Jesus, that was probably the most in-depth, best review I’ve ever watched for anything on UA-cam. Looking forward to getting rid of my cosmetic carbon paddles and getting these. 👏👏
When you mentioned the magnet and the ability to swap them out for less or more force, I thought interesting, nice attention to details and later when you pulled out that meter to measure the force needed to pull the stock paddles I couldn't help but to press the like button 10 times ! Nice video and attention to details man.
Thanks so much for this. I’m definitely not jumping on this now. The stock paddles always felt great to me, especially coming from a ZF it’s miles better
Got hold of these recently and installed them on the weekend. Ended up going with the shorter pedals. It’s like have a logictech g923 steering wheel in my car. Not bad for a bit of novelty.
I used TESA tape on mine on the return click. Basically adhesive felt and you only need 2 layers to significantly dampen the return click. Also, JQwerks and Mashimarho has the aluminum paddles for $100
I just installed mine and wow.. they are loud as mentioned. I'll be trying out the Tesa tape as you mentioned! Great advice! FYI I did get the aluminum ones and they have that premium feel, stock feel. I can solidly initiate a gear shift with my pinky at the very top of the paddle with ZERO flex or lack of shift... awesome!
Any more comments on how it sounds with a few layers of TESA? I like the tactically of these but they’re like the Cherry MX Blues of shift paddles. I want Browns lol
Nice review but my thought? The big advantage of this set of shifters is the ability to screw them off later without further removing the airbag and of course the magnets. However, the disadvantages are too many: too narrow shifter design, too short second set of shifters and last but not least, ridiculously expensive, even those made of aluminium. Although well-meaning nevertheless sry for my negative comments but that's the way I see it.
Having had the DCT, I thought the paddles were a bit short for my taste. They did have a great feel and satisfying click. I was curious when I had the DCT about swapping the paddles out for longer ones. Solved the issue by buying a F87 6 speed manual
I feel that the paddles are too close to the rim of the wheel anyway. I have small hands but I still wish the paddles were further in. But I agree that higher pull force would be nice.
Thin foam tape works well too. Great review! I definitely won't be ordering them now, I always drive in manual mode and it would get too annoying for sure
I wonder how thick that foam tape is? As you increase the thickness, you also decrease the travel and required pull weight. Someone else used ppf, and I think that's probably and even better method than I used.
I just got these installed. I love them but damn they are loud. Definitely going to give the 8 layers of tape a try. Any idea what brand of tape you have?
I like the longer reach of the extended paddles. That's one of the main reasons I bought this kit. I don't really have any plans to use the short ones.
Very nice. It's still no substitute for a manual car. It's a real shame what is happening with cars, so many going auto and semi auto. Manual cars offer the greatest and best driver satisfaction.

Nice! Love that you measured the trigger pull

@@Herbotis is that same affect not present with the carbon fiber variant?
Where exactly do you put the tape? Just over one of the magnets inside the housing?

I was part of the group buy too and got mine. I’m gonna try the tape mod too because I agree they’re too loud
Great in depth review! Thanks
I just ordered a set. I want to drill out my current MMR paddles to work with the Madtrace system.
That sounds like a sweet idea! Let me know how it works out for you!
Nice review but my thought?

I used 2x layers of PPF. More rubbery damped material.
Using scrap ppf pieces is a great idea!

@@FaRKle0079 people on the forums seem to use 1mm thick foam tape from what I've seen
Great Video. Do they make ones for the X3M40i? How much do they cost and how easy or hard is it to install? Thanks!
They do make a G-series version. If you google the Madtrace Magnetic Shifters you should be able to find it (select the G-series version).

I was using some generic clear packing tape. It has a thickness of 50um/2mils.
Hey Farkle, why do you not use the short Version?

ha, a dog box offers more driver satisfaction. give me one of those over a h shifter. The sound of a car banging thru gears in seconds is peak.
That doesn't seem very polished for a $450 product
Agreed. I probably wouldn't buy it at $450.
$70 aliexpress and the exact same product lol
