My 94 did the exact same thing 2 years ago.I would replace the cam position sensor and it would run fine but about 2 weeks later it would do the same thing again.I had just replaced the cam sensor and it died but started back up so I popped the hood and it was dark on the side of the highway and I saw a spark.the 2 wires between the ipr and the connector were both bare and would touch intermittently so it was kinda like how you found yours.I bought the pigtail from Riffraff where I buy most of my stuff for the 7.3.that was a really good video I didn’t think of making a video because I was thinking it was just my truck having trouble.😂
It can be a HUGE pain to chase electrical sometimes! All of us powerstroke people are in this together! Lol. Thanks for watching.
May God Bless you for making this Video I Had the Exact same Problem. Thank you
Thank you for the kind words!! I'm glad it helped my friend!
Good information! My truck is a 97 7.3 270,000 miles. Been a fantastic truck!
I have a 97 f 350 7.3 love it .. bur mine has a intercooler 😎
Love the sarcasm! I’m subscribing just to see his future fixes! Good stuff! We all been there but u say it
Thank you very much! We appreciate it! And not even sarcastically!

Love it, keep ‘em coming
More to come!
I’m having the same issue in my ‘97. It cranks and starts fine one day, next day it cranks/no start and no smoke. Thanks for the heads up. I’m gonna investigate the IPR. Don’t go and sell yours. You’ll hate yourself later
Definitely a great place to start! And I know, I've been on the fence about selling it a few times, but I always come back to reality and give my head a shake. Thanks for watching!!
When you do the clutch make sure you replace the sleeve that the throw out bearing rides on. Get an oem or equal. Also rock auto sells the fuel bowl cheap it comes with all the wires that you had to replace because of leaking diesel. Last burned out pins at the connection for the under cover harness are common. You can splice pigtails in or buy a small kit that comes with new plastic connectors and metal clips. It also has the metal pick to get the wires out if the connector. The leaking diesel on the back of the heads is because the orings are worn out where the fuel lines connect to the heads. When you pull the transmission you will see them replace them then.
Thank you for the insight! I'll make sure to look into all of that!
Way before i went to mechanic school i was always taught to remove all jewelry before working on anything.
Absolutely! Great point!
Thanks for the info, i got my hands full with my 1997 7.3. Where did you get your headlights from? Nice.
Same sort of issues? These are just your cheap ebay specials, the originals were fogged up and faded terribly.
Thanks man.
Same wiring issue with my 96f350. Thank you
No problem, thank you for watching!
I went to diesel engine mechanic school before they had all them eec.I have seen a drop of water shut em down
Greetings, I have a 1995 Ford diesel power stroke 7.3, it starts perfectly but it doesn't want to accelerate and I changed the accelerator pedal and the computer and it remains the same, what could be the cause? I need your urgent help, it is a crane and it is my method of working and I have been on foot for 3 months.
Oof, yikes. That's a hard one. There's some really great flow charts out there for diagnosing a 7.3, and are a great place to start. Remember not to throw parts at it though, always confirm your issue if possible!
That being said, if it only happens when you go to accelerate, check the tin nut on the back of the IPR, the solenoid and sensor on the back thr HPOP, under your fuel bowl, front of the valley. It may be loose enough that under acceleration, it cuts off. I'd start there.
Good luck, though! I hope you're able to get it soon.
If you’ve never cleaned the sludge out of the HPOP, I would definitely do it. Mine was very sluggish until I vacuumed all the sludge out and replaced it with fresh oil. I was skeptical it would help before I did it, but it made a big difference in acceleration!
Cam sensors can do it too
Don't take the FORD camping,,lol
Yuuuuup mine is doing the same thing
I hope this helped a little!
Did you happen to have a no ‘wait to start’ light as well? I’m having this issue right now my truck started fine this morning and while warming up it shut off then crank no start and no smoke out the tail pipe, but she sat for about 10 minutes and the wait to start like came back on and started again, then shut off about 30 seconds later then again crank no start and no smoke out the tail pipe
To be honest I don't remember, now.. But everything else you've described is sure similar. I would check this, and then maybe for fuse 22 being blown but maybe still making a little contact?
Good luck!
had the same thing happen to my truck .
Isn't easy chasing ghosts, especially when it can make a perfect connection at one time and completely the opposite the next! Thanks for watching1
@@cisforcarscurrently going through this with my 95 😢it’s my welding rig so it’s taking a big toll on me
Yikes. It's not cool, especially when it's used to make you money. Best of luck with it! Take it slow and troubleshoot what you can!
How's the truck been running since then?
It's been perfect! Clutch will be going in soon, she's currently resting for a month or so.
Link to the harness you purchased?
It's an Amazon special, but it had the best reviews and the build quality seems fine. It also utilizes the newer style locking mechanism, which I like.

Heavy caution If your watch were to contact with the alternator stud heavy danger. Just saying The old school guy.
Thanks for the caution!
Where you able to do injector buzz test when it wasn’t working?
Unfortunately no! That's the problem with the 1994, and some early 1995 Powerstrokes. The PCM would need a refresh to properly run an OBD scan tool. So this truck has very very little in the way of digital diagnostics.
Being said, I'm sure there's a way to do it without this, but I don't know it.
Where’d you get those headlights
These were just your run of the mill cheapos from Amazon, or ebay.
I hope this is our problem
It's a good place to start! Good luck!
I know the agony of working on these trucks 😅
Sometimes good! Sometimes maybe terrible! Lol
Good stuff but too long winded and repetitive. Get to the point!
Fair enough, thanks for watching!
