Part 2 is MUST!
Why just 2, 3 too!!
I agree
especially for Asha Bhosle. I still don't think they have seen a single cabaret song of hers, which is a huge part of her entire identity as an artist
@@starsimvidz I agree. Asha taai is one of the greatest and favorite singers. So versatile and sweet ❤
I won't complain even if they do a 10 part series on all the older Hindi cinema singers. So so many gems, Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore kumar, Hemant kumar, Asha bhonsle, Geeta Dutt, Talat Mahmood, Mukesh etc etc...
@@MaryK02 they cud do a 10 part series on just lataji and it still wouldn't be 1 percent lmao
33:20 You have reacted to this song "Aapki nazro ne samjha" performed by Shreya Ghosal at Berklee. It was fantastic though. Also, its one of the greatest evergreen song in Indian music.
Shreya's rendition at Berklee is one of the best modern interpretations of this song. Shreya of course I'd superb - voice, skills, love and respect for the original and more. But the accompanists and their collaboration with Shreya elevate it to a different level
@@jaganshri i agree.. Shreya's retention of this song is my fav now..she is so clear and good that now I mostly hear this version as it has better voice quality..also because of her I have started listening some South Indian, Bengali songs too..I don't understand still love to hear them ❤️❤️
I came into the comment section to remind them that they have reacted to the same ensemble sung by Shreya at Berklee however I found this comment ❤❤, love the original version was a favourite song of my dad while the shreyas version is a favourite of mine 😅😅
Absolutely spot on about shareyas rendition of the song. The one shown in this collection God love him but he is completely butchering the song in every sense.😢😢 Is pronunciation is off his breathing is off 😢😢
@@starsimvidz see I don't compare great singers at all...as Lata ji is guru for Shreya..so both version are different for me as they both seem to have a diff style of singing... whenever Shreya gives Lata ji a tribute she does add her elements and style to the song..she doesn't copy Lata ji I'm not wrong so..I love both the versions..bt Shreya version is my fav..just my choice yr
Traditional Indian Classical music doesn't promote falsetto. Falsetto means a false sound/note, which is not allowed in Indian traditional music. It's not like they are not capable of doing that. It is because according to Indian classical falsetto is wrong. So singers don't prefer to do it, they focus on their base voice instead. 😊😊😊
Yea, Indian Classical music does not like there to be a break in the voice. And also, falsetto doesn't have the breath support required to sing classical. You cannot get that level of voice control in false range. Sunidhi is really the only singer I can think of that uses falsetto a lot (and she actually has surprisingly good vocal agility in her falsetto)....
@@starsimvidz True. Sunidhi does use falsetto.
India's obsession with Love in the Rain goes way back. Even classical sanskrit plays and ancient songs celebrate this.
It has to do with India's life patterns that revolve around the Monsoons. People (typically men at that time) would travel for work in Spring and Summer and return home for the 4 months of monsoon (chaturmaas).
Some common tropes are (i)the woman waiting for husband/ lover to return before the first rain and (ii) the joining of lovers as the first rains lash.
The relationship with climate/ weather is not so explicit in today's media, the relationship is probably forgotten. but the 'love in rain' as a theme endures
Meghdoot..The poet great Kaalidah called as a messenger of love.. मेघदूतम
Not only skill-wise, but even lyrically Bollywood was at its peak in the 1900s. And the melodies too are unmatched.
In the credits of the Jhumroo song, 'Usha' Mangeshkar is not a typo. Usha is another of Mangeshkar sisters, alongwith Lata, Asha, Meena who were all famous singers.
Kishore Kumar's voice and singing is just something else.
Mohammad Rafi Sahab was a classically trained singer who was extremely adept at bringing emotions to songs. Do check out his full classical potential in the song "Madhuban mei Radhika naache re", set in Raag Hameer. You will be surprised to see how well he can sing both light music that you reacted to in this video as well as a fully classical piece, compositions which are rarely seen nowadays.
Also o duniya ke rakhwale
Duniya ke ralhwale is based on raga darbari
The end of that song, no one can reach that note at the end not even Lata Mangeshkar
Also O duniya ke rakhwaale
The one you're mentioning ,yes it's arguably the hardest song for him
Madhubala ji always 1st love 💕
Aapki Nazron ne samjha is actually in 7/8 time signature.
In tabla a 7 beat or a 14 beat cycle is used here.
Exactly, to convert rupak (7 beats) or deepchandi (14 beats) to western music it’s more like 1 bar of 3/4 then a bar of 4/4 repeating
The conversational part of the songs between male and female was the trade mark of Indian music which i always loved..but sadly im recent times this hardly happens in the song.. music directors just want a trendy song..female parts are very less now.. mostly male parts are bigger in the songs..till 2010 i guess Indian music was at peak now sadly very few creatively good songs are made😒😒 although we have so mnay good singers..
Wow... Retro special. ❤🤟
A proper win-win situation. ✌
Kishore Kumar... My all time favorite singer. 😇
Moreover...... "Kishore Kumar- Rajesh Khanna" used to be a deadly combo. 😎
Yes when I was a kid I used to think he sings the songs and his voice suited so well😂😂
29:29 it's Madan Mohan (Music composer) and Lata Mangeshkar(Singer) Duo. The unmatched Duo when it comes to gems of Bollywood music.
Thanks for doing a video on it.
Asha could justify the song way better since she miles ahead in skills
People dont appreciate Mukesh ji enough, He is one of the greatest of all time
Bro where is mohhmad aziz, he was so good 😢, nobody even talks about him

ua-cam.com/video/wSbgIXmEClg/v-deo.htmlsi=3sGojLuEcqquIK_g
Very very underrated. In my opinion, Rafi sahab is the greatest of all time and Mukesh ji is the most underrated. One should learn how to keep things so simple and yet produce a song full of emotions from Mukesh ji. Therefore, his songs are very difficult to recreate. His songs were "SIMPLE" but not at all "EASY".
@@yashpratap7202 this is a video containing songs of 50s and 60s, Mohammad Aziz sahab was not active then
@@vedantvyas6233 if you just try to sing Mukesh Ji's song you will face more difficulty than any other singer's song..
Beauty of Rafi Saab’s singing is in his modulations. Sonu in one of his interviews says Rafi ji doesn’t sing a song, he expresses/emotes a song in each word of the lyric.
The greatest singer of all time. I'm sorry if Kishore Da's fan disagrees but he was more of a commercial singer but judging purely on singing talent, Rafi sahab is the greatest. I'm a 27 year old man and I have seen 18 year olds too getting inspired by Rafi sahab. The level of impact is immense. I can write a 1000 words essay on how Rafi sahab is the greatest singer of all time, so I should probably shut up.
@@vedantvyas6233yes it's your opinion and I also like Rafi sahab but according to me Kishore da was 100 years ahead than his generation of singers ,my nephew is just 3.5 years old and he likes to listen Kishore da songs because Kishore da songs were modern, stylish after 1987 to until now every singer just copy and want to sing like Kishore Kumar except few singers like Sonu Nigam, Javed Ali
I will not go in technical details so much but when I was kid I also got mesmerized by hearing Meet na Mila re man ka song sang by Kishore da because I thought how can any singer be so stylish, can have so masculine voice
He was the most stylish singer from old to current generation singers
When Kishore da started to sing for Devanand then it surpassed the songs popularity which was sung by Rafi sahab for Devanand
For eg Jaaneman Jaaneman title song , Kishore da sang that song with so much passion, style and romanticism that even current generation kids will also appreciate that song
There are many things to say about Kishore da time will be less ,age will be less to write about him
@@vedantvyas6233 i 1000000% agree w you man and in the words of SPB AND SONU NIGAM Rafi sahab is was and forever will be the greatest singer ever
Can't agree more....with rafi sahab you can always feel the emotions.....as if you are going through that phase
56:00 Does anyone remember Rahul Vaidya and Neeti Mohan's performance of Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar at a singing reality show...
The way he handled and lifted that performance was mind-blowing.
Yeah, how can one forget that episode? One could finish packets of popcorn watching that episode (iykyk). 😂
Having said that, yes, Rahul Vaidya did an exceptional job handling the situation during their performance. ❤
@@hritwikchakraborty5602 The fight was awesome too. 😂
The best version of Abhi na jaao chhod kar is from Shreya ji an no one else. The level of Rafi sahab and lata ji was so high that only the likes of Shreya ji can match that.
B&W Indian classics deserves more feature fridays :) So many more gems!
I can only think about Efra's long monologue on R&B after today's live😂😂
The taal for Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar is Dadra (6 beats). So probably a 3/4 in western music. It's very swingy.
Who's here after having a R&B Masterclass 😅😂
Hahahahaha you were the best chat 😂

What is it Bro , I missed it , How to Watch it
I was sweating every time a desi song got played 😂
Me! Me!
16:57 nahhh the obsession of rain mostly comes cause its so freaking hot here soo we look forward to the rain to cool it a bit😂😂😂😂😂 these songs just there to elevate our mood
I have never laughed like today during the Indian R&B steam. Great job guys. It was very nice of you to be so patient with we Indians
This one clearly deserves part 2 ☺️🫶🏻
He started yudling in my City #Indore , The Cleanest citybof India where Legendary Lata Mangeshkar was born & nearby town in Khandwa He was born.
Me also from Indore
That Efra's monologue regarding R&B was litttt😂😂😂
Can u give me the link of this r&b video everyone is talking about.... I'm not finding any such video on their chanel
@@Rash23215 it was a live stream so it's not on the channel anymore
This cannot be wrapped up in one episode. You gotta do more of Hemant Kumar, Geeta Dutt, Mukesh and more from this era.
Songs from Pyaasa, Guide, Khamoshi ... can't wait to share their magic with you.
Aapki nazron ne samjha is a 7 beat guys. It's called Rupak taal. It goes ti-ti-na, dhi-na, dhi-na(3-2-2) wherein the usual strong first beat isn't there as it's starting with ti as a closed beat. 😊
there's this beautiful video of kishore kumar doing a live performance. not on a big stage, but looks more intimate.. its brilliant
Lag jaa gale ❤️🔥
Amazing thing is that this song "Aap kee nazaron ne samajha" was well into Lata's career and she went on to do playback singing for actresses whose parents were probably just born around the time this song was released.
I have to say, the recommendations for Asha Bhosle were a bit lacking. Remember, Ashas signature was how insanely well she did the cabaret & sensual numbers. "Aaiye Meherban" is the absolute pinnacle of Asha Bhosle in the b&w era.
Kishore Kumar was in fact a great actor too! every movie he was in was a hit back then because we knew even if the stories weren't good enough ( mostly they were GREAT), the songs would be a blast!
Kishore Kumar was a versatile singer and A champion actor too.Yudling is simply awesome.
Literal Gods of Indian music Industry..no matter how many times you listen to them..u always find more in their works..
I can't describe how much I loved this❤❤❤
These were ones I heard during Mornings on Philips radio my grandpa played. There used to be Akashvani channel on radio back then. It was an AM channel. M a 90s kid but I remember most of these songs. That's why they remain to be evergreen.
You guys are doing a great job by connecting younger generations with the golden music days.. beautiful review.. you guys deserve a big applause for bringing these legends’ music to the young minds
Listen old Indian singer and see the face of actor,,,the same singer will sound different for each actor
Indian music is like, you count while learning then you forget all those rules as it becomes muscle memory. Then music flows..❤
I’m so glad you guys discovered Sanam, because honestly, out of all the covers to have released in the past decade, they have put out the best. They give the song a new life while staying true to the original composition.
We deserve such Old versus New /cover comparisons.. more..
Lata mangeshkar is the one and only vocals goddess of india. she died in 2022 but still she is number one and always be.that is why we always compare Shreya goshal to lata mangeshkar ❤❤
Shreya ji can't match the level of lata ji
O my god what a live it was today had no idea wtf was r&b my mind blasted😂
What is it Bro , I missed it , How to Watch it
@@Aman__ It's not on the channel anymore but in a nutshell it was a R&B stream so everyone had to recommend R&B music but most music from India was actually not R&B so efra kind of taught everyone (putting it mildly) what R&B means😂 and yeah it was this whole thing about how if three more recommendations turn out to be non R&B they'll end the stream and then we had almost saved the day (thanks to poonam but that's a whole diff story) but then someone messed it up and it was all like a whole laughter ride (I don't even know if that's a term but you get what I mean)and like super fun one of my fav live streams for sure..
@@RajniMishra223
Holyshit , that sounds So FUN and I totally missed out! Seriously, Wtf , Sad !! But Thanks for Explaining though
@@Aman__ no problem:)

Here after R&B tutorial 😂🎉
Kishore Kumar and Rahul Dev Burman untouchables.
I'm sorry brother but in my opinion RD Burman was overrated. There are so many songs that he just copied from west and here I'm not talking about inspired but directly copied. However, I am a huge fans of his father SD Burman. He is among the greatest composers of all time along with Naushad, Laxmikant-Pyarelal and some others. I loved him as a singer as well.
For Kishore Kumar, he was more of a commercial singer. I really love him, there are many songs which are just incredible but those are actually not that popular. I always loved his unpopular songs. However, in my opinion Mohammed Rafi sahab was the greatest singer of all time.
The greatest composer whose music by all generations has been remade is RD Burman.Pyaralal was taught about music by his mentor Anthony Gonzalves who wrote a lot of his music otherwise he a finger signature character
ROCKY AUR RANI was handled with such care in every aspect. The director Karan Johar LOVES hindi cinema, and through the medley ands mashups in the movie he really payed homage to old Bollywood, Both songs and filmmaking style. (Along with newly composed songs for this movie that are AMAZING as well) Everything about it is ALL HEART ❤😭 The acting damn good no one can beat Ranveer and Alia 😍
One of my favourite podcasts!!!
The songs you guys chose were perfect!!
Kishore Kumar is favourite ❤
Thank you for reacting to abhi na jao chod kr. You guys have become a part of my life since 3 years. So please abhi na jao chod kr ke dil abhi bhara nahi ❤
You guys react and search for Indian Cinema and Music more than technical Indian Musical channel. Respect
I think you should react to chatur naar song it's good and the video is funny too❤❤
Who agree?
Do you even know Kishore kumar never learn or anything HE IS SUCH AN NATURAL BORN TALENTED SINGER🤩
Justice for R&B
Kishore Kumar ❤
Shreya's cover on aap ki Nazro is also awesome!
This is my dream feature friday video =D The golden era
More of these black and white Hindi cinema and more Madhubala, kishore Kumar, and Mohammad rafi
Loved this reaction to these classics. Learned so much about the musical insight aspects of the arrangements from you two. Adore the love of good music you both share. 👍🏼😀
16:48, the actor in this was considered as the very first superstar of Indian cinema, no one was close to him in terms of stardom, just like now srk is❤❤
Nostalgic.Beautiful poetry in these songs. Thanks for playing these songs!!
I think Dev Anand might be another thing you will like more, most of his movies had great songs. Whenever I want feelings I go back to the old songs, for every mood there are many songs with amazing lyrics. As you rightly mentioned it had soul, most of the songs these days (not just remixes) lack soul.
At 27:10, the time signature is of 7/7 beats in the structure 3-4/3-4. Roopak Taal in classical music.
The one for 49:30 or so, is 6/6 beats in the structure 3-3/3-3 - Dadra taal.
This is one of Lata's favourite songs.
Guys please watch Jodhaa Akbar for next Watchalong ✌️A.R Rahmaan music and Hrithik and Aishwarya the perfect combo.Don't miss out on this cinematic masterpiece that will leave you spellbound from start to finish and yes the Music score is is incredibly impressive don't miss it 🙌

This movie has good music by AR
Listen that song "abhi na jao chhhodkar in Sonu nigam's voice or Shreya's specially their live performance
Amazing podcast👍
Yess that was one of the songs that started the Indian obsession of rain, romance, roof. Several songs have been themed around it. Shahrukh's Chak Dhoom Dhoom and Sonu Nigam's On The Roof In The Rain are probably the best of all those
Guys you should have listened man kyu behakare behaka. It is sung by both Latha mangeshkar and asha bhosle.
The journey with you both!!!! Every time every fking song.... I just go on a journey with you!! First time commenting though been you subscriber since the initial 50k subs....love and blessings to you folks❤❤
One of my most favourite classic "yeh shama"....❤🤌
I live 2 km away from Kishore Kumar birthplace.
Thank you for introducing these luscious songs to so many people in India who still don't know them
Love this you guys! Thanks for doing it.
This is the only 1 reaction channel deserves to be on UA-cam. This two ppl are so knowledgeable and knowing what they doing. ❤❤❤ so much ❤
Regarding the almost absense of falsetto and vibrato in Indian playback music legendary Asha Bhosle ji was asked in a popular singing competition tv show and she replied that such variations were mostly considered as weakness of vocal ability in classical way of Indian music and most classically trained music directors and singers discourage them to be used.
6:19 She Was Kishore Kumar's Wife & Legendary Actress Madhubala.
You can react to a music album of movie- vivah.. beautiful songs with a very simple indian touch to the songs 😊
You should also watch "Teri bindiya re" by Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar ❤❤
Kishore kumar is the most talented being ever❤❤❤❤
Masterpiece❤❤🎉
I freaking love every single song in this video. It's my comfort. Great choice this time guys.
Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar were the background music to my childhood when my immigrant parents would roll around Los Angeles in the 80s in their beat-up boat Chevy's and Buicks.
now time to react to shreya ghoshal singing all those classics especially abhi na jao chod kar live and get obsessed over it hehe lessgo!!!!
U too❤❤true yr these days I just play Shreya concert performance of old classics and listen it..she nailed every song..now I am addicted with her voice
Abhi na jao chod kar is one of my favourite oldie song❤
Clap clap.... Yipppeee.... We need all the parts that might go upto hundreds.. you are at the tip right now...starting from the 50's to 2024 you will go a lot deeper... Believe me....
The time signature of "Aap ki Nazron ne" can be understood by knowing "Roopak Taal", seven beats in three parts, first containing three, and the next two containing two beats each. da-da-da----da-da----da-da. It is used a lot in Indian music.
Also, the Lata song is not in 6/4 but in 7/4, separated into 3-2-2. A lot of songs in Indian music are 7 beat cycle, it is not very uncommon, since there are multiple such 'taals' or rhythms of this pattern in classical music
Efra even watched a video on Roopak. Not sure if he remembers. But that is indeed the time cycle used in that song (Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha).
@@kfr3823 Oh I wasn't aware of that, but yes it is indeed Rupak taal and Abhi na jao is in Dadra. Not sure how these time signatures work in western music, hence can't offer a better explanation to them.

To watch a beautiful series about the black and white era, and a storyline based on filmmakers of the era and how films were made back then in Bollywood, watch "JUBILEE" 💕 It's genuinely such a good show, that presents that era soo well, not the mention the songs from that series are ABSOLUTE GOLD So if you plan to explore more about that era, films and music, "JUBILEE" is the SHOW for you !!! Also could be your first Indian series (only 10 episodes fyi)
You have just hit the gold mine of the Indian cinema . The Golden era of organic cinema… Wish you get across the best of the diamonds of that era ❤
