@@dannyblaze915 US has 400 military bases around the world, how much do you think they should spend? US enemies usually have 3-4 bases outside the country and minimal spending on ineffective projects (especially important), because US likes to steal money on development of extremely expensive weapons, such as F-117, F-22, F-35, etc.
Should I tell you how expenses and prices are formed?
Each production chain in US is more expensive than in other countries, because cost of energy is higher in US, each production chain is more expensive due to underdeveloped logistics (for example, in Russia, rail logistics is one of most developed in the world(also in terms of technology), and in China, maritime logistics is developed), US has weak rail network and almost everything is transported by trucks and planes, which is extremely expensive and inefficient.
Due to high cost of living, wages in US are higher, the cost of processing materials is more expensive.
Final cost of military equipment is significantly higher in 2-5 times. For example, if russians assembled M1 Abrams tanks, it would cost less than Russian T-90M, or would have the same price.
Price is very important. Pay attention to which countries all the factories in the world are located in and why they are located there.
This list doesn't include US, Russia or Europe.
      But there is China.
In any case, I have not seen modern US weapons better than those of their main opponents, starting with the fact that the US still cannot replace even the 1930s M2 Browning machine guns, while their opponents have more modern, lighter, more accurate and cheaper weapons, ending with the US nuclear forces, which have not been updated since the early 1990s.

@@dannyblaze915 I tried to explain why US military budget is high (it isn't really high, but at level of China and Russia). US has 400 military bases, very high cost of production chains and underdeveloped logistics (high costs for planes and trucks, instead of cheap railways, which US almost doesn't have), high costs energy in factories and etc... but this US democratic platform "respecting" freedom of information deletes my big answer every time..

For everyone wondering why there is so much preparation to launch these tests its because they take one of the missiles from an active silo in the midwest remove the warhead and transport it to Vandenberg AFB and launch it from a silo there to reduce misunderstandings by foreign countries I would assume.

I sympathize with you my American neighbor. If you see them launch it most likely means that someone has already launched. You will not survive as all those silos are strategic targets. I live in LA near the border with Orange County where the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Storage is located. So yes we have Nuclear weapons within five miles of where I live. We used to have Nike Missiles all over Southern California. The one that Mary Tyler Moore laid on was located locally at the Fort MacArthur Army base in San Pedro. We’ve been surrounded by these weapons all of our lives. The Fallout isn’t so bad these days not like when we could see Nukes set off in the Nevada Proving Grounds when I was a kid. The Government didn’t seem to care about the fallout. Stupid weapons didn’t use all of the Plutonium and just blew the most poisonous substance on earth into dust that spread everywhere. This is why everybody has Cancer in America. At least the Tsar Bomba used up all of its nuclear material and there was no fallout. Very destructive weapon just too heavy to transport. Thank god they reduced the mega tonnage by half using lead instead of plutonium. They still cracked the Earth’s mantle. And it was over 27,000 lbs. and just too heavy to transport. I am 70 now and will never see a world either without these unnecessary weapons or hopefully not one all blowed up. Good luck for the future of this nation and I hate to leave it up to that. Only good things for you and your family, Hermit.

A Minuteman missile can be launched in about 60 seconds, hence the name. What they are doing in the video is loading a missile into a silo, but for national defense, there's already a fleet of them in silos on standby for launch, 24/7. Perhaps you're thinking of the Titan I, which had to be lifted into position, fueled, and then launched. If Russia launched a land based missile towards the US, it'd take about 30 minutes to get here. A submarine launched missile would be about 10-15 minutes, depending on the location of the submarine. (I'm an Air Force fan, but I think the SLBMs are the best nuclear deterrents)
