Only 2 seconds clips wont get you to feel anything. At least see 1 min clips
Totally agree
Yeah. It's really irritating. Atleast a stanza should be featured.
Exactly, you can look at few second clip of SRK to understand his worth, you can't know the depth of a river or ocean from it's picture. Please it's awful, even we who have heard these songs hundreds of time are unable to enjoy them so it seems like you guys are just faking it. No offence!
Right
They won't 😂😂
Acha ji main haari is such a vibe. Its a banter between the two leads and you can hear how expressive the song is. Asha bhosle and Rafi saab taunting each other and is beautifully acted out by the leads.
You must listen full version of these songs... Specially of Madhubala... She was the most beautiful actress I have ever seen in whole Bollywood. . and the song she worked in art really great
Have you seen Saira Banu.
@@LakshayKadam-nf2vr yes but our choices can vary... I have shared my views about Madhubala may be you have found saira Banu more beautiful
Babuji means "father", but it also means "sir" or "mister", please react to "ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si", it's a great song!
yeah and in that context she meant it like a playful way not sexy
@@ymmich2143 yes correct
I can't show you the feeling how much old classic songs are means to me, always my mind is in peace to listen these classic. I love all songs before 2015(except a few may be) , it's always Nostalgic ❤❤❤❤

My favorite era of Bollywood music...I am not sure anyone can give you a selection of songs that are enough to represent the beauty and melody of the era. Couple of things I would certainly suggest for any podcast, please find songs with sub-titles. One thing we can certainly say for sure is that the poetry and lyrics were far far better in that era compared to now (I also think because of the limitation of how much things can be shown visually, people were also compelled to write down those splendid lyrics and poetry to give the emotion fully to the audience). Second aspect is please include songs from Talat Mahmood, Geeta Dutt and Hemanth Kumar in any of the podcasts you are doing ...
The intimate song which waleska pointed out so beautifully and perfectly about, is from a film directed by Guru Dutt. Geeta Dutt's husband. He was known for his lighting and magic of light n shadows in his movies. A few of his movie songs were included in this list
One song which is an ace one didn't feature here is *hum bekhudi mein tum ko pukaare chale gaye* by legendary *Mohammad Rafi* Please view it - it's a song which gets you in trance and lyrics is out of the world! Another one is *man re tu kaahe na dheer dhare* again by maestro Rafi ! Please feature them - you will fall in love with them.
'Dil ka bhawar kare pukar ' is a beautiful song. Dance was not big back then, actors used to express the songs with facial expressions.
omg it's great you caught up on takat mehmood, he's an absolute favourite of mine, and my uncle ❤
Oh and also, there was a music director who used his signature horseshoe sounds (idk the technical term, enlighten me) in his songs
You can do a whole podcast on each of the songs in this compilation. That’s how iconic they are. Hope you guys dig deeper into this as it will help you understand Indian movie music better.
U don't know how much I'm satisfied you chose to make this video me being born in 2005 but grown up watching old movies and songs becuz we used to have only one channel door darshan govt based in our old 80s tv i feel blessed now that my childhood was around this beautiful songs and actors actress I'm literally crying becuz I find ur reaction video to classics and old singer unique which I don't find in any reaction channel this songs are in my heartbeat whenever I feel lonely this songs are best to hear 😊 I waited for this video from very long time 🎉 fav work and reaction
My favourites are:-
1)Waqt ne kiya- Geeta Dutt
2)Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua- Lata Mangeshkar and Manna Dey
3) Bekarar Karke hame- Hemant Kumar
4)Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha- Lata Mangeshkar
Talat Mehmood was a ghazal singer, that is why he sounded so different
I love how despite not knowing the language, you both have such a deep understanding of culture, emotions, feelings and music technicalities !! Keep it up and keep doing what you do guys, much love to you both :)
On the COMPLETION OF 100 YEARS OF INDIAN CINEMA in maybe 2013, "RAJSHRI" UA-cam CHANNEL has produced series of playlists and short videos for different categories, actors, singers, music, films, etc. I will try to find the link of at least one.
Not efra calling himself 'babuji' haha. 😅😂
I can't even begin to compile a list for your podcast.. just too many gems to choose from❤
There is something about these songs that even if u listen to it only once and are not even big fan of it, u will start humming these songs without even realising. I guess thats what makes them evergreen
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for giving me chance to witness all these classics. It's a bliss
1:54 Lata Mangeshkar was always in her prime
What songs bro!! Beautiful songs . I have heard all of them when father used to play them on casettes also on TV it would come with a particular segment called "Retro hits" and "awaz de kahan hai" when i was growing up. Even now i think. Ever green for a reason.
Nice Recognising.. Geeta Dutta was genius... From West Bengal. Manna Dey was a Genius from West Bengal also
three songs that pierce my heart.. kuchh dil ne kaha.. waqt ne kiya.. tu pyar ka sagar.. you could consider for your podcast
I am a big fan of you guys, your reactions are so genuine❤. People already suggested which songs you should watch next so I'm skipping it but in my opinion I think you should watch full songs ( if not full at least do watch 1 minutes) with subtitles because only that way you guys can feel the essence of those songs and also can understand why it was called "golden era of music". Knowing your taste in music you guys will love it for sure and surely enjoy it a lot.
We finally get this reaction after dozens of remix compilations! Please do this more often!
Hi i love that you love old black and white songs. You two are great and are so young appreciating this music in a different language. My two children in their 20s don't appreciate this music and they are indian. Please continue to do more of this as i feel great joy when you love this music too and Geeta Dutt and Talat Mahmood you have great knowledge of music and song. I just wish the clips were longer to fully understand appreciate and enjoy the songs. Great reactions as always. ❤❤❤❤
Rang Aur Noor by Mohammed Rafi is an absolute gem from the black and white era. Please do include it ❤️

Listen to Hemant both Hindi & Bengali.
His voice.
Many girls at this time will die for that voice. 😍
Kishor Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Talat Mahmood, Manna De, Mukesh, Hemant Kumar............and other past singers..........the current generation cannot hold a candle to these singers.
5:16 i can't believe i still had this song in my playlist with todays song❤❤
90s song realization hit hard when you really understands the meaning behind the lyrics unlike now , most of the songs nowadays does not hold meaning only focus on short term joy. i quit listening to Bollywood now i only listen Indian 90s and classical songs they are the best , when i was kid i ma annoyed by these songs but now i know why my parents love to listen them.
Every song in this album is worth part of anybody’s playlist ❤️❤️❤️❤️
She is Meena Kumari also known as Tragedy Queen
of Bollywood. Pakizaah took approx 14 years to
complete. Meena Kumari suffered partial face
paralysis in the meantime. Her husband Kamal
Amrohi directed this movie. She died one week
(before or after not sure) when this movie was
released.
Singer is Lata Mangeshkar.
Indian music is for soul... Proved again

Listen to compositions of Sachin Burman total genius💖
It's sooo nostalgic.. Love you both from 🇮🇳India🇮🇳
i love these songs..i am born in 1999 and these retro songs r just amazing..i miss such songs..it's like nowadays people have forgotten to write lyrics!
Really.. like this video golden Era of bollywood music❤❤
Love this, wish the clips were longer though...some very beautiful music.
Geeta dutt's piya aiso jiya mein is awesome.
Mukesh usually sang for RAJ KAPOOR who is Kareena kapoor's relative.
Talat Mahmood is supposed to have the largest range of singing voice....in bollywood. I remember hearing that no one could go as low as Talat Mehmood.
Mohammed Rafi sang all the dreamy romantic songs.
Kishor Kumar sang for himself and all the naughty, chirpy songs.
Also all these singers recorded their songs in one go.. that's why the songs are so magical and singers are legend.
Damn now they get so much bollywood and bollywood songs stuff.
i AM AMAZED THAT YOU TWO CAN IDENTIFY LOT OF OUR SINGERS, BRAVO, KEEP IT UP
Wo shaam kuch ajeeb thi
O duniya ke rakhwale
Mere mehboob qayamat hogi
Sau baar janam lenge
Eena meena deeka
Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si
I am happy that you ppl are finally talking about Talat Mahmood. I had been asking you ppl to react on his songs in past. He was the velvet voice of golden era of the Indian hindi music. He was also considered as the Gazal King of India in his times.
I wouldn't judge the audio quality from these videos. For some reason, some official youtube channels will upload videos with absolute shit audio.. even when the actual audio on the soundtrack (for example when listening to the lyrical version) is good. No idea why... and then they copyright strike ppl who upload higher quality stuff......
Most of the songs have kareena and ranbir’s Grandfather Raj kapoor ❤️😍
It's true that old is gold ❤❤
Thank you both for this reaction 🙏. Songs from the late 2940s to 1960s were amongst the best in Indian cinema.
Edema though you prefer Greta Dutts voice, but you totally appreciate the immense vocal style of Lata Mangeshkar which set the goal post. All others female singers of that period and up to today are in their own ways trying to replicate our beloved Lataji. I am always impressed by your capacity to analysis and articulate so amazingly.
I loved most of the songs in this selection, though you should try to listen to the whole songs.
From this selection if I had to select two song for a further reaction , it should:
1) ‘Naina bares’ by Lata - from the film ‘Woh Kahn thi’.
2) ‘Kachin deep jale, Kachin din’ also by Late from the film ‘Bees saal bad’.
3) Mohammed Rafi’ s mega song ‘Yeh Duniy Yeh mehfil’ from the 1979 ‘Heer Rangha’.
Bless you both ❤😮
You should listen each song fully to get feelings, all 100% mind blowing. All are legend one . Go for it , all are most famous and on each Indian full time memory👏👏
all these songs are legends... better to watch all of them full.
early 2000s have remixs of this old bollywood songs and it was hit
Mukesh is an absolute legend of indian cinema of old and Geeta Dutt and Talat Mahmood and Shamshad begum, these werethe first ever singers of indian cinema and had class!!
In the video , for the song, Haal kesa hei janab ka at 3:00 , the credit shows Mhd rafi as the singer, but it is actually sung by kishore kumar.
I hope you can listen to all these osngs someday on a podcast! these are so special. you would have fun with each one, I can tell!
Babuji in context to family means someone elderly. And for calling a unknown person it also means "Mister". In the songs you watched it meant Mr.
Babu ji is used for father, but it is also used as "Sir" in many cases like in this song
Babuji dheere chalna means Sir walk slowly
in 3:00 you missed it, rafi was giving back vocals for kishore kumar himself, kishore was the actor there
PLEASE REACT TO
1.HUSN BY ANUV JAIN
2.SANAM TERI KASAM(HALE DIL MERA)
3.AAJ DIN CHADEYA
4.LEHRA DO BY ARIJIT SINGH
5.CHOO LO
Yes ,you are right Geeta Dutt was insanley popular and she also came when Lata mangeshkar hadn't step in music industry.and even Lata and Geeta were very close friends.
Talat Mahmood , Geeta Dutt , Shamshad Begum , Hemant Kumar , Manna Dey , K L Saigal , Noor Jehan ❤❤❤ All lost in time gems ❤😢
Babu ji in this song means Mister. "Hey mister be careful when falling in love many get deceived
In those days it was a way to address a man Babu ji.
Also at home many called their father Babu ji or Bauji.
To watch a beautiful series about this black and white era, and a storyline based on filmmakers of the era and how films were made, watch "JUBILEE" ❤ It's genuinely such a good show, that presents that era soo well, not the mention the songs from that series are ABSOLUTE GOLD 🔥🙌 So if you plan to explore more about that era, films and music, "JUBILEE" is the SHOW for you !!! 💕 Also could be your first Indian series (only 10 episodes fyi)
Youre so right about Geeta
All the kagaz ke phool tracks just give me pain. The movie is SO good. And for this film, Guru Dut literally lost his everything. So sad 😞
Waleska you are right kishore sir and asha ji's combination is deadly
Hey, a suggestion of songs for the feature friday episode:
1. Abhi na jao chhod kar/Achha ji mai haari chalo (both playful duets by Asha Bhonsle and Md. Rafi)
2. Jaane woh kaise log the (Hemant Kumar), or any other song of his
3. Ae dil mujhe aisi jagah le chal (Talat Mahmood), this song is my grandfather's favourite, but any other song of his will do as well
4. Any Geeta Dutt song
5. Either or both of these two epic classical performances - Laga Chunari Mei Daag (Manna Dey) & Madhuban mei Radhika naache (Md. Rafi)
I know it is sacrilegious to not put any Lata ji songs here but I feel you guys have heard a few of her songs from this era hence recommending other artists :)
These songs were my grandparents childhood so they would play these songs all the time even when they grew up and that became my parents childhood so similarly my parents would play it all the time when they grew up and now it’s my childhood too hehe ❤
You have to see more of Meena kumari ji's performances 👍🏻💗
Love it 👌👌❤
In the context of these songs , Babujee has been used as Oh Mister
Asha bhosle may not be doing songs now, but on this 9th march she is having INDIA'S BIGGEST CONCERT ever namely - Asha @ 90 in mumbai.....truely it will be magical....❤
Babuji is used in two ways: 1) Gentleman, 2) While addressing an elderly person with respect.. Here in the songs 1. is being used
So in India we used "babu ji" (same word) in different context. Babu ji known as father or father figure as well as Mister.
Asha Bhosle and Geeta Dutt the favs anytime. Talat Mahmood was also often referred to as "the man with an air conditioned voice" was also a ghazal singer . Hemant kumar was amazing as a singer and music composer. Manna Dey was a classical genius. Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi and Kishore Kumar legends. Also listen to songs composed by O P Nayyar.
Gita Dutta from Bengal.Always most of the legendary singer comes from this state.Whole India know this.
In 50s and early 60s , Hindi cinema was at it's peak . And by hindi cinema , i don't mean bollywood. Now , it's an industry which is just producing the same product by the same formula . In those days , there was a sense of AUTHENTICITY in movies , not just in songs but also in writing and acting and by that I mean people could relate to characters and the emotions much more than what it has become today
Talat mehmood, mahendra kaooor, mukesh khanna, munna day, hemant kumar, Muhammad rafi, and many more are male singers.
Female singers are lata, asha, geeta dutt, sadhna sargam, kavita krishna murti, alka yagnik, anuradha pourval, suman kalyanpuri and many more
All are masterpieces. React to them individually
you can do a full episode on talar mahmood.. what a singer ❤
There is a single alphabet difference between babu and bapu
Bapu (dad)
Babu ji (mister /gentleman )
You’ve seen Kareena n Ranbir Kapoor’s grandfsther several times in these songs. He was an actor, producer, Director. You’ve seen Kajol’s aunt as well and Kareena Kapoor’s sunt too.
geeta dutt, manna dey, kishore kumar etc all are from west bengal. just listern to their bengali songs
Geeta Dutt had a sultry voice.
Hemanta had a macho voice.
Rafi had a vibrant voice.
Kishore Kumar had a virile voice.
Mukesh had a nasal crying voice.
Please consider one singer at a time in chronological order to understand the golden era. Each one is unique and different in approach and style. Traditional and classical music of India blended with western and Persian music in it's most pleasant form can be seen from the very beginning of 'talkies'. Thanks to the music directors who were pioneers of the film music in India. You should start from Pankaj Mullick and Anil Biswas as trend setters first generation composers. Pankaj Mullick is the composer who introduced the sound of running horses for the first time in the song 'chale pawan ki chal'. He was a great singer also. K. L. Saigal, the great singer and actor flourished under his direction. Anil Biswas is regarded as the great grand father of hindi film music industry. He established the framework of film music recording and orchestration for the future generations to follow and develop further. He introduced evergreen singers like Talat Mehmood and Mukesh to the film industry. C. Ramchandra and Naushad, the great composers publicity acknowledged that they followed him.
These are a few suggestions :
1. Achha ji main haari chalo maan jao na
2. Haal kaisa hai janab ka
3. Woh hai jara khafa khafa
4. Uddein jab jab julfein teri
5. Aapki najron ne samjha (A vocal masterpiece 😌)
6. Baar baar dekho
