Please contact the selling agent (details in description) if you require any more info! Let us know in the comments what you think to this property :)
Yeh obvs the fields been destroyed by machinery when building the mansion. I reckon the vid would of done the mansion more justice if they filmed this property a couple years down the line. So it was furnished inside and some sort of garden could be outside
I love the way they say no one will build by it as it is in a conservation area. How did they get to build that monstrosity in the first place. I live by it and it is a complete eyesore.
I agree! It's an absolute monstrosity! No idea what solihull council were trying to achieve apart from annoying us residents of Knowle! Looks like an office, no soul, and a blot on an otherwise beautiful area! Very upset this has been built. 😠
I think as a design piece it functions well but part of the cost comes with the design and architect. It works as a design but the lack of landscape and usability/flexibility of livable space probably not. I don't we should critics it just bc its not the same as everything else around it...its not meant to be. I'd be interested to know what restrictions its has on the planning permission.
My thoughts, too. Not sure how shipping containers fit into the idea of "in harmony with its surroundings". I guess it's pretty invisible but very odd. No landscaping so my guess is they ran out of money or it's not worth completing an architects vanity project. Watching it progress I'm thinking any criminal who has retained their ill gotten gains would love it as the window bars are a wonderful reminder of a prison cell. What nutter is going to buy this?
I agree when they said house i was thinking weres the house , ive seen better looking shipping containers , and landscaping would not improve the look of this .
Banality trying to pass as style, promoted by low brow students who were taught by professors promoting Kitsch Moderne. It's a set for an absurd remake of the Avengers. Sports cars driving through while being shot at from the neighbors.
I like this house. I would fill the inside with large green houseplants. Landscape the outside with a pond, orchard and woodland areas. What a joy to be able to do all that on a blank canvas.
Somebody said in one of the threads that they are not allowed to landscape the surrounding land as part of the planning permission. This is because it's in a conservation area. Basically you get to live in a field.
I like a high ceiling but those are too high in my opinion. All the heat will rise to above head height surely. Also it looks sunny outside but quite dark in most of the rooms..
Those cottage style houses you can just see through the living room window were only recently built, and the owners all paid a fortune for them. Only for this monstrosity to then pop up and take away the beautiful views they’d expected to have. Felt so sorry for them as I watched it go up. It’s been for sale for over 2 years now - guess no-one wants to pay £3.5m for something that has all the visual appeal of a warehouse after all... 💁♀️
Completely agree. It's an absolute eyesore to drive past let alone live next to. Very surprised the local planning authority gave this consent. What's to stop neighbouring land owners going ahead and building more outrageous shipping containers! The same planning authority that took years to approve the horrid shopping precinct in Dorridge.
@@brigelli Dorridge looks way better now that the precinct has been built, did you not see it before? Look at the state of Knowle shopping area, that needs some immediate attention.
Many of the comments mention that it is not a family home, However, I see a couple who respect their privacy and don’t have any children enjoying the peace and space of this home. I think it is well designed inside and beautiful interior. The designer has took a twist from the exterior and shown us the true beauty of “Never judge a book by it’s cover” :) x
I live near it and its disgusting it blocks a few cottages which were expensive and had nice views until this came. There are rumours that there was bribery in the planning permission
I agree. You would need a few million to landscape to make habitable. Even then you would have to have a maintenance contract just to keep the place clean. What a sink hole for money.
True 🤣 I was confused. But once you step into the front area and enter the home it breathe taking. But it needs an amazing landscape to pull it all together ASAP! 😂 Because no one will but it if their not a creative minded individual.
the way some of the rooms have been laid out baffles me, ruining the 2nd largest bedroom by putting a sauna in it? and having 2 bathrooms right next to 1 bedroom?
It really is an interesting house, but it feels closed in somehow. Like the slits for windows makes it feel like a jail. Maybe if I was actually inside it would feel different.
Someone said that, as part of the planning permission, they are not allowed to landscape it. Because it's a conservation area you get to live in a field.
This home is definitely different in terms of contemporary design. The glass on the second floor could be dangerous and possibly the designer did not consider this in his or her imprint. What looks good on paper is not always practical and safe.
Matt & Summer. Probably the most interesting property you have ever featured. Incredible. An obvious Architect's house. Eco, incredible build quality, those full height doors Fisher & Paykel is Australian company. [i think] Incredible quality. Not for everyone but will be an iconic building for years to come. I agree, each time you walked somewhere the effect would be.. On, off, on, off... It would be a nightmare for epilepsy sufferers, or people with migraine. It looks like it also puts a permanent stripe across the TV screen. I can't imagine how dark it is on a dull day.
@@HilaryB. I was thinking the same! I suffer migraine and those windows in the kitchen need to be frosted then the light would be diffuse and it would be much better IMHO. on the plans it looks like the walls can be closed off between the kitchen and living dining area as well.
@@TheGoodbyeGirl I just think it's a badly designed house all round tbh, the laundry room near the entrance means you'd have to walk the entire length of the house to put your washing away. Those indoor gardens would block out more light, once planted, in an already dark house and, surely the point of a garden is that it's outside, in the fresh air? The lay out is confusing, the presenters couldn't work out where they were some of the time, the bedrooms didn't appear to have any doors, just a zigzag entrance. I could go on, but mostly I just find it cold, characterless and not somewhere I'd want to live I'm afraid.
@@HilaryB. They did not show it to its advantage.
@@TheGoodbyeGirl you have to think long term though, that walk might wear a bit thin after a few months, the laundry room needs to be central really. The indoor garden is indeed closed in, built behind the outer windows, and enclosed behind sliding windows on the inside, perhaps you were thinking of something else. Also I think they had to film it on a bright day, on a dull one we'd hardly be able to see anything. There are other issues with it that I can't be bothered to point out, but sorry, I hate it and would never live in it, each to their own!

I live in solihull and drive past this monstrosity regularly. People with £3.5 million arnt stupid enough to waste it on that. Will be interesting to see how long its on the market for and how much it eventually sells for
For that price I'd demand landscaping and interior furnishing. Elegant design, but the dark kitchen doesn't work well at all and the staircase is too basic. £3.5mil is too much!
Hence why it’s never going to sell for anywhere near that price. It’s a giant box with lots of awkward rooms, terrible natural light and sat in the middle of a boggy old farm. I thought it was office space when I first drove passed
I don't know why but the house exterior and layout like the windows reminds me of a high school and there's so much unused land around the home but its overall nice design, I love the kitchen and use of hidden storage. Great video!
‘Interesting’ is definitely the word. Not homely or cosy enough for me. You’re right that the heating would need to be on high constantly to keep the house warm. I feel odd even calling it a ‘house’ 😅 My initial reaction on seeing the inside was that it doesn’t match the setting at all. Using the given area of land I would have tried to compliment the beautiful surroundings and matched the interior to the exterior. Gorgeous red brick and natural and wood...yes please. Black and white, cold, ‘hard’ furnishings....no thanks! Definitely a video worth watching though!
I live in knowle and this has been widely derided as a planning back-handed, some call it B&Q knowle. Inside is bit better but office like or bland hotel. Would need a fortune to make it homely, not to mention the garden. The road overlooks the main entrance so not very private either. Obvious why this has never sold.
Oh wow! I’ve never seen a house like this before ZB the design is crazy! And well worth the money! It’s beautiful and wouldn’t mind the location! Well done keep up the work and stay safe! I can’t wait for the updates for the underground house 🏡 try hoddesdon / Hertfordshire xxxx
Fisher and Paykel are New Zealand brand pf the most amazing quality. So great to see such a brand used in this house. My fridge that I bought from Oz to the U.K has been going strong since 2000.
Hi Matt and Summer i hope all well and safe:), great video guys as always. Being a designer myself what made me concerned was the ventilation and windows not opening. If i had my way the property in all glass and openings for fresh air would be awesome and concrete outside less maintenance.Looking forward to your next venture, :))
Not sure I like this house but very interesting to see it. This channel is excellent. I enjoy the mix of properties that you guys show, from very unusual ones like this to more 'ordinary' ones. Great content!
Looks like a home for ancient giants!!😅 I think they might end up making it a getaway home but that's if the surrounding area can give a wonderland adventure vibe than a desert vibe. Worse case an office space not sure it's for permanent living tbh.The surrounding exterior with no trees 🌲 I agree with the giant Christmas tree to swallow up space.
Wow, wow, wow! I was confused at first by the outside house design. But, as you walk closer I was blown away by the architecture. You can get very creative with the landscape etc. The inside is a blank canvas a designers dream, like myself! 💕 Simply enjoying your property viewings.
Very interesting house, and specific needs but for £3.5m... If it was circa £1m you may think OK I'll take a punt and renovate the entire house but who in their right mind is going to pay anywhere near the asking price. We love your videos by the way. Please come to Doncaster 👍
For future reference, it’s a... patio sliding door, two main types, sliding door (short small handle) or lift and slide (long large handle). Bifolding doors... fold. 2 main types, bifolding or fold and slide.
The surrounding land is just screaming to have a swimming pool, tennis/basketball courts on it!! I’m surprised a huge property like this doesn’t have a cinema room or something - considering it’s huge size! I love the interior because I am definitely a modern interior kinda person but would definitely prefer a more homely feel and less glass...can’t help but think all of That open glass during the night would be so scary to look into the fields lol!
Wow! Such an interesting design. I’m not sure I’d want to live there though. It looks like a shipping container from the outside. 😂 But kudos to the architect for designing something so unique 👏🏼
I live 2 mins from this monstrosity....it's been on the market for YEARS and the locals hate it...the camera doesn't do it justice, it is GARGANTUAN and looks like an airport terminal dumped in a field!😬
Yes, I can imagine the locals do HATE IT! I certainly do! I actually used the very same word in my first comment about it.....MONSTROSITY!! That is exactly what this is! A monstrosity! As I said in my original comment, If I had tried to build a small eco friendly house in this location, I would of probably been denied planning permission because its in a 'conservation area' But some RICH MORON is allowed to build this utterly DISGUSTING MONSTROSITY!! Honestly is makes me SO ANGRY!! People with money can literally do what ever they want! But people like us are denied even the smallest of things when building properties! I really do hope this place NEVER sells and ends up being demolished. I really can't believe this was ever given planning permission! I suspect someone in the council was probably PAID a lot of money to say 'yes' to this....MONSTROSITY!
That's why it looks abandoned. Shipping containers analogy keeps cropping up. I'm unsure about the Broadmarsh prison bar look to the windows. The lack of landscaping is now explained by your comment. I doubt it'll ever sell. Proof that eco architects shouldn't be given an open ended brief. Carbuncle. Though that words greatest exponent would probably love its eco credentials.
Lovely bright house. It’s not just the interior design that’s needed. A couple of deer hounds lounging on a rug in the sunshine would add some life. Though you could house ALL the dalmatians!
I do love the wood and brick building method, it also utilises the glass panels really well, I just feel that it’s way too big. It would probably take on a whole different persona when furnished though. Take care and stay safe.
Personally I like the aspect and idea of this house, although I wouldn’t be too sure on the practicality of it, but it’s still stunning! I’d love to see some tours in Somerset and Wiltshire areas😁
It's an extraordinary looking building. First observations are the shaft of light that goes straight over the end of your massive TV, and so much black! My wife would hate all the black fittings everywhere. For a house that should be about light all the kitchens and living space contains massive black units. I do like the massive walk-in showers. I've not seen any showers that big since my last visit to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Do love those. The building however looks more like an office build and its set in 6.5 acres of landscape from a Mad Max movie. it would take so much money and effort to make all that landscape look different from the wasteland it looks like now. Interesting building but would I pay £3.5m? probably not. It's an interesting video guys so thanks for sharing.
Just reading through the comments it's clearly very much a "Marmite" house - people either love it or hate it. (I'm more on the "hate" side myself; if I had £3.5 million to spend on a house in the West Midlands this wouldn't be it.)
Nice house, good price, lots of space inside & out, you could buy this house as a investment & rent it out time to time to the movie industry, events, weddings
I really love this house, if it was furnished right it would be spectacular! This is my fave house you've toured and it's completely different to anything else and the zipline idea is all too tempting
I live nearby and go past it many times. It looks like an eye sore from the outside but this video is the first time I've seen the inside. The inside is actually alright
This is a really interesting design and I do like it, there are a few things I would change though, namely the windows in the kitchen need to be frosted to diffuse the light, I'd also do the same to the windows in the living room otherwise you cant watch TV properly, it also looked on the plans like there was a possibility to close off the living room and dining room with moveable wall panels? I think it would have looked much better had the lights been working, trying to film in bright sunlight with dark interiors is a nightmare.
Incredible house, I though I'd hate it but it was truly incredible a unique contemporary design the works. Bricks, wood, white, matte black, marble black that's not too busy? Plenty of light with no windows? Genius. ( I'm so glad to see you are both well, I apologize for being a busy body I was just worried) P.S. I had to change to middle name which probably won't be a duplicate )
I'm not usually in to really modern homes but i actually really like this property 👌 It looks slightly like a barn conversion and i loved how light and bright it is. My only issue was that it is quite office like and was making me think that schools could be built like this in the future 🤣 really good tour guys! Well done! xx

Can't be bothered to check all of the comments but has anyone used the word "grotesque" yet?
They have now.
I love the simplicity of the geometry in that house for a OCD this is paradise ❤️❤️
I know Solihull very well, I know exactly where this house is. I would much rather live on Lady Byron Lane. Beautiful village Knowle is.
This is 2 mins from me, I remember it getting built always wanted to see inside Thankyou!
I absolutely love the way the light comes into the property.
Good house tour, Matt & Summer. Perfect for a house & work space in one.
Fantastic house and enjoyed your tour commentary, good level of detail and chat. Thanks for positing ...
Love this place! It’s very grand and modern. I wonder how you’d keep the light out of you room when you want to sleep 😴
finally something really outstanding, guys more properties like that, please
the biggest issue for me would be the lack of proper windows.
This house is like a museum / gallery... awesome
I live very close to this house, but in the main part of Solihull. We bought our house through fine and country aswell😉
Didn’t expect to like it but I must say it grew on me throughout the video
Fisher and Paykel are New Zealand brand pf the most amazing quality. So great to see such a brand used in this house. My fridge that I bought from Oz to the U.K has been going strong since 2000.
I hope whoever buys it, lives there fills it with lots of family and friends brings the place to life and does it justice
Been looking at this house on rightmove for months I’m in love🤩🤩🤩
Not sure I like this house but very interesting to see it. This channel is excellent. I enjoy the mix of properties that you guys show, from very unusual ones like this to more 'ordinary' ones. Great content!
An amazing house - love the huge volumes of space! Your best tour yet...great stuff :)
As I said in my original comment, If I had tried to build a small eco friendly house in this location,
I would of probably been denied planning permission because its in a 'conservation area'
But some RICH MORON is allowed to build this utterly DISGUSTING MONSTROSITY!!
Such a cool house, love this video! Great job guys😁
- Where do you live?
- in a giant container 😂
When the bathrooms are the highlight of a £3.5m property, something has definitely gone wrong...
I really love this house, if it was furnished right it would be spectacular! This is my fave house you've toured and it's completely different to anything else
and the zipline idea is all too tempting
I live nearby and go past it many times. It looks like an eye sore from the outside but this video is the first time I've seen the inside. The inside is actually alright
I love this house. I’ve loved it since it’s planning stage ♥️
🙏Matt & Summer. Another great daily upload for us viewers. Really interesting property, I know it quite well.
Well done! xx
Love it, nice walk thru presentation, massive yet modern and neat... cool house‼️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
really like the reactions when you look around, dont look around before, leave it to honest open reactions, its make for a better video.....
