    Thank you! I've never had "loan words" explained---especially when a letter is omitted i.e. "job". Thank you! And, thank you for reassuring that multiple signs may be used for the same word--thus keep flexible.

She has become a good friend of mine but I still have so much to learn. I have really enjoyed and appreciated your videos. That is so nice that you want to communicate with you neighbor. In my 20's I had a deaf co-worker that no body took the time to learn ASL to at least say "Goodmorning" to her. I'm sure she felt very lonely as I often saw. So I decided to talk to her by writing and we became good friends afterwards. Then she would sign some words and I learned the ASL alphabet that enabled me to spell and ask for correct signs for what I wanted to say. Thus is how I became fluent enough in ASL to talk a storm with her😂. Eventually I was able to translate my supervisers instructions to her😊.

    My younger sister is on the spectrum, after speech therapy for many years as a child she speaks very well. However she hates talking she hates listening even more due to an auditory sensory problem. So she began learning sign language and using asl to communicate with certain peers and our mother. Although her not talking frustrated me, I finally decided to learn some ASL so I can communicate with her when she is overstimulated.

    I'm one of those who speaks spanish natively, also speaks English, has no friends with any disability or verbal problem, and there's no "immediate need" for me to learn this, yet I always found it interesting, and now I started learning it thanks to this channel (not only that but also know no person I can practice it with 😂, no friend, neighbor, I'm just practicing with myself thinking "yes I'm doing awesome, if I was on the other side I'd totally understand what I'm saying" but in reality I have not a clue lol).
    Found it really easy to learn (can't imagine how easy would it be if one used it frequently) and also think it's always helpful to know how to community with even more people (now if someone, myself included, needs help, I'll be able to understand it and react better to it)

    Hi there! These videos have really helped! I’m wondering, if you were to sign double letters, in another comment you said people sign one on top of the other or slightly next to it. Could I just sign it in the same space and pull my hand back slightly, and push it back? I believe this is called knocking, so would that be considered yelling? Thanks for all the help!

    • @ChrisGorges
      @ChrisGorges  3 роки тому +1

      It tends to vary from person to person and can sometimes be regional, but in our experience most people will slide the letters slightly to the side, although it can sometimes depend on the location of the double letter (middle or end of word/name) or the letter itself (L vs S). "Punching the letter is also done too though, so I would just emulate how others in your local community sign double letters :)
