Ahhh, I love the Cult. Have been listening to them since the 80s, saw them live twice in the 90s. Great band. They were very famous and on MTV starting i the late 80s into the 90s. They toured in the US a lot and are still touring. Ian still has his voice and Billy Duffy, the guitarist, is still with him. He's known as an excellent guitarist.
Guns N' Roses literally borrowed something from The Cult. Matt Sorum, the drummer in this video was GNR's drummer for 3 studio albums and several years. 🤘

This was the first single released, from the Cult's 4th album, "Sonic Temple" in 1989. It is featured on all compilation and greatest hit albums and is a favourite at live performances. Fabulous, familiar vocals and the great rock musicality with their effortless performances so much rockin fun. 🔥🔥🔥 It has been played on the closing credits for Formula 1 in Australia since 2007. This band have about a dozen fantastic tracks that didn't even make their albums - most bands struggle to make even their non-single album tracks decent, certainly after their first couple of albums.
We all thought that their album "ELECTRIC" in 1987 couldn't be beaten by THE CULT. At this stage of the game brother (1989), The Cult was lifting more from G&R than the other way around. And yes. The Cult ARE indeed legends and EVERY SINGLE album is completely different. They were heavily influenced by US hair metal and Sleaze metal at this time. With their own twist on it of course. That intro guitar sound is pure goth rock (their roots) all the way. SO MUCH great music from this band.
They had a nice run. From 85 to 91 they had 4 top 10 records in the UK and 11 top 40 songs. They weren't quite as successful in the US, but had a number of hits on the alternative and mainstream rock charts.

No one can outtsing Ian Astbury. And the fact that hes just soooo sexy.... burnnn... and dance. Has an American Indian vibe to it also

June 23 first time of you hearing this . U needed be running with me .late 80, early 90. Rock on.
Saw them open for Metallica on the Damaged Justice tour in 1989...they were awsome live. One of the best shows I have ever seen from start to finish!
That tour was my introduction to The Cult -got me from the go
I saw them for the first time in 1989 at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Dallas Texas, I did not know who they were and became an instant fan.
This song has hooks like a Def Leppard song. Grabs you, makes you crank the volume, and doesn't let you go until it's done.
I recommend “Love Removal Machine”, The Cult. Another banger.
These guys were just cool and talented….
Slash's first released track from his solo album featured Ian Astbury as the lead singer.
