them and what did you say to them so that they gave you a free elastic?
The ridge wallet put a hole in my jeans after a few months.
Damn. What part of it caused this? The metal money clip?
@@FrakkingCreations I'm pretty sure it was the corners of the wallet that just wore through my jeans overtime.
Good to know. Thanks!
262,5$ after discount
Respect People feelings
For this price Tag the scratches on the keychain are unacceptable...
Hello, I have a paid consultation about the ridge wallet and would like to cooperate with you. Are you interested?
just buy the same thing on some chinese store for few dollars
It's always up to the consumer to decide price vs quality vs brand.
You could always choose to buy an iPhone (that is made in China) or generic YKMSFG or whatever other random letter brand phone also made in China. You will quickly know why it's that cheap.
You can also buy something in between... so if you find a decent slim wallet that is cheaper than Ridge and in your price range... That's great... It fits your needs.
They are like $10 USD on Ali Express.
They are not rivets but torx screws just call ridge and they will send you the screws free of charge
Úseless wallet.
Why do you think it is a useless wallet? Have you had problems using one of these before?
Though it has it's issues, I wouldn't say that it is useless. It does work well and aside from what I mentioned in the video, it still works well for me and I still like using it.
@@FrakkingCreations yes I have and it's uncomfortable to carry. Hard case is hard to put in your pants pockets.
I agree it's super uncomfortable when carrying it your pockets. I gave up after a week.
Prices for it is some kind of a joke.... It's a little piece of carbon it should be max $20 not more.
Your paying for the materials, design, pattent, idea, aswell as the brand, its not just some metal.
Cutting carbon fiber requires a specialized water jet cutter. It's aerospace grade, so it's gonna be more expensive.
ahahha 😂 the thickness is the same traditonal wallet
$70-$100 for a wallet...
Lmao people are dense.
If you're broke just say that.
crap, massively overpriced products
Sounds like you're just broke
BOUGHT COMMENTS!
😡
Why is this video considered "Bought comments"?
If you watched the full video, I provided my own personal opinions after using the wallet for at least 5 month and also mentioned how much I paid for the whole kit.
No, thanks. I was thinking of buying it but after watching your review im not gonna do it... This is waste of money
It definitely is not for everyone.
Overpriced, definitely not worth the money.
Why do we need wallets really in 2024? By end of this year, driver's licence and health cards will be digital... So... Don't see a point. 🤷♂️
Hard copies still exist my friend.
@@professorirelia7730 For now... Can't escape the inevitable.
@@SourStrawberryshow many bills can you fit in the tray?
