Billy Connolly....Scotland's gift to humanity. I've been laughing my head off with him since the 70's. Where do you start?...Old Lady on the Bus, Terrorist Attack on Glasgow Airport, Don't drink the Tap Water in Ibiza, Colonoscopy, On a Flight to Australia and so on. Whoopi Goldberg is the one who introduced him to an unsuspecting America in an HBO special. The late Robin Williams was in that audience, laughed his head off and became firm friends with Billy until his death in 2014. You cannot go wrong with Billy, also known as the Big Yin. He's been causing us in the UK to laugh our heads off since the 70's, has done some acting: Mrs Brown, and amongst others, a Columbo. Total legend and just bloody funny. I would go as far as to say possibly the funniest stand up comic of all time. He's sadly got Parkinson's now & retired from performing. I'm probably going to cry a river when he goes.....
Another two of of my all time Connolly stand-up faves are 'Potatoes Of The Night' and 'Incontinence Pants'...but you mentioned a bunch of his other classic routines and they're equally hilarious, dangerously so. God bless him. Undoubtedly, the funniest man I ever saw in all my 72 years. 🙋♂
The King in Shrek is actually played by John Cleese of Monty Python fame. Thanks for your reactions guys, I've just recently found your channel and have been loving your content.
This is one of my favourite clips from Billy Connolly. My Dad and I watched this on video years ago and two of us were in stitches, I will never forget the first time watching this.
THE master of stand up comedy and story telling. NOBODY compares to Billy. Robin Williams said he was the funniest man alive. For a man so funny and such a genius himself, says it all. Saw Billy at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow, early eighties. My jaw ached for days! Genius
We would if every reaction didn't land us a copyright strike. We can't have too many at once and so far everything single reaction we've done has resulted in a strike. We have Old Lady on a Bus coming, but it's fighting off a copyright strike currently.
I saw Billy on his Bites Your Bum tour in Dundee Scotland in the 80's... He was utterly relentless, absolutely hysterical - He would tell one joke and you were laughing so hard but then he would tell 3 other jokes while you were still laughing at the first one... I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack !!!. I had to leave the auditorium and stand in the foyer to calm down.. And there were at least another dozen people there doing the same thing lol .. AMAZING comedian, especially if you are Scottish. Billy was able to speak in his normal voice without having to enunciate (as he had to performing in England) meant Billy was able to go at us like a train without having to draw breath.. Frighteningly funny.
Back in 2011, Billy did a four-episode travelogue series where he rides his motor trike the length of Route 66, meeting the people and sharing stories. You can find the series on here in one complete three-hour video - 'Billy Connolly's Route 66'. ✌😁 Even if you don't make videos on it, you'll enjoy watching it together all the same. 🙂
The scene where there is a room full of politicians and hangers-on in identical Victorian-era suits and Billy C walks through them all in his kilt ignoring them all and he has, naturally, The Scotsman in a Kilt Swagger going on - and he looks the coolest (and comfortable with it) dude in the scene... They call him The Big Yin and you can see why...
Billy was big pals with Robin Williams. The two of them together were outrageous. Robin used to stay with Billy in Billy's castle (more of a large house) he owned in Scotland.
It was Robin Williams who dubbed Billy the father of stand up comedy...also Robin phoned billy up the night before he died to say hello and stuff and later billy realised Robin was actually phoning his good friend up to say goodbye.
I grew up listening to Billy on the record player. My mum had lots of brilliant comedy recordings on LP he would do comedy gigs but he started off as a folk singer in pubs and clubs around Scotland and would tell funny stories in between sets and he just started to tell more and more stories and do less music, but he does a brilliant rendition/ parody of country and westen song DIVORCE .i would sing along to it, and the adults would laugh or be shocked that a little blonde toddler could sing spell naughty words 😂
My Dad went to St.Peter's school alongside Billy Glasgow in Partick, Glasgow and both frequented The Smiddy bar in Partick as well. Met him in there once when me and my Da were having a pint. My Da always said he knew Billy but as kids me and my brother were like yeah yeah bs. Billy greeted my Da with " Oh how ye doing Twinny" as yup my Da has a twin and I sat there in disbelief as my auld man grinned like a Cheshire cat.😂 Billy s a gent and absolutely hilarious.😂👍
Toffs christmas dinner party yorkshire is one of his best as well, but only audio is on youtube i think unfortunately, you need to see him do it for full effect.
Mike you are such a lucky guy, Jess is in my mind the perfect partner, her sense of humour and positive energy is a rare gift, if i was able travel i would love to spend time with you both, lovely couple made for each other, have a fantastic life together 🙂
My Nan intruduced me to billy way to young about 11 😂 but me and her laughed like you wouldn’t believe and she’s passed now but every time I watch billy I think of her
The little creatures that you’re trying to think of are coastal or sea iguanas and your right that was a truly spectacular piece of filmmaking but not really for small kids.
@RegenerationNationTV . Most Americans recognise him as II Duce from the Boondock Saints , King Theodore from Gulliver's Travels , Dain from The Hobbit , John Brown from Mrs Brown . But one of my favourite Billy Connolly films was The Man Who Sued God .
You will love the interview... Parkinson Billy Connolly and Tom Cruise .... they are talking about the movie Last Samurai . Hilarious . I think it's in two parts on UA-cam .
Ok guys, first time I'm reacting to your stuff. And, although I subscribe, I rarely react, and normally remain anonymous. But, I really enjoy your reactions - whether it's on music, culture, or comedy. Keep the standard up and you'll get more subscibes! Great formula in your reactions guys!
Yes! ... More Billy please! Legend Check out his flight to Australia story 😊 The docu you watched were little Iguanas being chased by snakes.... i remember watching that aswell
I'm happy you gave Billy another view but also a little sad because a lot of his stories from his time as an appreciate welder in the shipyards of Glasgow are so so so funny but not findable on you tube . If you can find dvds of his early stand up please watch them , with a box of tissue 😂
@@PaulDrake-u7mYup, Billy spent years working as a welder in the Glasgow shipyards after leaving school. An apprenticeship lasted 2-3 yes to train someone up to do an particular trade. He always said he spent years crying with laughter at the funny tales his work mates would tell him and wondering why on earth he didn't laugh so hard at the comics on TV.
At 2.31 on the video Billy corrects wilderbeasts to wilderbeast - precise, concise and articulate English language. Instantly. 'Can I get a ...' means can I go and fetch it, in a restaurant, instead of ''can I have' or 'can I order'. He knows that precise, concise, English language tells a story far better. A dieing art form
He was in a great film with Dame Judy Dench about Queen Victoria and her friendship with a Scottish servant after Prince Albert passed away. Mrs Brown, I think it's called. He also used to own a tea company called Tickerty Boo. It's profits went to the tea growers and charities. It was so flavoursome. It's no longer available. Sadly.
I've only just discovered this channel but I've watched so many videos all day! You guys are hilarious in your responses... I think you should watch clips of Friday Night Dinner... A great comedy about... Wait for it... Friday Night Dinner! 🤣 Also, a comedian called Sindhu Vee on her spot at Live at the Apollo! I'll be watching this channel every single day! All the best from Edinburgh!
If you like movies with Billy Connolly take a look at “The man who sued God”. Interesting movie I think it’s set in Australia but I may be wrong!! Greetings from Kos island Greece by the way.
At the end of Pink Floyd's " another brick in the wall"......"if you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding"......none other than Billy Conolly
John Cleese played Fiona's dad in Shrek lol. Billy was also in a great film called The Man Who Sued God. Highly recommend it if you haven't already seen it
As an Englisman I don't like speaking on behalf of the Scottish, but it would be an understatement to say that he is legitimately the equivalent of royalty to the Scottish people (and everyone else in the UK for that matter)
US audiences might know Billy from TV sitcom Head of the Class(and it's short lived spin off, Billy) which ran for 1 season(and 6 episodes) in the early 90's. It was supposed to be his big break over in the US but it didn't really work out.
the king in Shrek is played by John Cleese from things like monty python and faulty towers. Billy Connolly was in "the last samurai" and a movie called "the man who sued god" as well as one of the muppet movies.
It’s funny how Americans know Billy best as an actor; he has performed standup in America a lot, & even had an HBO special hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, with Robin Williams in the audience. But that special was back in like 1989, so it’s not a surprise younger folk wouldn’t know about it today. He’s been in some great films over the years; one I’d highly recommend, is a late 90’s film called ‘Still Crazy’: it’s a black comedy about an old 70’s British rock band that get back together to go on a European tour, which will culminate at the same big festival that the band broke up at years earlier, when lightning struck the stage. It’s a very funny film, & Billy plays the bands old roadie, & he’s very good; it also stars Bill Nighy & Timothy Spall, who you’ll probably recognise from many other films, along with a few other less well known (internationally) British actors. It’s a fun film; check out, if you get the chance. I’m quite jealous that there are people out there who don’t know who Billy Connolly is, because you get the joy of discovering him, & all his material will be brand new to you. I’ve seen nearly all of it dozens- if not hundreds of times, & it still makes me laugh like it did the first time; Billy possibly the greatest comedian the UK (with specific thanks to Scotland, obviously) has ever produced. I just discovered this channel, from your Micky Flanagan reaction videos; you’ve definitely got a new fan, & I’m very much looking to working my way through your back catalogue of videos.
Speaking as an Englishman, the relationship between England and Scotland has been - variously - tumultuous, exciting, warlike and resigned - like two very different people having to share the same house. With no possibility of leaving it. But out of that has come a sometimes wary acknowledgement of each other's talents and brilliance. And for those south of the border, Billy Connolly is one of Caledonia's greatest exports. And perhaps a reminder, even today, of what the British Isles looked like before we learned to be more American. (I say this with respect, but it is a fact that we sometimes suffer a loss of identity through over-identification - via language - with a culture that doesn't fully reflect us). Crossing boundaries is the target of humour, however. And he is one of its great geniuses.
It was Iguanas on the Galápagos Islands that, when newly hatched, had to immediately run the gauntlet of racer snakes appearing from everywhere trying to kill them. They had to make it to some rocks and scramble up and over them to the 'safety' of the sea, avoiding being caught. But newly hatched baby turtles have to run the gauntlet of predatory birds in order to reach the sea and safety.
Yeah, it was from the BBC's Planet Earth II with David Attenborough. Although I seem to recall that when it was shown in the US they had someone else narrate it instead(possibly Oprah Winfrey(?))!!
Great reaction Mike and Jess. Billy Connolly is for sure one of a kind. Talk about a random comedy skit, I have a little gem for you guys. Try reacting to "I Hear You're A Racist Now, Father! - Father Ted" (3.00 mins) which is beyond funny and from a British/Irish sitcom (situation comedy) called 'Father Ted' and was a very popular and very funny comedy sketch show which ran through the mid 90's. This comedy sketch clip was taken from Season 3 Episode 1 and regarded as the most favourite comedy clip from the whole series and generally reacted to by most comedy UA-cam reactors. Give it a go guys as it is guaranteed to have you in stitches. 😅🤣😂
Nice one RegenTV. You may find Billy's take on the attempted terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport quite funny. A genuine event the happened here in Scotland. There is also his world tour of Scotland series, which he also did in several other countries. Take care folks, happy vibes from Bonnie Scotland.
Add 'dwarf on a bus' and 'old lady on a bus' to your viewing list if you're interested in more of Billy. Also, Stewart Lee 'Playing the room as it's dealt', 'Bin Laden' & 'Braveheart' would be worth checking out. Nobody does comedy like Stewart '..... has let himself go' Lee.
Billy didn't voice anybody in any of the Shrek movies. That was John Cleese from the Monty Python & Fawlty Towers sketches, if you ever seen any of them. John is English, Billy is Scottish.
An Audience With Billy Connolly (1985) has always been my favourite. The "Incontinence Pants" bit will have you in stitches.
Seen that so many times, it never gets old - a true legend.
incontinence pads routine is hysterical
Yes ideally watch the whole thing but if you only watch one bit make it that.
that is fab. I watched it again recently
The priest story gets me every time, it's him again! 😂

Ask most Brits who the greatest ever comedian is and I'd guess a majority would say Billy Connolly without hesitation.

His good old pal Robin Williams called him the father of stand up comedy.
One of the few comedians, each of whose shows was always different and fresh. 😊

You will have to do Billy and Tom Cruise on Parkinson it is hilarious
Such a funny sketch
Your wisteria is looking very healthy
Add 'dwarf on a bus' and 'old lady on a bus' to your viewing list if you're interested in more of Billy. Also, Stewart Lee 'Playing the room as it's dealt', 'Bin Laden' & 'Braveheart' would be worth checking out. Nobody does comedy like Stewart '..... has let himself go' Lee.
You should react to Billy Connely 'Dwarf on the bus'.
Billy didn't voice anybody in any of the Shrek movies. That was John Cleese from the Monty Python & Fawlty Towers sketches, if you ever seen any of them. John is English, Billy is Scottish.
I’d love too see you react to billy connolly and Tom cruise on the Michael Parkinson show😘
