I voted yes on the poll do I'm glad to see this video but I do don't realise you would upload it so quickly! 🙌 Do you think this would work with Quorn mince and veg stock?🤔
Hema Alam absolutely! 😁👍 I have used Quorn in the past ❤️
@@WhatsForTea Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely try it out!
@@WhatsForTea Lovely recipe, but can I make it without a slow cooker?
@@gordanazakula4927 Of course! :) Here's a link to my stove top version... ua-cam.com/video/DGoD4WiYPqk/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching x
I make this with vegan mince its delicious!
We call mince here in Hispanic (Mexican American) households "picadillo". We cook ground beef with whatever veggie you have on hand. Add garlic, onion, cumin tomato sauce. Served soupy alongside with beans and Mexican rice. And of course; flour tortillas ! Im so glad I stumbled onto your videos. Love watching how families eat and live in other countries.
Yum 😋
Just came across your video. I've recently gone on the carnivore diet and am always looking for easy meat recipes. I remember mince n tatties well but never thought about doing in the slow cooker! That is going to be so useful, thank you so much. And then up came the pictures of Dunure! I can't tell you how many wonderful memories they brought up for me :) our family used to spend whole days on that beach searching for agates to put in the tumble polisher, I still have some of the stones my Mum kept. I had a very special one my Dad found, but sadly lost it in Ireland some years ago. I'm 71 now, still love stones and will be so happy to do mince in my slow cooker (minus the veg, lol!). What to you was a wee short video turned out to be something very precious for me. Thank you very much.
Memory's are everything
My grandmother used to make this back in the early 1950's in Edinburgh . There is a real butcher in the village here in Western Australia and the meat and mince is also so outstanding that even I cannot make a mess of it. Turnip hard to get here but the basic mince and tatties (+carrots and onions} is so easy to make and still taste awfy braw. Loved the photos especially of Brodick. Beaches are a wee bit different here however.

"Your Stovies" took me back to the days of my youth, 'pure dead brilliant.
Made it yesterday.
Thankyou so much! 🍺
Great stuff, really helpful, single bloke, on his own..
Thanx again...
Looks amazing. My favorite kind of recipes. Easy, comfort food. :) I love all the pictures at the end too!
As much as I love watching What's For Tea I have to use the captions at times, and the interpretation of this lady's Scottish accent is funny.
I have subtitles on when watching TV and yes, the interpretations can be highly amusing.
I am so happy I stumbled on all of these recipes from #What’s for tea. I’m a single girl that works so many hours and these quick and easy recipes are perfect! Not to mention they sound so delicious!! Thank you Thank you 😊
The kids always love this. I was raised on these kinds of meals. Thank you for sharing slow cooker tips 🥰.
Thank you for the recipes. This looks wonderful!
It looks delicious. I will try this. Thank you for sharing.
I made a big pot of this last night as I dont have a slow cooker and froze portions for dinners and lunches. I ate some today. Absolutely magic.
I can’t wait to try this recipe. I’m from the states but I found out I have a lot of Scottish in me. I’m very interested in the recipes. Loved the pictures!
My absolute favorite! We had this a lot growing up in Invercargill, we were a family of 6, so it was the best for filling hungry tummies! I've improved on mum's recipe, but I still keep it pretty simple, and my kids love it too! 😊😍
Made this last night and my husband loved it. My son was skeptical but then cleared his plate. I will make it again. Thank you for the recipe.
Looks delishes.Thank you for sharing your vlog from Michelle in Australia

Good old bisto gravy granules! :-). I have always made my beef mints this way with a couple extra seasonings. Love it!
I made this in my slow cooker - so easy! But also incredibly tasty! Had it with crushed new potatoes and some broccoli. Its going to become a regular meal I think...perfect for cooler evenings.
Hello from the states! Boston Mass! I love your channel, I can’t wait to make this for my family!
Thanks Felecia :) Let me know if you make it and what you thought of it! Thanks for watching.
We used to have this at least once a week when I was a kid. My favourite. Would rather have this then steak.
Looks amazing I am going to try this - what type of bisto did you use, the regular gravy granules or the best bisto gravy?
I'm in Australia.
Just bought a slowcooker and mince an' tatties was my first thought.
Off to the butcher to get some mince and off I go.
Thank you 🤗
Looking so tasty, thanks for this recipe 😀
I made this today and it was so tasty I enjoy watching your videos .
I'm thrilled to bits about your great recipe. It's a classic all over the UK and Ireland. I highly recommend that you buy excellent beef, as Chery saiys, from your local butcher. My neighborhood in San Diego just got a real butcher shop for the first time in 35 years. The old is new again !
Just done the mince your way, didn't break it up right away, really enjoyed it, much much better. X
Basic food is always the best . Thank you
Now that's what I call "comfort food". :)

so simple! Will try this one next week. thanks for taking the time to make the vid..
Excellent instructions, made this today and came out awesome. Realy winter warmer food. Blessed
Looks wonderful
This is a favourite dish here in Canada Also, Its a classic. The problem with Bisto & Oxo together is the salt content. When I make mine, I typically use Bisto only then add Cornstarch or Arrowroot as an additional thickener, this way I am not introducing more salt which I don't want. If its not enough salt, I add it when serving myself. I noticed a lot of your cooking is similar or the same as we do things here also. I love your Videos, the remind me of the foods Dad use to make us & have gone back to eating much of these meals mostly due to cost effectiveness & with food prices on the rise, these just make better sense & we always felt good & nourished too :) Thanks for the videos :) Subscribed
I've got this in my slow cooker right now, 2 hours to go. Thanks!
How did it go? :) x
Heading into winter in Australia now so I'll be giving this a go 😋
That still amazes me Deb :) The whole down under thing....fascinating x
cauld
I'm making this for dinner tomorrow. Thanks cheryl.
Classic and simple. Even I do not screw this up. I prefer mine with mashed spuds to soak up the gravy.
Just what I was looking for! What a classic. You get a like and a sub!
I'm just cooking this now. Can't wait for my flat to smell beautiful
Looks delicious... going to have to try this
Richie Nelson 😁👍
This is like what my mom used to make when I was a child. She didn't have a slow cooker back then, so it was done on the stove. It came out amazing like yours has. She always put the peas in about ten or fifteen minutes prior to serving so they would stay bright green. Another version that she made was adding rice to the mix and a can of mushroom soup instead of the thickening. That was one of my favs. My wife doesn't make it that way because she doesn't like mushroom soup. : { If I want it that way, I'll have to make it myself, lol.
I popped over to have a wee look. Yummmmmmmm.
This looks really nice , Iv never though to use a slow cooker to make my mince X
It works out really tender :) brilliant if you're busy for the day....just throw it in, in the Morning and it's ready at tea time. How was your holiday? x
Fab & yummy x x
That is just fantastic.
I'm just off to do mine now! Thanks for the help! Xxx
Mmmm yum yum....I have a small slow cooker..gonna do this...😋👍
Just made this i add some worcester sauce and garlic powder black pepper to my oxo gravy .real scottish cooking 😀

Pauleen Coppock 😁👍
Just come across your video as first time using slow cooker when you cook the mine was it on high / low as I'm going to do what you done thanks
Will try this soon. 🇨🇦❤️
Fantastic, thank you. 👍
Mrs P. and me are having this tomorrow so set it up on the timer to cut in about 9.00. We don't like to hurry in the mornings so by the time we've had a cuppa, shower, brekky read the post etc it'll be on the way...! (We usually about 4.30-5.00pm so that's why it's on early)
I'm surprised you didn't seal the mince in a frying pan - which would've involve breaking it up obviously. I guess we do things differently in the West Country! Oh and we always chop up the spuds and bung them in too, although we think your idea of mash is a better one we'll do that next time. Thankyou! (Lurrrv your accent btw)
Hi Cheryl, I just love all your recipes, tried so many as this was the food I was raised on. I wanted to ask you what you use for beef stock and your gravy? I now live in Canada and I've been using Bistro granules but I can't seem to capture that good Ole flavour Help!!😊
What a lovely lady, and great cook.
Ken Dunure well .. used tae work at a farm just ootside it Dunduff. Had land that went right down to the beach infront of all the fancy houses . Forget the name of the pub now but it was a long time ago . The farmer was called gemmell .

Every oil rig in Invergordon had this laid on 24X7.The Scottie lads cant survive a hitch without their"Munce an tatties".
Some of the lads started complaining in West Africa cause they weren't getting it!
So na scoottie rig boys eh!

Aw fab Jared! :) Thank you!
I immediately thought of mrs doubtfire.

Looking for ground beef in crockpot recipe. This looks good for a ground beef to go in slow cooker/ crockpot.
Good ideas of hot water & gravy. I will try this weekend. What does :whats for tea" mean".? Love your accent....From Colorado USA.
i sometimes mix half or a full tin of mulligatawny soup in some of the mince or cubed beef recipes, to give it a curry hit, plus a little squirt of tomato sauce worth ago if you havent tried it.x
Mmmmmm...looks delicious...😊
Yum!!
Loved it thank you
I am making this tomorrow. Yummy
Aw brilliant :) Did you make it? x
Subscribed, great for me and my nana during lockdown
Making this right now thanks to your video
Lovely simple and very tasty;)
The simple things are usually the best eh? :) x
I've never had this before, but that looks to have most or all of the makings for a meatloaf dinner here in the states... the consistency is a little different but all the flavors are still the same... and I'm sure that mince beef mixture would be great over some sort of buttered pasta or rice, too.
Yum! I would have squash instead of the turnip
