Nice, I'm building a small ultralight and I can relate to the shop mess, high humidity, and working on things all day. I'd like to also add that my house has lots of swarf here and there that gets tracked in from outside. 😁
You should use some blue machinist dye and spray it and then block sand it. Then bump out the low spots, then hand file it and block sand it flat. But i suppose you could also use filler.
