The Machinedrum has achieved legendary status. The Machinedrum is the modern day 808 and the Analog rytm is the modern day 909. Hands down the best drum machines of our time 🙌🏽
that makes absolutely no sense. 808 is an analog drum machine. it is responsible for styles like hiphop electro and other variants. 909 is a digital analog hybrid, more famous for house and techno. they are much more limited, but they crafted music styles at the time. Comparing technology that is separated by 30 years time is kinda absurd. Its like saying the oldschool pager of the 90s is my smartphone of today. Wait, what? Ye, exactly.
Really nice. I had wondered how the parameter lock interface was implemented. Looks really intuitive and playable. Demo really lifted my interest in buying one, so great job there. Very enjoyable performance here too.
I'd really like elektron to actually show how you can use the machinedrum as a 16 track midi sequencer. There isn't a single demo of this and it's not brilliantly documented in the manual. In theory though this machine could be the centre of my computer free studio set up. But it's hard for me to visualise and plan on my own as an inexperienced midi user.
I don't even own one of these and I could probably explain it.. It's probably the exact same as an MPC when it comes to sequencing, so look at those videos and they will translate over.. It will just be channel based, and whatever channel you select (example: 1A) will be sequenced.. It's the same for any midi sequencer.
Oh yeah man, starting at 8:12 to the end sounds like something from 'The Tuss' straight off of the 'Confederation Trough EP'. Really good stuff here, you hands down make the best gear demonstrations on youtube.
Since it has 16 tracks and can load a midi external control, how many notes Polyphonic can it control with the outbound MIDI? I'd love to pair one of these with my Virus TI. :D
HERE I AM? BRAZEN AND CONTROLLING............ PROGRAMMING YOUR EXPERIENCE IN ANOTHER WAY......KNELL FOR ME MR FARTY.... FROM KNOW XL BUT CAN YOU HANDLE IT ALL??????.......IT......PREHAPS I CAN WRITE A TRACK
Just seems like the kick on the machinedrum just doesn't have a lot of punch to it. This is only based on the videos I've seen of it. Never physically heard or used one myself
check out the korg electribe er-1 or the newer version of the same thing. some of the sounds he is making in the video remind me of sounds i made on my $200 electribe er-1. the machinedrum sounds 2-3x better (more crisp, less cartoony, more punchy pulse feeling sounds) but for 5x the cost. i like the cartoony weirdness of the electribe. make good use of the sequencer!!! also check out reason software and the korg moogslayer poly 800 modded synth for cheap cool stuff. the moogslayer can literally destroy speakers and ear drums with the frequencies it can hit. get moogslayer with filters and mod knobs if you can. reason software can do amazing things but its reverbs suck in my mind and ive had people able to identify its 'sound' i think due to it sounding so digital. but i use older versions. reason is like a drum machine and 3 synths full of patches and samples and knobs, nearly unlimited in every sense of the word. Reason and a usb midi controller keyboard will work on any laptop that has a 1.8ghz or better processor w/2gb ram. i always avoided the cheaper celeron or sempron processors though, but they may be able to do the job.
you can get reason and a midi controller keyboard with knobs and buttons so you can control the drum machine or synths. you just program (takes 2 mouse clicks) the knobs and pads and buttons to the knobs pads and buttons in Reason. for hands on hardware go with the electribe, for unlimited sounds and the ability to make old or newer sounding music and to be able to completely eq and mix the music and output whole composed songs id go with reason and a midi controller. another problem with the electribe is that if you make difficult/elaborate song compositions like i did, where you use all the instruments parts available per song, you have to copy the song to another song number and when you change over from say track 25 to track 26, even though its the same song the device has to cut any sounds off to go to the next track, in this case from track 25 to track 26. for fun and knob twiddling go with the electribe. for full awesome unlimited compositions and songs go with Reason or another software synth. both are great. im currently trying to talk myself out of a Tempest. i feel that machine gives me a bit of both electribe and reason and 909 and anything else. hands on and elaborate. also check out vintagesynth.org for ratings and prices, info and even to buy some of these devices from other users.
yes i can tell you a nice one!!! it's the LXR Drumsynth it cost's about 280$ , you have to assembly it yourself, but when it's finished, i my eyes, it's the better machinedrum! it's also digital, has also the sampling ability, has also parameter locks, and live record ability, it even looks a bit like a michinedrum, has only 6 parts instead of 16, but for me, the sound of it is better! i'm considering myself to buy one, but i'm scared of the assembly a bit....
LXR Drumsynth (280,- bucks digital drumsynth, like really close to this one) Akai Rythm Wolff (200,- bucks analog drumsynth) MfB 503 (about 150,- to 200,- ebay street price, analog drumsynth)
yeah i believe you, i was one the first who had a monomachine, but now, as the analogfour is out, people say the same "it's nothing like that..." ...elektron is a mean firm, they make the users addicted...
does anyone in the NYC area offer instruction or does anyone have any suggestions for learning other than the manual and the 3 tutorial vids provided by elektron? i got some of the basics down but would like too progress a faster rate..any info would b gretaly appreciated :)
if i had to choose one instrument that i was only allowed to use exclusively for a year it would probs be something like this. id miss my piano but yeh
I don't like that poppy clicky kick sound. I noticed this is apparent on this and the monotribe. Can you get a more ballsy kick out of it? more like a thump than a click. This all sounds like clicks and pops to me.
only one limit though: 64 step sequencer is ridiculous. 128 steps is a the minimum and that's why most of machines out there just are gnah. LXR instead
@Donal Finn All of their current products have trig conditions though, which essentially extends the sequencer to 512 step. Sadly, not on the machinedrum or monomachine though.
its new aphex twin sound element on his albums after syro...i can hear it but its kinda puffy and pillowy.i can hear the 12 bit cool but its not old drum machines kinda thin punchy sound
+frejgun True, if you want to use it as a regular drum machine and don't want to go wild with the tweakage, you can. Within a certain range of parameters it can sound normal, and even sound good enough to justify the price of the non-UW version, especially considering the awesome interface and internal and external sequencing capabilities. Just don't expect it to be an accompaniment tool as there are much better things for that, usually cheaper too.
its 2021 and this is still one of the best out there.
There’s a reason why so many popular artists use this thing
No its not. Its 2023 and its still one of the best out there..👍
@@SpikesStudio3 still agree
Ha. Nice one bro. 👍
Without question my favorite drum machine !!!

1:20 HE JUST TURNED A HIHAT INTO A FREAKING SYNTH MELODY.
Legendary machine on legendary hands. Dataline demos were another world level.
My favourite piece of gear! Such an amazing machine! Would be super cool an update with some new features! The Elektrons rules!
stunning presentation !!! it's good to show the intuitive & accurate side of those elektrons ;-)
Only this and the ER-1 are true classic drum synths of the past 20 years.
No.
Still Elektron's best drum machine imo.
Edit:
Though I do enjoy my Analog Rytm :)
FUCK!!! i had to come back to see this video again. This Machine is a flat DeathStar
I see you everywhere. You know your stuff.
That jam at the end broke the rules of harmony. I loved it :)
"rules" ? ... what sort of rules, man-made or natural ones?
Really nice. I had wondered how the parameter lock interface was implemented. Looks really intuitive and playable. Demo really lifted my interest in buying one, so great job there. Very enjoyable performance here too.
I miss it, i hooe a MK3 will happen! 💜
great and motivating demo even for someone who bought his first machinedrum 6 years ago
Rewatching this after the abysmal Digitone 2 intro video, makes me even more sad :(
I am using one right now and love it! Now I need to get either new Digitakt or MK2 Rytm
I really wish this thing was cheaper... I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it were less than $1000
just ordered this badboyy today cant wait to create some TECHNO!!!
dan raiche techno still exists??
lmao, techno is allways been here, and seems like its here to stay.
Beethoven actually made techno, it just wasn't popular at the time. There was a 1800s underground techno scene. *bumpin*
The look of this unit is pretty cool. It sounds nice :)
amazing box
more flexible than current drum machines!
I love these new demo vids. Really easy to follow and inspiring!
Has warmth to it for sure
thank you for this. Would love to see more with using the sequencer for an external synth (for example). Thanks again
Elektron Best Produkt Ever !
Back Hector!!
You hear that ! THE BEST IN THE WORLD! But for real though. This machine is top notch!
the high frequency at the end kills me

those two are tottaly different seqencers. :)
I'm thinking on buy this for creating some minimal eletronic music. Can I use just this machine for creating a whole song?
idk
This guy reminds me of FPSRUSSIA
Try the filters and Lfo setting pages
if this doesnt help go to the fx mastering section
insane machine
Pads sounds like Analord by AFX
Oh yeah man, starting at 8:12 to the end sounds like something from 'The Tuss' straight off of the 'Confederation Trough EP'. Really good stuff here, you hands down make the best gear demonstrations on youtube.
Daniel Dodd himself...I miss you!
Love this Machine! Great thanks for that
Es una chulada..
which product from elektron is the successor of this the Machinedrum? digitakt?
how can i put inside the sound pack???????????????? help!!! for ableton live?
Since it has 16 tracks and can load a midi external control, how many notes Polyphonic can it control with the outbound MIDI?
I'd love to pair one of these with my Virus TI. :D
IL Y A UNE REVERB SUR LA ELEKTRON?
HERE I AM? BRAZEN AND CONTROLLING............
PROGRAMMING YOUR EXPERIENCE IN ANOTHER WAY......KNELL FOR ME MR FARTY.... FROM KNOW XL BUT CAN YOU HANDLE IT ALL??????.......IT......PREHAPS I CAN WRITE A TRACK
A
ny ideas on how this interfaces with Abelton?
nice if i had a grand id get one now
Just seems like the kick on the machinedrum just doesn't have a lot of punch to it. This is only based on the videos I've seen of it. Never physically heard or used one myself
Wonderfull machines
Hi guys, after I put new kits, how can I selected it?
Great overview tutorial. Do some more as for example kit management -;()
I wanna know how hip hop would sound like on this
@Daenerys Targaryen lol, funny over simplified dissing of a whole genre.
Tundrah Sounds worked and seething
Pardo true. Can’t argue on that.
Tundrah Sounds it was good 1980-1985.
can anyone recommend a drum machine with lesser cost?

do a google search for best drum machines under $1000
and best drum machines under $500
im going batshit watching youtube clips on some of them
yes i can tell you a nice one!!!
it's the
LXR Drumsynth

Akai Rythm Wolff (200,- bucks analog drumsynth)
MfB 503 (about 150,- to 200,- ebay street price, analog drumsynth)
Is this still in production?
@Alastair Jackson I'll get back to you when I have £1000. How about trade for Akai Timbre Wolf?
@Alastair Jackson Deal.
Can I Mute different machines or change the volume?
yeah. There's other tutorial videos. If you want to know the most, read the manual for it. It's interesting.
The machinedrum needs an update to handle 24 bit stereo samples and also to add the PERF mode of the Analog 4 if you ask me.
impossible,
you can't upgrade an atari to be an intel pentium II or so
***** I meant a new version with new hardware. Not an issue now since I bought the Anlaog RYTM when it came out anyway :)
good choice^^
***** The perf mode on the RYTM is incredible. Nothing else like it.
yeah i believe you, i was one the first who had a monomachine,
but now, as the analogfour is out, people say the same "it's nothing like that..."
...elektron is a mean firm, they make the users addicted...
haha he's wearing an elektron oktotrack shirt while operating an elektron machinedrum...haha
+Cardinal Cora Funny shit
stealth advertising?
does anyone in the NYC area offer instruction or does anyone have any suggestions for learning other than the manual and the 3 tutorial vids provided by elektron? i got some of the basics down but would like too progress a faster rate..any info would b gretaly appreciated :)
sick.
Already conquered, this baby will be mine !
if i had to choose one instrument that i was only allowed to use exclusively for a year it would probs be something like this. id miss my piano but yeh
this is make for the tech-o crowds
MK3 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hector was off his nut (entertaining) but c'mon this guy has way more skill
Did anyone else the horrible high pitches digital noise starting at 6:44?
Any interested buyer should contact
I don't like that poppy clicky kick sound. I noticed this is apparent on this and the monotribe. Can you get a more ballsy kick out of it? more like a thump than a click. This all sounds like clicks and pops to me.
Defo can get huge kicks out of it
Why is all elektron gear so un-userfriendly??
BRING BACK HECTOR!
only one limit though: 64 step sequencer is ridiculous.
128 steps is a the minimum and that's why most of machines out there just are gnah.
LXR instead
@Donal Finn All of their current products have trig conditions though, which essentially extends the sequencer to 512 step. Sadly, not on the machinedrum or monomachine though.
Use the Song Mode... then you can have a 12,800 step pattern... 🤷🏼♂️
I dig its quality, but so grey, so complicated, so experimental sounding, so expensive, I hope it comes with a decent snarelike snare.
its new aphex twin sound element on his albums after syro...i can hear it
but its kinda puffy and pillowy.i can hear the 12 bit cool but its not old drum machines kinda thin punchy sound
B.N.I BOY SIDDOWN
idk man, seems cool, but i hear an awful lot of aliasing in this video.
lol, its from all the bit reduction effects he put on the samples.
I can do some of that with a simple volca sample 100quid
All I see is someone randomly pushing buttons and it sounds smart.
That's probably because you aren't a professional musican/producer.
TheLT ?????
TOO BAD ITS FUCKING $3000
This dude turns me off on Elektron gear. Every unit he demos, he somehow manages to make it sound shitty.
But I don't want an Octatrack. and I don't want to listen to your little concert.
Superior presentation. Should learn to pronounce "parameter." It's not para-meteor. It's param-metter. or param-mutter.
so where are the drum sounds? all i hear is shitty noises!!!
thats where you would tame the sounds an shape them in the way you want
+frejgun True, if you want to use it as a regular drum machine and don't want to go wild with the tweakage, you can.
