      Agree. It’s nice to hear about people’s thought process. And what they like and don’t like about their gear. I always like to hear about the stuff people don’t like about a piece of gear cause you can never get that in a review - you actually have to sit down and play it!

    I keep coming back to this, it has to be the most unique and interesting demo of the Machinedrum I've ever heard. It really captures the spirit of the box - that it's so much more than a drum machine.

    Hyde knows wtf he's doing. I've had an OT mkII sitting in its box since April, because I'm afraid of its complexity (I knew it was complex before I bought it, but damn.) What he said about having to get inside of the Elektron mindset made perfect sense (I think this is why there's a pretty loyal Elektron user culture.) Ergo, time to put in the work. It won't cook me breakfast, and it won't teach me how to use it. Thanks--->Joseph. I needed this kick in the ass.

    • @HiGlowie
      @HiGlowie 5 років тому

      Michael Smith I wonder how this compares to an Octatrack in user-friendliness and General sounds?

    • @ubiquitousreverser
      @ubiquitousreverser 4 роки тому +1

      Don’t be afraid. I got into Elektron, through a simpler machine, with a Digitakt.
      But the OT just look at it like an RPG and you get to take it to whatever level you want at whatever pace is best for you, just you have the whole package instead of a smaller portion of options.
      I just learned how to use the sampling and worked on live sequencing and then when I get some groove going I like then I start layering in repeats and I haven’t even got into trig conditions yet. And I’ve owned it for a year.
      So just go for what you want to start on and just enjoy the random weird stuff you can stumble into. It’s not difficult, but it can get deep and really does make you think in a more planned approach and it is intimidating at first if you try and think about it. But exploring it is really just what you should see it as and eventually you’ll discover those songs, sounds, and fresh new bits you were dreaming of creating.

      Mine was over $1500 U.S. that I bought yesterday, sold on it thanks in part to this video and Max Marco’s excellent demos... (mint Mk2 with +drive and upgraded knobs) .. Price was somewhat of a bitter pill to swallow, tempered by the idea that 10+ years from now, it’ll hold its value and maybe even increase.

    Machindrum is far more than a kick, snare and a hat. This is a great synthesizer for a rythmic cold and abstract structures. I love it but I prefer to use it paired with another tool like an analog synth, vintage sampler or a walkman with warm pad on a cassette. It is nice to somehow balance the coldness comming from the MD.
