When considering one of these low price old homes always do a Google maps street view search. Some of them are old and cheap because they're in terrible neighborhoods, or 20 feet from a 7 lane highway or crack den. Also, take your estimate to restore and multiple by about 4 and you'll see what it will really cost to move in.
Wow ! Well if the neighborhoods remained intact the houses would have as well. With the extreme rise in the cost of real estate some of these gems may become attractive . Many will never be restored to their former glory..but hey if they are stabilized they survive
Yes i pray they survive we just do not make them like we used to! Coojie cutter neighborhoods fill our cities and rural neighborhoods and we are losing quality and charm. I notice some " Discouraging Debbie Downers" around makes me wonder if they are either hoping to purchase themselves or put up a quick e mart in their locale. I hope we preserve as much history for future generstions to grow up and see what is possibike and be encouraged to think outside tat coojie cutter box of " fast food generatiobs" and be remubded of what has come before . What you see today is not all there is. Although some amazing things are beung done currently in architecture
I agree. And i think people would love to shell out expense on repairs than to let the house sit, unloved and in disrepair, losing money on their investment. Me and a cpl of friends would gladly do so to have a real place to live. Living out of a truck or crashing on others sofas isn't always a good or safe thing to do. I'd love to have one of these to fix up. I just can't afford the payments and the repairs and the bills. But I have access to resources that I can use to fix up.
I live in Danville, VA. The Carter house been bought and renovations are taking place. The city tore down the James house. The Tally house is in better condition than pictured. It was recently bought then the owner sued the city for their money back because the city misrepresented it's condition. I believe, no promises, the Longwell house is still available.
Just finished an 1865 cypress home! It was in excellent original condition structurally speaking. Just needed a lot of TLC....paint and repairs. Plus a new roof!
Haha the cover house is The Robinson Mansion in the New Orleans Garden District near Commander's Palace and St. Charles Avenue. Many millions of dollars 😂
hi Kyle nice video and sad good to hear about the story of the old homes hope someone will fix them up hope you were safe out there 🙏🙏🙏 you do a great job on your videos hope to see more videos ❤️ you thanks for sharing
That first house is a moldy, rotten disaster. You could buy a castle or chateau on many acres in France for less than it would cost to try and repair and restore that money pit home.
Well i believe the point is to entice someone inetested in preserving AMERICAN HISTORY NOT Italian or French History. Also i havecheckrd into the deals they are offering that you must hold and redtore them in and for five years what they dont mention and people do not consider when restoting or preserving historical buildings abroad is the cost of supplies and the fact that they do not have a local Home Depot to run down on the corner for pkadter or nails ec.. I have friends who purvhased a vills and they have spent so much in flying back and forth and shipping the goods needed that should be consideted as eell as infastructure like city services like running water and the availibility of powe which is handy for power tools when restoring historical buildings.... And heat. because you are also required to live thete so many months out of the year in order to get the deal on alot of those properties. So much to consider when renovating and preserving history. No mattervwhere its done.
@@danettewilliams351 yes, you’re absolutely right about all you said. I was just concerned for them and the expense of trying to restore a property that may be an endless expense and frustration. I love restoring old homes and preserving American history. I’m with you on that for sure. Just some properties are so rotted from neglect and the elements, they never recover fully unless they are completely rebuilt with all new everything, then it’s a new house at that point. You’re so right about the local Home Depot’s we’re accustomed to. Whatever problems we have in this Country, I’ll never leave it.
i want to do one so bad! not to flip but to live in. Unfortunately, they always want cash and I don’t have that. I’ve never bought a house before. I have a decent credit and I’ve taken out long in the past but everybody wants cash “as is”
One option with good credit is just a prrsonal loan. Some are cheap enough you could get a personal loan for such a low amount and just invest it back into the home so it will pass a apprisal to refi down the road a bit. non i have done pnre on a much smaller svale but also dream of doing a historical masterpiece!
Exactly! Look for an owner that's selling OWC....which means owner will carry the loan with a large down payment. Most of these older homes can not qualify for a bank loan. Because they can't pass an "underwriters inspection " so they're forced to offer financing usually at a better rate too
Restoring these homes is absurd. There would be nothing original left in them anyways. So it would be better to tear down and replicate them. Also, buying a home in America is the worse idea. You can buy a home in another country for less than the annual property taxes!
you dont sound to enthusiastic about presenting these homes especially the monotone script reading and the same adjectives for every home other then all that the homes were interesting.
Don’t buy an old stickbuilt house in any southern state]. Termite damage and infestation mean shit tons of insecticides after the gut and rehab of every bit of wood. So not worth it.
What an absurd thing to say. Why would it matter to someone who does not cinsider the historical value in such things? Why pop up another cheapky cobstructed pos like ten others down the way? Or 250 others that wont last 30 yrs let alone 100+

He doesn't always give information as to where these homes are. Some areas I wouldn't be interested in no matter what the sales price ends up being.

Some people like their crack dens close. I know this guy hunter who does
Thank for the good advice 🎉
All these homes need a family to love it! We need to preserve our past, can not build a home like these homes today!
Exactly!

The NY one for a super rock-bottom price is my favorite! Keep Orange Crushing It, Kyle!
Mine too thanks so much Tommy🤟🏼
Plenty of homes like that in NY but it’s a high crime area with high property taxes. It’s why I didn’t look at it long.
Yeah but if it's cheap enough to buy for cash then your annual taxes will be way less than annual rent
The first one in Florida is so beautiful
Milton, NC is next to Danville, VA and there’s a race track in Danville so expect a lot of car fumes in either small town.
I'd love to see these featured on HGTV as a before and after.
Haha the cover house is The Robinson Mansion in the New Orleans Garden District near Commander's Palace and St. Charles Avenue. Many millions of dollars 😂

Springfield area in Jacksonville?!? Where does one buy Kevlar wallpaper?
Interested in the house shown for the video as one for less than 80k yet it is not shown. Is that not click bait ?
Derelict home structures
cost too much to fix up
nowadays. Also there in
bad neighborhoods.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😢
I would so Love to repair one of these beautiful properties if I only had the help and the money. 😢
Hey man I just stumbled across your video, wish it was sooner. Iamthefixr very interested in the Victorian in Syracuse...
I am not interested in living in the Southern part of the U.S but I love old homes, they have lots of character and charm. ❤
Hey Kyle what about homes like these in Texas?
If these homes are listed in the historical register they are eligible for funding, correct?
These homes should be rented out to paranormal explorers. 👻
I agree that would be awesome, I’d love to do that
No such thing as haunted houses
Yes!!!
Please let me have some more info about the New York house, please! How can i contact you ?
The 70s/80s furniture and tv in the james house lol
The Talley house in Danville you can see orbs. 15:08, 15:21
Many of these "bargain" houses cost more to repair and renovate than they are worth. Not to mention maintenance costs.
Do you have the listing for the homes
Understanding that these homes would cost a fortune to restore. Especially considering the cost of building materials these days.
How much would it cost for renovations on each home? The narrator only mentioned one home that I know of. ❤
Cheaper to build new
@mikeorosco4787 You have a point but I adore some of these homes. ❤️
I am interested in the Syracuse, NY home…. What do I do to move forward with a purchase?
They're having a buying boom, so prices are currently higher than ever before
Where can we find the listings?
When you go on a site like Redfin, type in the search the word Historic or look for the area where it asks age of the home and type in 75 yrs or older
Also there's a website called CIRCA that specializes in older homes only
Due diligence
Sprawling square foot lot🤣🤣🤣

Isn’t France burning itself alive right now

I like some of those first pictures it looks like they got bombed and ransacked by El bombo

Your property tax comment is true to point fir sure!
I just finished one..
And it's not "modernized" like most rebuilds do. It's amazing restoration too and the talk of the town being built in 1865❤
Pay 50K and Renovation pay $250K.
250 if you do all the work yourself.
Click bait wheres the house on the video title?
you dont sound to enthusiastic about presenting these homes especially the monotone script reading and the same adjectives for every home other then all that the homes were interesting.
Why don’t you explore abandoned anymore? I miss that
It would be cheaper to build new
There is a reason why these gems are low priced, all have major flaws meaning very expensive.
Don’t buy an old stickbuilt house in any southern state]. Termite damage and infestation mean shit tons of insecticides after the gut and rehab of every bit of wood. So not worth it.
Not true...Cypress houses are not eaten by termites and they are highly resistant to water rotting
All these houses were trashed out by white doppers , and black drug
dealers etc. Cost way to
much to repair !!! 😮😮😢
ruin house much rehabilitation
Springfield is a bad neighborhood waste of money
Every home stands as a testament! 😂😂 Learn some new vocabulary
YIKES...
lol lol shows ruins lol byeeeeeee
