The reason Russ was traded 3 times in 3 season is because Paul George wanted to go home to LA after OKC lost to the blazers in the first round, then on the rockets harden and Russ wanted out because the training staff did Russ dirty in the bubble when Russ had a quad injury and the training staff cleared him to play and he was at high risk of injuring it again, than on the wizards Russ knew he was going to waste his career with the wizards because they aren’t good enough to contend but not bad enough to be a lottery team and Russ knew his years in the league were numbered so he wanted to go home to LA where he had his best chance to contend for a championship since the 15-16 season.
Reports came out lately, that Russ contacted Kawhi about teaming up in LA, but that Kawhi didn't wanna play with him and told Paul George about it so they teamed up instead. Russ has been trying to find his way back to LA, this is the offseason he finally got it.
Russ averages 10 assists as the first scoring option so hopefully he can make some adjustments and focus a little more on playmaking than shooting contested threes that won't ever go in 🤷♂️
As long as Russ don’t do his volume brick laying ( shooting ) then he will be great for Lakers . No long 2’s , no jacking up shots when your not feeling it . His shot selection needs to improve drastically or he will shoot them out of the game like usual
Russ is one of the best in the league at mid range shots....and shooting to get a rhythm is what alot of top players do. Don't hear any complain when Trey Young only hits 42% of his shots(which is often the case, basically his average) or Luka constantly going 10-25 , 5-19, 15-33, etc. Also Dame and Harden hit 44% of their shots, the same as Russ.

Not true. Russ was playing at the same level for about a month prior to the Capela trade. The reason they traded Capela was because CAPELA (and not Russ). He was injury prone, and the Rockets as a team won more games without him.
100% accurate. He wasn't able to do anything with Capela clogging the paint, which is why I hope the Lakers won't start Dwight. Lakers might have to start Marc Gasol at C to get the spacing right, or even play AD at C (which AD doesn't want to) but you gotta do what you gotta do to win a chip.
the Houston situation in the playoffs made no sense cause they knew Westbrook is not gonna shoot well. if you take the ball out of a non shooters hands it makes them useless
Facts bro, I gained a tremendous amount of respect for him during that year he was with the rockets… Excellent teammate, great leader, gives his all… Hopefully he wins at some point…
I believe his Basketball IQ is not too high, but man, the way he plays, all heart and soul. Give this man credit. I think he needs a true leader who can slow him when necessary, make him take the best decision. LBJ can give him that, more than PG, Harden or even KD could (even if they're among the best, no disrespect).

He’s my favorite player but I’ve always been tough on him. This is the best situation in Russ' career and he can’t mess it up. All he has to do in LA is play great in the regular season like he always does to give LeBron a good amount of rest and then come playoff time hand the keys to LeBron and just don’t do the most by taking ill-advised bone-headed shots that will cost his team games. I love Russ but it’s just no more excuses for him. You can say that he was playing hurt during the playoffs with the Rockets and that PG was ass in the 2018 playoffs but the constant is that he shoots below 40% from the field in almost every postseason, makes stupid passes that will sell his team the game, and does this with all-nba talent. If he can’t get it done this year with LeBron and AD (barring any major injuries) then he’ll be the most disappointing superstar in NBA history (passing TMac)
Nah tmac is way worse tbh. Russ has been to the finals and has performed in the finals. With kd he was actually amazing in the postseason. More people need to watch those grizzlies series. Kd wasn't making it without russ and vice versa. Everyone gives kd the credit for the winning, but when they choked in 2016, russ actually had a better series than kd if u were watching the games. Tmac never made it past the first round in his ENTIRE career. And hes severely underperformed just as bad as russ has in the later years, probably worse.
@Denny Dova Utter b.s. More success how? The Suns haven't been good at all? They've been good for the last two years. You just weren't paying attention. Remember their undefeated stint at the bubble?
@Denny Dova You're also denying their half a season post ASG before the bubble. You're also denying that the Suns play better with Cameron Payne per team statistics. You're also denying that most contenders were actually injured this season. I guess that doesn't fit with the media narrative.
@Denny Dova Triggered? No, darling, that's just your narcissim speaking, or worse... projection. Everything I said is provable facts. It's ok. You tried. Failed, but tried. Just like the Suns.
@Denny Dova That's quite wrong but go off. The suns were 1 game away from making the playoffs last year despite Ayton's 25 game suspension. They would've made the playoffs without CP3 last year if Ayton wasn't an idiot.
Westbrook is my favorite player in the nba by far. But the contrast of his playing style and his inability to shoot is just a problem. Like he is so energetic pulls a lot of attention from the defense, he his so fast and furious but his style of play cause so many mistakes and errors that end up negating all his benefits. I just hope he find a last chance to find a last chance to be in a team with elite shooting and good defense cause that would be the best setup around him
8:53 Andy I don't think John Wall was disgruntled at all. The Wizards just gave up on him even though he was cleared to play that season. Washington did him wrong.
Because Westbrick is a toxic 0 BBIQ loser. His "intensity" and athleticism is wasted because he's so dumb. Russ puts up those gaudy stats because he's a point guard that gets to do whatever he wants even if it hurts his team. And when the Playoffs come around, when teams know exactly how to let him hurt his team most- they just get out of his way. Think about it- all opposing teams have to do is let Russ be Russ - be a cancer to his own team with dumb shots, turnovers and feminine emotional outbursts.
He has to defer more shooting wise, he's one of the best assist and rebounders. He can be an asset, just don't give him the green light to shoot whenever he wants. Especially in do or die moments.
I agree with everything you said but the last part I think is a bit misconstrued. Weirdly enough Russ is actually the statistically clutchest player of the last decade. Just go back and watch his mvp season hes hit plenty of clutch shots. And in the playoffs in his early years he hit some rlly clutch shots (and one three when down by four against the grizzlies, game winning layup against the spurs). Obviously now hes gonna defer to lebron and AD (like he did with beal last season which tbh shouldnt have happened he led the league in cclutch fg percentage) but when need be he can still hit the clutch shot. Just shouldn't let him shoot too much before the 4th quarter
Laker couldn’t get anyone better then wb with the package they trade with . Honestly laker didn’t give up much to get wb is just they have to pay him over 40m this season
The big problem with Russell Westbrook is obviously his offensive efficiency. His efficiency with the wizards was 12 points per 100 possessions lower than the average NBA player. That's not good for winning basketball. It's the definition of stat stuffing. I would guess that his usage rate will go down this next season. His high usage rate along with his massive amount of turnovers also makes it hard for seems to win with him on the floor. That's a lot of triple doubles in games that his team loses.
Russ has the same problem as a lot of other NBA stars, they are too good to not offer a max contract but not good enough to win a championship while being the highest paid player on the team… if Westbrook was getting paid $20 million a season he would be looked at completely different same with guys like Ben Simmons.
This is why clauses with media controlled awards should not be taken serious and must be remove on contract stipulations. Imagine paying Gobert supermax because some moronic media votings put him on All-NBA teams, lol.
Westbrook has been humbled and learned quite a bit since KD left him. He deferred to Paul George, Harden and Beal. So, I don't think he's going to take many bad shots. He needs to cut down his turnover and improve his defense.
@@schmidtytime Westbrook is a flawed player and is not a superstar. Nobody questions that. But he shouldn't be getting the blame for his team failures for the past 3 seasons. He didn't have to win the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER to begin with. He won it only because the was tripling doubling but he was doing it only with stat paddling. His team wasn't going anywhere, his TEAMS never went anywhere. He wasn't a MVP to begin with (several people were b4 him).
All opponents need to do is let Russ do whatever he wants. He'll naturally shut out his teammates and be a cancer to his team. He's that dumb. Literally just let him shoot and he'll lose the game.

Why does everyone say that Houston "barely" beat OKC in the bubble without mentioning that Russ missed the first 4 games of that series and that he was coming off of a quad injury???
He is still the most overrated player in the modern NBA by several miles. High usage never wins. He can have one million quadruple doubles and he still has almost no value for cost and chemistry.

im not a westbrook fan but i was excited to see how him attacking centers during the 2020 reg season will translate in the playoffs(their microball as Max said) but he turned into a jumpshooter again
He gets less and less effective as a series progresses because of his knees/age and teams realize that they only have to a) force him left or b) sag and tempt him to brick one from the perimeter.
At some point, there is a distinction between, Marbury, Melo, Stevie Francis, T-Mac, Harden and Westbrook with the likes of Durant, Curry, Leflop, Duncan and Giannis! All great players but when it comes to crunch time, it's easy to see the difference.
2017 Russell Westbrook when he averaged a triple double for the first time was amazing to witness then he started making triple doubles lose its meaning but that season was magical also I make videos as well
I believed immediately that it'll work. Russ is more willing to make adjustments in new teams than people give him credit for. 2019-20: Houston, he adjusted well. 2020-21: DC, he adjusted well. Although he didn't play great in the playoffs, a lot of it was because of injuries.
4 teams in 4 years. I know that sounds bad for a superstar player but the same thing happened to Vince Carter in the middle of his playing career (and Shaq at the end of his)
I always hated Russ for his attitude that he couldnt control sometimes. But feel bad for him seeing teams throwing him away, dude plays with a heart but ppl just dont see it sometimes
because for all of his intensity, for all of his passion, and for how good he is at what he does he lacks the ability to make a team better, he lacks the ability to come through in the clutch, his emotions get the better of him and lead to really bad moves in the closing quarter of games, and at the end of the day despite EVERYTHING he has never helped a team get over the hump.
@@bluesrockfan36 actually him in the payoffs proves the point. He ran the offense into the ground every 4th quarter ended why they got swept. He's just not a guy who can put a team over the hump. It was funnelling all the offense through Beal that costed the Wizards the games. Hint: You should probably at least try to read some stats about that series, in particular the +/- in the fourth.

As a Russell Westbrook mega fan it is mad sad to see him be on 4 teams in 4 years but I’m happy he has a chance to get a ring also and I Love Dc Fans they where awesome also hope he retires in Oklahoma
Looks like those league execs were right considering that Russ has played so horribly in L.A and they could easily miss the play in entirely despite Lebron having one of his best offensive seasons at 37. Russ has clearly fallen off athlletically and despite making over 40 mill he has absolutely no jump shot at all, fans at home begh him not to shoot and fans on the road encourage him to shoot the ball hence he has earned the name Westbrick. He goes up for dunks then tries to lay them in and its comical to watch.
At this point Russ has to be the third option, like a jrue holiday. His game is outdated but his stats are impressive although it’s like Andre Drummond they end up negatively affecting the team. Hope he gets a ring this season
What did Houston work out with Westbrook? They were terrible as soon as they traded CP3 away... Westbrook turned Houston that was a quazy contender into another OKC almost a first round exit
First off, the best situation Russ was in was in OKC BEFORE the worst trade ever happened (i.e., Harden trade). They were young, they were the rising team to beat. I was an OKC fan back then (Russ, KD, Harden, Ibaka and Perk), now hopefully get to see three of them in the finals.
Being pretty new to the NBA (following since 2019 finals), I am super surprised that a guy like Westbrook is getting traded around like that. I thought stars usually stay with a team for like 7 years at a time. But I guess it doesn’t work like that.
From the first option in OKC, to the second in Houston, now the third in LA.... Next up, the Crawford 6th man role. Then and only then will his hero-ball style actually be useful to a contender.
Russ brings out the worst in NBA fans sometimes lol. I know he can be a little reckless at times but, I hate we are so caught in advanced metrics that we ignore our eyes. He’s an HOF. He’s a walking triple double, who turns it over more than he should. All this other nonsense is just cap for social media and hot takes.
Exactly. I’m well aware of Westbrook’s flaws, but I feel like he’s taken for granted. He’s an all time player who has consistently done things no other player has ever done. Other than LeBron, he is hated on and criticized more than any other player in the NBA. It’s sad because it seems like all fans want to do nowadays is focus on what hinders a player instead of what makes them great.
It will always be about the Health Chemistry , and overcoming The Long season of Attrition. We have seen teams over the year's that had the talent to win ? But they could never get it done when it counted ? Pressure is different in the playoffs then it is in the regular season. Teams that are able to overcome the pressure and the Attrition of it then those teams have a better chance of winning it. First your Supetstars have to play like Superstars , and then your bench players have to play well at home , and then on the road the bench if you have a good bench have to play just good enough that your Superstars can take it home.
BTW, Russ would always play off the ball in OKC when James Harden would come in the game. Whoever this is speaking don't know what the hell they're talking about
lemme just explain this okc trade: thunder wanted to start rebuilding so russ wanted okc to trade him to a contending team so he was traded to Houston Houston trade: League sources say Westbrook demanded a trade primarily because James Harden also wanted out of Houston, but also because the duo didn't fit that well together so be was traded to the wizards wizards trade: it was reported russell westbrook himself wanted to be traded to the lakers after meeting up with lebron and AD so he could return home there's a run down
@@Syientist I’d imagine lakers fans would be more pissed off about the westbrook trade. They could have gotten Hield and Turner instead and I don’t see how that wouldn’t have been a much better fit. I feel the best way for the lakers to dominate is for them to push the pace. Dominate the boards and create fastbreaks focussing on russ and bron. If the break is stopped dish out to open shooters or swing the ball to everyone to create confussion.
Finally, someone wtih in these comments. Yes he had. He wanted originally to go to L.A but Harden his childhood friend convinced him to go to the Rockets. Don’t think Russ’ individual talent or work ethic can be questioned, but basketball is a team game. As a team player, he just can’t seem to adjust for the greater good of the group. Just my take
Russ is at that point in his career where a ring matters more than anything else. In each and every trade, it was Russ that wanted out, not the teams that traded for him. Every team knew how valuable Russ is, and wanted to keep him at all costs. It was Russ's decision ultimately to go to whichever team he wants.
LMFAO no it wasn't 🤣 💀 😂 😭 Russ got traded from OKC because they had just traded Paul George and knew Russ wasn't gonna get them anywhere. Rockets Traded him for the same reason, Russ clearly stated he wanted put of Houston because he wanted to be able to play his way. Russ did NOT request a trade from DC, they traded him because they knew he was trash. Every team that traded for him, Hou, DC, LA were is desperation mode when they traded for him. Houston had no one to trade CP3 to, DC had no one to trade Wall to, and LA had no one who wanted Kuz and harrell's contracts. Stop lying to yourself and others man.
If the Lakers run the following starting five the Westbrook fit question goes out the window: 1) Nunn 2) Monk 3) Westbrook 4) James 5) Davis Having Russ go to the Small Forward allows the Lakers to run a PG and two point forwards that can slash, AD has, oddly been his healthiest and most dominant when playing the five. Russ was playing at the same level for about a month prior to the Capela trade.
The reason they traded Capela was because CAPELA (and not Russ).
He was injury prone, and the Rockets as a team won more games without him.
That was a bad trade for the rockets tbh having pj run the 5 plus Russ injury are two big factors of why they went home...
He got traded cause PG and Harden still wanted out. This is the first time in his career he ever dipped on purpose

i mean they had to do that though because other teams would just choose not to guard him on the perimeter and harden is a much better playmaker
As a Rockets fan I feel bad for him he is one of my favorite players even before Houston. Hope he can win a ring before harden cuz of those nets picks
Too much talk on court. Too arrogant. Hoping wont have a ring if wont change his attitude.

And hes severely underperformed just as bad as russ has in the later years, probably worse.
so he's just gonna be a shorter Ben Simmons in the playoffs
Bruh Russ asked to be traded all three times. And by this logic y'all gotta talk about chris paul being on 4 teams in 5 seasons.

@Denny Dova You're also denying their half a season post ASG before the bubble.
You're also denying that the Suns play better with Cameron Payne per team statistics.
You're also denying that most contenders were actually injured this season.

It's ok. You tried. Failed, but tried. Just like the Suns.
@Denny Dova Now I'm trolling? You do realize you can look this stuff up, right?
I agree, if I remember correctly the Wizards said they wouldn’t trade him, and then like a week later they traded him to H-Town
He was getting paid to sit at home, why would he be disgruntled?
Did him wrong how? He makes hundreds of millions just to chill lmaooo
In summary - basketball is a team sport and Russ is an individual player that cares for his individual performance over teamplay.
Then why does he turn the ball over? That clearly doesn’t help his stats if you think he just cares about his stats.
Westbrook is a beast and puts up great numbers but he never impacts the team for any kind of success
Other basketball youtubers need to come take some notes. This is how you do it. Been watching for years, always good stuff Andy.
Lol first round exits 😴
I wish he stayed in Houston and Ran it back with Harden bc he was playing the best basketball of his Career with Harden
I mean what’s making him get traded so often is how he demands a trade so often…
When russ gets a triple double he has a winning record 75% ur logic Is dumb
Russ has the same problem as a lot of other NBA stars, they are too good to not offer a max contract but not good enough to win a championship while being the highest paid player on the team… if Westbrook was getting paid $20 million a season he would be looked at completely different same with guys like Ben Simmons.
You're right man
This is why clauses with media controlled awards should not be taken serious and must be remove on contract stipulations.
Westbrook not taking bad shoots? I’ll believe it when I see it in the playoffs

This guy has hated Westbrook for years lol
Westbrook has been bad for teams for years, so that makes sense.
It does if the player plays winning basketball. Russ is insanely inefficient and has a very low basketball IQ
definitely. running into gobert, capela and ad each yr has made him have to get going from the outside in the playoffs
Even if the Lakers are fully healthy, I still believe that they’ll struggle.

My Blazers lost Melo and that one hurt
From the first option in OKC, to the second in Houston, now the third in LA....
Next up, the Crawford 6th man role. Then and only then will his hero-ball style actually be useful to a contender.
When he has a triple double his teams win games. Statistics show that. His “hero” style has always worked
It actually was. Been trying to get to LA since OKC. Every move from there has been to get to LA
Whoever this is speaking don't know what the hell they're talking about
lemme just explain this
okc trade: thunder wanted to start rebuilding so russ wanted okc to trade him to a contending team so he was traded to Houston
Houston trade: League sources say Westbrook demanded a trade primarily because James Harden also wanted out of Houston, but also because the duo didn't fit that well together so be was traded to the wizards
wizards trade: it was reported russell westbrook himself wanted to be traded to the lakers after meeting up with lebron and AD so he could return home

LMFAO no it wasn't 🤣 💀 😂 😭
Russ got traded from OKC because they had just traded Paul George and knew Russ wasn't gonna get them anywhere. @@davincerica7232 they missed almost two weeks of basketball due to covid they had one of the worst coaches in the league the team wasn’t that great and they dealt with Injuries throughout the whole season and Westbrook was hurt for the first half
@@davincerica7232 he barely gets respect if anyone gets too much respect it’s Dame people forget him losing to the warriors and blowing 3 15 point leads in 2019 when kd was hurt he got swept by the 6th pelicans lost in 5 after people were calling the blazers one of the most dangerous 8th seed and lost in the first round to Denver without Jamal Murray
This is only tangentially related to the video, but man Dennis Schroeder not signing the Lakers' offer because he wanted more may be the worst contract decision made in a long time. It turned out good for the Lakers though because it made it easier for them to trade for Russ (or at least lessened the Luxury Tax bill due to them).
