Going off of what you said about telling people your personal business I want to add that it's going to be times where you will get frustrated with your coworkers. That is normal ,but please do not go venting to the next person. Let it roll off your back and if it is still bothering you the only people you should be venting to is your husband, sister, or close best friend that you trust that doesn't work there.
AMEN. Don’t be a drama starter. 👏🏻👏🏻 and it’s good to remember that we all have annoying quirks so if you don’t want people talking about you, it’s best not to talk about people (especially in the office people).
Starting a job tomorrow.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! How was your first couple days?
I’m 2 years late but same lol
THAT FEELING NOT KNOWING omg yes! My #1 struggle but I'm learning to get past it
You got this girl 😉
Starting my first job as a PR and social media associate tomorrow. Thank you for this!
This gave me hope! I just started my channel a few weeks back and work a full time job! Thanks for the advice! :)
Awww I'm so glad!!
Love it. Girllll the nerves yesss I was a ball of nerves for the first at least 6 months. Actually I’m probably still nervous a lot of times. Lol glad it’s normal 😂
Hahaha you do well with handling them from what I see in your vlogs ;) keep pushing through, you're doing awesome!
I love the positive approach to this! Thank you
Attack the problem of not knowing in a positive way, but make sure to stay in your own lane. Unless your company encourages cross functional employees to take on new challenges in other departments. I learned this lesson the hard way. Also, keep in mind your company's or your department's or your team's work methodology and educate yourself on that. Be coachable. Be comfortable with continually learning. I second the power of listening! So TRUE! Be humble and okay with failure. Accept other people's thoughts before your own. Great video.
Thank you for the advise. I really needed this.
I'm about to be a senior accounting student and I keep thinking about when I graduate how work life will be . Thanks for the video
Glad it's been helpful! Thank you for watching!
Omg i love videos like this Stephie!! Love u n thanks for the vid love ❤️
This is really helpful, thank you for the advice!
Thank you for watching! 🖤
Just wanted to let you know that I have decided to quit my job at the big 4 and will continue my career at a mid size audit firm. Your videos regarding switching jobs, interviewing while working etc have really really helped me a lot so thanks for that!
I graduate vet tech program this thursday with my twin sister and i got her the same shirt you're wearing! Your advices are always informative!
That's awesome!! Congratulations to you both 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I definitely felt super confident in my auditing knowledge after passing the cpa exam. However, applying professional skepticism in real life can be super hard especially when you have management who gets defensive with you.
Thank you for your pieces of advise!
Thank you for watching :)
Amazing advice. Thank you!
You are great! I am learning much from your video’s!
Awww I'm so glad, thank you so much for watching!
This was a year ago, it was in my recommendations today. I'm a senior in college have 10 classes to go, also have an interview tomorrow and is so nervous, but this really helped. Thanks
I hope your interview went well 💗
I’m 19 and I’m currently trying to get my first full time job, I’m also a college student .. I’m a little nervous that life is going to overwhelm me, I don’t know how I’m going to find the time to study, spend time with my fiancé , friends and family, workout while also having time to run my writing business. I’m a little anxious about it but I’m ready to start building some stable income so me and my fiancé can get our first apartment by December . So much to do.. I’m stressed :/
starting my role as a case manager from graduating university omg!!
I like working full time but I work in the mornings 6-2pm. I have 0 problems working early if I can leave early. And spend time with my family after 2 pm and the stable income is nice as well.
When you were first starting out in the job market, when it came to looking for a job did you put more emphasis into finding a position with a better salary or better benefits?
At first, salary was more important vs benefits for me.
Lol Mike gave some good tips Steph 😀
Haha thank you!! Maybe I should ask for his input more often, he always gives me good advice 😁
Would you be able to speak about the different industries in public accounting (audit). I have been at a top 20 firm for 6 months and recently I received an offer from a top 5 firm for a financial services audit. The demand for good accountants in Chicago is crazy right now so both firms are now bidding for me. However, I have always done manufacturing and government, so I have no idea what financial services entails or if I would like it. Thank you and love your videos !
Yes I'll definitely do a video on industries! Financial services is usually investment banks, broker dealers, loans of all kinds, etc. Auditing concepts remain the same, just industry specific areas like loan reserves. If you can wrap your head around those concepts or have interest in stocks and loans, it would be a good fit. Some people like dealing with those intangible "goods" while others may not. Just a brief summary for now. Congrats tho - it's a huge compliment they're fighting over you :)
OMG, this Dog Mom tank top! I'm gonna have to get me one of those.
I'm thinking about starting a channel and I'd love to know what your experience has been, has it affected your professional life? Have you been clocked or judged or anything?
Girrrrl yes do it!! (Both tank and UA-cam) I'll do a video on the topic but essentially, it hasn't affected me professionally.... directly. Learned the hard way to be OVERLY careful about what you share. Whether you have a bad day and vent, even super generally, because you never know who's watching. If you follow that, it shouldn't affect you at all. There will be some people who are negative but majority are supportive.
Thank u for this Stephie! I was just feeling a lot of the things tht u mentioned. I am in the middle of my internship & thinking about studying for the cpa exam. Do u think thats a good idea? Id appreciate ur opinion! ❤️
Hi love! I'd say only start studying for it if you're already CPA exam eligible, submitted your paperwork and approved in your state and have a test date in mind. I wouldn't start studying for it unless then because most CPA exam prep material has a limited time window (like 18 - 24 months) before you have to repay for the software. Otherwise if you are ready, then I say go for it! Just be sure to set yourself up for success 🖤
FT is not the move for me atm. I’m still in school and feel so burnt out.
Stephie...my son needs to listen to this. As an incoming college accounting grad he sure doesn't want to listen to me and I'm a former HR leader and now Recruiter in the Accounting/finance space!. YOU though I think maybe he will listen to!! YOU nailed everything in this video. I LOVE all the content. I'm going to share this on Linkedin. Seriously...I just recorded a video on A Players last night about being reflective and knowing themselves. YOU are one. The advice you give everyone here is priceless. Active development, ask for help, humbleness, Accountability, Active Learning, Quality over quantity, don't share too much...
YOU totally need to do a part 2...share examples on some of the areas. I think many don't know what good looks like. Hubby you had great advice too. :-) I could go on forever on this topic...your video was just too good ..got me going!
Awww thank you so much!! You are so encouraging, you would be a great recruiter to work with 🖤
What do think about blockchain Stephie? Do you think its gonna change accounting as we know today?
How did you handle the stress and nerves of looking for a full time job, interviewing for career jobs, and starting your full time job out of college?
I'll definitely address it more in a video but in essence, I held onto my belief and faith that eventually it would all be worth it. Just keep striving for what you want and everything else is noise/lessons learned.
I’m a senior in Electrical Engineering, I’m so terrified because I’m scared that I’m expected to know everything. My professor told me that these companies want to know a lot but I just know the basic concepts of electrical engineering. What is your advice for me?
Just completed my final year in investment management and I have that exact fear of high expectations once I start working, while feeling as though I only know the basic concepts...so I feel you brother😪..how are things going btw ?
I know you have mentioned you did audit when you worked big 4. How did you know you wanted to do audit, and not tax or assurance? I'm doing and internship with one if the big 4 next summer but still have no clue what I want to focus on.
I did a video on this a while ago - hopefully it'll help answer your question :)

Stephie // stephienese thank you!
Do you have to do a lot of presentations in a accounting work?
Yes - not so much with slide decks or visual presentations (probably 30% of meetings) but definitely lots of orally presenting in meetings with multiple people, following along with an agenda, etc.
1st 😑💗
Hehe you da best 🙌
Are you a senior associate now or senior manager?
I'm a manager
Stephie // stephienese like assistant manager or senior manager?
In the US we don't have assistant manager titles..... so whatever is in between a senior associate and senior manager lol
I meant in the firms I've worked for, there isn't an assistant manager title.
