Fun fact: in the original version of the aircraft scene, Snug Porter (Helen's old friend from the Air Force who gave her the plane) was actually the pilot, and died in the explosion. That's why Helen looks down at the sinking piece of the fuselage somberly after it crashes into the ocean - originally his body was supposed to be in it. They changed it because they decided that Helen flying the plane herself would put a lot more emphasis on her being responsible for the safety of her kids, and also because taking a moment to mourn the death of this minor character the audience has only known for five minutes would take the focus off the horror Bob felt in that scene, thinking his whole family was just wiped out in an instant.

the DVD extras explained who "Snug" was. As a superhero who cannot fly, Elasti-Girl needed a way to get to far away places. Enter Snug; her piolot. In the original draft of the story, he'd be flying the plane in that scene, and when Helen is looking at the wreckage underwater, his hat was going to float up. This was cut because in order for audiences to care about his death, more scenes establishing him would have been needed, taking away from the family. Early into production, it was suggested that Helen simply fly the plane, but Brad Bird initially resisted because he still wanted someone to be lost in the explosion. However, he soon realized that the scene would work better with Helen in Snug's role on account of having her as the sole person responsible for her family's safety heightened the intensity.
Kronos actually castrated his father to ascend the throne, and he worked alongside his siblings. It was his children he ate. His children then broke out when Kronos was fed a vomiting agent and overthrew him.
Fun fact: Brad Bird, the film's director, had several actresses in mind for Edna. The role was offered to Lily Tomlin, who ended up declining. Why? During storyboarding sessions, Bird recorded a demo tape of how he thought Edna should sound to use as reference. However, everyone on the creative team (and even a few of the auditioning actresses) unanimously agreed that his performance was so good, they should just use that in the film instead!

It’s a pretty great movie for what it is. Not to mention it’s the only good movie version of the Fantastic Four we’ll ever get.
"When everyones super, no one will be" is such a good line, it explains his character perfect. He hates supers, he wants rhem all dead, but if he makes every average person super, itll make rhe real supers not above the rest anymore, effectively killing supes for good. Its similar to what bob was dealing with in the beginning talking about his son graduating rhe 4th grade , they wanna make everyone seem special and put down the actual special ones, the same way syndrome is doing
That comment from Bob foretold the future. And it is exactly why so many kids grew up in the participation award generation. When the bare minimum is treated like an amazing accomplishment, it hurts the people who have potential that is _genuinely_ spectacular.
I remember a Disney magazine had a contest for kids to submit requests for a personalized superhero suit designed by “Edna Mode”. Capes were an option but they did include a warning from her that capes were dangerous 😂
Fun fact, in a lot of state, there’s a law known as the Good Samaritan Law, which basically stops people from being sued for any injuries caused to someone who’s life is being saved. So if something like the opening happened in real life, the jumper would probably not be able to sue Mr Incredible for saving him
It's actually within reason - injuries sustained while being saved. If you save someone by giving CPR and break a few bones it's acceptable, but if you save someone then proceed to punch them in the face, they can sue for that. It is not a law that voids any injuries. Just reasonable injuries. Otherwise you could save an unconscious person, assault them, then be unpursued.

Is Invisibility is derived from force shield? I think in comics the invisible woman's power worked that way. Like the bending the light so that people cannot see her.
I can’t remember if it was from the director or one of the writers, but each of the character’s powers were designed to fit family archetypes: dads are supposed to be strong, so Bob has super strength, moms are supposed to be flexible, so Helen is elastic, teenagers disappear and put up walls, so Violet can turn invisible and make force fields, kids have unlimited energy, so Dash has super speed, and babies are full of potential, so Jack-Jack has a bunch of powers
Elisabeth Pena was the voice of Mirage. She's the lady from Rush Hour. The female detective who works with Lee and Carter in the first film to get the little girl back. She was the one who stops the bomb from exploding.

Another comment on a reaction to this movie pointed out that Frozone was originally being targeted. I mean, come on, Bob just happens to encounter the Omni Droid right next to a volcanic vent? No, that was planned because, as Frozone mentions, if he gets dehydrated and there is no water in the air, he can't make ice, rendering him powerless. Mirage didn't even know that "the fat guy" in the car with Frozone was Bob until she saw his powers in action and she knew Syndrome wanted to defeat his idol so she adjusted the target from Frozone to Bob. Explains why Frozone's location was listed as "known" while Elastigirl's was "unknown." It's possible Frozone wouldn't have accepted the invite given how he's feeling the strain of doing secret hero work with Bob, saying he'd rather actually go bowling because sooner or later he felt they were going to get caught, and they almost did.

The Incredibles is what people say to be Pixar's best movie. The story telling for this movie is fantastic. This movie has a perfect amount of comedy for a mostly serious film. I also respect the amount of risks this movie takes. Of course there are a lot of deaths, lots of gun violence, and even a suicide attempt early on in the movie which would not fly by Disney in 2024. It is as perfect of a movie that Pixar can get.
Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone is one of my favorite castings in a kid's movie ever. "Honey....where's my supersuit?" Side note: Edna Mode was inspired bya few people: Edith Head: Who designed the costumes for Gone With The Wind and Breakfast At Tiffany's down to the iconic round glasses and bob haircut. Anna Wintour: Editor-In-Chief of Vogue magazine with a no-nonsense attitude and flawless sense of fashion. Iris Apfel: Fashion businesswoman known for her eccentric sense of style and bold personality.
its weird how out of the three kids...only one has a power that seems to stem from one of the parents Jack Jack has a lot of powers Violet can make forcefields and turn invisible but Dash...he has super speed, which relates to the muscles in his legs...its just super strength but legs
This is definitely one of Pixar's darkest movies and I love it so much. And Michael Giacchino was absolutely firebending in the music room with that score
Definitely one of my favorite superhero films on the block! I remember going to an exclusive screening of The Incredibles with my family and it was a lot of fun. An experience I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.
There is a Jak Jak short animation that shows what was during the babysitting part. Give that a quick watch before you watch Incredibles 2 which btw came out 15 years later.
45:56 she may be a lesser villain, but she is still a villain and this "no kill rule" that is held by so many superheroes is completely non-functional, puts innocent civilians In harm's Way when villains inevitably break out, and only there because we live in a society where if you aren't a police officer you can't LEGALLY do anything more than notify the cops and walk away, this has technically been the law since BEFORE modern super heroes were first conceptualized and thus they the story writers had to go non-lethal for the heroes in order to sell there product... Realistically you would follow through because the only thing that that type of person understands is fear. that is why Batman realize so heavily on fear, but in all reality he doesn't go far enough, the villains may fear Batman, but at the end of the day they know he never kills so they will ultimately be alright... Imagine if syndrome saw mr. Incredible as someone to be feared, a hero who showed no mercy to those who harm the innocent and isn't to be trifled with, he would have given up on his delusions of vengeance not just on mr. Incredible, but also people who did nothing to him. In this scenario, the entire plot of the movie would have been prevented...
So you wanted Mr. Incredible to kill Mirage, a defenseless woman, just because she was just following orders? Him sparing her life is what got her to wake up and switch sides. Killing her needlessly would ruin his reputation, and he would no longer be seen as a hero. You gotta remember that real heroes don't take lives unless they absolutely have no choice. Which is what Mr. Incredible had to resort to when he killed Syndrome by throwing the car, which triggered the cape getting snagged. Threatening Mr. Incredible himself is one thing. Threatening his family is another, especially trying to kidnap his infant son. That was a step too far and Mr. Incredible realized Syndrome was too dangerous to be left alive. You don't kill villains without giving them at least one chance and offer of redemption or if it's over a minor incident. And you especially don't kill the villains subordinates because for one, some might not have a choice as they are being forced to do bad things. And another reason is they are just following orders.
It's always so sweet seeing you guys react to the cream of the crop of films. The Incredibles was one of my family's favorite movies that we all could get behind. For me, it was the characters and beauty of the animation that had me from minute one. I always have a soft spot for animation styles that combine primary colors and darker shades because it gives it a cool film noir look, hence my love for Teen Titans growing up. Sidenote: Edna Mode is one of the greatest characters ever written, period. She's basically Brad Bird and Hayao Miyazaki. "I never look back, darling. It distracts from the now." Also, the next movie for sure to put on your watchlist is Corpse Bride. You're gonna love the jokes and personality in this one.
This movies puts superheros into a new perspective. I mean imagine the Justice League being in a witness protection type program. And with capes? Superman and Batman didn't seem to have any trouble.
I dont know if anyone commented it yet, but the names of the kids relates to their superpowers. Dash is obvious and i forget how violet correlates, but Jack Jack is a "jack of all trades". Meaning he has way more superpowers than just 1-2 and will be a big handful to raise. Another interesting thing about the movie (more of a theory than fact) is that Edna's speech about the capes was more than foreshadowing the death of syndrome, and may have been a hint that his suit was designed by her. The idea is that he was very open with her about his evil plans so when creating his suit the cape was added as a way to stop him from winning.
How the powers work with the two parents- It was actually headcannoned by fans (me included) for decades since the sequel didn't come out til ages later. In a deleted scene, Helen and Bob are told by Syndrome that supers aren't suppose to breed when he hears their daughter Violet (as a baby) crying. It's than shown she could turn Invisible from a small age. So the theory and later confirmed explanation is that most supers are the result of a super parent and a regular human, meaning they have one power. But when two supers have kids, it's not uncommon for the kids to show powers early AND like Jack-Jack, to have a few powers before settling into one. It's unstable genetics. ~~ As for Violet, the invisibility is one power. A lot of invisible supers are depicted as being about to use their cloaking ability to create force fields. The Invisible girl from Fantastic Four for example.
There's a thing called "hero syndrome" where fire fighters start fires so they can get credit for putting them out and nurses unplug people from life support so they can "save" the coding person and get accolades.
It’s sad to imagine that all the heroes who were some of Bob’s friends all just wanted to relive their glory days just like he did. Frozone’s line of “I don’t see anyone from the old days Bob. Just you.” is a lot darker now.
Honestly, that's the darkest time how things are, especially the fact that they were killed, but there were some hero's left, like in incredibles 2

The superhero genocide scene fits so well with almost anything that can be meme'd 😂
49:07 best tangent/comedic timing right there
49:30 49:36
This was the first Pixar film to get a PG rated
30:54 "NO CAPES!"🤣
The Incredibles is what people say to be Pixar's best movie. The story telling for this movie is fantastic. This movie has a perfect amount of comedy for a mostly serious film. I also respect the amount of risks this movie takes. Of course there are a lot of deaths, lots of gun violence, and even a suicide attempt early on in the movie which would not fly by Disney in 2024. It is as perfect of a movie that Pixar can get.
Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone is one of my favorite castings in a kid's movie ever.
"Honey....where's my supersuit?"
Side note: Edna Mode was inspired bya few people:
Edith Head: Who designed the costumes for Gone With The Wind and Breakfast At Tiffany's down to the iconic round glasses and bob haircut.
Anna Wintour: Editor-In-Chief of Vogue magazine with a no-nonsense attitude and flawless sense of fashion.
Iris Apfel: Fashion businesswoman known for her eccentric sense of style and bold personality.
10:23 the actor’s name is wallace shawn, he voiced Rex (Andy’s toy dinosaur)
49:30 I knew one of you would react that way! 😂😂😂❤❤❤
49:27 Calm down Jason!!! U getting it everywhere
"You keep trying to pick a fight but quite frankly i'm still just happy you're alive." Idk why i love that so much. Its so real
its weird how out of the three kids...only one has a power that seems to stem from one of the parents
Jack Jack has a lot of powers
Violet can make forcefields and turn invisible
but Dash...he has super speed, which relates to the muscles in his legs...its just super strength but legs
Super legs is sadly elastagirls' power soooooo
59:44 WHERE'S MY SUPERSUIT!!!! That's was funny
59:49 WHERE. IS. MY. SUPERSUIT?!?!
1:07:03 Yeah so Jack Jack's powers is literally "Jack of all Trades". He can do just about anything he wants.
20 years later this is still one of the all time greatest movies ever made and one of the best films from my childhood!!
49:27 Jason’s the goat
30:59 If something is strong enough to throw Superman around by his cape, he has far worse things to worry about 😂
Syndrome has the be the most scariest Villian in history, cause he wiped out more hero’s quickly than anyone else
It distracts from the now."
Also, the next movie for sure to put on your watchlist is Corpse Bride. You're gonna love the jokes and personality in this one.
Let's go! My favorite Pixar movie! I also can't stop laughing at the famous "Where is my SUPERSUIT?!?!?" 🤣🤣 Also, the sequel is just as good!
36:09
Man I never thought about this
So many details that go unspoken
And the time bomb at the beginning of the movie it's symbolic
My favorite Pixar movie, next to Monsters Inc.
Mr incredible training montage and Edna's dialogue is just classic
You guys are gonna love part 2, Elastigirl is the main protagonist in that one. Part 1 definitely gave me the biggest nostalgia hit
How the powers work with the two parents-
It was actually headcannoned by fans (me included) for decades since the sequel didn't come out til ages later.
~~
As for Violet, the invisibility is one power.
The family montage music is always a vibe
Also, the origin score for canny and uncanny Mr. Incredible videos
what i love about this movie that i don't have a special character as my favorite, cause they all are
i really like that effect yall put when the audio stops
The villains name referred to a condition know as hero-syndrome
49:25 I KNEW you were gonna moan there hahaha. Not surprising
If yall like this one, you’ll love the second one!!!
1:05:19 those old men are Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, from disney's original 9 old men.
You can’t say it’s the first time if you haven’t seen it in a minute you’ve still seen it
Faster than sonic is a wild statement to make
41:47 Lmao they were friends. 🤣🤣
49:56 not on camera lil bro
