Finished my short throw install today! Did it on jackstands in my garage solo and boy that was rough haha. Couldn't of done it without the help of this video!
I came across this video trying to see if there was a better way to switch the shift knob cap on my car. (To factory carbon fiber option) Taking out the shift boot is extremely difficult, the tabs don’t come out easily at all and the boot/bezel tend to get scratched. Is it easier to take off the shift knob assembly by taking off the whole bezel or by taking off just the boot?
Good video. It's probably worth putting in Creative Steel bushings at the time of the install (both ends of linkage). Your new shifter looks identical to the one in my '16 ATS-V. It was pretty tight for about 60,000 miles, but at 68,000 miles, it's ridiculously loose side to side. I bought a new OE shifter since there's also a little slop in the pivot ball. Lots of V shifters were replaced under warranty, so it seems to be a common issue. What was the part # of the kit? I bought 24279884 for about $300 (over $500 list price), and I don't think I got the extra parts.
You need to get the blacked out taillights and 3rd brake or go on bigwormgraphix.com and put tint on them. The car's already badass that would look killer on that white car. I like your videos you're more hands on when modding your car than the other guys down in the Harrisburg area lol.
at 3:34, see that plastic ring around the boot and loops on top of the shifter? Do you keep that on or is it just for shipping? My stock shifter doesn't have that and it seems perfectly cut out groove for it on the black boot
I could be wrong but i think my 2018 redline 2ss came factory with that... it has the gm performance badge under the hood from the factory. And your shift pattern looked identical to mine as far as distance goes.
So GM says a two hour install. How long did it take you and Westy? One thing is for sure, it's obviously a frigg'n project. Maybe your next purchase should be a Vette. No lift necessary for a short throw install. lol Good luck with it and enjoy.

I love the obligatory open header startup. When you take the exhaust off, you gotta do it, every time. It's an unwritten rule.
Wow a lot of work for just a little shorter throw, I just put a pistol grip shifter that fit down lower and you grab it from the side.
are you going to post a review of the shifter. Being only a 6% reduction I doubt it makes a worth wile difference.

not on a SS, only 18%

It really doesn’t look like it reduced it much at all. Does Barton or meg not make anything for this platform??
Is this the same shifter on 1le and zl1? Or beyond that?
