“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.” - Robin Williams
I have been wondering why so many people seem to be depressed and how to solve it. It seem to be so many something must be wrong with society as a whole. This interpretation makes sense, and more people should hear it. But I think there could be many other causes as well
@@zakosist Depression is caused by any of, a mix of, or all of: Our own lack of logic, poor decisions, plain bad luck, life just doing it's thing at times we can't stop, and rapid structural changes to society since the industrial revolution & WW2. It's far too lengthy to go into in a comment, or even a comments section. I should probably write a PhD on it and go straight to PhD without even going to University. All I'll do now is leave you with some choice quotes and a relevant video. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst" - often cited to Aurelius, but no clear evidence. Possibly Disraeli. "Who is my Master? He who decides what I do or do not like" - Epictetus who was born a slave, then became the most sought out Philosopher and teacher of his time in ancient Greco-Rome "Obsessively hating your enemies is like you drinking poison, and expecting them to die" - often attributed to Buddha, no clear evidence. Maya Angelou, others. "We are more often frightened and pained than we are harmed" - Seneca "Man suffers as much as he believes he does" - Seneca. Not an absolute truth, if you're in a truly nasty situation your suffering is indeed valid. "If you're going through Hell, the best course of action is keep going through" "Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong" - Sir Winston Churchill - a very mixed character, did some terrible things, great things, pithy quotes. Also terrible at maths! "Don’t depend too much on anyone in this world because even your own shadow leaves you when you are in darkness" - Ibn Taymiyyah. A lot of his other views are *distinctly* 1300s. However, that is a great quote indeed! "Be Water" - Bruce Lee's philosophy massively oversimplified "What stands in the way becomes the way." - Aurelius ua-cam.com/video/MF7RzKFMuT4/v-deo.html "Desire is a contract that you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want” - Naval Ravikant "Building castles in the sky, requires you have both feet firmly on the ground" - not sure, maybe one of mine? Can't find it on a search "Making the world a better place, is a marathon, not a sprint" - The Horseshoe Party UK, though I possibly nicked it from somewhere, cannot find it on a search. "At one extreme of the Horseshoe of Morality is being so selfish you get in your own way, harm yourself, other people, and society. The other extreme, is so selfless, you get in your own way, harm yourself, other people, and society, by being an easily dominated and manipulated doormat" - The Horseshoe Party UK "Self-Interest is perfectly normal. Ourselves is all we'll ever really know, and not that well at that. Try not to go out of your way to screw other people over for no good reason or even because your emotions tell you it's ok. Be kind, but not a doormat" - The Horseshoe Party UK "Strive for perfection, do not throw TANTRUMS if you cannot achieve it or receive it, if absolutely necessary and there is no other way, accept the lesser evil" - The Horseshoe Party UK "The saying "where there is a will there is a way", is not accurate, often unhelpful, and can even encourage delusion. However, "without will, the ways will never be found" is more accurate and helpful" - The Horseshoe Party UK
in most cases, depression is the feeling that things you desire will never happen, there's no hope, there's no point to go on. but for many people, what they desire is to be somebody, to have their identity, their worth validated, eventho that identity is just a character they created for themselves.
I've suffered from clinical depression most of my life. I've been to dozens of therapists. Not one of them ever illuminated my feelings so beautifully. Thank you Jim for your inspiration and caring enough to reach out!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Don't be hard with yourself, God manifests on many forms, so many F forms. Idk what the hell I'm trying to tells you. Just look around, something that maybe you are no looking, something maybe there that's love you. Hug to you, brother.
The only therapy that worked for my depression was when my physician in the 90's Dr. David McFarland told me that the solution was in Christ. That is a rare situation. Therapists are just people reciting from a book that has no foundation in the Truth. I hope you have found comfort in The Word, because I sure did.
I fell apart more than 50 years ago and I went back home to my parents and slept for two years, fixing myself, very painful and lonely times. I now have been practicing Falun Dafa, based upon Buddhist tradition, for 20 years, wonderful.
My mind was blown 🤯 when he said that so many people choose a path based on fear disguised as practicality. This is something that I've been doing my entire life! And it took this speech to make me realize that! I will never forget those words. Very powerful.
Bless you. It took me 38 years to feel like an adult. I remember the moment. I remember when I finally became a free person. It has been seven years. I am so happy. Go forward, not backwards.❤️
After observing Comedians for 79 years, I've learned that the reason the really good ones can make you laugh is because they understand what makes you cry. Truly wise men that rarely let you see the tears inside. Thank you Mr. Carrey, for the hours of laughter for the world to relax and simply enjoy the moment without the weight of life/the world on our shoulders! Blessings to you sir, Live long & Prosper.
@@psycronizer: LOL! No my new friend; it works. Blessings upon you. Yes, it really happens, but you must open your heart and your mind and your eyes will be opened. Why else would we be here? Are we here just to die?
"Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character that you've been trying to play." That sentence alone gave me an entirely different view of my depression. I went through severe depression from my mid-teens through my late 20s. I still have it, but its nowhere near what it was. I never took meds or anything for it. I just kinda... survived it. Though now I'm realizing that I'd been "playing a character" the entire time and the depression was my body's response to hating who I was pretending to be. I'm realizing that the reason I've been able to come out of it and feel better is bc I'm not pretending to be a character for people anymore. I've been able to finally be myself. Thanks for that, Jim.
It definitely is a great way to view depression. Trying to live up to societal standards. I don’t know you and how you found this video but good job on getting out of harsh depression.
Not sure I understand the whole "body needs to be depressed thing." If someone is injured and needs a cane to walk for example, we would not say they need to limp around and suffer? Maybe I'm missing the point. Other than that, glad to hear u are feeling better!
@@mariemerchel2508 well the way I see it, what he means is that deppression is a way of your mind to heal and let you know that something is wrong, that all the masks we wear and the socially accepted standards we live our lives to. Same like pain let's us know something is wrong with our body... Pain is not the problem , and most cases painkillers are only means to delay so think depression is need of change, or more accurately to find yourself again, remember who you were as a child before you got corrupted and influenced by the world around you
@@endrywnf You really got me thinking, thanks. Moreover, it would be like saying Mr. Carey should give all his money away and live in a cardboard box, do u really think that would make his depression better and/or is necessary? I simply don't think so.
Wow Jim!!! I love this! I saw a quote that applies and has helped me: “You’re not scared of the dark, you’re afraid of what’s in it. You’re not afraid of heights, you’re afraid of falling. You’re not afraid of people, you’re afraid of people around you, you’re afraid of rejection. You’re not afraid to love, you’re afraid of not being loved back. You’re not afraid to let go, you’re just afraid to the reality to accept the reality that it’s gone. You’re not afraid to try again, you’re afraid of getting hurt for the same reason”. Thank you for the share! ♥️
But fear is not all bad, fear helps you survive. And if there is no fear, what will be in return - arrogance, hubris, impudence, recklessness and madness!🙄😎🤓
Yes. Please live your remaining days with courage. And don't look back with regret. Find some joy and build upon it with other things. It will bring you to a better place and you can then view the regrets as a necessary step to get to where you are today. That's how I view the painful parts of my childhood. We're all broken in different ways.
The most profound moment in this conversation is when he's delivering his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. The audience is laughing----most of them----and either ignoring or not realizing that he's revealing that most broken part of himself. Mr. Carey is not really talking about the awards. It takes personal courage to do that publicly.
Yea that was an astounding revelation he was pouring out into that crowd and they were simply not hearing it. What an incredible man. People think he's crazy. I think he''s one of the most sane and (as much as I hate using this word) "woke" people on the planet.
Most were laughing because they saw themselves in that statement too. They knew that was true, and most people don't want to see yearning for recognition as a major motivation in their life.
When I heard that crowd laughing, not being quiet and thoughtful, it made me sad. Sad, that people either are unable to hear AND understand the profound thoughts from Jim Carey because they believe it to be some comedic act, OR because they have to cover their own devastation with laughter over how they all are still in the rat race to prove to themselves their own worth by claiming prizes from the world.
The poignant message there, was not really a sad revelation - I feel that it was a moment of complete recognition, that he was so detached from the thousands, if not millions he was addressing. He then probably realised, he knew something that the audience just didn't get; while using that particular anecdote - albeit sad, I believe it was probably equally comforting. Akin to a mountaineer, reaching the summit and warning those on the way up, that it might not actually be worth the effort.... "Vanity is rife, people should really take a long hard look in the mirror...."
Jim, I don't know if you will ever read this. Sure, I'm a fan like a million other people - maybe a billion. I just wanted to say that it is extremely beautiful how you talk about your father. I want an incredible person you are in so humble. I have learned a lot from you watching this video. Shout out to the UA-camr that made this because I needed to hear this today. Thank you, sincerely.
@@chevy3596 I like it but every once in a blue moon your fear comes true, and that’s the problem because it happened once, people think their fears will always come true. And sometimes it’s wise to be practical such as when choosing MPG over horsepower when buying a car. Or buying the 115rwhp motorcycle over the 180rwhp motorcycle.

I have always been a huge fan of Jim Carey and raised my now adult children watching his movies over and over. I have a 30 year old son with autism who would reenact scenes from his movies from start to finish and could not stop until he had acted out the entire scene. Many times I was pulled out of movies or dinners to get him out of the mens room where he was kicking his ass and beating himself up. A few years ago, I got rid of my Tv and stopped watching movies and traded it for books, podcasts and meditation. After listening to his book, I decided to watch the Jim and Andy show, and I thought.. I wish that I could tell him how much joy and love and happiness he has brought into my life and the lives of my children over the past 25 years. How many times he has pulled me from the depths of hell with his humor and how I couldn’t have made it through my life with his medicine of laughter. I have so much gratitude for you Jim, and I would love to say, that if you are ever feeling sad or lonely, please think of me, and remember how many lives you have affected and changed and inspired. How many people you have brought joy and laughter to simply by being you. There are no words to express the gratitude that I feel for you, and I hope that one day, I can give you a hug, and tell you how you have changed my life for the best. Thank you!!
Thank you for posting this is so beautiful and I agree Jim Carrey has done so many wonderful things to make people happy from nothing more than his desire to bring a vast silliness to the world to still the fears and pretensions of all of us and bring much needed laughter so we can forget our problems for a while.
"Because then I would be enough". What a powerful and sad statement that is. So many of us spend part, if not all, of our lives trying to be "enough". Trying to meet someone else's expectations of us. I'm almost 70, more time behind me than in front of me and I've finally decided to to live MY life, not someone else's version of what my life should be. Feels pretty darn good. God bless you.
I don’t think that’s exactly what was the point of this carefully edited video…. There appears to be a total absence of recognition (at least in these edited clips) that we must be fully aware of spiritual GOOD (God) vs. spiritual Bad (Satan). I already said this in another comment - but I think it bears repeating; There’s many, many people who believe & do very bad, very evil things as they “fearlessly follow their true self” For example, Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, (I could go on with 1000’s more) Our visions, and/or expectations for ourselves must be measured against a good spiritual standard. Otherwise, we’re just fooling ourselves…
This man has literally been in my entire childhood and has been my most favorite actor since I can remember. I have so much respect for this amazing human being. Thank you Jim Carrey for being the way you are.

Wonderful wonderful experience of a soul embracing himself and his journey. Great wisdom being achieved here! Bravo Mr. Carrey and thanks for sharing your truths!
Carey, much like Keanu Reeeves, is existing in a much higher field of consciousness than most of his contemporaries in Hollyweird. He very obviously “gets it”! He’s done the hard work, like many of us regular folk- and has gained tremendous inner standing. Welcome to the fold, Jim, good to see someone who has reached global recognition, share his hard earned insights from experiencing enlightenment; and he’s not fearful about sharing it with the world.
That's the ultimate dream..........Sharing something of TRUE value with the world. He's so fortunate to have a platform to share it from. People like me wonder if we are somehow "unworthy" to share in a similar way, feeling "unused" as we are only able to share love and universal truths to "one person at a time".
Omg that speech at the end, I presume some award ceremony. His words were so poignant yet everyone thought he was joking 😳 he literally admitted that he used to think that awards and recognition would fill some hole in his heart and now he knows they won't. It's not a joke
I like Keanu Reeves far more. He doesn't feel the need to get involved in politics and tell people they're wrong. Not to mention all the kindness he's showed to fellow humans, and his obvious humility. He's got a lot of reasons to be spiteful, with all that he's lost, but he remained a good person through all of it.
@@TheNonEdibleCheese Not saying Keanu isn't all these things. But the media influence who is deemed nice or not in Hollywood. How much you make yourself available for interviews, how many influential friends they have and how their PR is shapes the narrative of how the media want you to think of this person. So if some in the media don't like a celebrity, they will dig up dirt on them and make them look bad, whereas the same from a celebrity they like, they won't report. Some get an armchair ride and some get the bucket poured over them. This then shapes the public's opinion, as many rely on media to know celebrities, so they take a media person's opinion to someone as the truth. Keanu may be a nice guy, or he might just be presented that way. Unless you actually get to know a person, you can't really judge them.

Humbling? He scolds and mocks people he disagree with. Not in a funny way, but he can be very condescending if you have different opinion or political color than him.
@@TinusTegenlicht Well, he'll have to deal with the consequences of his actions, like the rest of us. I'm English so I obviously don't follow his recent or political stuff from across the pond but if he's anything like the elites in the UK, Europe and the US then I've no interest in his opinions or leftie ideologies.
Wisdom comes through many voices! As in Jim Carrey’s words: “… you will only ever have two choices, love or fear. Choose love. And don’t ever let fear turn you against your playful heart.” Thank you Jim Carrey❣️💞👏🏼

Forced socialisation is having to work with toxic people who you wouldn't want in your life given a choice, I now work with people who aren't like that. Thank you, Jim, for saying such kind things about your father. In a world where dads are hated and picked clean by everyone, you showed that dads can be so deeply loved and honored. He's so lucky to have you as a son.
I hope my daughter feels the same as He does. My wife and I have a rare opportunity to raise her in an unbroken home and I spend every second I can teaching her and helping her find herself. She inspires me everyday and I hope I can give her the tools and perspective to be a truly happy person, regardless of the path she carves out of life. I'm extremely grateful for my life. Not everyone gets to be in this scenario and I do my damnedest to make sure that my wife and daughter know how grateful I am to be a part of their lives everyday. No matter how much stuff I have or money I make, absolutely nothing would replace the happiness I feel on a daily basis. I legitimately can say that I've never been happy before in comparison. I hope that everyone finds this perspective in life. It's a truly amazing feeling to be able to differentiate between bad a good days instead of them being so similar they blend together in this bad/worse day mentality.
Dads are loved in this word. Sperm donators not so much. I’m a dad and I’ve never even had anyone try to make me feel bad for it! Just be there for your kids
I see my father as the most amazing person a man could ever be. I lost him a few years ago, and I still talk to him every day. And you have a very valid point, it’s sad but so many men who have been sperm donors never become fathers, dads, or even family. And when the ones that really do, do it so well, make sure you realize it.
I love how at the end of it, he says "because then I would be enough" and everybody just laughed ... So sad, I don't think that anybody actually LISTENED to what he was saying. I think he is hugely motivational. My favorite comedian/actor/"celebrity" (whatever you'd call it) because he's not afraid to talk about the shit that's hard, the shit that hurts. He is not afraid to tell anybody that the shit means nothing, it's all bullshit that we tell ourselves to make it seem like the world as we know it is not this fake existence that's ruled by people who are leaching off the rest of us. It's sad. But at least there's somebody who isn't afraid to speak the truth. He is an inspiration and I wish that his voice stretched a little further than it does, more people need to hear this man's words. For sure.
what's really sad is that we continue to seek wisdom from the rich, the elite. now that's sad. if these people really had anything to offer in making a better world we'd have a better world ALREADY! because rich people control everything! they've had over 6000 years to end human created human misery. they can make a better world ANYTIME thet want. but they choose not to. they choose to horde more wealth for themselves and excercise any privilege their wealth offers them. STOP WORSHIPPING THE RICH! they're the problem. not the solution!

You’re right. They aren’t able to comprehend his way of thought. And in Hollywood they all seem to live in a dream all day. I cannot say they do, or don’t. But that place is so full of facade it’s hard to even tell what is real or not. Jim’s a real man. He tells it like it is, and most of those people cannot do that. And as such cannot understand it either.
I loved Jim so much as a kid. I used to dress up like Ace Ventura and collected all his films. But now, as an adult, I can see such a deep man and I appreciate him even more.
Yes definitely he is loved by so many people. I know as a child his family lived in a car and just knowing how much he loved his father by watching this video, made me love him even more. His father lit up his world and now he's lighting up our world just like his dad

When Robin Williams passed I was heartbroken. In true cinematic fashion I had grown up with him all my life and connected not only with the characters he played but the person he often represented during the "real" moments. His legacy as a stand up comedian, sit-com giant, dramatic actor and person with a heart was only matched by Jim. The similarities bettween both were often mind blowing for me. The funnest guys to grace the screen in my life, also the most incredible dramatic actors and truly every time the person that shined through those characters was somone who was not afraid of being vulnerable that showed a true love for people and life. There's not a damn thing Jim hasn't done that I haven't stood in awe at the realness of what he brought to it.
Was going write things, but you've suddenly made me quiet, so a thumbs up. Suffice it to say, I still grieve him even though I know it's the last thing Robin would want; that wasn't his mission.

God I love this man! He speaks so much truth through pain and immense suffering. He totally gets “the meaning of life.” No one wants to hear the truth because it’s ugly but he expresses it through his incredibly gifted words and art. We need more introspective people who are not only empathetic but share this message with others. Humanity is lost but can be found again but only through love. Thank you Jim!
I love this guy just as I love Robin Williams. The difference is I realise how much I appreciate him while he is still among us. A lesson learned the hard way.
I'm not sure I could be part of the crowd that was laughing at the end of that speech. It's like his smile gave them permission not to take what he was saying as fully genuine and heartfelt sincerity. When Jim is trying to be funny, it's in his smile, he's funny, and he's so funny! When he's trying to be serious, it's in his eyes, and he's so serious, even with a smile.
To be honest... I think he KNEW the crowd would not/did not understand... and he just sarcastically said what he said... maybe with the hope that some would get it, but yet not expecting that they would....
@@forger9443 Jim knew that they would "get it". You and I got it, why not them. The truth is often funny because it's the truth and people often hide the truth. They laughed because they get it. They are all very intelligent people.
I read of a preacher that was a guest speaker at a conference. He got up to speak some very serious and personal words, and the audience kept laughing. He was puzzled by the reaction, as his message was a very sobering message. When he concluded, he expressed to the man putting on the conference his confusion at such a frivolous reaction to a very solemn message. The gentleman explained to the preacher that there had been an error in the printing of the agenda for the night and the preacher had been put in the spot where a comedian had been scheduled to speak. Therefore, since the audience was expecting a comedian, they had prepared their hearts to be entertained and failed to grasp the sobering message given by the preacher. People have been accustomed to being entertained and amused by Mr. Carry, therefore, as you say, they may have missed his serious message. The word "amuse" means without thought. The book AMUSING OURSELVES TO DEATH explains how we have many means with which to occupy ourselves and distract us from what truly matters, to keep us from thinking. The main thing these amusements do is keep us from this truth, it is appointed unto man once to die, then after that THE JUDGMENT. We do not want to face the truth that there is GOD and we must all give an account to Him. Jesus Christ came the first time as a humble servant to save sinners. The next time He is coming as a Judge. Folks do not desire to retain the knowledge of God, therefore they suppress the truth in unrighteousness, and that suppression comes mainly through amusement.
His reflection has given him the ability to realize that his problems are the same as most people’s. He is a human being who comes with all the characteristics and quirks that come with that. His talents and quirks have put him in the spotlight and have made him stand out among the rest of us.
When he says “and then I’d be enough, I could finally stop this” he was being genuine. I love Jim especially when he was at the awards ceremony and was asked why he was walking around outside and replied “ I wanted to find the most ridiculous thing to do so I came here”
yeah it shocks me how stupid people are and how things just fly over their heads. The speech was serious and heart felt but people are so used to him being the funny guy they laugh even when he's not trying to be funny. They were laughing but i almost wanted to cry for him. He's clearly been through alot and never got over his dads death which is how it is when you loose some someone you truly love. Like loosing a part of you you'll never get back. Jim's sense of humor to make people laugh is his coping mechanism for the deep rooted pain and mental torment he can't bear. That's literally what he was saying. It's very lonely and makes matters worse when nobody gets you.
@@Spocklee you got that on the head!! People are just so blind to so many things. When you have been through similar experiences you feel it to a degree that many could never begin to comprehend. You know exactly what he’s saying
@@bwoodgameon79 I believe he did want to fool others, making it appear he was doing a comedy act, while actually being very serious. What a hell of a way to convey a message.
"And don't worry if you miss your cue, because there's allways doors opening. They keep opening." That one hit me like a bus. I needed this. Thank you, Jim. Edit: spelling
Important words, of course, but I think they meant "your CUE", not "your QUEUE", the moment someone (metaphorically of course) points at you and says "Go. It's your turn."
I needed this too, I finally have gone after my dreams of being a fiction fantasy story writer. I have felt, worried about how long I had waited, and all the opportunities I let go by me before, because I've been afraid. Well, I don't know what's going to happen. I have a publishing company that liked my synopsis on the first book I've written from a novel series I've started, I'm just waiting on the editing to be completed in the coming weeks. Jim's words here are quite inspiring to hear. Thank you Jim.

This is so profound and particularly poignant to me. I am 52 and I was diagnosed with cancer this week. I am so scared. My husband and I just celebrated our 26th anniversary and I have an 11 year old daughter that I adopted at birth (because we couldn't have children and we weren't even trying to adopt because we knew we couldn't afford it but we're approached by a friend of a friend and through a lot of prayers and help we made it happen) and she is the best thing that has ever happened to us, we adore her. We just moved from Oregon (we were all born there and my husband and I were raised there) because we wanted our daughter to have her own home in a quiet and safe town (when we left Oregon someone had found syringes and heroin buried in the playground and we decided that was enough) so we took a giant leap out of love and bought our first home in rural South Dakota (we love it and our daughter is thriving with her entire 6th grade glass comprising of 6 kids). And all I have thought this week is we have worked so hard and taken this huge leap and now this. I have been so extremely sad but what Jim has said is so true. Taking that leap out of love for our daughter and leaving the fear behind is the right thing to do. It has paid off. I am going to do the same with this cancer. Thank you Jim
I don’t know who you are but I’m truly touched and if I was near you now I would put my arms around you and your family . I hope you get the care and support you need. My sister got cancer and beat it back and it’s changed her life for the better and hopefully yours too xxx On last thing maybe I can help you by way showing telling you go to your local Freemasons and ask for anything you need write to them. Here in the UK 🇬🇧 we would help a family going through this . And Yes I am a Freemason and where here for people.
I have always admired him for his talent. He now makes me admire him for his humanity and compassion.A beautiful soul who can share his experiences in a way that makes you stop and think deeply
I made so many decisions based on fear and called it practicality, he is speaking truth. I am turning 59 at the end of this year and can say there is so much I could of done that I didn't. I did give my whole life to my children and Husband and that has given me joy, but I do wish I would of traveled more and found another passion besides being a mother and grandmother.
I saw this i am your age I travelled and have no kids, I travelled and worked abroad when young the best ever thing to do ....but I always think what would of my kids look like... but death is a horible thing thats why i never had children ....
It’s never too late to fulfill unrealised dreams. I am 66 mother of 2 , grandmother of 2 , love them dearly , but they must live out their dreams. I have new stories to share with them when I return from my adventures.
When I watch Jim Carrey I don't want to stop hearing his life story. He's as genuine and benevolent as they come. What a great example for us to follow!

Jim Carrey always loved him. Not only did he make me laugh, but I knew there was something deeper to him. Ive suffered from depression. A long time, I probably did since I was a child. Now I'm 60 the choices I've made in the past 20 years. Weren't not always so good. But based on my depression, loved hearing what you had to say about Hollywood and even himself and his love for his father and what a talent, Hollywood was. Lucky to have him and I'm glad he's walked away from these idiots. What an intelligent man kind and loving........Choose ❤️ love!!!
My favorite actor since I was 4 years old, the man who always makes me laugh and cheers me up when I'm down. I had several trauma which I still need to heal from, and because of my emetophobia I'm in constant fear. Since I've been 11 years old I had been suicidal and didn't have any reason to do something in my life except for art. When Jim Carrey started talking about his deep feelings and depression, I felt understood and not alone anymore because of the fact that a person I always looked up to was dealing with the same thoughts as me. And when he actually recognized me last year, 2021, and my art on Twitter.. that gave me the most special feeling. It still feels surreal. My hero liked something that I created and actually said if I'm near I shall come and say hello to him. I'm focused on living right now like I've never been before in my entire life. That man is my lifesaver and I can't wait for the day I'll meet him in person.
I hope you are careful about your thoughts, and, personally, Neville Goddard's teaching has been totally and completely magnificent. Wishing you self-love and inner peace.
True right? I just spent a month on the Canadian west coast, the Rockies mountains. I drove from Vancouver to Kamloops on transcanadian highway 1. It's about 4 1/2 hr drive;it took me 7. I felt so exhilarated even if I've been to the Rockies so often, I was in another world. I was driving alone, no music, nothing to distract my heart and soul. I'm not a selfie person, so I skipped those and just connected so deeply with nature. The moment is marked in my heart. Nothing beat that.
After his girlfriend died of a drug overdose on drugs he gave her, this man turned tragic. He started saying crazy, outlandish things that made him seem rather psychotic. Then he started a personal hobby of painting President Trump with a turd in his mouth in different poses and everyone knew he had lost it. However, when you cut and paste individual sentences from his ramblings into something almost coherent like this video did, it does make him seem rather poignant.
I love Jim Carrey's wisdom and ability to make so much sense and make people question their entire sense of self and existence, while also making them laugh and feel less shitty about themselves while doing so. Because he's essentially using himself as an example for what every other person goes through in life themselves, yet we rarely ever stop to truly address the absurdity of it all and point it out and he's basically saying "It's okay. I get it. We all get it. We can laugh about how ridiculous it all is and accept it and be better" I resonate with so much of what he talks about. I try to live by the same principles of understanding life and trying to exist in this world without losing myself to the pointless pressure that forces us all to wear masks and lose our individualities and hearts in some confusing struggle to find purpose and place and meaning. It's true that he says that thoughts are the true enemy when not channeled properly. A thought only has as much power as you give to it and you can become a slave to feeding them constantly. It is, however, very hard to stick to what you know deep down is the right way to live, unburdened of unnecessary self-imposed stresses and anxieties and stick to the true values of self-acceptance and self-love, and appreciation in its truest form, untainted by external influence or pressure. I do often falter and the influences do leak in every so often, but I also accept that too, because I'm human just like everyone else and nobody is perfect. People are naturally flawed and to falter and make mistakes and learning to build a constantly improving version of yourself on top of all of the mistakes is the only natural way to go through life and have a greater understanding and appreciation for it.
I am 85 and have beaten up on myself for most of those years, continuing the battering that was constant my first 30 years. Now the pieces are falling into place, I see how I found the path to loving ALL of my life - even me! Freedom is never too late. I love my life. Puny, gimpy, scabby and garrelous- I am all the best side kick geysers plus I am a sweetheart! GLORY!
That “external pressure” is ALL from the world, which is completely run by the devil < And is magnified 10x by modern media. God had NO intentions of our short time on earth being like this!
Wow, he is amazing. His quote hit me. “You can fail at what you don’t want, so at least take a chance and do what you really want.” I feel I chose a stable job for my family so they could have a life. At 66, I wish I took a chance. Well, at least my son is living my dream. Mentorship is vital in people’s lives.

Instead of thinking about becoming a millionaire we should be teaching people fiscal responsibility. Live below your means, invest for retirement, have 3-6 month emergency fund, save for your children’s college, pay off your mortgage (unless interest if less than 4%). Only when you have met these requirements then take risks in the stock market.
Fiscal responsibility is crucial, but it's also important to seize opportunities for financial growth. While building savings, investing for retirement, and maintaining an emergency fund are essential, the stock market, when approached with caution and risk management, can help build wealth. It's about balancing caution with taking calculated risks to grow financially, with diversification playing a key role

As someone who has struggled with depression, self loathing and an extreme anxiety for the future and making the wrong choices this video feels extremely important to me.
I have a lot of time for Jim Carrey, such a funny individual genius of a man, but he has such a serious mind and his thoughts and philosophy is worth listening to. A great individual, I have so much respect for him.
He remind me of Charlie Chaplin in that regards. Except that Chaplin had to be so much braver to be outspoken back then. But, most comedians are empaths. They’re the kid who grows up in a sad home and develop serious levels depression squeezing themselves almost out of existence simply trying to be mediators. Their concern is a matter of “the greater good.” They’re the philosophers most of us, actually like listening to. They laugh so they won’t cry. Wow! Some of the things he says in this video really struck home. That idea of dropping your pretences/defences, letting ego fall away and letting the the light shine through you. "Risk being seen". That struck a chord in me.
I act because I’m broken. We all act because we are broken. The problem is we act our way right out of who we truly are, to the point we can’t find or know who we are. Gotta stop to listen…stop and ask to be heard. Risk being seen…and heard, oh SO worth it! Choose love ❤️
He is talking to young powerful people at this moment, college graduates pumped full of ego and expectations, and all kinds of things that can get in the way of being present and self-aware and acting on one's true wants, youth with attentive eager spectators to their every action. However, that won't work for those of us older folks. Trust me, I have tried it. There needs to be an inverse speech to those of graduating "out of life". Dress well, be in shape, look younger than you are, reserve your true opinions, listen to others when you would rather speak or walk away, ha ha.

Depression for me has been a withdraw from abuse, even if you don't know you were abused, completely drained of dopamine.
in most cases, depression is the feeling that things you desire will never happen, there's no hope, there's no point to go on. but for many people, what they desire is to be somebody, to have their identity, their worth validated, eventho that identity is just a character they created for themselves.

But fear is not all bad, fear helps you survive. And if there is no fear, what will be in return - arrogance, hubris, impudence, recklessness and madness!🙄😎🤓
but you were taught & conditioned to be this way by the society you were born into, that fear wasn't in u as a baby!
"Fear disguised as practicality" - my whole life summed up in four words. This man is brilliant.
He definitely struck a chord with those college graduates. Seems relatable.
Probably the one line in the whole video that resonated the most to me. That really hit home. So true
Yes. Please live your remaining days with courage. And don't look back with regret. Find some joy and build upon it with other things. It will bring you to a better place and you can then view the regrets as a necessary step to get to where you are today. That's how I view the painful parts of my childhood. We're all broken in different ways.
@@jm7804 Very true. But if you put broken things together, a new and surprising picture can appear.
Same.
🙏🕊️❤️🙏
The most profound moment in this conversation is when he's delivering his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. The audience is laughing----most of them----and either ignoring or not realizing that he's revealing that most broken part of himself. Mr. Carey is not really talking about the awards. It takes personal courage to do that publicly.
Yea that was an astounding revelation he was pouring out into that crowd and they were simply not hearing it. What an incredible man. People think he's crazy. I think he''s one of the most sane and (as much as I hate using this word) "woke" people on the planet.
For reals. Sounded like he was trying to say that chasing his 3rd Golden Globe (validation) was keeping him up at night.

I always wondered why Jim Carrey seemingly disappeared from Hollywood…now I realize that he has just moved on to bigger and better things.
Yes....and hopefully soon....some "Spectacular" things!! 😊🤞
Well yes. Usually things change. Its good to see that happening and going with it instead fighting against it. And everybody is different.
I never doubted he was a good guy. Glad I was right
Well said Kim
He can never be full of himself.
Thank you!!
Thank you for sharing this with us. You too touched my heart You too are Loved.
Thank you for posting this is so beautiful and I agree Jim Carrey has done so many wonderful things to make people happy from nothing more than his desire to bring a vast silliness to the world to still the fears and pretensions of all of us and bring much needed laughter so we can forget our problems for a while.
"You can fail at what you don't want". Wow, there are some real gems in this video...
So you might as well try what you want. 👏
Your need for acceptance can leave you invisible in this world …. Powerful stuff
I have to say, I've never been a big Jim Carrey fan, but I have to say, that was a Great Speech
I don't like some of his movie roles, but he's an amazing person
I hate that son of a gun, but he’s got a point.
"Because then I would be enough". What a powerful and sad statement that is. So many of us spend part, if not all, of our lives trying to be "enough". Trying to meet someone else's expectations of us. I don’t think that’s exactly what was the point of this carefully edited video….
There appears to be a total absence of recognition (at least in these edited clips) that we must be fully aware of spiritual GOOD (God) vs. spiritual Bad (Satan). I already said this in another comment - but I think it bears repeating; There’s many, many people who believe & do very bad, very evil things as they “fearlessly follow their true self” For example, Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, (I could go on with 1000’s more)
Our visions, and/or expectations for ourselves must be measured against a good spiritual standard. Otherwise, we’re just fooling ourselves…
THANK YOU!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 YES! This truth is missing from this carefully edited video.

Of all the characters Hollywood has produced, Jim Carey is the only one that I can truly respect. He speaks from his heart and not from a script.
I agree...Keanu Reeves also deserves a spot up there too

And then he makes this awful new Matrix film... In my opinion they just ruined everything the 3 movies build up....

Some people say he's still alive, just saying. I don't know.
Was going write things, but you've suddenly made me quiet, so a thumbs up. Suffice it to say, I still grieve him even though I know it's the last thing Robin would want; that wasn't his mission.
@@JWolff-md3ij Thank you J and I agree, he wouldn’t. That in and of itself speaks volumes. He was a unique human being and I still do as well.

I think the crowd got it. They're all insecure; He knows.
He was looking to see who was woke and who’d get it. Like you are saying now.
Jim Carrey needs a show about this depression. I think his take on it is an out of body experience looking within. So spot on.

I've come to have enormous respect for Jim. I really enjoyed listening to this.
I wish you strength, and love.

Your wish has been fulfilled.
It’s never too late to fulfill unrealised dreams. I am 66 mother of 2 , grandmother of 2 , love them dearly , but they must live out their dreams. I have new stories to share with them when I return from my adventures.

Praying for you
I hope you are careful about your thoughts, and, personally, Neville Goddard's teaching has been totally and completely magnificent.
Wishing you self-love and inner peace.
That’s AWESOME
He is right on target. People miss moments while attempting to mark the moment. Good stuff.
I think the majority don't understand, still. They have their cameras ready.
They were both in the moment taking a picture.
Not me. Everybody wonders why I really don’t have that many pictures. I do. They are in my head. I was present.
We can laugh about how ridiculous it all is and accept it and be better"
I resonate with so much of what he talks about.
At the ends of the day the guy is just a pedophile who went to Epstein's Island

I think having an investment advisor is the way to go. I've been with one because I lack the expertise for the market. I made over $490K during the recent dip, highlighting that there's more to the market than we average folks know.

He remind me of Charlie Chaplin in that regards. Except that Chaplin had to be so much braver to be outspoken back then. But, most comedians are empaths.
