I totally agree that people who already bought the original game on steam should've got the definitive edition for free, or at least 50% discount. I would love to play the game with the extra QoL, story and gameplay, but dont think its justifiable paying full price for it when I already bought and finished the original one 6 months ago. Will definitely get it if it gets a sale on steam though. Also off topic, but the DQ movie hit perfectly in the feels for fans.
no people that bought dragon quest 11 on ps4 should not get the switch version for free.so you are saying that they should have put in the extra work to add extra quests and an extra boss and people that bought the ps4 version should get the improvements for free how is that fair to the developers.

Even though my first playthrough was Switch version. But looking at the PS4 differences, i didn't mind graphics especially when you get more marriage options, way more post game, and nice little changes like the party following you on the overworld.
I started playing this gm "for free" with the game pass. Only 20h so far and I'm vibing it. It kinda reminds me of Zelda breath of the wilds and old FF.
@@thatguybis1997 So far I have 2 main issues. The music is repetitive. After over 100 fight listening to the same theme it starts to be repetitive and annoying. Also with the open world theme. I switched it to dragon quest 6 theme but there should be more themes for variety. And 2/ In the first 15h I got a lot of companions. But the next 10h I didn't got any new. If the story is 120h and I got all the companions in the first 15h fels kinda rushed and I'll probably will bet bored after a while. Even tho so far I'm collecting the 6 orbs. As someone that owned the original, and that has a good monitor, this visual difference is painfully noticeable for me, might as well just get the SWITCH version, i didnt get a PC to get an uglier ass version
The only real annoyance for me is the clear lack of any AA at all it’s so jaggy even on the highest setting, either you need to play at 4K or force FXAA in the nVidia control panel
What would you say is a good monitor? I own a 27 inch 1440p msi monitor and its not really that big of difference. Its like turning a game from ultra to high, but it still looks good
Played and beat 3ds 200+ hours PS4 Japanese 125 hours Switch Japanese version 200+ hours Switch English version 200+ hours, this is also my first English DQ game since VIII It wasn't just 2d mode that was brought from 3ds, Tickington (yotchi village) was brought over as well, giving more nostalgia to players that have played other DQ games, though it's a bit different from the 3ds version. 3ds version has 2d and 3d modes depending on what your game is set to, which is a seamless transition in 3ds version. You play the areas from the old games based on the graphics from the original versions (3 is the mobile version graphics and 8 is the 3ds version graphics) I recommend it personally if you can't read Japanese and want the full experience. I couldn't bring myself to complete the PS4 version without the extras after playing and beating it on 3ds personally. Currently replaying on my dragon quest XI 2ds LL. Haven't done the switch exclusive boss on English switch version yet, but I have completed everything else.
I adore dragon quest. I always have, it’s my favorite franchise. I cannot praise the games enough, in my opinion Dragon Quest proves Turn Based Combat is still going strong, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it
Back in the day I avoided turn-based games/ RPG's. I thought they seemed boring. Then in 1999 I decided to try out "Legend of Legaia", and I loved it. Later came FFX, FFVIII, FFIX, and finally got to FFVII. These days, I love turn-based combat; the Persona series, Dragon Quest XI, and DQXIS. I would love to try older DQ games. I loved VIII. But, I never even knew 9 and 10 existed until E3 showcased XI 2 years ago (almost 3). In short (I know, too late), I agree. I feel like turn-based has evolved to feel both fresh and old school (see classic) at the same time.
Installed this from game pass not really expecting much out of it and only installed it for something to do, 18hrs later, I'm kinda hooked. I'd probably still be playing away had I not got a headache from staring at my TV screen all day 😂
it makes sense to try it on game pass than buy dragon quest 11 s on steam or other platform's but playing threw an entire rpg like dragon quest 11 on game pass is a waste of money. it can take months if not longer to win the game. i bought it on steam much cheaper in the long run that way vs game pass.
Really nice and informative video!! After finishing the definitive version with only 170+ hours I can say that this is one of the best jrpgs out there. Definitely worth all those sleepless nights.
jesus christ buddy, 170 hours ? you probably knocked out all the side quest as well ay ? how long is the main quest ya reckon ? if its 170 hours its gonna go deeper into my backlog hahaha
What is great is that everyone gets xp, not only the ones who won the battle. The story makes you play with everyone, and you discover cool features for each of them. How many rpg you ended up with one very strong team (that you used all the game) and very low level characters, that you almost never used. I'm playing that ultimate edition, and it's a blast. I am only a few fights away from the end, and went above 200 hours. 2D is fun but early on I had to do things again in 3D. So I didn't switched that much. It's really fun to collect everything, and craft everything too. I have fond memories of DQ 8, and XI went above and beyond.
I got it for christmas. If it wasn't for all my finals, I'd already have finished this big boy. Right now, I only got to play 3-4 hours, but they were beautiful. It really feels like I'm a kid again, playing Dragon Quest 8 on my PS2.
Yes I suggest it 100%. It's not a grind heavy game. I did minimal grinding and was still able to beat the final boss. You'll need to grind if you want to do the post game content though. There are no mandatory fetch quests. Only some of the side quests have any kind of fetching an item.
@@Sirg17x Yeah this game is more casual friendly then past Dragon Quest Games. Especially the older games. They require much more grinding. Like I had to spend the first like hour and a half grinding in the first dungeon of Dragon Quest 5 cause it was kicking my ass too hard. This was the beginning of the game too.
This is my first time ever playing Dragon Quest. I’m mind blown by how optimal and beautiful it runs on the PC! I’m spending this whole day playing this gem! 🤘🏻❤️
Just so people are aware. Nintendo helped fund and publish the Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest XI. Which is why it was exclusive to Switch for a period of time. So yes the version on Xbox Series X/PS4/Stadia are just slightly uprezzed versions of the Switch release.
I can't believe I just fell in love with this game. I have always hated turn-based games. I tried this game twice and deleted it after a few hours because it was too damn boring. I started playing Yakuza Like A Dragon Sunday and I am actually loving it even though its a turn-based rpg. Just because Ichiban kept talking about Dragon Quest it made me download this game again, and now that I've put in a few hours and reached level 15 and just added Serena and Veronica into my party this game is too fun. I am shocked that I have found 2 turn-based rpgs that I actually like in less than a week because I have never found any turn-based game even remotely fun except a couple Final Fantasy games that I played. Now that I'm loving Dragon Quest and Like A Dragon maybe I will give Gears Tactics another chance which is another turn-based game that I downloaded on GamePass twice and played for around 30 minutes each time before I decided I hated it and deleted it twice.
The DE is awesome simply because of the symphonic music and 4 times the speed to speed up grinding. One more hour. Lol! Yeah! 😁👌🏽 It’s the RPG King and comfort food.
Honestly, I mainly want it just for the option of wearing anything you want, but still wearing the best armour. And for the option of running in the open world with your party. And a very small part because you can get together with Jade...
The S version of the game is more meant for a console release. They made the S as optimization for the switch, then they backported to all platforms to allow better Framerate, for example, DQ11 Ran 1080p30 FPS 1080p on PS4 while the 11S 1080p60 FPS.
Imo, If you don't mind slightly worse graphics, get definitive edition. It has a whole lot more to offer, including a really cool secret boss that I'm not going to spoil here, with the expeption of the accolade that rewards you for a quick kill, the quick kill is 99 moves or under. I have well over 1,000 hours on my switch and I'm still in love with this game
Tbh, I want to experience the new content added in the Definitive Edition (As there is some new story stuff and more) but I think I'm going to wait for the DE to go on sale or hopefully be added as a DLC for the original version, I've beaten DQ11 twice now, first one was a casual blind playthrough and the second one was a playthrough on Hard Mode which also became a 100% playthrough, I personally would buy it alone just for the orchestrated soundtrack, as someone who grow up with Dragon Quest 8 and 9, I really felt like the soundtrack was lacking for DQ11, that's not just because it was synthesized, I feel like there isn't much soundtrack in this game, I feel like I'm hearing the same theme over and over and it's not because I'm accidentally getting into monster encounters because I fight literally everything and everyone I see, it's because I feel like the game needed a lot more original music in it to liven things up a bit more, aside from that though, DQ11 is a brilliant game
How do you manage to get thru the Horse Racing? That is the only problem I have in the original PS4 one. I also got the DE version to see if it is easier. I'm laughing that you had 120 hours in it for I have 523 hours and still enjoy playing it. I remember playing the DQ series since Dragon Warrior 1. I didn't want to marry anyone in the first game. My favorite was Erik and Little Red(Veronica)
@@TheFloodFourm I understand your sentiment. The mmo lite questiness and grind of RPGs is such a turn off of the genre for me. This game looks beautiful, but the last RPG I played I got 10 hours in. Quit for a few months came back and had no clue what was going on so I just stopped playing. I hate to say it, but as an adult I relish games that cut the fat and get to the point. If I can beat it in a few sittings or it is very hop in hop out 10 to 15 min bites of content then it's up my alley. I fear this adversion to long games will only solidify when eventually having kids.
I bought DQ11 a while ago but hadn’t had the opportunity to play it, yet. Now there’s the definitive edition out. Should I get it or stick to the original release? What’s your recommendation?
@@thatguybis1997 Thanks! I've decided to do just that. If I love the game and want to replay it, I can still double-dip (especially when it well be even cheaper than it is now). So far, I'm loving it. I think Dragon Quest ironically works as a great companion piece to Final Fantasy. Playing DQ 8 while also playing FF12 was a great experience back in 2008.
The thing about the graphics is that in the Steam version you can just mod the game to look much better. That's what I did. Must've taken me somewhere between 1 and 2 hours to find everything I needed, read instructions to understand what I'm doing and then play. 100% worth it. Can't say it was the most intuitive process, though. Someone who's never modded a game before might need more time than I to really 'get it'. But it's essentially downloading all (or most) mods from Project Rebuild (I used Vortex, the official NexusMods mod manager, which makes the installation of said mods very straightforward), downloading the preset Engine.ini that already makes recommended changes to the game's graphics, putting that file in the correct folder, and then following the instructions to fine tune the file to your own computer and preferences.
can you perhaps help me I have downloaded the 4 k mod however every time I restart the game the 4 k mod is disabled so I get no upscaling until I reenable it. is their a file I have to change so it stays in 4k thank you for your time.
Thanks for saving me from spending money! I have the original on PC but haven't played it yet. I will just play through that instead of wasting money on the DE.
First Dragon Quest game I’ve ever played and I’ve been enjoying it. One of the few disappointments for me has been the music. Specifically, the over world music and the city music… no matter what part of the word you are in the over world music stay the same and gets very repetitive.. same when you are in a city.. basically same music for ever city. Missed opportunity to give each region and each city a little more unique of an experience.
Great review, subbed. Something weird about DQ11, after 20 hours I haven't been challenged, set your party up, go into battle and hit auto, BAM! You win, rinse and repeat about 1 million times, so I got bored and stopped, but there's something about it, the characters, the story etc that sticks with you and so I went back. It's very good, but be ready for a GRIND! Also the music is brilliant but it gets repetitive really fast.
well that is because you didn't do that battles yourself you let the computer do it so that will be more boring. also their are setting like tougher monsters if you had turned that on i guarantee after a few hours of playing you wouldn't be able to just breeze threw the game. that being said rpgs are not for everyone not everyone will like every single game. dragon quest 11 is my first dragon quest game. i bought it twice once on ps4 and once on steam with the added switch content.
I didn't understand. You said the DE is the best bang for buck but if you played the original it's not worth it. So what is different in the DE other than the 2D and skins?
There are quality of life improvements. You can fast forward through battles, fun size forge has been reworked, and the soundtrack has been completely overhauled. If you haven’t played the game before, just get the definitive version. If you already have played, it’s really not worth repurchasing
DQXIS is a game that let me take a break from Persona and Zelda stuff. Then, I become one as well. Also, while I like ENG dubs, but Japanese dub is definitely better for me because of familiar JP voice actors from Animes and Video games. Like Erik’s JP voice actor is Roxas and Ventus from Kingdom Hearts and Miyamura from Horimiya. Serena’s JP voice actor is Kasumi Yoshizawa which is pretty ironic because *SPOILERS FROM P5R* and Aqua from Konosuba. Jasper’s JP voice actor is Cloud Strife from FFVII, and Martina/Jade’s JP voice actor is Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill, Yukiko from Persona 4, Kallen from Code Geass, and so on.
I hate the fact that they make the definitive edition a full price for those who already own the original. They should have made it either free or make it as an add on. Nonetheless, the game is so good and addicting.
I don't care about the graphics in an video game. That's not what's important. And while the S Definitive Version isn't as pretty as PS4, I didn't mind it since it still looks great and doesn't suffer any lag from time to time like the PS4 has. For me, the S Definitive Version has more features, contents & improvements from the PS4, which makes it the " definitive " version of playing Dragon Quest 11. Plus u can play on handheld and go wherever you want. How can u not like that?
I bought it to have the Japanese voices as I just play the original with no voice acting and never finish it , so Japanese voice acting is 100 percent the reason to get it
Great shorter take on things. You really went into detail for an under 5 minute video! Though I have to disagree with 1:56, I can _definitely_ see a pretty large difference there lol. Subbed tho, I like these way over the whole rest of the planet and their ''10 minutes and 5 seconds'' long videos! 👍👍👍
I have the original PS4 version of this game and I really enjoy it but I wanted to upgrade for better music and the 2D game. So, I bought the S version for PS4 but I think I’ll be returning it for 2 reasons: 1) I can’t agree more that this should have been a free upgrade - many other studios are doing these types of upgrades for free and 2) you can’t transfer your save to the new one. Why? I have almost 40 hours dumped into the original and the thought of doing it again just so I can have some quality of life and music upgrades honestly makes me shudder. Great video though lol.
I thought the original version day one and loved every minute of it. I'm highly interested in this special edition but I'm only going to buy it at a discounted price.
To me, the catch is that the most intriguing parts seem to be 60 hours into the game. I was ready to be done with the game, but am all in on the "post game". (Really, if there's 30 hours of the game left, I shouldn't have seen an end credits)
I had the og dq11 on ps4 and got just past gondolia and was heading towards the ruins of dundrasil I think(don't know how far into the game that is?) but I stopped. I would have liked the extras in s but don't know wether it's worth it to buy as I'm not sure how long was left or if the extras would make that much difference.
This comes a little late, but you are about 50% done with Act 1. There are three acts in total, the last of which is a continuation of the story after the end credits scene (it's just as meaty as Act 1 and 2, though!).
I normally dislike JRPG games. Especially turn based games in general. But for some reason this game has sucked me in. It's a fantastic game and I love the art style. Definitely worth getting. I haven't played one since maybe part 2.
The ONLY flaw of this Dragon Quest was the music..... So forgettable and boring. And it surprised me cause this franchise is ALWAYS brilliant on its soundtrack
I had the original release and spent about 13 hours. The definitive edition is interesting but, as you said, it should have been dlc or a free upgrade. Interestingly I found out you can’t transfer your save file into the new version. I thought I could continue where I left off but no, I can’t.
Everytime I see a jrpg I'm like, I wana play it. But then when I see that it takes 100+ hrs, I question if I should. My backlog is just insane at this point and I will never get to finish even half of the games I wana play.
Honestly, this is one of those games that you keep coming back to every once in awhile until you get hooked enough to finish it. I can understand having too much in your backlog, but this is one adventure you don’t want to miss.

If you play the Definitive Edition on PC at 4k resolution, it's actually the best looking version of DQ11. You'll need a semi-decent GPU though. I have a 5700XT and it does drop to 50-55 fps at times. It's so worth it though - I have never seen DQ11 look better!
i disagree 5 dollars would be a ripoff for dragon quest 11 s it includes an extra boss and extra quests along with a 2 d mode. keep in mind that this is the game ported from the switch if you have at lest a halfway decent rig you not notice the difference between switch version and ps4 version. if you do notice a deffrence their are mods that can fix that just takes a little bit of work.
There are some quality of life improvements that you’ll be missing out on, the biggest one in my opinion is the MIDI soundtrack that’s in the original in place of the orchestrated soundtrack for the definitive version.

Square Enix is cheap AF! could have easily gave the original ps4 and PC versions a huge update patch like 8 to 9GB to add the new S contents so to keep the original better graphics and all, you know like what they did with World of Final Fantasy where the original ps4 and the PC version got the Maxima upgrade via update patch ( even though it's a paid DLC ) but nope! you have to buy the game again with an inferior graphics to have these contents on the ps4.... makes me wonder.. do the trophies on the ps4 original version stacks with the S? or do the S have a separate trophy list?

0:32 “Even though the main character/protagonist in the Dragon Quest series has never had a voice actor.” DQXI is the first main game in the series to give its Hero a voice actor.
I think it should be emphasized that this game was made with a specific demographic in mind. Either you are a loyal Dragon Quest fans, Classic JRPG fans that love classic turn based combat a lot that you never consider other system and the rather basic story about saving the world. The story has great ideas and potentials, yet the pacing will bore you if you are not used to this kind of storytelling. It's not slow burn, for many people it will be a very nice nostalgic feeling for the first 10 hours. Then starting to be quite a challenge afterwards but still enjoyable. The middle chapter will bore most people though. Look I get why many people and reviewers give this game a very high score. They do basic things really well and strike you with a great dose of nostalgia. But many of those reviews also mentions that this is a 'perfect' game that will helps if you have insomnia or to relax after hard days so you can sleep well. I find myself literally sleeping while playing this many times, especially after the mid chapter. The characters are basic too, sometimes a lot of them are annoying, the dialogue is not that well written, the soundtrack is just like 10 tracks and you will hear them over and over and over. The enemy type? Well they are really innovative with renaming and re-colouring a lot of the monsters.
Dragonquest 11 on Steam was the first dragonquest I've ever played. I can't confirm that the characters are well made though. They feel like either empty shells or over the top stereotypes. They are flat, simple and their character lacks any complexity, just like the story of the game. The whole game feels more like its aimed at really young children. Don't get me wrong, its not a "bad game". You can play it casually but it's like watching a kids cartoon for really young children because there is just nothing else on the TV.

no people that bought dragon quest 11 on ps4 should not get the switch version for free.so you are saying that they should have put in the extra work to add extra quests and an extra boss and people that bought the ps4 version should get the improvements for free how is that fair to the developers.
I think this is the game you used to play on stream that I thought was really relaxing to watch, lol. Waiting for a chess review.......
I happened to download the demo this week.
I must say for a demo I was very pleasantly surprised.
I was able to play for 14 hours.
That's a full game in this day and age!
That graphic difference really isn’t that noticeable it’s a small price to pay if you ask me.
Agreed. I genuinely didn't notice that there was a difference. For the extra content, XI S is the version to go with.
Stfu Mario go save peach and get off youtube
@@thatguybis1997 nah I don't support this , that's why I'm going to get the original DQ XI, screw the extra other content, if I was o switch I wouldn't mind, but being a ps4 user I don't accept this
@@wilsonbsoundz yeah and you enjoy the slow pace combat
@Dbz I Do You i dont understand why a game gets re-released in a ultimate version on a console and gets downgraded on that SAME console.
Even though my first playthrough was Switch version.
But looking at the PS4 differences, i didn't mind graphics especially when you get more marriage options, way more post game, and nice little changes like the party following you on the overworld.
The best part is that graphics never made a huge difference for me, yeas other consoles are nice, but they all have an amazing story to tell
I started playing this gm "for free" with the game pass. Only 20h so far and I'm vibing it. It kinda reminds me of Zelda breath of the wilds and old FF.
Prepare yourself for an epic journey!
I'm at notre dame academy, idk how far in the story I am.
It's basically like DQ VIII but better.
Same. Started playing it on a whim through gamepass on Series X. It looks beautiful.
@@legoyaddle1508 that's why i would switch to Dq8 map theme or alternate between the themes between my gameplay
Or use headphones to listen to other DQ music while exploring or grinding
As someone that owned the original, and that has a good monitor, this visual difference is painfully noticeable for me, might as well just get the SWITCH version, i didnt get a PC to get an uglier ass version
I bet it’s definitely worse than what I had noticed.
Its like turning a game from ultra to high, but it still looks good
Is it actually painful? Like, actually? I might feel that, but as a grown-up I have actual painful shit to deal with.
Are you sure you weren't playing the optional 2D mode?
DQXIS is the definitive edition.
PS4: And I took that personally.
Played and beat
3ds 200+ hours
PS4 Japanese 125 hours
Switch Japanese version 200+ hours
Switch English version 200+ hours, this is also my first English DQ game since VIII
It wasn't just 2d mode that was brought from 3ds, Tickington (yotchi village) was brought over as well, giving more nostalgia to players that have played other DQ games, though it's a bit different from the 3ds version.
3ds version has 2d and 3d modes depending on what your game is set to, which is a seamless transition in 3ds version. You play the areas from the old games based on the graphics from the original versions (3 is the mobile version graphics and 8 is the 3ds version graphics)
I recommend it personally if you can't read Japanese and want the full experience.
I cannot praise the games enough, in my opinion Dragon Quest proves Turn Based Combat is still going strong, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it
I miss the psych up system from dragon quest VIII though, I will say that.
@@thatguybis1997 agreed
@@ResFantasyfan turn based are my favorite, I won’t lie it’s the reason I dropped Final Fantasy and won’t pick up the 7 remake

DQXIS is JRPG in perfection 😔👌
Hopefully DQ12 is sooner rather than later
What is great is that everyone gets xp, not only the ones who won the battle. The story makes you play with everyone, and you discover cool features for each of them.
How many rpg you ended up with one very strong team (that you used all the game) and very low level characters, that you almost never used.
I'm playing that ultimate edition, and it's a blast. I am only a few fights away from the end, and went above 200 hours. 2D is fun but early on I had to do things again in 3D. So I didn't switched that much. It's really fun to collect everything, and craft everything too.
I have fond memories of DQ 8, and XI went above and beyond.
Well :)
Knowing Square Enix it'll take another 10 years lol
I got it for christmas. If it wasn't for all my finals, I'd already have finished this big boy. Right now, I only got to play 3-4 hours, but they were beautiful. It really feels like I'm a kid again, playing Dragon Quest 8 on my PS2.
3:17 Stop it, you're literally calling me out as I'm playing Dragon Quest 11 at 1:00 AM. How are you doing that?
Hahaha been there done that my friend
Love the art style, but for those who are not fans of the grindiness and mmo lite fetch questiness of RPGs would you still suggest this game?
Yes I suggest it 100%. It's not a grind heavy game. I did minimal grinding and was still able to beat the final boss. You'll need to grind if you want to do the post game content though. There are no mandatory fetch quests. Only some of the side quests have any kind of fetching an item.
@@omegashenron8 Might have to give it a shot. Haven't played a Dragon Quest game since Dragon Warrior Monsters on my gameboy.
@@Sirg17x Yeah this game is more casual friendly then past Dragon Quest Games. Especially the older games. They require much more grinding. love the music in dragon quest!
It’s relaxing!
I just wish that there was more than one battle song. It gets very old after 120+ hours.
@@tomminogue7023 I do remember beginning to hate the battle theme not gonna lie lol
You should try Persona 5, too. One of the few turn based modern jrpg's I can stand.
A genre I didn't think I would like is tactics RPGS then started playing Disgaea
I wanted to ask why every reviewer names the Luminary as "Trunks", but I know the answer to that question myself.

Overall it is a great game and I agree with your points in this video
I can’t wait for DQXII
The DE is awesome simply because of the symphonic music and 4 times the speed to speed up grinding. One more hour. Lol! Yeah! 😁👌🏽 It’s the RPG King and comfort food.
Honestly, I mainly want it just for the option of wearing anything you want, but still wearing the best armour. And for the option of running in the open world with your party. And a very small part because you can get together with Jade...
I really do love the clothes customization too but is there a new game plus on this and if so how does it go
The S version of the game is more meant for a console release. They made the S as optimization for the switch, then they backported to all platforms to allow better Framerate, for example, DQ11 Ran 1080p30 FPS 1080p on PS4 while the 11S 1080p60 FPS.
For turn base combat frames don't really matter
Imo, If you don't mind slightly worse graphics, get definitive edition. It has a whole lot more to offer, including a really cool secret boss that I'm not going to spoil here, with the expeption of the accolade that rewards you for a quick kill, the quick kill is 99 moves or under. I have well over 1,000 hours on my switch and I'm still in love with this game
It's on psplus extra now, and I just bought the Switch version... So which one should I play? Switch or PS5 🤔
It took 120 hours to complete it as well, now I just got it again on Steam and will give it another go.
Also.... you can Marry Jade.... because NO ONE LIKES YOU GEMMA!
So I just recently started playing vanilla dq 11. If I bought the definitive version online would it upgrade it like street fighter did or no
It would not upgrade. Then you’d have two different versions of the game
We’re officially at the point where “120 hours” is just a deterrent. All I hear is filler content and time wasting.
I hear where you're coming from. I took a loooong break from this game before coming back to finish it. But hey, I still enjoyed the journey overall.
@@thatguybis1997 I'm glad your enjoyed it. Theres definatly a market for it still so it might just be me.
I for one relish a game with lots to do. God knows it’s better than the short shitty shovelware of the 360 and ps3 days
@kollie79 that's how I feel. The side content was awesome and the benefits from doing them. It totally worth it
@@TheFloodFourm I understand your sentiment.
Oof, that's a tough one. Honestly if you already bought the game, I say stick with the original.
@@fgdj2000 You really can't go wrong with either series!
Am I missing out on any story for playing the base game, I have a save with 146 hours but haven't finished the story yet.
I bought DQ IX tieme ago, ienjoyed a lot, but when i played i didn't had mates/characters following me, if i reinstall the game there is an upgrade?
First Dragon Quest game I’ve ever played and I’ve been enjoying it. One of the few disappointments for me has been the music. Specifically, the over world music and the city music… no matter what part of the word you are in the over world music stay the same and gets very repetitive.. same when you are in a city.. basically same music for ever city. Missed opportunity to give each region and each city a little more unique of an experience.
So the question is, do I need to play any other game of the series? This would be my first dragon quest, looks so cool tbh
You do not. It’s like final fantasy, they’re all separate games from one another
@@thatguybis1997 ok cool thx
Great review, subbed. Something weird about DQ11, after 20 hours I haven't been challenged, set your party up, go into battle and hit auto, BAM! You win, rinse and repeat about 1 million times, so I got bored and stopped, but there's something about it, the characters, the story etc that sticks with you and so I went back. It's very good, but be ready for a GRIND! Also the music is brilliant but it gets repetitive really fast.
I do remember getting really tired of the battle theme, I won’t lie.
stop hitting auto, thats why you are bored, you literally are not playing.
Try hard mode don't over grind.
well that is because you didn't do that battles yourself you let the computer do it so that will be more boring. also their are setting like tougher monsters if you had turned that on i guarantee after a few hours of playing you wouldn't be able to just breeze threw the game. that being said rpgs are not for everyone not everyone will like every single game. dragon quest 11 is my first dragon quest game. i bought it twice once on ps4 and once on steam with the added switch content.
"one more hour, one more hour." this was literally just me. Now I'm even watching videos about the game 😂
Only 10h more content. But on a otherwise 100h journey, not worth it indeed.
My first dq game besides builders 1 and 2 is 11. I feel like I should have started with older ones. Thank you builders for opening my eyes
but the performance must've been increased right? i remember the base ps4 kinda chugs a bit sometimes
I don't think there is a performance difference iirc
I didn't feel that at all, minus load times. But I installed DE on to my PS5, and I can't even read the load screen tips fast enough now.
Should I buy dragon quest or monster hunter rise
Only buy Monster Hunter if you have friends that also want to play. Otherwise, I’d say buy Dragon Quest.

That’s probably for the best
Yup, the extra content is just about 10h anyway, beside 2d mode, but most people arent really interested in that.
If you have an xbox it is on game pass. So you it don't cost you anything.
I still want a Console Remaster of DQVIII
To me, the catch is that the most intriguing parts seem to be 60 hours into the game. I was ready to be done with the game, but am all in on the "post game". (Really, if there's 30 hours of the game left, I shouldn't have seen an end credits)
This game only took me 47 hours to beat how did you get to 126?
I have the original version, can I save my profile and transfer it to this version ?
Everytime I see a jrpg I'm like, I wana play it. But then when I see that it takes 100+ hrs, I question if I should. My backlog is just insane at this point and I will never get to finish even half of the games I wana play.

If you play the Definitive Edition on PC at 4k resolution, it's actually the best looking version of DQ11. You'll need a semi-decent GPU though. I have a 5700XT and it does drop to 50-55 fps at times. It's so worth it though - I have never seen DQ11 look better!

I had Dragon quest 8 and loved it. Bought DQ 11 and enjoyed it. But this makes you pay 40 bucks for what should be a 5dollar DLC is just wrong.
i disagree 5 dollars would be a ripoff for dragon quest 11 s it includes an extra boss and extra quests along with a 2 d mode. keep in mind that this is the game ported from the switch if you have at lest a halfway decent rig you not notice the difference between switch version and ps4 version. if you do notice a deffrence their are mods that can fix that just takes a little bit of work.

could have easily gave the original ps4 and PC versions a huge update patch like 8 to 9GB to add the new S contents so to keep the original better graphics and all, you know like what they did with World of Final Fantasy where the original ps4 and the PC version got the Maxima upgrade via update patch ( even though it's a paid DLC )
but nope! you have to buy the game again with an inferior graphics to have these contents on the ps4.... makes me wonder.. do the trophies on the ps4 original version stacks with the S?
or do the S have a separate trophy list?
Allegedly the visuals are worse because all they did was port the 3DS version. They did not add a 2D mode to the better versions.

Agreed. Plot and characters sucks. Childish... Such a pity.
So what was the catch?
I should be getting it in the mail today.
is it 60 fps
120 hours? But how much was that non repetitive?
I always loved Dragon Warriors: Monsters. Wish they did another like that :(
I’m buying it soon. Looks fun.
It’s good fun I can promise you that
This looks so really cool I hope I buy this before dq12 release
Dragonquest 11 on Steam was the first dragonquest I've ever played. I can't confirm that the characters are well made though. They feel like either empty shells or over the top stereotypes. They are flat, simple and their character lacks any complexity, just like the story of the game. The whole game feels more like its aimed at really young children. Don't get me wrong, its not a "bad game". You can play it casually but it's like watching a kids cartoon for really young children because there is just nothing else on the TV.
I’m on 110 hours on DQ: Treasures
About to do my 2nd replay through DQ11
I have DQ11 on ps4, and I had to buy this for the switch lol.. so I have 2 copies😂
But then again.. I have something like 16 different DQ games physical copy and a bunch of DQ toys and stuff lol
Don’t ask
One more thing.. I’m still holding my breath for a rerelease of DQ8 and I’m so mad Covid got DQX English canceled/postponed.
So tired of explaining to people why I have 1-9&11 😂
