Stainless steel doesn't rust like steel... Nor does the paint fade as much either. There are reasons why Via and Amtrak continue to use stainless steel... Amtrak may paint the locomotives, but the Superliner, Viewliner, and Amfleet cars are stainless steel...
Every year as a kid my mom would take me out to the Illinois Railway Museum on Labor Day Weekend, and the Nebraska Zephyr was always my favorite. Great to see that beautiful machine in action.
The Nebraska Zepher has one of the most beautiful engine designs I have seen. I wish they could modify it to be the lead of the new Acela trains....what a knock out they would be...
At 19 minute mark, how did you know timing that the two trains would meet right at that curve allowing you that incredible, dramatic shot? Excellent work.
Thank you for showing those wonderful freight (minus the caboose) and passenger trains. Particularly, in the great Midwestern rail hub, Chicago, which included METRA commuter trains. Does anybody know if the Burlington Northern R.R. is still running commuter trains in Greater Chicagoland?
Awesome awesome stuff! Great to see the Zephyr out on the rails and more great Metra action, and of course, Chesterton is where I rail fan all the time!
Rokon Zaman Actually, this is a very old train which has retired from its service long ago. The Illinois Rail Museum in Union Illinois is home to this train, but yet, this train is ran on special trips at times.
I love the scenes from Hinsdale! I grew up in that area, and used to ride my bike down to the station to watch trains all the time. Thanks for rekindling those memories :)
Thanks for the support. I shouldn't have called him that. Normally I never speak that way. I guess its easier to talk filthy from behind a computer mouse. Thanks for watching though!
Tht Hinsdale Station, how often or what is the average time span between trains, I know some editing, but it looks like ther were trains one after another.
I don't why people complain about a nicely shot HD train video. If you want to see more footage of something, for example Nebraska Zephyr, just type it in on the search bar. jeesh.
I have a question about the Norfolk Southern Line in Chesterton,IN.Did you see a Train go by every 5-20 Minutes when watching or was it more like every 5-10 minutes?
METRA usually only has one diesel per train; so they install a cab and controls in the last car to allow for trains to run backward. I don't think they really go a long ways, not like Amtrak. But it is possible to do so, and I think it wouldn't hurt the diesel, or cars to make long trips.
True, but Warren Buffett, owner of BNSF and multi-billionaire agrees, "The best education you can get is investing in yourself. But this doesn’t always mean college or university."
First of all, no. I don't talk to my mother that way. Talk like that is only worthy of those who are worthless. Like you. I was with a friend of mine. We only had one day in Chicago to tape, we didn't have time to stay for the return trip or for the next day where we might have an opportunity to catch and chase it outside of Chicago. You try catching up to something at a constant speed when you're being stopped by all sorts of traffic lights and other drivers.
Thanks for the treat. Question: Around the 3 minute mark at Hinsdale, the passenger train was backing up at high speed. I've never seen that, but is that normal? Just curious.
It wasn't actually backing up, rather, the locomotive was pushing on the end of the train and the engineer was controlling it from one of the passenger cars. It makes it easy for the train crews because they don't have to turn the train around.
Delay In Block Productions Thanks for the prompt answer. I thought that might be the case. Again, great videos. I worked as a brakeman for the SP in the long ago. Now, the BNSF runs by the farm, so I see a cornucopia of engines, as in Citirail, SP, UP, KCS, CN, NS, Soo, Ferrocarril, CSX.
Awesome! Thank you for watching my videos. It makes me really happy knowing railroaders enjoy them. Feel free to Subscribe to my channel for all my new videos!
To all you people bashing DelayInBlock, I have personally met him and he is a polite, intelligent respectful young man. He has a great passion for trains and never has he posted anything that wasn't what he said it was. So get a life and lay off him. Go pick on someone else.
I'm in National Honors Society at school. I don't have any lack of education whatsoever. By the way, Henry Ford, one of the richest men in history, was a drop out. Thomas Edison, was a drop out. Ben Franklin, a drop out. Yeah, education sure goes a long way.
First off, you try chasing the Zephyr out of Chicago and at 79MPH on parts of that line half way a crossed Illinois on a tiny budget. Do the Math moron. I would have rather had one nice shot then 10 bad ones.
there are a lot of grain in the eleveters and a lot of grain cars to haul the geain but there is no sign that the car has had chicken droppings in this car and then filled up with corn for your corn flakes cheery oh's rasin bran
It is pretty amazing that a machine from the early 40s still looks like its from 50 years in the future in, now, 2016.
Everything's chrome in the future.
Stainless steel doesn't rust like steel... Nor does the paint fade as much either. There are reasons why Via and Amtrak continue to use stainless steel... Amtrak may paint the locomotives, but the Superliner, Viewliner, and Amfleet cars are stainless steel...
That’s probably because it was made in America and not in China
@@InFltSvc Amen to that!!!
All of Amtrak's rollinh stock is made in the US.
Streamlines are great looking locomotives

Used go to Illinois railway museum a lot haven’t been in a while through thanks for rekindling the memories of this gorgeous train

Love the zephyr, beautiful train set
You had awesome vantage points to shoot all that from! Well done and thanks for sharing!
when zephyrs ruled the rails, e5s looked the best, theres nothing that pulls like a shovel nose
At 19 minute mark, how did you know timing that the two trains would meet right at that curve allowing you that incredible, dramatic shot? Excellent work.

Did not realize the freight traffic through Hinsdale. Looks like a great place to railfan both freight and passenger.
Great Video. Thanks for posting !!!!!
The E 5 a prime example of the art of locomotion, the most beautiful locomotive made
Awesome awesome stuff! Great to see the Zephyr out on the rails and more great Metra action, and of course, Chesterton is where I rail fan all the time!
Nice train !
Its a new type of train looking with different design as seen in other posting.
Rokon Zaman Actually, this is a very old train which has retired from its service long ago. The Illinois Rail Museum in Union Illinois is home to this train, but yet, this train is ran on special trips at times.
Which one was the Zephyr? there were countless of these trains in this video.
@@johnbreighner5852 the silver one
from Canada) Excellent Video, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Love the trains,the old E-9 was a treat,wish I had one,beautiful.
Roberta Williamson It’s an E5, although we do have an E9 at the IRM.
You meant e5 but good one
That was cool seeing the Zephyr. I wish you could have followed it.
I love the scenes from Hinsdale! I grew up in that area, and used to ride my bike down to the station to watch trains all the time. Thanks for rekindling those memories :)
That's Hinsdale alright! And at the next stop I can see a little boy with his bike... and a notepad.
Cindy Casady Would have been an iPad instead of a notepad if they existed back then :)
Great work as always!
Yeah man! I was really lucky! Thanks for watching!
Nice catch with the Zephyr. The last time I saw this engine was at TrainFestival 2011.
Thanks for the support. I shouldn't have called him that. Normally I never speak that way. I guess its easier to talk filthy from behind a computer mouse. Thanks for watching though!
Hello Steven. The Zephyr is part of the collection at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL. This was part of a special excursion.
Hello from Kansas 🇺🇸
Tht Hinsdale Station, how often or what is the average time span between trains, I know some editing, but it looks like ther were trains one after another.
Cool! Always like see the Zephyr at the Museum... nice to see it out on excursions.
Frank Bastion Last time I was at the museum, I was a little boy who loved Thomas the Tank Engine. I was there for, yes, Day Out With Thomas.
They don't call it the windy city for nothing. Great videography.
A GENERAL ELECTRIC C40-9 locomotive.
2:30 Looks like that train sure did time travel
Sounds like you had a hell of a day. Awesome catches
Not the first time since 1967, i caught it running to Galesburg RR Days back in 1997
Great shots. Thank you for posting. Don't let idiots bother you.
Great catch! I live in Chicago and have never seen this train!
Going to have to do something about that rear eninge pretty soon...its just about done.
love that zephyr train @ the 2:17 mark
Interesting to see the old F40ph still hard a t work
Nice catch on the SD60E's! Can't wait to head down to the NS line this weekend. :)
The Nebraska Zephy was the very first talgo train!
True or false?
This is BEYOND awesome!
Great video. Always nice to see a passenger train running on home rails; even though Amtrak usually has those rights. Still, I really liked the video.
Seems like the Zephyr was burning oil. Blown gasket maybe?
Chicago, Chesterton, and Otis.
We need more passenger trains. So sad they were killed off. I miss that after having lived in Europe
I don't why people complain about a nicely shot HD train video. If you want to see more footage of something, for example Nebraska Zephyr, just type it in on the search bar. jeesh.
I sure did! Thanks for watching bud!
Wow what a video! Great work!!!
Who owns and operates this beautiful train?
That is ALOT! of trains. i wonder how long you waited for them.
point 2:10 made the video right there, it can't get better than this.
some of the metra cars said BNSF at 3:59, and I'm surprised that a piece of IRM equipment would leave the museum on an excursion.
Because Metra rents them from BNSF.
@djkrazy18 Where is this?
I think they look icky!

you can be whatever you want behind a computer and great videos's keep it up
I'd like to see a Vintage TEE trans-euro Express
Nice catches.
The Metra train is rolling backwards. Is it smart for a passenger train to do that over a long distance?
True, but Warren Buffett, owner of BNSF and multi-billionaire agrees, "The best education you can get is investing in yourself. But this doesn’t always mean college or university."
Will they ever do an excursion like this again?
Not likely, thanks to PTC and the precision railroading BS.

Why don't the trains sound the horns when they cross ?

trust me, its easier to talk dirty from a computer ;)
nice!
Anyone noticed that BNSF have passenger cars?
the only thing i hate about this is that he was on the shadow side (which is easy to fix).
False advertising. One two instead shot of a Zephyr in a 21 minute video.
How disappointing , here I am thinking it would be a vid of the Vintage Train only , and what anything but ?
This is the way it should have stayed

nice
These are freight trains...not passenger trains.
probably coming from or going back to the IRM

Post Modernity. That’s why. Thanks for watching.

If you call the video Vintage Passenger Train, than I´m expecting more than some seconds of the train. And do something against the noise of the wind.
